PIM backup issues (Hotmail issues sorted) - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi Guys
if this has been answered elsewhere i do apologise.. i'm working a 12 hour shift and i'm bloody knackered..
anyway i have 2 questions
1. when Hotmail is selected for the email app (it automatically goes through to use windows live) it only seems to download the last 50 emails on the account.... is there a way of changing this?
2. When i used PIM backup (I other email accounts setup which i backed up) it only seemed to backup my email headers but not the full email itself any ideas on that one? i restore them but it be pretty pointless as it shows non of the email.. .
and thirdly.. (yea ok 3 questions.. did i mention i was tired?)
today i upgraded to Dutty's Ultimate HG 2.5 WWE and i could previously setup my Hotmail account via the "other Account" option to allow more flexibility in handling my emails.. is there a way of me to stop the email client to not even bother using Windows Live as it's options are pretty crap.
Ta very much

ok the 50 email limit i've found out is Microsoft imposed.. grrrrr... however then i need to try and setup my email manually to use outlook settings instead of it using windows Live.. any ideas?

oh my god.. i'm stupid.. apologies.. i've sorted it now.. i blame the tiredness again..
Ok that's sorted just an issue with the PIM stuff..

Pim backup email headers only
Please Help,
Pim backup will only restore email headers only. How do I get round this? Its driving me mad?
Thanks

2125 contacts backup question

I need to update the rom on my girlfriends phone as it thinks daylight savings happened today and it's annoying her and the rom is the one that came with the phone 1.5 years ago.
She's never backed up to activesync.
I downloaded and installed the newest active sync on her computer. (mine is running fine for my Tilt and i didnt want contacts to get all combined)
It finds her phone fine. But it doesnt show any contacts in outlook. contacts is selected in the list of things to back up.
help!~
oh~my english is verypool~do not quite understand
2125 contacts don't sync to Outlook
I am having this same problem with my wife's phone. I saw where the office service pack needed to be a certain minimum level, but I took care of that and it still doesn't work.
PIM Backup is no solution for you ?
back up your contacts to the SIM. If you need more detailed back up use PIM back-up as Peter says.
You can find PIM back up in the developing and hacking forum, if I recall correctly.
I think the most comfortable way of backing up your contacts is via mail2web. just create an account and add their exchange server to your activesync settings.
there's no need for extra-software to do this.

I lost my contacts help please

Hi,
Today i lost allllll contacts and calendar on my htc touch with the help of the fabulous and wonderful program L_.-¨Active Sync 4.5¨-._J
It´s possible to recover the contacts that i have lost?
Thank u!!!
Did you loose them on your desktop? if not then just open active sync and go to file>Delete Mobile Device. then reconnect and resync.
SoBBie
Dude I sympathize, did the same with me.
Then again I've been having 85010014 probs with activesync for ages, tryied everythin. It connects up but won't sync anything other than mobile favs
If that wasn't frustrating enough after transfering all my calender info n contacts over from my old tytn to my tytn2 by painstakingly bluetoothing vcards for each n every entry Activesync then when and wiped the bloody lot I'm guessing it happened by me changing the sync profile to not sync anything (thought it was a waste of time as it didn't work anyhow).
I was just gonna used Async to transfer cabs n music, next thing I know my phones got no contacts or calender info
As a work around I have e-mailed myself my contacts list as vcards but this doesnt seem to work 4 calender stuff.
At least it didn't wipe my outlook details
Moral of the story!
Get some backup software n use it
If you've still got ur outlook stuff n Async is not working try the e-mail method

Cannot Setup Gmail and MSN on Pocket Email

I just flashed the
OTP v7.6 Biggy with phonecanvas and I LOVE IT!
However, I am trying to setup @gmail it goes to automatic setup and finishes and it does not work. I changed where it automatically had put smtp in the incoming server and it still does not work. I cant even set it up manually.
Sam thing with my @msn email account used to setup automatically in original Wing ROM but now it only gives me a link to browse to check my email on the pocket browser (in this case Opera Mini).
Any solution?
Ok, I was able to fix the gmail problem, in case anyone else has an issue:
Just start off by pretending you dont have gmail but have gggmail like i did. in the first step if your email is
[email protected]gmail.com for instance just type in
[email protected]gggmail.com
then the stupid software will give you the option not to search for automatic setting that is screwing up the email (probably Gmail doing it on purpose since the Andriod is out).
I have not tried the msn yet but I will.
MODs please feel free to delete this thread!
Ok, Gmail is fixed.
MSN does NOT work anymore I guess from what I understand (I am not a paying member so I dont get pop3, I dont know how I was getting it before)
Yahoo however is giving away free POP3 in certain countries, and the new email address is @ymail.com, so just go to this site: http://uk.yahoo.com/ and then sign up for a new account in UK and later chnage your location to US. he POP3 is in the email section under options, pop and forwarding. Good luck!
for MSN i'm sure you could always install windows live, though that will eat up another 3mb of precious memory on the phone
Thanks!
Thanks. My Gmail kept defaulting to imap - even though I changed it back to POP on the server level and it was driving me nuts. That is a pretty stupid move on WinMobile's part to not give us the "manual" configuration option up front.

[WM 6] How I can backup contact information without having ActiveSyc?

Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
I have a samsung i780 and ActiveSync does not detect it, I just want to hard reset it (does hard reset delete everything?) to see whether I can make it detected by ActiveSync or not.
I can not afford to lose my contacts information, Also, It will be very good to keep all sms too.
Can you please let me know how I can do that?
Thanks
try PPCPimBackup
http://www.dotfred.net/
To keep the contacts probably the easiest way it to sign up for one of the free online Exchange email accts and let the OTA Active Sync do it's magic. Personally i use mail2web. Doesn't help with the SMS though.
Other alternative that has just popped into my head is PIMBackup, seek and ye shall find on this forum. It will backup the whole thing, Contacts, Calendar, all messaging accounts, basically the whole PIM data.
+1 on PimBackup. It is downloaded as a windows mobile executable. Just copy it onto your sd card (which I hope you have).

[REQUEST] Backup sms to Gmail for Windows Mobile

I've always kept a copy of all my text messages in my desktop email archive using an Outlook plugin from Jeyo. However, after switching to Gmail, I'm really trying to avoid using Outlook altogether. That's why it would be great to have a program that automatically uploads all my text messages straight from my phone to my Gmail account. Kinda like MyPhone but with Gmail.
This is what it would do:
* Automatically copy every text message to Gmail;
* Upload messages from different folders: inbox, concepts and sent items, each to the appropriate Gmail locations.
I believe there's a program for this on the Android platform, but not on Windows Mobile.
I'm just posting this here as a suggestion, hoping a handy developer likes my idea, since I don't know how to do it myself.
Services like MyPhone and Dashwire let you do it to the cloud.
You can use Windows Mobile SMS Sync ( not Free ) / PIM Backup to back it up to your PC and manually send it to gMail.
Another alternateive ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324684 ) I think its no longer actively developed
hope this helps
Thanks for the suggestions. Some of them I hadn't seen before.
I'm already using MyPhone, which works automatically and does very well as a plain backup solution, but I'd really like to keep a complete archive of my correspondence (email and sms) in one place on Gmail.
On the other hand, I'm currently using Jeyo Mobile Companion to transfer my sms to gmail manually. The result is exactly what I want: each message is listed individually and chronologically among my emails. Unfortunately, this only works through desktop Outlook, and I'd like to avoid using my pc as a go-between.
So I'm still hoping for some new developement that will do this automatically and over the air. Such a program already exists for Android phones:
http://code.google.com/p/android-sms/
this would be nice
There's a Symbian program like this as well:
http://shop.psiloc.com/en/Application,262287,Psiloc+GSync
Why should Symbian and Android users have all the fun? Couldn't anyone port the Android version to Windows Mobile? It's open source...
Damn, I wish I was a developer myself.
I have been thinking about this too and I very much applaud the development of such an application too. Everything backed up to one place.
The basic idea is pretty simple, queuing a message to a specific folder on a pop3 / imap / exchange server. Restoring or syncing data from the server is more difficult, I suppose.
Sprite used to have (= not anymore) an application that continuously sent received text messages and calls as an e-mail to a specified e-mailaddress. Unfortunately, however, it was unable to restore from it.
Also, backing up messages for the first time will pose problems. Most e-mail services are capped at a maximum amount of messages per day (e.g. 1000 receive / send)
If you have an Exchange server, version 2010 wil have sms synchronisation features in it.
Cheers
Sprite Archie actually looks pretty good! I had no idea this ever existed. Too bad it's gone.
Seems like it simply forwarded text messages (and call logs) to a specified e-mail address. Ideally, I think a program could copy the messages directly to a specific e-mail folder via IMAP, right?
I see how restoring would be a problem, but I wouldn't really use this as a backup method anyway. I already have MyPhone and Sprite Backup for that.
To me, the main purpose would be archiving. Gmail just seems a natural place to store your text messages along with your e-mails: it gives you a complete overview of all your written correspondence.
Glad to see some enthousiasm for this idea!
This would be a good program, so Im putting my hand up for it as well....
(Hope that if this is done it would be compatible with the android way of doing it, thus allowing you to move texts from one platform to the other)
I've added this as a sugestion to Nuevasync as well, being that the activesync platform does allow for selecting SMS as an option to sync.
probably not what your looking for but i have my phone setup to sync my contacts and calendar through google and i run a program called phone log which puts the text message i reciever in my calendar as an event but through i would through it out there i would be interested in a program that did this though
I second this idea, it's works a treat on my Hero and I'd love to have to my sms's pushed to my SMS label in gmail on my HD2
I've actually found a copy of Sprite Archie (mentioned higher) and it works perfectly fine... At least, it did until I bought an HD2. There, it doesn't detect incoming messages. So no luck...
