Cannot Setup Gmail and MSN on Pocket Email - Wing, P4350 ROM development

I just flashed the
OTP v7.6 Biggy with phonecanvas and I LOVE IT!
However, I am trying to setup @gmail it goes to automatic setup and finishes and it does not work. I changed where it automatically had put smtp in the incoming server and it still does not work. I cant even set it up manually.
Sam thing with my @msn email account used to setup automatically in original Wing ROM but now it only gives me a link to browse to check my email on the pocket browser (in this case Opera Mini).
Any solution?

Ok, I was able to fix the gmail problem, in case anyone else has an issue:
Just start off by pretending you dont have gmail but have gggmail like i did. in the first step if your email is
[email protected]gmail.com for instance just type in
[email protected]gggmail.com
then the stupid software will give you the option not to search for automatic setting that is screwing up the email (probably Gmail doing it on purpose since the Andriod is out).
I have not tried the msn yet but I will.
MODs please feel free to delete this thread!

Ok, Gmail is fixed.
MSN does NOT work anymore I guess from what I understand (I am not a paying member so I dont get pop3, I dont know how I was getting it before)
Yahoo however is giving away free POP3 in certain countries, and the new email address is @ymail.com, so just go to this site: http://uk.yahoo.com/ and then sign up for a new account in UK and later chnage your location to US. he POP3 is in the email section under options, pop and forwarding. Good luck!

for MSN i'm sure you could always install windows live, though that will eat up another 3mb of precious memory on the phone

Thanks!
Thanks. My Gmail kept defaulting to imap - even though I changed it back to POP on the server level and it was driving me nuts. That is a pretty stupid move on WinMobile's part to not give us the "manual" configuration option up front.

Yea i thought i ve seen this here before, I saw someone asking about push mail service in other forums so I thought someone may need the info here too..
great I was gonna ask about this as I've tried emoze with no result
how do I set up the AKU2 for an exec on tmobile uk,will it run ok?
i am aware of this, but wanted to know if anyone had an idea as to how to change the reply-to address???
I have emails forwarded to the mail2web account so i can get the exchange sync on my Wizard but do not reply to them from it as i do not want that email address to be avaliable
mail2web
Ive been using the paid service of mail2web (i liked the free service enough that i wanted a full service) for the last 3 months now, in europe, in china the push email has worked great (no i dont work for them, but geeze when something just works its nice).
1) get the free account at www.mail2web.com
2) choose your [email protected]
3) redirect all your email to your mail2web.com address
4) when u want to reply to something simply setup an imap, or pop3
account that you never poll, so when u want to reply to an email,
switch account, new, send email. its a bit cludgy, we need a better
email client that allows us to adjust the from address.
a.
As far as I am aware, it is something they have to do at the server end. I spoke to them about it and changing the domain of the reply address is one of the features of their buisness packages.
However, they did say that they are thinking of adding this to the personal package soon (don't know if that includes the free one or not!)
Hope this helps!

That would be awesome. I currently use a forwarding-account from http://www.pobox.com and would like to be able to use my Pobox-address as the default address from Mail2Web-live.

You can simply reply to emails through the mail client, it will send them from your mail2web account.
Just followed the instruction and got the push mail work perfectly, but some question to ask here, can i know what's the different between this setup and if I setup a pop mail with auto connect option enabled?
Pop mail will check mail at the intervals you specify.
Push mail keeps a data link open to the server and gets the mail as soon as it arives.

For the pushmail to work, does our phone require to be connnected to the internet either throught wifi or GPRS or other services offered by the mobile service provider?
Yes, it needs internet access.
GPRS is what it's designed to work with as this stays active while he phone is in standby. It will work with WiFi, but while the phone is in standby it will try to connect by GPRS if you have a connection available.
It could in theory work on a Bluetooth PAN with internet access, but I haven't tried this.
ok i have mail2web set up but push email is not working. I have a t-mobile MDA with the new T-Mobile US ROM (the t-mobile provided rom) and if i send recieve i get my email but so far i have not received a push email..... any thoughts..... directpush is green in the connection manager.....
i have the mda for t-mobile usa too
go to active sync on the mda and then

Is it possible to push from two different servers?
I have been using gmail for a long time. My biggest complaint is that everytime I sync it deletes all of the information that was downloaded the last time I synced. Someone recomended mail2web.com to use as an exchange server which works great. I didn't know my wizard could do push mail. Now that it does I would like to download my work email and my gmail, but keep them seperate. Is that possible? If it isn't does anyone know of a pop or imap service that works better then gmail? Thanks a bunch.

In Gmail you can select the option of leaving a copy of your mail in Gmail account in Options.
I use mail2web.com with free live services and it work's well.

Is there some people that have those folders Sync. ?
Is it a limitation for free services at Mail2web ?

Email Spam= What Prog to use

Hi all
I did a search but it came up with nothing which I thought was odd
What Spam programs are you guys using to controll spam on you Topaz/TD2
I dont want to waste my limited data connection on downloading Spam
Cheers porridge
good one porridge!
no probs on outlook but on TD2, it is a disaster!
what do you guys recommend?
I too would be interested in this as the delete from server function doesn't seem to work properly either like it did on my old Kaiser, deletes it first time round but on subsequent send/receive they're all retrieved again!
hello...bump
Hi People
Most people filter their mail for spammage within their mail hosting environment - For example, I synchronise from Googlemail (using IMAP4) and Google filter the crud for me, and from an Exchange Server, where the mail gets passed through Websense hosted email first. However you do the filtering, you need to do it either on the mailbox or before it gets to your mailbox (better). Any Spam filter on the WinMo would have to retrieve the message to rate it and either burn it or deliver it, leaving you no better off.
If you can advise on how your current email is received (from exchange/pop3/imap4 e.t.c.) and if its a personal, corporate or hosted mail service, I may be able to advise how best to approach it.
As Digital.Diablo is saying...
You should have your mails filtered before they reach your device.
I have a hotmail account and an exchange server account syncronized with my TD2, and I don't get any spam on either account.
- well, maybe one on very rare occations, but nothing to write home about.
On my hotmail account, Microsoft is doing the filtering for me and on the exhange one, some spam-filter-software installed on the server itself is doing it's job...

Free pushmail service

I'm looking for a free pushmail service for my HD2. Somebody can help me? I have tried some but they can not work correctly with WM 6.5.
Gmail works fine for me. Besides the actual GM account, I also duplicate some other GM accounts to it & it checks / collects mail from still further other non GM accounts.
ive also been looking for one for ages. My symbian friends are quite quick to put down my htc hd 2 because it doesnt have free pushmail service. XDA-developers have solved 99.9% of my probs. I hope it goes up by 0.1%
Thanks in advance. I love this website!

I see that you are on Tmobile UK. Do you use the standard web'n'walk for this push service?
I've never got proper push from Google to work with Gmail.
I use Gmail to forward to my Hotmail account, which is then picked up on Windows Live.
Works great!
just use google sync to push gmail
Gmail works great on my HD2, you just have to correctly set the account in Active Sync :
Server : m.google.fr
Mail : [email protected]
Pass: Your password (And check the box to store it)
Domain : Left blank
Then you can choose to synchronize Contacts, Calendar and mail but be sure not to check task (Otherwise you will get an error while syncing).
Then in Active Sync you have to set when the phone will check for new items, you have to say "when new items arrive" and check the box to allow while on Edge and 3G.
Normally every thing should work great.
I get mail quite quickly and my calendar and contacts are always up to date on the phone, the computer and the web!
the prob is i dont use gmail. i use hotmail and my work email is being hosted by mail2world.net so i need those to work. Im sure there is a free pushmail server for winmo i just havent found it yet.
Try www.momail.com . It works great for me

I am on T-mobile UK, I do have standard WnW.
Push Gmail works fine on my HD2 both T-mobile 1.43 & HTC 1.66 (as it did on my old TytnII).
I simply followed these instructions to access my email
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
Actually my ISP is Sky who email service uses re branded Google mail. I have my own domains for email. Because they insist on tagging my outgoing mail address/domain with their moniker, hardly professional, I use a 3rd party SMTP server (from the Skyusermail forum) for outgoing mail. All set up from within the HD2 messaging utility & transparent in use with no additional input.
I only sync my mail to Google. For privacy, Contacts, Calendar, Favourites & OneNote I sync to my Vista32 computer via USB (upgrading to Bluetooth in a couple of days). I found, when INITIALLY setting up the PHONE syncs, I have to add them ONE TYPE AT A TIME in sequential syncs, or it fails After the initial set up, it behaves correctly syncing all automatically together.
As far as what that Pushed Gmail account reports, I went into its web control panel and got it to collect incoming mail from MANY other accounts. I now have a PUSH one stop shop, when mobile, for about a dozen entirely separate email accounts!
I no longer need an office to run my business affairs. I can run everything from my mobile. Huge overhead saving and much more leisure time. My business now interrupts my leisure pursuits instead of vice versa.... Worthwhile trade off for me.
I also have a few other email accounts being checked every few hours. Also my HD2 is hooked up to Windows live / Hotmail. (Need to reinstall Skype.)

[Q] How to sync emails from PC with Android phone (Galaxy S)?

Hey folks,
I'm sorry this is probably a n00b question but I would like to sync my emails from my PC with my phone.
On the PC I use thunderbird to download all emails (got like 6 email accounts) to the pc and delete them from the server immidiately. (I've had accounts beeing hacked in the past because I left password emails etc in my inbox, so I started to delete them from server instead of leaving them on for more security - so I can't just "download them again" from the phone - I will need to sync the phone with the data from the PC. I could switch my email client program off course if thats needed, but I rather not let the messages lay somewhere online.
Can someone maybe explain to me how that would work or give me a link or smth?
It would be perfect if it would work both sides: Either I sync the phone with the PC or the PC with the phone, or a real sync where just the new emails get exchanged. (On the same time I'd also get this to work for my laptop but phone more important now since i got it heh)
I hope someone can help me.
you can't sync with EVERY email client..
it does sync with outlook/OE... I don't know about thunderbird tho. What you CAN try to do is change the settings to never delete emails from your server when downloaded to your computer and then sync so that when you delete them from your phone they'd be deleted from the server.
get my drift?
hmm well im used to thunderbird, but i dont have to keep using it necessarily. I'd change if it makes this whole syncing easier. Its been bugging me for a while that I didnt have my emails on my laptop but now i also need em on the phone.. so I wanna finally get this to work.
The method you described wouldnt work if I somehow download the emails to the phone first instead of the pc, it would work like u described, but if I'd rather work it in both ways, a real "sync".
With outlook you could do this yea?
Try using Gmail or Windows Live mail, its more compatabile with most wireless. Goto m.live.com or Gmail
well, if you use gmail you can easily keep it on both your computer and your phone and it would sync both ways.
Get a gmail account. Then forward all your email accounts to the gmail account. You can also set the gmail account to send out as one of the other accounts.
Setup the gmail account as an imap client in thunderbird or outlook. Create a folder under the inappropriate account named old emails or whatever. Move the emails stored in your local folders to the folder setup under the imap account (you can do it directly to the inbox if you prefer).
Setup gmail on your mobile device.
Say thanks.

Cleaner Explanation.
1) Create a Gmail account at Gmail.com (or skip this step if you already have one).
2) Log into the web versions of each of your email accounts. Set the account to forward all emails to the new gmail account address (typically these settings are found under the settings or Options menu somewhere on the page). If you would like to continue to use these accounts you can either:
a) Give Gmail permission to send emails as all the accounts or one in particular. (Note once in the mobile apps, you cannot choose different sender addresses, only the default one. You can however change from each address on the web interface). b) Set a forwarder and then specify to leave a message on the server.
3) Setup the gmail account you created as an IMAP account (use IMAP not SMTP) in thunderbird or Outlook.
a) You can find the Imap settings for desktop clients here.
4) Once the initial sync is complete, simply drag and drop the emails from the old inbox to the Gmail account's inbox (listed in a tree menu under the IMAP.Gmail.Com listing.
5) You can now set up this email address as a SMTP or IMAP (IMAP keeps the emails on the server. This is a better idea in some cases as you have exact copies of emails on all devices you set them up as.
6) Say thanks
You can also manually do this for each email account you have, but that would take much longer and some companies do not allow or simply haven't moved to using IMAP yet (freaky right?).
Using the gmail way, you have all your emails from all your accounts plus the wonders of google. This is the easiest way to do it I can think of.
I hope my explanation is clean and clear.
thanks for the detailed explanation I guess I'll do it that way.
But the downside that you have to keep the mails on the server still stays this way. I'd really love the option to do a real sync how you expect a sync to be but I guess thats complicated or doesnt work?
I mean like.. when I'm at home .. I download the mails from my desktop pc over usb or wlan. Then I download new emails while I'm travelling or smth - and when I get back home I sync my desktop with the phone emails.
This must work somehow? I'd really hate to have to leave my emails on the server since I got bad experience with this.
I guess I'm just beeing paranoid - but I'm also perfectionist heh, so I'd love to try n get it going "the perfect way" - aka a real offline sync without usage of any server storage. (unless you count my desktop as a server..)
If you setup the system to use smtp on the phone it will dowbload the email, other than that i would suggest using a very good password.

setting up Hotmail account

So I finally got fed up with not being able to send emails through my hotmail account on my phone. I set it up as POP3. I also got fed up with my messages being deleted without me actually deleting them.
I did a quick search about trying to set up my hotmail account and didn't really find an answer. I don't want to root my phone just to get my e-mail to work. I don't want to go through a 3rd party (App via market) to get my e-mails. Is there really no way that I can get my hotmail to actually work on my phone??? I mean this is ridiculous. Something as simple as e-mail doesn't work properly.
I've had my hotmail account for over 10 years and it is my main e-mail.
I use MSN and have no issues. Only thing I had to change in the stock mail app was the Security type from SSL to TLS for the outgoing server.
thanks that actually worked.
