Calorie counter Meal Diary App - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi
Does anyone know of a good calorie tally app for WM? I used to have meal diary on the iphone. It was a simple tally where you just type in a number and it adds it to a total. This number is stored when the program is exited.
It enables you to keep a running total of anything.
Cheers
Paul

I tried out about three for my girlfriend. All of them were awful. Bad interface, large to install, errors in the code... pointless.
Other than SportPal which is only good when you're running / walking, Ive not found one good helth app at all.

VidaOne diet and fitness is good one. You can sync with your pc if you install tbat version as well.

Thanks. Will try it.

Any decent cycling/training GPS software?

Something that records distance, average speed, total height climbed/descended, graphical outputs of speed v distance etc?
I've found a few different programs, but nothing that's amazing.
Anyone have any ideas? Cheers.
Lemme know if you find one u like, k?
Have you tried Memory Map. I use for hill walking and provides everything you ask for. Needs to be on Windows Mobile device.
Have you tried RunGPS?
I tried VisualGPS, TurboGPS and some other free ones and they are all kinda lousy for tracking stats while jogging. But RunGPS looks like it will work well. I downloaded it but I haven't taken it on a test run yet.
Yeah, Memory Map is good, but it doesn't do everything that I'd like. For example, I don't think you can get an graph of your speed v time etc, or elevation v time (like the application on the N95). It is very good for navigation though.
I'll have to try RunGPS.
James, have a look at TerraTrack, it's reasonably good. It gives you a colour coded route depending on speed etc. Not quite perfect for what I'm looking for though, but probably the best so far.
Hi,
Memory Map is okay. It will provide a track of where you have been, average speed, total ascent/descent, distance travelled etc. However, it is fairly limited in that it is not really designed for that. It is primarily a navigation tool.
The best thing I have found and use (only recently though) is RunGPS which Andy suggests. It is specifically designed as a training tool with a bit of navigation bolted on. It basically has a few main screens. They are
Recorder:- this is split into 8 areas where you can display speed, distance, altitude, calories, av speed, max speed etc. There are quite a lot of choices here to display so it is very customisable for your needs.
Navigation:- shows a map with a cursor following your route. You can import Google Maps or use open maps (mainly show roads so not great for off road navigation). Like memory map it will allow you to follow pre planned routes. It also has a compass on this screen.
Map:- basically a full screen map.
When riding you can record laps (ideal for timing yourself up your local favourite hill) and you can even set it up to race yourself over your favourite routes. Each run can be imported into Google Maps if you want to share where you have been with friends. There is even a web site where you can upload your routes.
A good feature of it is that you can produce a training report for each run you do (produced on a web page). It gives you a breakdown of the run based on
Speed
Calories
Altitude
Map of your route
The main recording screen has large buttons for starting and stopping your training and a split/lap button. You can set it to give an audible report of your speed, distance etc every 5, 10, 20 minutes (I use this on the road bike as I have my phone in my pocket).
Certainly for anyone riding competively it gives you most of the info you would ever need to analyse you training. The only thing you don't get is heart rate. However, you can sync you heart rate readings with this software.
Basically this software gives you all the info you would get from a cycle computer or one of the Garmin devices on your phone.
Have a look at their web site, it has screen shots and you can trial the software for 14 days.

I am just floored on how well the GPS works with rungps. I ususally am stuck waiting for a minute at least while in clear view of the sky to connect to GPS with google maps, Microsoft Live, visualgps, turbogps, and a few other free ones I cant remember the names of,,,,,but with RunGPS is connects in a seconds even if I'm not outside............
I cant wait to take it out for a jog tomorrow.
Thanks for the detailed post! I've had a play, and it looks perfect for what I want, thanks for the suggestion! Do you know what the difference between "cycling". "mountainbiking" and "race-biking" is?

I could pretend to be all knowledgable here however to be honest I had not noticed the other options!!
I would hazard a guess they are linked to the calorie side of things. I was actually thinking about that today when I was out on my mountainbike slogging up a muddy track at 3mph. Obviously riding up a similar hill on the road would expend less calories so I am guessing the formula that works out the categories allows for this.
I guess cycling is perhaps for general leisure riding and race biking is for going a bit harder.

I thought this too at first, but surely calorie count is basically very similar regardless of the bike used? Sure, the bike's weight and efficiency will have an effect, but not enough to warrant 3 different cycling settings? You would use more calories pushing harder, but that would be reflected in your speed readings from the GPS?
Either way, cheers for the info about the software. Just what I was looking for
Hi,
Yes between cycling normally and racing on the road their should really be no difference.
However, you go considerably slower off road because of the conditions, so unless the program knows this it will think you are going less hard than on the road. Without a heart rate input (like on a Polar or similar) the program can't really know how hard you are pushing based purely on speed and altitude gained or lost.
Regards
I use Vidaone's (www.vidaone.com) MY Sport Training, this is quite an indepth program, with GPS / Polar HRM plugins also with a Windows Synchable desktop part.
I believe that they also do a diet app that also interfaces with My Sport Training.
SC
Or sportypal, almost the same type as Rungps, but with more options, and easy way for setting up goals.

Personal Medical Database w/ Reminders

I'm looking for a simple application that can track things like your medications (with system reminders to take your pills) and personal stats. I'd need to record, and possibly graph, blood pressure and heart rate, weight, and other things that need to be tracked.
My doctor has asked me to keep a record of my daily blood pressure and weight. I built an Excel mobile spread sheet record, but it just doesn't cut it.
I'm also taking several medicines at different times of the day. It's hard to remember when to take them. It would be nice if my phone would go off when it's time to take another pill. I'd use my Calender, but that just clogs it up and interferes with my appointments.
I would build an application for myself, but it's been a really long time since I've programmed, and I don't know where to start.

Android gym/workout application

Hi guys, just wondering if any of you know any good gym/workout applications for our sony x10's? Kinda have been searching for one where you can record how many reps and distances etc and basically keep track of your heath and fitness progress.
Any help in my search is appreciated. Thanks

try "Nike BOOM" ...
I use bodybuilder, its not free but i find it very useful for weight training. Im not sure if there is a cardio feature.
JEFIT
jefit - 100% hands down best gym app out there...
used to be droidfit and it was a bit crap, but they've really got their act together, and it's now awesome...
Does:
supersets
pyramids
1RPM calc
optional animations
set timer
more
more
more
Edit:: oh, and it's also free (as in beer)
Jefit and CardioTrainer are both excellent programs.
I use them both regularly.
Thanks for all route help guys. So far I've found jefit to be the best one for logging work out sessions as droidfit has now been removed and merged with jefit. Nike BOOM is not much, just a work out session monitor for sports but has a cool feature where it plays music and motivational stuff. But it has a large data usage. I've also downloaded mens health app which is great for bodybuilding and targeting particular muscle groups, not a great logger though.
I think so far jefit is the go!

CardioTrainer also has intergrated music. Use the feature all the time and it works well.
Jefit obviously does not.
I usually have CT running for a calorie count and music, and I have the Pro version so use it for interval training as well (There are several other free HIIT apps that intergrate music, but I use CT all the time so decided to upgrade and have it all in one app)
But use Jefit to keep track of routines, reps, weight etc.
Good luck
You'd better try new (relatively new) app called Jucy play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sappadev.sappasportlog which is way more intuitive and user friendly than Jefit. Jefit is targeted more to professional sportsmen, it's overloaded with too many unnecessary features that most of us won't ever use. Being simple, Jucy has much more efficient graphs and the most flexible exercises setup: you can choose whatever measure you want for each exercise -- distance and calories (for cardio or swimming), weight and reps and time for power-lifters and much more.
I've tried a few fitness apps for Android and I find Gymprovise to be the best by far. Have been using it for a few months now. Looks very sleek and makes it really easy to track while you're in the Gym. Got plenty of features too - like exercise rest timer & stopwatch, and lets me log my cardio as well. I bought the paid version, but I think they have a free version now too

Diary App for Tab

Has anyone started to use a Daily Dairy on their Tab?
As a professional I make a lot of hourly/daily notes, take photo's and voice notes. As such now I have a Tab I would like to utilize the hardware and use it's multimedia tools to help run my daily dairy.
I have tried doing this using a calendar but it interferes with my day-to-day running and items such as photo's and voice notes is basically a non-starter.
Any recommendations guys?

Have you looked at UM Diary? Not tried it in anger, but it looks pretty good on the Tab.
Regards,
Dave
"Note Everything" by SoftXPerience may be an alternative, depending on how you like your interface. The free version only gets you text, voice, and fingerpainting notes, but the full version also gets you photo notes, checklists, and encryption.
I've also heard good things about Evernote.
There seems to be a lot of option with that one...
Thanks Guys... Couldn't reply earlier, xda-devs was running at overcapacity.
I tried UM Diary last week but had issues with the widgets.
I did like the way it showed the diary in a calendar but it felt disjointed.
Note Everything seems to have things happening all over the place but I'll look into it.
Evernote is a tool that looks like it has too much to offer in what I am looking for but appreciate as above the ideas.
I liked the simplicity of Diary on the SGS but sadly it did not save the notes for backup, did not allow voice notes nor did it offer photo additions.
I suppose what I am seeking is something simple to load, look at and use like the SGS's Diary which can take my notes and thoughts be that written spoken or photographed and have them displayed in a date fashion with a good search tool.
Then again... maybe I have taken away any form of simplicity.
I'm a huge fan of Evernote, I typically use it just to jot down random thoughts or grocery lists, but the tagging feature makes all the difference in the world. It's free, give it a couple days and see if it grows on you. I spent a good month testing note/diary programs and couldn't find anything else even close (with a professional looking interface and such). I doubt I'll ever try anything else.
You are the second user to recommend Evernote.
Can't help but feel it's overkill in what I am looking for.
I don't need any of the tools it offers.
I've come across 'Diaro - diary writing' which is straight to the point, allows unlimited photo's (unlike UM Diary which only allows 2), has an excellent search and you can add all manner of notes ~ be that written, photos, videos, sound, etc.
I'm not totally sold on it though, hence my continued search.
I'll have another look at Evernote.

Fitness Apps? Other Apps?

Hey guys, new to the S2, and smartwatches, etc. What fitness apps are recommended? S-Health on it doesn't seem to do much, and the heart rate monitor only checks when I hit the widget... Sooo pretty much only step count right out of the box.
While I'm at it, what other apps are recommended? I do not need notifications for anything outside of text and calls, so anything like that is unnecessary. But I am trying to get the most out of this thing, so let me know!
Please and thanks!
Seriously, nothing? Are there no apps to recommend?
It depends what are you looking for. I saw some apps, but haven't tried them (I use special watch for sport tracking):
- Fit Evolution
- Lifesum
- Nike
- PEAR
... Search App Manager for fitness.
Thanks. I did a search too, but I was hoping some people could tell me what's good or not. Most have good and bad reviews. Guess I'll just start trying things

S Health and Nike are the two apps that come with the watch, and as others have noticed, a number of other more specialized apps are dribbling out. S Health automatically checks heart rate (you can set it to "try" to measure every 10 minutes or every hour throughout the day), and also has routines the user can initiate for running, walking, cycling, hiking, elliptical, exercise bike, step machine, and treadmill. All of them record heart rate, some of them more: cycling, for example, also tracks your route, altitude, and speed throughout your ride.
Any apps out there for measuring rowing?? Besides heart rate, that is.

Something I would like to. I'd really also like something that senses and accounts for other types of exercises outside of running/biking/etc., such as lifting weights, sit-ups, these kinds of things. Fitbit offers this with their Alta (who knows how well it works though...). At least something that you can enter in the reps, etc. for each workout and calculates calories burned.
Does Strava work here?
I've released two fitness apps so for: Always-On Speed and Always-On Pace. They don't track your activity though, all they do is show current time and your speed or pace.
When I bike, I use Endomondo on my phone for tracking and Always-On Speed on my watch so that I can always see the most important instantaneous information, which is time and speed, of course
Apps I Use Daily
Daily Usage Apps, Professional & Personal
- S Health (does the tracking I need at work, home, etc. love it so much.)
- Workout Trainer (helps me work out daily, even with only 5 minutes of time)
- Lifesum (track food)
- Heart Rate
- Water & Caffeine Intake
- Tip Calculator
- Here Maps
- Flipboard
I'm looking into others but these I use a lot.
Endomondo will be released soon for the Gear S2 and S3.
My apps (Always-On Speed and Always-On Pace) have been there for while.
UnderArmour just released MapMyRun and Endomondo.
I have been using SHealth for a while to track runs. It works, doesn't use too much battery, but I have a lot of issues with the way they present data. Like splits and pace are in miles per hour and there is no way to see your actual average pace while running (only an instantaneous pace, which jumps all over the place). Also the watch only displays one thing at a time, so elapsed time is on one screen and you have to move to another screen to see distance, which is annoying. Then you have to mentally do the math to figure out your average min/mile pace, which on a 20 mile run gets harder and harder to do as mental function starts to break down...
I just downloaded MapMyRun (never used it before) and I like the interface better. It allegedly connects to SHealth so I can store my history of workouts there. It also displays elapsed time and distance on the same screen in big bold numbers, which is nice. Also has an average pace if you swipe down. We will see, I'll try using it for a while.
S Health distance and heartrate are not accurate. Off by .5 for a 1.5 walk and heartrate 30 plus more that it measures manually.
Yes, i agree with rogerperk and it's impossible to change manualy the distance after the run, sad. I hope it'will be updated soon bacause in other ways, it's a good app.
