Had a quick question, I was going through the ROM wiki and came across this ROM, I really would like to flash to it but I wanted to find out if it modifies the radio at all, I have been weary about flashing ROM's that mod the radio as well since it seems to be almost the only way to brick a Hero from what I have been reading.
The only thing I can think of would be if the other name for radio is baseband, but I wanted to ask before something bad happened If no radio mod is in it, I will be flashing as soon as I find out
never mind, my question was answered

As most of us know Tmobile released an app that is supposed to help with battery drain and apps running in the background: Device tune up.
The article at tmobile says not to use with custom loaded software and i was just curious if someone has used it with Cyanogenmod eclair rom. IF so has it caused any problems?
I searched and noone has stated whether they encountered any problems when using with custom so don't tell me to do a search. thank you
find the link below

Yes, I looked through that thread before I posted this topic. Noone in that thread states if they are using a custom rom.
So again is anyone using device TuneUp with custom roms.
Do not pooint me to another thread unless someone in that thread says that are using it with a custom rom. Even if their signature says they are using a custom rom that's jot good enough for me. Some people don't update their sig.

So y not ask someone in the thread
oh cool! didnt know they came out with this!
Has anyone put together a list of what roms need what radio to go with it? I know a lot of people list what's needed but some don't. Is there a rule of thumb that falls into play?

There's one floating around with all the radios. A general rule of thumb is gingerbread roms use the MR2 radio and newer. Hope that helps.

Can't go wrong with MR2. It was the 2nd radio released and has worked with everything out there.
Backup
Thanks for the reply.
One other thing on my mind is. Currently I'm still running the stock radio. If I create a backup using rom manager before putting the new radio on. Will the restore bring back the old radio as well? Or would that have to be done manually? I'm not sure exactly what gets backed up.

Someone already answered you No in another thread. But I will answer here also in case of some Guests who are viewing looking for an answer.
You have to flash it each time you want to change the radio. It is a separate file must be flashed when you want a change. ROM Manager will not restore radios.
I feel bad posting this, because it's such a noob question. I've done quite a bit of searching, but everything I've found assumes you already know how to do it.
How, exactly, do I update my radio? I don't even know what that means, let alone how to do it. I just know that I need to update my radio to l272ULCE (that was from memory, forgive any mistakes) to use cyanogenmod 9. I don't know where I would find an update, and if I did I wouldn't know how to install it.
Thanks for reading this. Sorry I can't find it myself.

A radio can be flashed (updated) in recovery just like any other flashable zip. Radios, unlike kernels, are not packaged in with a rom zip so if you're flashing between roms that require different radios, you'll have to manually flash the radio as well. Here's the link to the ucle2 radio from the dev section:

i flashed teh latest version of the blackbean rom yesterday (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954276)
and if my one s falls asleep it stops tethering, if i wake it again its working again.
is that a cm10 problem or did i do sth wrong?
I'm pretty sure its because the ROM flashes a new radio. Specifically the 1.08ts which turns off the data when the screen is off. Its to help prevent people from tethering. There is an apk on the play store that you can use to prevent this, however I can't for the life of me think of the name or you can flash one of the zjps on the blackbean forum that let's you change radios.

There are also radio zips in the CM10 thread to change it back...need to flash after each Rom flash

Please remember the app name, it would help so many of us out here.

can't find it, maybe anyone knows the name? otherwise i gotta flash some other rom, but this one's pretty smooth so i would really like to stick to it!
Hey guys sorry I can't find the name. It was in one of these forums but as I'm sure you know searching them is easier said then done. Try the modified radio zips they are in the cm10 forum. Either in the general cm10 discussion or the development one. If you get really desperate just check the 'screen always on' box in setting under developer options.

I'm new to this rooting business and after a slow start I managed to Root and flash my first ROM at the weekend. I used Vipers 1.6.3 which, after some research, I gather is a pretty old version. I'm still impressed though even if it is some of their older work but the one issue I've been having is with my mobile data speed. I haven't been getting anything above E/G speed wise and I've found it quite frustrating. I'm gonig to update to version 3.1.4. when I get back home but do you think this will resolve the issue? Is there a setting or something that I need to be aware of that controls maximum data speed.
Sorry if this is a complete noob question but I'm doing my best with searches and guides but I'm not finding anything particulary helpful.

OK would the latest radio's not have been included inthe zip files then?
I was going to download the rom from this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216858
I can't see any information about radio's in there. It does mention about ICS non compatible kernals. This is confusing me further. How do I know what kernal I'm currently on. Once again.....sorry for the noobness but after the drama I've had just getting this far I'm nervous about messing it up.

Hey,
Did you try a full wipe so you know for sure it's not the problem of the rom, just make a nandroid backup in your recovery(4ext recovery is higly recommended)
Also another trick,
As you know the back of the sensation is also the antenna...
You can try to gently clean the gold spots.
About the radio take a look at here it says when you have the wrong radio it can cause bad reception so it can be the problem.!

try preferring cdma in quick settings
For me that did the trick, but now that i updated to 3.1.4 this option seems to be missing, so maybe obsolete and handled automatically as i have no issues without it.
