Hi!
I know there are many people thinking the same than me. I have a TouchWiz based phone (Samsung GT-S5600 Preston). It looks nice, has some nice features but you can't get any of those great applications that are available for Android, WM or even iPhone - like a car navigation software etc.
So is there a way to replace TouchWiz and install Android on it?
I mean Samsung has already one Android phone (I7500), I can't imagine that the hardware components are so much different to the S5600/Preston or other newer Samsung phones.
Has anyone experience with this?
Thanks
Hi, we have the same problem.. hope that some one will port the android to preston 5600..
I'm assuming you want the Android interface and not Android OS itself (which isn't availlable and most doubtfully will ever be available for your phones). But even that isn't possible (at least that I know of)... While there are today plugins with those features for WinMo your're stuck on a Symbian phone...
it is not a symbian phone, and the specs are, in my opinion, enough for the phone to support an alternative OS (not just an interface) such as android donut or probably WinMo 6.1.
By the way, I was in the same situation looking for another OS for this phone
Is there any possibility of dual-booting IOS and and WP7 on an iPhone 4? I'm really interested in playing the Xbox Live games on my iPhone. So that's my main goal. If there is another way to do this, I would be interested in the info. Thanks!
Most likely not. Android can be ported to the iPhone because it is open source whereas windows phone 7 os is very much closed source.
Also, windows phone has special hardware requirements and, if im not mistaken, the Iphone 4 does NOT use the same qualcomm chipset as windows phone.
You would also have issues with your hi-res screen becasue windows phone only supports WVGA at the moment.
So it is probably not possible,
Sorry.
Without any source it won't be possible at all. That's why people have been successful in porting Android to the iPhone series.
Thanks. I figured that there was probably a reason why it hadn't been done yet. I appreciate the info!
Why dont ya just get a windows phone?
Ported OS to another phone will never work as smoothly as a real device dedicated for the job.
If you seen android running on the iPhone it was never really that usable. Even when i had the HD2 Android was still buggy and laggy.
May later be
moved to Q&A
There is OS7, but it is a visual port only and still works just like iOS under the hood. I used it for a while on my iPhone 4.
i've wondering if it's possible to make an Android ROM based on Honeycomb for Tablet have it running on a nokia n800? what do i need? if this is possible, nitdroid project has not been active for the n800 port, i have seen some video showing n800s running eclair or even froyo, but this people doesnt responde at all, nitdroid says the n800 port has been stopped and instead n900 port is in the making, i wanna give a try for myself if something can give me some guidance i would appreciate it so much
Thanks so much in advance
BTW
I managed to install nitdroid on my n800,. but we are talking about donut, and is kinda slow , dont have sound at all, and the main objective is to ditch maemo and to have android as primary OS in the tablet, before getting enough money to buy a MMP powered with android, like the samsung galaxy player 50 or some other android device equally small like the n800
Thanks again guys for any help
Hello , XDA-developers and other members.
I'm new here, I registred because I have some questions about Android OS.
I have Nokia N95 phone, and I want to port Android to that phone. I searched a lot , but one said fake, one said that can do , I don't know what to think.
So my question is can I port Android to Nokia N95 ?
My phone (N95) can run Android , but I don't found way to do it.
Is there way to do it ?
Thanks in advance, all xda-developers.

No, you can't. The handset was specifically designed for Symbian. There are no compatible drivers or etc. I have heard of this b4, as my dad used to own an Nokia N95. I just think it's a clever UI demo cobbled together so he can get posts on youtube.
Offtopic: Or.. who knows, maybe he is a brilliant scientist that works for Nokia now and making millions )) We may never know.
IT IS POSSIBLE: CPU, GPU DRIVERS ARE COMPATIBLE, not like Spooky_Ghosty said. But if you want to port Android, you will need to compile Linux Kernel (you need a PC running Linux based OS), you will need a program that can boot Linux Kernel on Symbian (something like HAReT for booting Linux on Windows Mobile, but for Symbian here is no program like HAReT). It is very hard, but it is POSSIBLE. Why do you haven't bought Siemens in "old times"?
2004's phone "SIEMENS & HTC Blue Angel" can run Android easy;
2002's devices SIEMENS 600, 710, 718, 720 can run Android easy;
but 2007's Nokia - very hard to run Android on it.

well, i think this is the answer.
but why 2007's Nokia is very hard to run Android??
i think the new one is the better one
Hey Guys does anybody know that if lumia 710 can be dual booted(windows phone+android os) as htc-hd2(can check on youtube)??
Developers like ultrashot,lucifer3006,dft has blessed us with huge utilities of wp7 but can they make "THIS" happen????
Pretty unlikely. You'd have to make an Android firmware for the Lumia, which would require a bunch of drivers that aren't available. The HD2 is relatively easy to port to because there are lots of Android phones from HTC, plus people know a lot about the HD2's internals and can use tools like HaRET to study it. None of that is currently true with the Lumias.
That said, somebody could surprise me. Just don't hold your breath.

LOL DUDE!!! Symbian Devices from Nokia has locked UBOOT bootloaders, so Installing android on them is not possible. Maybe you are pointing at Nokia N9 which is not a symbian phone, and it runs on MeeGo OS which is Linux-based... Like he said earlier, Installing android on Lumia is not possible yet, but let's wait for our friendly devs to fix that... hehe
