So one of the members purchased this and was humble enough to write about it.. thanks andythefan

I bought the Boxwave anti-glare protector a few months ago and was largely dissatisfied with the way it made the screen look and have since then preferred not having a protector on as well as how expensive it was.
I just received these in the mail and applied it in a few seconds. I was a bit worried when I read that it was normal for these protectors to get scratches themselves, but I was glad I bought these for so cheap.
For me the saying, "you get what you pay for" has always applied when I buy things online, but these are already making an exception.
Short Review:
As soon as I opened the package it seemed like I got a lot more than I for as it includes clear instructions, a small cloth, an applicator and a three layer protector.
Application:
Applying the protector is snap! It virtually applied itself and bubble were an absolute minimum, if any are caught a few swipes of the applicator card took care of them. Amazingly enough I had a lot less bubbles than on my Boxwave protector.
Appearance:
It's as advertised, 100% and virtually invisible. It also minimizes the appearance of smudges and prints, but there are still there.
Feel:
It takes a few seconds to get used to, but after that you can't even tell it's there. Granted it doesn't have the smooth plastic feel that others have, and is more of the glass that is on a stock Nexus, there's less friction on the screen and swiping a slightly easier.
Price:
For a penny for all three (not including shipping), these can't be beat! I'd happily buy these for more that advertised.

They make their money back on shipping.

i bought my x3 off ebay for 1.02$ free shipping fit perfect, not a single bubble, people ask if its even on there

Screen protectors

So just picked one of these fellas for £115! (rude not to ) and one of the first things I am going to need is to protect it, anyone got any ideas where in the UK these might be found?
O_O where u got it for that money ??
OT try ebay...
Yup, go on ebay. The cheap ones are just that! CHEAP! Scratch very easily etc.
What you need is the 3M Vikuiti screen protectors, expensive yes but these screen protectors last ALOT longer and generally are alot better. I have had one on my old phone for nearly two years and it's still fine!

3M are not some fly by night company. Very well respected all over the world.
http://solutions.3m.co.uk/wps/porta...home/products-solutions/protection-and-films/
Also on ebay, each protector is £8. If anything, I bet Martin Fields use 3M vikuiti films anyway lol
The Folix screen protectors and excellent, and very cheap from Amazon :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/FX-CLEAR-screen-protector-Toshiba-TG01/dp/B002Y35E9I - Glossy look, like an iPhone screen, gets instantly covered in finger grease
http://www.amazon.co.uk/FX-ANTIREFLEX-antireflective-screen-protector-Toshiba/dp/B002Y2P43K - Matte look, like a none-glossy-LCD, doesn't attract finger-grease
I've got the matte one on my TG01 and it's excellent. They're very (very !) similar to the Brando units, and come complete with a cleaning cloth.
Cheers for the links, but I don't think ya can beat the deal posted in the cases thread for 3 cases and screen protectors for £8!

I was the person who posted about the 3 cases plus 3 protectors for £8.
I haven't had any experience of the very expensive (some are over £12 each) screen protectors, but I struggle very hard to think of a way in which they could be better than the cheaper ones.
After all, we are just talking about a piece of thin transparent electrostatic plastic film. My cheap ones are a perfect fit for the TG01 (including the cut-outs); they were supplied with protective film front and back; they each came with a small microfibre cleaning cloth. They are totally unobtrusive in use (it doesn't affect screen taps, and I use a stylus for most of my text entry, using Letter Recogniser, with no problems). They also last very well (based on my experience using similar cheap protectors on my previous phones).
I do wonder whether there is some self justification involved in believing that because you paid a lot of money for something, it therefore has to be better than a cheaper one, rather than just marketing hype.

That's what I thought, the cheap ones will do the job the same as the more expensive ones but quite simply, the 3M vikuiti ones are much better!
Th cheap one takes longer to install as it's a nightmare to get the air bubbles out, the 3M's adhesive absorbs a little air and the rest is easy to expel!
Secondly the cheap ones are already scuffed and scratched to the point I can just about make out whats written on the screen whereas the 3M one, I used for 2 years, with pens, pencils, keys etc and no scratches whatever, except a tiny 2mm scratch caused by using a scalpel as a stylus.....
if u dont buy the cheapest ones , ull be all good , theyre all good quality except the few cheapest ones , but if it isnt , u wont see thru it ... i made that mistake once went for the cheapest and pixels were just swimming among each other ...
be careful on eBay
some screen protectors are realy cheap , I buyed 3 for 2€
he has a smouth texture, with verry high grip ......
I have to remove it because I can't switch menus in SPB, my finger grippen on screen ....

I've had the same problem with a glossy screen protector in the past.
The matte Folix model from earlier in the thread, doesn't have this problem.
I use the martin fields overlay plus, and it has been well worth the extra over the cheaper protectors. I have tried a couple of cheap ones and I have to ditch them after 2 weeks or so. The martin fields protector is still going strong after a couple of months!!

Price it's better than Martin Fields (and I wonder if raw material is the same, nothing on the Martin's Web Page) , so give us a feedback !! Perhaps next screen portectors will be from them....
Thanks for all
The Nokia N800 tablet and TG01 have virtually the same sized screen both being specified at 4.1 inches diagonally and having the same aspect ratio (800x480 pixels). I did pick up a protector for my N800 from eBay 6 months ago and it is still in very good, scratch free condition after a lot of stylus abuse - cost £2.29 including postage. Sadly the seller (personalmobiles) doesn't have any in stock, but it might be worth chasing them up.
PS. I'm picking up a Toshiba TG01 from an Orange store in South Yorkshire tomorrow morning for £150 + £10 for a SIM.

High-end screen protectors... do you have one?

There are the 5-for $5 screen protectors, and then there are the zagg/martin fields/etc ones which average about $10 for 1.
They all claim some fantastical properties (they protect helicopter blades, they have this-and-that coatings, anti scratch, anti glare, leap tall buildings in a single bound...)
I'd like to know -
do you have one?
which?
what do you think of it?
would you recommend it?
TNX
I had a brando ultraclear on my touch dual and now a martinfield, i can see the difference between the cheap one
Cheap or expensive, the real problem is getting the damn thing on properly. I prefer five cheap chances to one expensive.
I say what ever you do avoid the anti-glare ones. They make the screen very grainy... I'd rather not be able to see the screen in the sun than have a pixelated screen at all times.
Also avoid forever fitters from my experience. I've just ordered Brando Ultra Clear for my phone. Should arrive next week.
I have a Martin Fields one. It was really easy to apply, plus it came with an additional protector for the camera lens. I recommend it.

Also, very good customer service.

Steinheil Ultra Series Screen Protectors

Steinheil has their Ultra-Clear screen protectors available for the DROID Charge. I just ordered one and I'm hoping it works out better than the ZAGG Invisibleshield did on my Fascinate. See here
I put their incredible shield plus the ultracrystal screen protector on my Fascinate, and absolutely love it. The tacky feeling around the phone is nice for grip (especially with games) but still can slide in my pocket. And of course, the screen protector itself is smooth as glass.
Nice to see it coming out so soon for the Charge, it was weeks before the Fascinate's was available.
I swear by Steinheil. I love the way they glide onto the surface, no hassle and no bubbles.
Which version have people tested? I see they have 3 types.

I got the ultra-crystal as I didn't want any distortion to the screen and don't really care about fingerprints as they can always be wiped off.
I know I'm double posting, but I wanted to bump this to share. I got my screen protector in the mail yesterday afternoon and was able to put it on my phone last night. The ultra-crystal protectors are THICK, much thicker than I was expecting. Installation was fairly simple, didn't have to turn my phone off or anything, which is nice coming from ZAGG. There is no distortion to the screen at all, and you can barely tell that I even have a screen protector on it. I unfortunately got a small piece of dust that I can't get off at the bottom edge and that is the only place you can really see that something is covering the screen. Will see how it holds up over the next week or two, now that I'll be a little less careful since the screen won't get scratched.

I love it too, and the areas that weren't fully pressed down due to what I thought was dust disappeared, so I guess it just took a little time to fully fasten itself. The fit is almost 100% matched to the glass, so you really have to look to see that it's even there.
Looks like they are temporarily out of the Ultra Crystal. I was going to pull the trigger and that option is gone...
Edit:Well, it looks like the full-body shields ship with the UC screen protector, if you wanted full coverage.
Quick question: do these shields cover or interfere with the front-facing camera? From the illustrations, it looks like the shield covers the front camera.

It covers the camera, but the protector is completely clear, and although I haven't taken any pictures with the FFC, the image displayed on the screen when using it doesn't show any distortion.

They're sold out of their stock on sgpstore.com but I grabbed one off Amazon (sold by SGP Store, stocked by Amazon) yesterday with free shipping (got a compatible HDMI cable and TPU case with it to make $25) and it shipped today. Where was that?! I just spent a good twenty minutes looking on Amazon for it and didn't see it anywhere...are these really worth the price? I assume yes, given the reaction you all have to Steinheil's products, but thought I'd ask.
I got the ultra crystal. I can barely tell it's there. Lots of finger prints... but I don't mind too much.
How does Steinheil compare to Bodyguardz, Zaggs, BSE, or clean protector?
I ask cuz I'm looking for full body protector? Plus does anyone have discount codes?
If you can wait a week or so just get some decent cheap ones off ebay like these
http://cgi.ebay.com/5-CLEAR-Screen-...238019?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a66966f03
I ended up ordering some of the ultra crystal from amazon and am very impressed.
I am less impressed with my skills, I managed to get a little piece of dust on my second attempt to apply... but other than that the thing is perfect, and my dust ended up being in a corner so i didn't want to waste another protector.
Definitely worth the money, all other protectors "ruin" the screen for me, its such a nice screen, but it still needs protection.
I had a good experience with Zagg, but hated the rubbery feel. So, I was looking into getting a Steinheil protector.
Any stores carry these like Best Buy does Zagg? Or is it online only?
I bought the cheap 3 pack from Verizon to hold me over and ugh. Super clear, but bubbles on the edges are almost impossible to prevent. I love the texture better than zagg, but there is some glare outdoors.
Is it possible to get these cheap ones on with the edges coming up? I ask because I don't think I ever seen a phone without the bubbles on the edges.

MIME Ghost Glass Screen Protector

I was leaning toward the SGP, but after doing some Google research I came across this company. People said they were happy with the product, but more importantly, their customer service is outstanding.
Last night I bit the bullet and ordered mine. I'll update this thread when it comes in next week, but the reason I wanted to post something now was because I've already experienced some of that great customer service.
So after I placed my order last night around 11:30pm eastern (same time zone they're in), I noticed a typo in my shipping address. I used their "contact us" form on the website to mail the correction, would you believe it, they sent me back a response 10 minutes later. They're a small company, and their desire to stand out shows.
Anyway, here's the link to the protector: http://mimeusa.com/product/galaxy-s4-ghost-glass-tempered-glass-screen-protector/
Also, they sell what appear to be the same aluminum, black, and white home buttons that you can get at SGP. The difference being MIME sells them for $2.50 (or $1 if you buy a protector) with free shipping. http://mimeusa.com/product/aluminum-home-button-for-galaxy-s4/
Lastly, here's a review I found: http://www.runaroundtech.com/2013/01/12/mime-hdt-c-glass-screen-protector-for-iphone-5-review/
I already received a tracking number this morning (they use USPS, so I guess they can ship on Saturdays). I'll post an update when the protector arrives!
------------------------------------------
UPDATE:
The protector has arrived and it seems pretty good. They even included a little note in the box, which was a nice personalized touch.
It doesn't add as much weight as I expected, and the cutouts are ample enough to not block any sensors. Now in my case, I did apply it just a little bit too high and it makes the bottom 1/10th of the front camera a little blurry, but it's not really noticeable. That's my fault. Don't make the same mistake I did.
You can see in the close-ups that it's just a tiny bit narrower than the screen itself, so you should be able to use a case without any issues.
It's 0.32mm thick and has rounded edges, so it's thinner than the SGP GLAS.tR, $7 cheaper, and is backed by much better customer service.
I'm pleased with it, and it's staying on my phone permanently. Recommended! :good:
We already seem to have a MIME Rep among us, helping members out! - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2264207
I'll wait for your thoughts on it! I want to decide between MIME and Spigen Glas.tr
MIME is the better quality imo.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have many app ideas, but don't have the skill or the time to learn how to make an app. if you would like to know an idea and attempt to make one, just message me.
It's arrived! Mini review added to OP.
is that sticky note, hand-written or is it printed ?
Its hand written, nice addition on creating a personal touch.
was going to get the spigen, but ill give the MIME a shot :good:
True, not sure if glass has any effect on it though.
Does this have the silicone adhesive around just the edge or the entire screen? That was the issue with many s3 glass screens.
They only had adhesive around the edge because of the semi curved displayed, pockets of air would get under the glass and reduce sensitivity.
What is in the second picture?
Does it come with 2?
It has adhesive all around. The box includes a full screen size sticker for you to put on and take off to remove any dust immediately before applying the protector. (I had a friend use a can of compressed air on the phone while I put the protector on.)
If your glass protector ever needs replacing, the box also includes a plastic screen protector, so you don't have to go without any protection while you wait to receive the replacement.
Review: 0.15mm "Flexglass" screen protector $6.49
I've mentioned this on a few threads but I thought I'd share this product with the forum. I have no connection to the manufacturer or this retailer at all. I'm just a customer.
Cybertech 0.15mm Flexglass screen protector.
I searched for the thinnest glass protector that I could find, some were 0.3-.4mm thick. I just saw 0.15mm (about 0.006") and actually didn't notice that it was "Flexglass" and not true glass until recently..
While the thicker glass ones should be better at impact protection, screen scratches are really my concern. After about a month it is doing great with no noticeable scratches. Being plastic I expect that a scratch is likely at some point. It is somewhere in between glass and film style protectors. I has already lasted longer than some pricey films did, and I dislike the marks that fingernails and styluses often made on films, I have a actual glass protector on my Nexus 7 and it feels about the same.
Installation was easy and so far it has remained adhered. I did the tried and true steamy bathroom install to avoid dust specks.
I didn't check it with calipers or anything but 0.15mm seems about right by feel. It doesn't sit above the chrome trim edge at all. It's very thin; it was flexible with a silicone(?) adhesive.
I'd post pics but it is nearly invisible so what's the point? :cyclops:
For &6.49 with free shipping they are so inexpensive I'm probably buying another one just in case. I think I paid a little more a month ago.
There is a suspiciously detailed negative review by a user with only that 1 review. You can make your own call on that...
My experience has been the exact opposite. It feels similar to a bare screen to me.
If anyone else buys/has used it please chime in...
Not sure what he's mad about...its under $10...If you're disappointed, your expectations are a bit high...just my opinion
Yeah that's my thought about it too, for the price it is worth a try. I'm not rich (a wage slave actually) but I'll throw $10-$15 at anything I like the sound of without regrets if it lets me down. But I've seen $0.99 apps get people all steamed up so maybe I'm too easy to please or not frugal enough. Or maybe the internet just tends to bring out the whiner in people.
I've paid $20 for a skin that I peeled off within weeks so I'm pretty stoked to still use this. It has already proven to be worth it's price by my measure.
I've mentioned this on a few threads but I thought I'd share this product with the forum. I have no connection to the manufacturer or this retailer at all. I'm just a customer.
There is a suspiciously detailed negative review by a user with only that 1 review. You can make your own call on that...
My experience has been the exact opposite.
Why not just write a review on Amazon.com to help more people? You could simply copy and paste this review over.
I am the kind of person who prefer to buy a good screen protector/case then use it until I sell my phone. My last screen protector on the Note 2 has been lasted over a year and still perfect. And it's a non-glass type just the regular plastic film.
I always had issues with films, particularly on my Notes. The stylus would leave marks in the films and make weird reflections. I actually rarely used the stylus for that reason. I've had Zagg and a few other $ brands over the years with varying degrees of happiness. I'll see it this thing lasts.
As for a review I may do just that; don;t know why I came here first. It's kinda been the home of all things Android to me for years now I guess
