Vanilla lockscreen bug - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

so im running fresh2.0d and i flashed the Vanilla locksreen to it. the 1st few days it worked amazingly and such. but now its acting up. where the unlock tab is another box just randomly appred and wont go away. emercny call tab is there overlapping it and at the top it says no sim card.

Reboot. Happens when you lose data, like airplane mode or roaming. There's a fix here to remove emergency button completely so no issue, you'd have to search (I cant, just on the phone right now)

Sidekick unknown error on lockscreen

On the lockscreen, on the second slide down thing there is an ! with unknown beside it. After you unlock the phone you can't find that notification any where!
Already checked the notification bar and went and cleared the ram. Still the same. Does anyone know what it is trying to tell me or how to clear it?
I have factory reset the phone one time and it went away, but then came back in a day.
That's where the date goes. I see "unknown" there occasionally. I assume that this is because the phone hasn't gotten the date from the cell network yet, but still has the time cached internally. For me, it generally goes away after a bit.
The one time it didn't go away fairly quickly was when I had Handcent SMS installed and had configured my phone to use it and it's notifications, generally disabling the stock Messaging app and it's notifications. It stayed "unknown" while I had Handcent installed. When I removed Handcent and turned the stock SMS app back on it went back to showing the date.
I didn't test this rigorously, and have no idea if it's causal or just a coincidence. Has anyone else observed behavior like this?
thanks
I'm sure that it's handcent then, I haven't uninstalled it yet. But I bet that's it.
Thanks for the reply. Contacted handcent support about the bug.
I don't think its a handcent issue. I've had the same problem. The only way I got it to go away was to open the stock messaging app and view my last conversation. Then its off the lock screen. Try that. If it works for you...its an issue with stock software. I've had a fewb problems with the stock app. Wish I could just remove it lol

Found it
It seems if you turn off notifications in the Stock messaging app it gets cranky.
I turned them back on and it shows the time on the bottom lock screen.
I then went back and turned them back off and the time stayed, we'll see how long.
This is beyond annoying.
Screenshot, please?
Happns 2 me too glad 2 know I am not alone...

i think that this is a common thing, whenever i dont check my text msg or randomly click the power button, i would see the "!" at the bottom screen..dont know why
I had this problem too on my Sidekick 4G. I am using Handcent but I don't know if that's the cause for me.
What I did to solve this problem: I went into the stock messaging app, into the menu, where I chose "Browser Message". (This menu option is not always present, but apparently shows up when you get a message from your cell carrier.) There was one message listed, and I deleted it. After that, my lock screen displayed the date again.
When you get mms messages, it goes to the stock messaging app as well, so just go in the stock messaging app and view it in there and it will go away. Or, before your SD card loads, messages will go straight to the stock messaging app. Just view all your threads in there, click each one, and the unknown will go away.

[Q] ICS text messaging problems

So I just updated my Atrix 2 to ICS and I cannot do anything regarding text messaging. I have Pansi, Handcent, and the stock app all installed. If I open either handcent or pansi after a few seconds it says the app isn't responding wait or close. If I open the stock app the loading symbol in the top doesn't go away and it doesn't load. If I open up my contacts and try doing it from there I can type out the text but as soon as I press send nothing happens it just freezes.
Also, every time I hang up after a phone call I get the process not responding message and then my phone is completely frozen.
While updating I was stuck on "upgrading media database" for nearly 3 hours and eventually got fed up and took my battery out and removed my SD and SIM cards. When I turned it back on it worked fine. Everything else works as normal.
Suggestions?
Try a factory data reset if nothing works. I think maybe all the databases did not get a chance to upgrade for you. Or if that still doesn't work, use the procedure to re-ics http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32535217

Yeah the factory reset worked. No problems now. Thanks

just installed ICS 4.0.3
sorry to go on. i have just installed ICS 4.0.3 (cleared cache and did factory reset as per guide here) and upon start up to my surprise, auto rotate is still getting stuck! i have notice on camera or say messages when on landscape mode. if i tap the back of my phone after a few taps it will go the right way roun
d,also on camera pictures will come the right way up. This is baffling me now. There was nothing wrong with my phone when i got it few month ago.
Is it the hardware at fault (i have dropped it but in a rubber /plastic case) the odd times.
what would you suggest now?

[Q] Can't clear Voicemail notification

Had HTC for years and am new to Samsung. Picked up my S5 yesterday and can not get rid of the voicemail icon top of screen. Read somewhere to leave a voicemail and then clear it. After I leave a voice mail there is 2 voicemail icons. I can clear the one I just left by sliding it to the right or using the clear button but the other one is still there. I can clear all notifications except for this one. Powered down and on again, still there. What am I missing?
Got the same problem...its probly just from launch being yesterday...just like how long they took to activate...it will disapear soon imo
So....if u long press the notification in the notification bar app info will come up. Then just force close it and the icon will go away

Called Sprint and they said I am first to report this issue. If they hear more reports about it they might do a patch. Not holding breath but we will see.
I also called sprint and they said they had a ton of calls about it and are trying to figure out a solution.

Thank you once again for that suggestion, hadn't worried about this issue for some time but noticed recently that if and when I deactivate the Notify clean xposed module, sure enough I do still have that same stupid erroneous persistent voicemail notification. Did anyone ever find any more permanent way of removing it? Or did it finally get resolved on its own for anyone? I'd hoped that with the ND2 some other updates we'd finally have this issue resolved but apparently not, at least on my device.

[SOLVED] Clearing the Voice Mail Icon (NO Factory reset needed)
First make sure that no voicemail messages are on both the phones voicemail and in the apps voicemail. Notification Icon is still present.
Second - go to Home button > Settings > Application Manager > Scroll to "All" > Voicemail > Clear Cache as well as Clear Data, then uninstall.
Third - Home button > Settings > Application Manager > Scroll to "All" > Phone > Clear Cache as well as Clear Data. Then Turn off, pulled battery, waited 10 secs, put battery back in, and booted up. If the notification is gone proceed to step 4. If not then repeat 1-3 (I didn't have to repeat 1-3).
Fourth - Install Visual Voicemail app for your carrier. Set it up. No notification. Problem fixed.
I did a reboot, no notification. Turned off, pulled battery, waited 10 secs, put battery back in, and booted up. No notification.
My guess is that if someone has a voicemail message that is unchecked, gets a new phone, and installs the app, the notification is stored in 2 places instead of 1. Therefor causing the problem of a notification not going away because you can't clear it from both places at the same time. I have a different carrier than Sprint but my guess is that this will be the same solution for everyone with a Samsung S5. If this doesn't work then my guess would be that there is another app installed on the phone that handles voicemail messages.
Cheers.

Where can I find the voicemail app in the manager if it doesn't show there?
Sorry about replying on an old thread. I have serious battery drain coming out of no where and it happened as soon as this voicemail problem began a few days ago.
Thanks

Black screen after 5.0 update

I received OTA yesterday and so far found one bug. There is a black screen comes up randomly. Top and bottom bars are visible but I can't do anything to get out of it. The only thing that works is restart. I can't pinpoint the app that might be causing it. It happened while updating apps or using Firefox. Anybody else having this issue?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Did you wipe your cash after updating? I had experienced several bags after the OTA update too, but i cleaned cash from the recovery mode and now everything works just fine.
Did wiped cache from recovery mode yesterday and it was OK. Today the black screen issue is back. It's quite annoying having to restart.

Hi there, I am currently having the same bug on my Nexus 4 device.
It appears the same way, with the Softbuttons visibile and the top bar still able to be pulled down. Plus that there is no option if I restart to get my SIM card recognized. Pretty annoying when you have an encrypted nexus device and have to wait 2 minutes to restart with a 40% chance of NOT getting the black screen again.
My assumption is that it has something to do with the kernel. Any suggestions/confirmations?
Best regards

Same problem here... black screen with only softbuttons visible and notification bar working.
I think the problem occurs when an application is in full screen mode (no softbuttons visible) and you do a little swipe to make the softbuttons appear... It must be something with the way the softbuttons overlap the screen, I think.
Any help?
I am also seeing this problem on my Nexus 5 which I flashed the factory image with full wipe. I have had it when exiting apps and also when an app is open it can just happen. If i swipe up from the bottom sometime I get a flash of the screen during the animation so it is as if a layer is over the screen. I hope this is fixed as it is random, this morning it happened and after a reboot i logged in and it happened before I opened an app, reboot, then happened again a few mins later, but after a 3rd reboot has been ok???
For everyone that is experiencing this problem... do you have Tasker installed?
I disabled tasker and since then I don't have this problem... so far.
Still happening once in awhile and I do have Tasker.

It happens to me. My current theory is that, in my case, it may have to do with a profile manager I use which turns the lock screen pattern lock on and off depending on where I am.

I also have tasker, don't want to disable it as I find it too useful, can you keep us all informed if it cures the issue.

I also find tasker very useful.. but I think it was causing the problem. No more black screens since then.
To try to narrow it down even further... do you have a profile to enable/disable the lockscreen in certain situations?

I do use tasker to disable the lock screen, I wish that the smart lock would completley disable the lock screen, and not just the secure section. I will take all the lock screen options out of my tasks and reboot, will test for a few days.
I tested over the weekend and had no black screens with all tasker/secure settings lock screen disables turned off, I left all other actions on , so I think you are correct. actualy got on OK using the smart unlock, although when in my house sometimes GPS is lost so it will relock, but not a real issue. Thanks for the heads up
