Ok, I've been trying out a lot of Hero ROMS and I'm always disappointed in the speed, or lack thereof. Each time I have found myself flashing back to a stable Hero build and then customizing it to my liking (see below). This release is mainly for my own sanity, to save myself the time and effort of getting back to a setup I prefer.
For clarification purposes, I will be referring to these builds as PhotonMod_Hero1 and PhotonMod_Hero1.5
Just understand that v1 is based on LeakDroid's SuperHero3 build and v1.5 is based on JACHero 2.63.
**UPDATE 7/15/09**
As requested, Re-upped PhotonMod_Hero v1 without the Asian IME (pinyinIME.apk). Just be sure to choose English on the first screen of the setup wizard.
PhotonMod_Hero v1:http://www.mediafire.com/?l3inmmtmjzz
NOTE: If you have random Asian characters showing up in odd places, power off the phone and turn it back on. This seems to only happen before the first reboot.
(Reminder, this one does not use AppsToSD. It is basically SuperHeroV3-MAS minus Rosie and all HTC widgets. Also minus swap. and with a few other teaks.)
Also,
Here is "Lite" version of PhotonMod_Hero1.5. I removed the Weather app and widget, and Retro Clock widget.

****UPDATE 7/14/09****
Bluetooth is NOT working in any Hero build at this time
New Build release: PhotonMod_Hero v1.5 - Lite
Based on JACHero2.63 with the following changes:
**Changelog - PhotonMod_Hero1.5 - Lite**
-Removed ALL HTC Widgets
-Replaced HTCCamera with one that works (No sideways image)
-Replaced HtcMusic with old Music app from non-Hero builds (b/c that one is a resource hog!)
-Replaced Rosie with standard Launcher
-Removed Teeter.apk/odex, Stocks.apk/odex, DCS_Stocks.apk/odex
-Removed (commented) Swap partition section in a2sd.sh as I want to try this build out without a Swap partition.
-Added section in a2sd.sh to move a "wallpaper" folder to the FAT32 partition on your SD. That folder contains the wallpapers from the Rosie wallpaper gallery (See Below)
-Added AppsInstaller
-Added Custom Lock Screen
-Added a few "Gems" to the Ringtones/Notifications
To use AppsToSD, make sure you have your SD card setup with Fat32/Ext3 partitions. You will not need a third Linux-Swap partion with this build.
To use new Wallpapers, at the Home screen, press Menu -> Wallpaper. Then choose Albums. You should see a wallpaper folder containing 5 wallpapers.
Thanks to JesusFreke, Haykuro, JAC, Cyanogen, L3wish and the Leakdroid crew, Meltus, and all the other great Devs working to give us the experience we want from our phones.
Rename to update.zip and flash as usual.
you really need to try jac 2.63 with a freshly formatted card and a linux/swap partition. its quite a thrill
Can u put some pics
might give this a try on my other g1...just for fun
i want som pics plzzz !!! and some comments of the one who flashed this .
Fully Functional?
As in Bluetooth working?
Why in the world do you need pics...its hero, duh.
And I have to agree, even 2.63 is quite slow (swapper and a2sd)...I might have to try this one out (though I heard SHv3 had many things not working...).
Thanks for the contribution anyway .
@Shaquiel Harris, NO BT works as of yet. JAC is getting close I guess but NO HERO BUILD HAS BT YET!
Working on taking some screenies for you guys...
be posting in a few...
hmm seems interesting.
wonder how this one works.

Here you see I have changed the background to one I liked from another build. I also have installed the Retro Clock widget, Weather Channel widget, and a few apps (AndroZip, Last.fm, and I really can't remember which else). Right now I currently have about 10MB free (not running apps from SD)
I don't see the bluetooth is working? What do you mean "fully functional"? is the led work, too !?

Ok, I just tried Bluetooth for the first time and it does not turn on. This was my mistake. I do not use it and did not ever try it. I may grab JACHero latest build and mod it the same way (if bluetooth does work in that build) if anyone really wants it. Personally, I never needed it.
As for the LED, as with most Hero builds currently out, the LED does not work. If someone can point to one that does, let me know.
not feeling the "ophone" icons.
but everything else seems legit.
but really isn't fully "functional" due to the fact there is no "rosie" which makes up pretty much the entire experience of "Hero" but good job regardless!

This is true, but every time I try to use Rosie I definitely do NOT have a fully functional phone.
I suppose I should say Fully Usable (once I get BT working anyway)

Well why would he say fully functional when indeed it isnt? and 2.63 is slow for you because your using swapper. Your supposed to make a linux swap partition and have a fat 32/ext2/3 and linux swap. 2.63 is the fastest and most reliable rom that has been made so far And well this is the rom i will stay with. I dont need bluetooth because well i dont use it kinda want LED's Though But besides that.

No,
and I can't say I've notice that on other builds I've tried. Is there somewhere you've see that? It may be part of the new MMS app (which many people are having reliability issues / not getting messages)

I have updated my original post that BT is not working. As for speed of JACHero 2.63, I'll give it a whirl now that I can easily get back to this ROM.
But I've heard "Really Fast" about a lot of ROMS running Rosie/SensUI, and have not yet been convinced by any of those claims.
This thread is for anyone that wants a more customized rom.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will take any rom released on xda for the dream and customize it to ur liking.
If you don't want the msg/mail widgets or a song played during the boot of ur hero rom I will do that as well.
I won't theme a rom for you nor will i create a rom from scratch, i will only modify it to ur liking.
If this sounds like something that you would want just contact me via twitter or email when you know what you want.
Message me the apps you dont want or apps you want added to the rom.
Twitter - follow me on twitter and post a tweet so i can read it when im not at my computer. Thanks.
Gmail - [email protected]
If this isn't the right spot for this thread mod's please move it, I'm just trying to make things easier for the more noobish people in this forum.
Update: There is a rom at the bottom of this page with some specs if you want to try it.
Thanks and happy flashing.
Well, I guess that's a nice thing to do. Thanks for sharing. Although, I would be interested in a nice tutorial on how to take a ROM off XDA and modify it by removing/adding components... Lemme know if you can help.
Thanks again for your helping intentions!
Long live Android and the community
yea, actually being able to compile a full rom pack for fresh regular wipes complete with apps and whatnot would be killer. I'm sure there's a guide to compiling your own package somewhere though. This totally is the dev department =P Check the huge list of q&a
I'm just want people who get frustrated easily to be able to have the same benefits as the rest of us. You just tell me the rom you want, we'll chat for a little and i'll tell you what apps i can take out and you can ask me to add some apps into the rom..if you want a theme i can help you pick the best one for you and other things along those lines. I already have a few requests and I'm going to sleep now but I will try and get you guys ur roms as soon as I possibly can.
I could use (a lot of people who do embedded systems stuff could use, actually) a cupcake rom with the serial port enabled, TTYMSM2. This would allow hooking up th Dream to a number of devices (Including a sonar if you want to do the Dark Knight scanner thing ).
Ideally it should have variable baud rate but if thats not an option, a lot of stuff (DGPS, sonars...) still runs at 9600 baud.
So would it be possible to get Ion with the htc dialer and htc mail app(exchange)?
I have a few requests that i will be getting to tonight. I will try my best to get them done in speedy orderly fashion.

Can I get a maxisma v2 rogers rom with rosie? I can wait haha I'm just busting your balls! Lol
i would just like a how to on making a lock screen
This is an update from drizzy that i modified a bit for a friend..
-for weather or flip clock use the android widget
-no mail/sms widgets
-updated onscreen keyboard just have to enable it.settings->Locale & Text-> Disable Touch Input
-Some extra games you can delete them from Settings->Applications->manage applications
-other fixes that seem to make it quicker.
-don't overclock, enjoy.
Update.zip
idc what rom it's running on (i'm on cyan 3.9.1 i believe), i just want the camera from wherever you can get it from that has the "store location in photo/pictures" option.
this would be a dream come true. lol
i looked for an app that offered it but seen nothing. =/
pictures store on ur sd card in DCIM/100 Media and wont go anywhere as long as you don't format ur fat32 partition..im not sure where else you would want them to be stored though.

I think he means one that embeds the current GPS data into the image.
So, when he takes a picture it will embed the data of *where* the picture was taken.
Ide like to see some of the hero widgets, like photo album, and the large calendar, and the twitter widget, work on the JACxHERO v1.3 rom
That would be pretty cool, Just all the HERO widgets in general work on the JACxHERO 1.3 build
that would be cool
Background phone
Is there a way to get the background of the contacts, fav, ect.. To black with white fonts. I'm running JacXHero 1.1 with themed palm-hero V3r2.
Thanks
P.S also how can I get TouchPal to work it always gives me an error.
Thanks again

Acutally, if it's easier, you can maybe point out a tutorial or tell me how I could pull out the camera apk from 1 rom and install it in another.... (?_?)

Yeah thats possible, i'll work on that when i get back from vacation..I'll take care of you. To get touchpal to work u just have to have touchpal the only one checked. Then ur set, no errors.
is it possible to customize a fast lag free rom and have it look like the hero.....i like the way the text messages and icons look also like the dialer and the menu.....but hero is so slow sometimes.....thx...
let me get Drizzy's NewVision_2.8 with bluetooth and paid apps working, or Drizzy's NewVision v3r2 with bluetooth and the keyboard working.
i would like a rom that when installed would add 96mb of RAM, would give me the ability to fly as well as to teleport. also i would like it to include a notification ringtone sampling the episode of the boondocks where ed and rummy try to kidnap oprah and ed says "*****es love smiley faces."
just kidding though the last would be cool lol.
but seriously though you are doing a great service for the community. keep up the great work and don't lose your patience.
The theme slash app is available for download with some cool features i added like a new solid battery icon, improve HTc theme, faster scrolling now, support landscape mode now, haves zune on it now but not finish with it,and new weather design look for the theme and better darker text or like to call it words and for the last thing this improves the remove program app in setting now oh ya and its faster tell me if you find any bugs in it so I can fix it here is the file name u should be downloading to your windowsmobile standard device HTC Edition windowsmobile standard cab.zip you should find it in this thread
The next update will have a better interface, have 3d weather forcast, fix the homescreen problem with not supporting the theme somethimes but not that bad but needs more work and if you do have problem with it just go to your themes and just assign it to your device as your theme again and it should work ,finish the Zune App,and make it possible to change the clock to add better one"s,make the landscape mode better, and maybe able to change the start menu icons into htc icons and that is all.
link to youtube page to see my projects in action http://www.youtube.com/user/julian35961?feature=mhw4
Another video is coming out soon on the new update keep you updated on my work
If you have any question message me or leave you replieds here for me to read enjoy
4/1/10 update here i some other cool stuff that u can add to those files like a desire battery that i found on the xda developer site that works on windowsmobile standard devices to but its was made for touch devices but it works his name is Dark Ninja give him credit for these cool batteries.but the taskbar dont work and when installing these make sure to restart your device when they done loading.
hey i'm using the same thing on your first pic but how did you change the battery icon on your second pic? what cab are you using for the battery one?
htc jack
its a htc desire battery and had posted a video go check it here the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32Z6VuZZ7D0
fg
just add more stuff that would change your phone interface .The cabs would be out somewhere today or the next day. just checking everything out making sure it want mess up people samsungjack device. The things i fix was the battery icon not show the full percentage and just start over and made a new one and increase the wordsor test alittilebetter but if you dont like you can change it and this feature in sktool that improves the speed of the phone just to make it run faster and so other stuff that helps it to.
if you want me to add any more features to just leave a message and i will see what i can do to make it happen
oh this would work on qvga standard devices and wvga and qvga professional devices to video would becoming out with the new improvements.
the last files to make its look good.
samsung /htc
here are the pics and here is the link to see the video of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_pHKcR9q5Q&feature=youtube_gdata
i have a problem the battery doesnt keep the right percentage does it on your phone?
wait are u using the old one or the new one i made if you using the old one you better off changing in to the new one because that one needs to be fix or i need to find a solution on how to make it work
plus show me a pic of your phone using it so i can see wat is wrong with the old battery.
the cab files to download the new battery and the new text is coming out pretty soon like today.
here are the cad files if you want to make these work when you install them and they are finish you would have to restart you phone to make it work
here is what the first cab duechange your battery into a solid and font patch change text/wordson your phone like the one in picture.
The strange thing is that my remove program app thing that is on my phone that didnt work is now working when i made these. so happy but stange
4/1/10 Here are the rest files but i have 3 more left to give to u go look for them
mange to make the samsung jack support landscape mode now and added Zune to it
samsung jack supporting landscape i was manage to make it support landscape mode here are the pics and it haves zune on it to
fdf
need people to try things out for me
hi there, i have a samsung shg-i637 i like your theme. I would like to prove your new weather, can you post the cab please
u want to try it out
Htc standard edition theme for windowsmobilestandard
here is the theme but u would need the other cab files to look like mines in the picture and i adding the landscape mode so you can use it on your phone to and tell me if it works on your phone. wait nevermind you dont need those other files already install into this one enjoy
If you have any problems installing this you may need total commander to get the theme and the add on"s or u can open it threw winzip on your computer in just transfer one by one to your computer. It is almost 3 ways you can do it or just download straight from your phone this is third way
4/1/10 updated this post just decided to just give you all the cab files in the file to just make them seperate due to problems trying to put them and the same file format plus if i do put it in one file you may not like some of the stuff thats why i did this enjoy
theres going to be another post with the rest of the files couldnt fit all of them into this one.
thanks works perfect on my sgh-i637, but i have a question: when i try to change the background i go to app/data/home htc2 xml but i need to change the cpr file too?
no you just go to pictures and assign them ask your background
the layout you have selected cannot be loaded. please selecta different layout using the home screen item in settings
just go to setting then go to display then home screen when you get to the last part u should see something about home screen layout you would find HTC2 in there plus if you want to change background for it you should find the background image

deleted the old top pics
the problem i found with the thing keep say error about the background made because of screen size i think but mostly every theme does that on windowsmobile standard devices it just a glitch in the standard rom that they just need to fix or someone who wants to make a better rom for it would help it but is not bad it only happens only one or twice but is going to fix the problems and others.
This is my first release of a theme or anything so i hope you like it screenshots are included
What it Does
Themes the following
check boxes (some of the HTC ones remain un-themed)
volume indicator (yellow)
taskbar (white)
all taskbar icons -BT, wifi, 3g, battery, 4g
menu selections (yellow AOSP selection)
power menu icons
what it doesn't do
it does not change the application icons except for settings
if you want aosp themed app icons i would suggest NonSence or bugless
Things to work out
the location service icon has been removed but still takes up a space in the taskbar (i do not know how to remove that so any help would be nice)

Confirmed working with damagecontrol 3.2, only gripes with it are the 3g and reception icons in the taskbar are considerably lower res than the other icons, and the charging icon looks a little big and out of place.

i'm surprised about the lower resolution gripe cause i used higher resolution ones then the stock aosp
but thanks for the feedback
and as for the charging icon i assume you mean the one on the left (for switching between disc/charging) yeah i need to fix that
off topic note the search buttons look out of place when hitting the search button
Perhaps they got screwed over when the os tried down-sampling them itself?
Fadakar: I'm not seeing any difference whatsoever. Can you ss it?
good job. this looks awesome. glad you threw this together. I personally am allergic to anything resembling stock and i also had darchs aosp setups on hero, so its nothing new to me. i like a completely new experience. However i know theres a **** ton of aosp junkies that will love this. thanks

You paste the same crap in EVERY thread. XDA should add the mod to allow users to ban other users by paying. Make money and clean out the crap threads.
I'd pay for a 2 year ban on that magnus dude just for making ugly themes.
Kinda harsh guys. But he should stay on topic.
Love the AOSP look. Just enough to hold me over until someone can make a full rom of it. Thanks!
Thanks
Added to themes in sticky thread.. Well done, thanks for sharing
failed to install via Amon_RA recovery. switching to clockwork to see how that fairs
edit: installed with clockwork i didn't wip anything maybe i should've wiped cache had a weird boot loop going would make it to lock screen and then restart
edit2: my sdcard was bad which impacted the system after fastbooting back to amons recovery and the nand backup i had there verified through my disk utility that the card was bad >_<
Good job...This is really cool!
a picture with htc sense and this theme would be nice i wanna c the taskbar with sense thanks

I also noticed that the 3g and bars were a little blurry. Not a big deal, but just for the record.
Anyone using this with DamageControl? Which version did you flash?
okay so an update to everyone who said that the icons were low res the system was using the wrong set of icons the 25x25 so i updated the package with flipz lock to contain the 38x38 icons
and later tonight i will upload the other one along with one with a clear lockscreen
still in the search bar the icons are dark when i switched them for the lighter ones every time i would hit search it would restart my phone so i gotta look into that some more
that should be about it
oh and sence still has the scroll page indicator but the espresso dock so it doesn't look great might revert back to stock sence if i have the time sorry
recommended with other launchers
i love this theme but for some reason when i get an email or message the icons on the taskbar have a black square around them instead of just being the message icon or the gmail icon
Just a little sneak preview I've been working on for the past couple minutes.
Theme taken from @thecoby on his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942309 , I've sent thecoby a PM requesting official permission to alter his theme on the basis that credit will be given here in this post as well as coded into the theme.
Basically, all I'm doing is resizing the images used in his theme and redoing the X and Y axis values in the ui.xml. All image work and structure are credited to thecoby. He did all the hard stuff
This is just a port. Not a creation. Please, go thank him (especially if he approves me to use it! Because if not, I really will recreate everything from scratch, which will increase the time I take to get this up and going by a week or more).
Should be done tonight/tomorrow-ish, pending thecoby's approval. No promises.
Reserved for downloads/instructions
COMPLETED:
Button sizes resized
Basic layout resolution changed
90% of images are good to go now
TO DO:
Resize ALL the images!
Fix transparency that broke during some of my resizings.
Fix keyboard highlighting/layout (she way too big! She jus' canny handle 'er, Scotty!)
Modify layout on following pages:
Install (No buttons/source dir visible, the layout listing the folders is too big)
Backup (too much spacing when selecting the partitions to backup, reduce it to make room for buttons)
Set Backup Name (keyboard's too high, due to keyboard layout, only the "q" key is correct lol, cancel button overlapping text area, text area too low... no submit button????)
Restore (everything is in the header??? Dafuq happened here??)
Mount (selectors are all over the place! and the buttons way too high)
Mount USB Storage (USB icon not centered, Unmount button way too high)
Settings (Need less spacing between selections to allow for all buttons)
Screen Settings (Timeout slider too big, re-adjust)
About Theme (Things are way too large, going off the screen... need either line breaks or smaller font)
Advanced
Every sub-page in Advanced needs adjustment... things are just too big.)
Lockscreen still wonky and too big
Various other tweaks and UI issues
Found this theme too! Yet it wasn't fit for our device. Thanks for fixing it up to work with our Blaze!
