HD2 Rotation: Gyrator or HTCSensorConfig? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Curious to see what you guys think about the best way to manage rotation on the HD2. Looks like Gyrator has the smaller footprint of the two I list. Wondering how you guys manage rotation on screens that are not natively supported like the Today screen, and so on.

Bump. Anyone?

By far the best solution is imo changeScreen! Works similar as Gyrator but it is more light weighted and it is also very reliable.

Interesting. Didn't work for me, but Gyrator is spot on. Guess I'll stick with that. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Have you set up your changeScreen-configuration? E.g. the Manila home screen is by default on the exception list because it does not work with ANY program to rotate Manila 2.5 correctly (in later Manila versions the rotation support comes natively). But just try it e.g. within the startmenu or within any filemanager - everything works brilliantly because lots programs support rotation natively - HTC just didn't implement a proper use of the g-sensor... don't ask me why...

Ok, just tried it again and it's working with pretty much everything I want it to rotate, but it seems that eWallet doesn't play nice with either ChangeScreen or Gyrator.
One thing I noticed is that Gyrator seems to be faster in responding to changes. Not a deal-breaker, but just wondering why.

Bump this up to the top. Did either ChangeScreen or Gyrator allow for 180* rotation in Portrait?
I'd love to be able to the HD2 in a cup holder while driving and have the charging port facing up.

Screen does not change from Portriate to landscape

I was under the impresssion that the screen should change from Landscape to portraite automically. Unfortunately, It only switches to landscape when the keyboard slides out. I have tried all the different programs and none of them make any difference. Only get portraite when the keyboard slides out. Have checked the G-Sensor and it seems to be wroking. The game that uses the g-sensor still works fine.
Is my understanding just wrong?
Thanks in advance

Mine's coming tomorrow, but I understood that not all screens will rotate. The browser screen should tho, did on my diamond. Not sure which others do. Does it work when browsing? How about photos? Thats another one that goes to landscape.

The screen is not supposed to automaticly rotate, but you can achieve that by installing a little app callet gyrator!
Is gyrator free? I saw a similar app by Bepe which was renamed to FlipIt in some Diamond ROMS.. It's free in Swtos thread..

Carty..

Which program for g-sensor rotation?

Hi there,
I own the TD2 now and I tried several programs like g-config and gsen and they all only rotate one time counterclockwise. I know they work fine on TD1 for example, but not on TD2. Now i need to rotate clockwise for my TomTom. Is there a tool that rotates in all directions with the TD2?
Thanks.
[Edit] Gyrator works.
Yea i tried this as well. Gyrator works well. And i have tested on tom tom rotates well.
the best programm to rotate on the D2 is this

The right version for Topaz is here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3364297&postcount=16

I tried Jmz Diamond2 G-Sensor.cab, but no success. I can't find it after installation and restart.
Any ideas?
ChangeScreen 2.5 works (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468488). You can set which orientations are allowed, even per application.
Hi!
Thanks for this recommendation, works great.

Compatible G-Sensor games and apps

Hello again.
Following the ROM update to Mitchyprima's 6.1 lite reloaded, I've been looking for apps and games that make use of the now active G-sensor.
So far I've found none.
The only thing it does at the moment is auto-rotate the screen when the device is turned.
I've installed lots of apps and games mostly designed for the touch and touch pro, but none of them work.
Can anyone tell me about any apps that are compatible with the X7510, or any dlls/mods I need to use to enable the G-sensor for accelerometer enabled apps?
Thanks.
i have an app called changer
you can add any app to the program and it will rotate is that what your looking for
You do not need any additional app to have rotation feature. This is already built in the ROM by Michy. You only have to go to G-sensor option and switch X7510 rotation on.
However if you are looking for some games and other apps then I can't help. I know GSen app for rotation, but now it is useless as we have it already and personally do not use anything else.
So nobody is using the G-sonsor for anything except rotating the screen?

I don't even use it for that! I find the automatic rotation a pain in the butt- it's so slow to repond that you have turned to device round and round waiting for it to happen, then it keeps rotating till it catches up with you
I've got AE ButtonPlus programmed to use the Home button to manually rotate the screen. Same with my Diamond- I use PocketPlus to manually rotate it
The screen also rotates to landscape when you put your X7510 on your keyboard.
I like is that way.
The only thing I might find usefull, is scrolling trough your web-browser with the G-sensor.
I don't know hoe accurate this is but you can measure the slope of a surface using the 'bubble level' concept.
Might be a demo but it is on a freeware site
I am using the G-Sensor Calibration for Diamond from this site and it works on the X7510.
Topic on that tool is here.

accelerometer

i'm new to the touch pro
i'm curious what kind of things people are doing with the g-sensor
i bought my phone unlocked with a warrior rom on it (ppcgeeks i think)
though i didn't really look into the g-sensor mod that was running on it
have reflashed since

Mostly just games and Shake UI which I find kind of lame.
hey,
i'm using it for a couple things. games are one: nfs undercover witht eh gsensor enabled, tons of fun!
another use is with galarm (the free version) - i have it set to make me do mazes when i wake up!!!
ring mute on face down - does exactly that, mutes the ringer when you flip it - easy reg tweaks, cabs might be floating around somewhere too
speakerphone on face down wihle in call - program called incall phone tweak or something of that sort
opera browser - rotates when i cahgnes my screen - easy reg tweak if it doesnt already do that (im on opera 9.7b, but 9.5 shoudl do that too)
i think that's all for now, can't think of much else. you can also install things such as diamond gsensor2, sensor sdk, changescreen, gyrator 2, etc as they are all programs that automatically rotate your screen/display when you rotate teh phone.
enjoy

OziCE on HD2

The is a problem with Oziexplorer on HD2.
I made a field test.
Landscape - errors
Portrait - not stable
Routing - does not work at all.
seems ok
Haven't used it long enough as I keep flashing a newer ROM But Ozi appears to be ok on some basic tests. Even landscape came up once you update the GSen registry. I'm on the miri 1.5.

OZICE working well
I bought and installed OZICE 6 weeks ago. It works well. I had no problems at all. I always use it in portrait mode.
Hi
Ive been running OziExp CE on the HD2 without a hitch.
The secret is to use the screen designer and set the resolution to Pocket PC 240x320. I've tried using a custom 480x800 but it simply wont work!
Ive attached my custom one.

Did you try Routing?
It is working but with a lot of program exceptions and it is not stable.
Landscape support
I haven't tried routing but then I've never used that.
Here's a bunch of entries to support landscape for GoogleMaps, OziExplorer, Garmin and File Explorer.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\WhiteList]
"GMaps"="GoogleMapsMobile"
"OziExp"="OziExplorer"
"FileMan"="FEXPLORE"
"Garmin"="QUE_SUBAPP_WND_CLASS"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\ModuleName]
"GMaps"="\Program Files\GoogleMaps\GoogleMaps.exe"
"OziExp"="\Storage Card\OziExplorer 2\OziExplorerCE.exe"
"FileMan"="\Windows\fexplore.exe"
"Garmin"="\Storage Card\Garmin\Apps\WM\QuePPC.exe"[/SIZE]
Attached shows OziExplorer in landscape. I've done no mods to Ozi.
Ozi works very well on my HD2 (used in on stock roms and custom roms)
I really like the pinch-to-zoom feature in Ozi. (First not factory supported app. on which pinch-to-zoom is working, because zooming in Ozi actually is done by blowing up a bitmap without rescaling)
To get pinch-to-zoom AND rotation working in Ozi use BsBTweaks 1.6. No messing around with the registry, just launch and shake

The question is not in that how rotate OziCE screen. By the way, it is easier to use BsB Tweaks 1.6 for this purpose .
OziCE does not use WVGA but only stretches it up to 800х480. OziCE use Dev - Portrait 240w x 320h.par1 in portrait mode.
It is possible to use OziCE Screen Designer and to create Dev - Portrait 480w x 800h.par1, but it is too big when it loaded.
To check more precisionally try to press COURSE UP button on the screen .
In mode LANDSCAPE try to look through pages.
But better is to be on road and to make it in the car.
About ROUTING I already wrote.
In general it is necessary to wait the version for WM 6.5 800x480.
I have found - it is a problem with .ECW map format reading .ECW from SDHC 8GB card.
If you convert it to .OZFX3 - NO PROBLEM
