i received an htc hero today from a client that boots untill the green guy from android comes to the screen, then the green guy goes down and the phone stays in that state, i never flashed a hero or android device and i am ma bit lost in all the information conserning flashing android devices. can someone guide me here.
this are the stats :

i'm sure there is a hero section the would care more
If thats the right fastboot info that ain't a hero bro.
Just do a wipe, it could fix the issue.
Boot into recovery (home+power) and from there perform a wipe.
ok my bad, it is an HTC magic. wipe didn't fix the problem

ok, im kinda lost here. tryed to install this 2 times whitout sucsess. So im here and going to ask for some help, since i realy need it.
My problem is that afther i run the update.zip and rebot the device dont whant to boot/start up. just hang on HTC MAGIC. gave it about 20min the 2. time.

You radio is afaik not OK, you should flash a newer version.

I have G1 and Magic, and G1 is running on Android 1.6 ... but the battery life is really not up to standard. On the other hand, Magic has good battery life but I am stuck!

G1 has smaller batt capacity compared to magic in other words the matt holds less.Which explains short life.
sorry, are you looking for a way to solve your poor battery life issues with the g1, or are you trying to revert from the 1.76 SPL and 6.35 radio back to standard?

If you've got to this stage using the RUU there is currently no way to downgrade. That SPL is perfected.

i hade perfect spl, but i was able to fix this with this method..

Gold card method will fail when trying to apply the 2.53.707.2 SAPPIMG with an error stating 'main version is older'
You have to wait until a newer version Engineering ROM is available from HTC. Or maybe a new kernel exploit on 2.6.27 will be found...

I guess I will just have to keep checking HTC website... and no I really wasn't looking for a fix for the battery life on G1 coz G1 now mostly resides in my draw .. I only use magic now but very frustrated with being stuck in 1.5 while I see my old G1 can run on 1.6! (or above) : (

I updated to the HTC Sense UI Rom, and it updated my Radio and SPL.
Can someone please point me to the correct link to Root the phone now, the current details of my phone are as follows:

I previously had SPL 1.33.0010 and used FlashRec.apk with Amon Ra's Recovery Image for Sapphire c1.6.2H
Am I still able to use FlashRec, and is there a new Amon Ra Recovery Image I must use ... or do I need to do this another way now?
Any assistance will be helpful

I trust you guys to know more than I do ... seems like it's a nice simple one with the right SPL ... only issue now for me, is how to I back up my old one first and is there a way to do it without the SDK cause my computer refuses to install it :/

The fact is that trying to install the latest ROM CyahogenMod the "cm-6.1.0-RC1-DS", it gives me error. And I passed the first splash, restarting continuously.
I have access to recovery, fasboot.
I would like to install this rom, or at least to anyone else.

You have to change the radio. It has to be the old radio.

What did i do so far?
Short version.
1) i had a vodafoon phone with froyo 2.2.1 working fine.
When i started the phone i saw the vodafoon logo.
And this after holding volume down en power.

2) I did al kinds of things and suddenly I had this.

When i booted my device i saw HTC Magic logo on my screen and i had the old android 1.5
I wanted ginger yoshi for my htc magic (it should work), the yoshi gingerbread, i mean.

The phone was still working, i could get into fastboot.
So short, i had vodafoon froyo 2.2.1 and now i had htc magic with android 1.5.
The radio of an HTC Magic (htc branded) is different than a vodafoon (branded).
I got the S-on to S-off so i could get recovery working
So this is what you dont do!!!!!!!!
I updated the radio to 2.22.xx.xxx with the recovery.
And now the phone is stucked into the HTC magic screen.
What i can't do anymore.
1. Start the phone in fastboot.
2. Start in recovery mode
3. Adb the phone (in cmd, windows xp)
4. fastboot devices (in cmd, windows xp)
After reading a lot on how to's and what is what, i've mostly learned a lot about what not to do
I"ve learned several words as, S-on S-off, SPL, 32B 32A, froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb, very helpfull people on xdaforum, android SDK tools, fastboot, adb, *nbh, and last and most importent for me, Bricked
It was a long and learning android htc magic 32B experience week for me and i loved it.
It's like a puzzle and i don't have all the pieces yet.
Excuse for the english and i want to thank you all for sharing your knowledge here on XDAForum.
Now i am sadly stucked because of the bricked phone.
It stays in the HTC magic logo.
Has someone got an idea other than to send it to HTC.
Tip!! don't do anything whitout a step by step explaining.
After the brick i found a nice site that could help me before i bricked my phone.
here they have official RUU that could repair your phone to default(if you can get into fastboot or maybe even in to recovery).
