should i buy a motorola milestone (aka droid) - General Questions and Answers

so my HTC touch pro just went kapoots and I'm out of a warranty. the only thing wrong with it is a broken screen, (which i can buy a new one if i had enough motivation) or i can renew my contract with telus and get a droid.
or i can use an old phone and wait until the HTC incredible or EVO 4g come out in canada.
What do you guys think i should do? any other suggestions?

AT&T Options?

I am stuck using AT$T as my provider currently. I want another android phone. I have a Moto Droid for work and love it.
Since the backflip is a POS, what other phones can be brought over to AT&T and work with 3G? I saw the progress on the iPhone, but would really rather a physical keyboard.
Thanks
AT&T only has 2 android phones available. The Dell Aero and the Moto Backflip. The Backflip being the one with a hard keyboard. They have HTC listed on their android page, but who knows when/if that will happen. I think I remember reading that they made Bing the default search provider for the Backflip. I don't know AT&T's policy on bringing unlocked phones onto their network, but you could get the international version of the Hero or something similar. I just rooted my Sprint Hero with the Fresh 2.0d ROM and it is like having a new phone. Once all the Sprint bloatware was removed it runs twice as fast. Unfortunately, none of the unlocked android phones support AT&T 3G, so you will be stuck on 2G. For a hard keyboard, your only option is an unlocked Motorola Milestone(newegg is out of stock).

Or get a Rogers Dream or Motorola Milestone from eBay if you want a physical keyboard and 3G on AT&T. Then it's just a matter of unlocking and rooting.
Of course, you need to be careful with Rogers. They have "patched" their Dream in such a way as to require a JTAG to root.

I am pretty sure the Milestone does not support AT&T 3G, only T-Mobile. The unlocked Nexus will support AT&T 3G, except for the minor hardware design problem where if you hold the phone the right way you can block the 3G radio. (See youtube, search "Nexus One 3G Problem")

HTC has 2 devices coming (one with a keyboard) Dell has one (dunno about the kb) and rumor has it that the Nexus One will be subsidized sometime soon for ATT.

This is correct, it does support AT&T 3G.
There is also a Nexus 1 designed to work with AT&T's 3G... but of course if you want a physical keyboard, no luck there.

The Dell offering (The "Aero") does not feature a physical keyboard.

One of the HTC offerings (also called "Scorpion": androidspin . com/2010/04/28/htc-spotted-getting-fcc-testing-possibly-android/
I'm unaware of a 2nd HTC offering at this time...

Any potential HTC or Motorolla android phones coming to AT&T in the near future?

Before anyone says anything, I'm not here to talk trash about the Captivate. The Captivate was / is my first phone that led me into the android gateway.
I love the Captivate, but I was just wondering if there's any info on AT&T getting an android phone from HTC or Motorolla is the near future? (excluding the HTC aria and Motorola backflip).
I'm still a Captivate owner, but I would like to know my options if I do ever decide to return it to AT&T for a full refund. I'm currently on my 3rd Captivate because the first one had random shut downs, 2nd one had a dark yellow tint, and this one is perfect besides the fact that the 3 button download/recovery does not work.
If anyone has any insight on upcoming phones, please chime in. No flame wars please, thanks.
you may or may not have heard about the HTC press release a few days ago, theres 2 new versions of the desire, one has a keyboard with a 3.7in screen the other is basically a gsm version of Sprints evo, it remains to be saw which carriers will offer what

You mean the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z?
I thought the HTC Desire HD was another version of the HTC Evo, but made for the rest of the world. I believe the frequency band would work for AT&T for voice, but as for data, it would be edge only, not 3G. That is what I read, I may be wrong though.

HTC HD7 - where to get one and how much?

So HTC has officialy called in HD7 and it is available but from when and how much will it be?
Also where can I get one without contract?
My HD2 has a battery pin broken, I managed to get it to work but it is unstable and sometimes just freezes or switches off just for being in the pocket so it got to go for repair. I might as well use that to get HD7.
Anyone know of any UK suppliers?
That is the problem...all the WP7 phones are binded with contracts here in Germany at the moment.
HTC HD7 with O2
HTC Mozart with T-Mobile
HTC Trophy with Vodafone
I would like also to get one of them since my Desire was taken away from me by my sister.
I don't like signing other contracts if my old one is still valid.
The only WP7 seven left is the LG Optimus 7...but I don't trus LG as I trust HTC...
If an HD7 you have found without contract, please also post the link here.
Thanks.

[Q] T-Mobile one s or factory unlocked 64gb one s?

I had a T-Mobile G2 from launch and just about killed it. I had to get a phone out of necessity and got the Samsung Galaxy nexus as a temporary replacement.
I really do not like this phone lol. I miss sense and was holding out in hopes of T-Mo getting the HTC one x+ but that didn't happen.
So I pose the question of should I get the T-Mobile one s or get an unlocked one from expansys or just wait it out. I live in an area that was refarmed to 1900mhz so I could get the one x+ or even a droid DNA if I manage to get an unlocked one.
But with those last two choices I'd have to be able to live with 3g instead of HSDPA.
I think I could probably get a free upgrade since I bought this phone unlocked from Google but I can't make up my mind. I also can't stand aosp anymore though. I really want sense lol.
Thanks in advance.

ATT HTC ONE X or HTC ONE X S720e ?

Hi guys, i want to give my wife an HTC ONE X, but i have some doubts about which version should i choose.
First of all, i must say ATT version is 390$ unlocked on ebay from a top rated seller, and also have 1 year warranty in US.
The international version is costing 460$ from an online store im used to buy and they say it comes with 1 year warranty from HTC UK.
Since we live in Brazil, 4G wont be compatible, only 3g.
Im also thinking about the LG OPTIMUS 4x HD.
Why should i choose one over another?
Thanks!!
AT&T because the battery life is better.
