I've tried every one of Fresh's radios, but so far I can't seem to get EVDO rev.A on my nTelos Hero. I can only get EVDO rev.0.
I'm an nTelos customer in the Virginia Beach area. I'm currently running DarchLegend 5.0, but any 2.1 radio that gives EVDO rev.A on nTelos Virginia Beach should work. Thank you all for your help.
As I am also in the Beach on nTelos; this information would greatly benefit me as well. I am also only getting EVDO rev.0. I am running Bittersweet 1.0.

I am in an 1xrtt area of Texas and previously could set my Mogul or Touch Pro to roam only and roam on Alltel EVDO. With the touch pro 2 i can roam on Alltel 1xrtt only.
Does anyone have a fix or know where to find one?
Larry
4G
Sprint 4G launched in a number of Texas markets, that could be affecting some of the roaming agreements they had in place with other carriers. It's possible a PRL update could help.
Roam in EVDO?
I am also interested in roaming in EVDO mode. Does anyone know how to do this??
Thanks!

I believe that roaming agreement went out the door when all Alltel in Texas officially became Verizon a few months ago, but I'm on a legacy Alltel account and with an older Alltel PRL loaded, I can still roam on Sprint.
I don't think Sprint/Verizon ever had an EVDO roaming agreement.
I recently brought an unlocked Sidekick 4G to Canada on Fido and am loving it !
You won't have any luck getting 3G with Fido. The Sidekick 3G was designed for the T-Mobile band of 3G called Band IV or AWS1 (1700/2100MHz), and Fido/Rogers use the Band II (1900/2100MHz).
The only carriers what the Sidekick will work with are Wind, Mobilicity and Videotron which all use the proper band.
I'm usually getting 2Mb/s on Mobilicity with my Sidekick (edge would be 0.3Mb/s), so if you are in their coverage zone you may think about switching provider.
Thanks you guys rock
Give it another year or so and the Band IV 1700/2100 will start to appear more on the Rogers/Fido/Chatr network. Rogers has invested into those bands to try take up all of the roaming rights in Canada after missing out with no revenue from roaming from the 2010 Olympics. The new HDSPA+ and LTE networt for Rogers will use the Band IV 1700/2100 as well as other bands when it launches.
Im going to school in Canada and am also looking to bring an unlocked 4G Sidekick up with me... Does the 4G version work with Wi-Fi even after its unlocked and in Canada? Are all the features accessible like webrowsing, social networks, etc??
Any info would be great. I am with Rogers so apparently that will be compatible with an unlocked version
I use my unlocked Sidekick 4G on Rogers in Canada. Now that rogers has officially rolled out AWS 1700 in the Ottawa region, you willl get 4G there although Rogers data network is exceptionally slow. AWS will be coming to toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and a couple of other major cities by the end of 2011 according to Rogers. You can visit rogers.com/lte for more info on AWS coverage.
Are you 100% sure that it's using HSPA+ on the AWS1/1700MHz band ?
Their press release mentions using LTE on 1700 but HSPA+ (which they call 4G) on the "regular" 1900 band which is consistent with the wikipedia entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogers_Wireless#HSPA.2B
If you are getting a ~ 120kb/s speed, you are probably using edge and not 3g(or 4g).
By the way their Rocket stick ad http://www.rogerslte.com/new-lte-devices mentions this too:
* AWS for connectivity on the Rogers LTE network
* Tri-band HSPA+ /Quad-band EDGE for connectivity on the Rogers 4G HSPA+ network and roaming in over 190 countries

This is freaking crucial information that should be posted as a sticky, FAQ, or something to let people know. This saved me from trying to troubleshoot for months and from having to buy new sidekick again.
+1
i seem to finally be receiving 4G coverage here in San Diego (north county coastal). speeds are no where near as impressive as the 4G they have in downtown San Diego though.
in downtown SD was able to download a 700MB file in about 5 minutes. here in the N.C. coastal area it takes about 20 minutes. still, better then the 1 1/2 - 2 hours it took on 3G.
weird thing though, according to the verizon 4g coverage map on verizon's website, it still says that there is no 4G in my area yet + i was at a verizon store earlier and the 4G phones they have on display still say 3G.
does it have something to do with updating to the new radio(possibly being able to pick up a 4G that isn't officially turned on in this area yet?) i'm also on a sense 3.5 rom.

The radio might have something to do with it, but there's no way to know for sure. It's kinda pokey in the beginning.
Where in north county? In Oceanside and no 4g yet.
Odds are, they're simply turning it on tower by tower or possibly just testing it. Until it's fully up and running, do NOT expect VZW to say they have 4G in your area or update their online maps.
Should they run radio ads saying "Enjoy amazing 4G speeds on Verizon's network, but only in voxigenboy's general area" ?

I'm in Carlsbad (92008) but also tested in Oceanside (92054). 4G all the way.
the radio I'm using is that newer 9## one.. its not the MR 3.5
there was a link to it in that sense 3.5 look-a-like rom thread.
oddly enough, even though Oceanside is closer to the towers I've been getting a stronger signal in Carlsbad. for instance, that Angelo's Burgers in South O, I used to get full 3G reception there.. now on 4G the signal there sucks.
then the Carlsbad library on CVB, it used to have a ****ty 3G signal... now the 4G there is very strong.
Weird, I'm on the fringe of Oceanside but I haven't noticed 4g anywhere i've been. Even downtown. Seen it in some parts of Carlsbad but haven't been around there too recently.
4g seems weird. I am in a strong 4g area but do not get it at my house but do at the station about 2 miles down the road I do.

^What he said. 4G came and went for about 3 weeks in Indy before it was officially here.
Im disappointed, I live about 45 mins outside of Savannah Georgia, and still no LTE... Only place I pick it up is when I head to Jacksonville/St Augustine area... ISO my LTE
still no LTE
There's still no LTE in 92056, 92058, 92057 or anywhere else in Oceanside. Maybe they were just testing it. Vista, Fallbrook and Camp Pendleton still dont have it either. I noticed that Verizon recently lit up all of Riverside County west of the mountains but it seems like they are doing a poor job in San Diego. They are adding one or two cities at a time. Hopefully, that Riverside County crew will move into our area and show the lazy San Diego Verizon workers how to upgrade a network.
You guys are complaining I am in NJ in the state of Verizon's headquters and we have up north and heading toward phillips that's it and in every time they turn on more radios never do they mention NJ so I am thinking 2013
Sent by me, for me and i love you
I am in Phoenix and have basically no data, I had 1X for a while, rebooted saw 3G for a couple minutes and now nothing again. I see on another board other reports.
Are you see this too?
http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-htc-thunderbolt-forums/157453-data-issues-morning.html
Im having similiar issues in nj. I cant hold 4g, been in 3g but isnt 3g sppeds, and 1x
Same thing here in Dallas TX.
Wow I thought this was only me. I have toggled data and 4g/3g. Rebooted and I am stuck with 3g only. I am running son of a bliss.
No 4G in Beaumont, TX area either. 3G is available. 80 miles east of Houston here.
Same here in Cincinnati. Noticed 1x around 7am, rebooted a number of times. Searched some forums and twitter. Verizon, get with the program, if you have a data problem post it on Twitter so we know.
I can confirm as well in SE Wisconsin, only weak 3G
3G only in Los Angeles as well
this is getting embarrassing for the nations most reliable 4g lte network.
Baltimore area, haven't toggled 4G/3G yet, but my phone currently has no data at all--not even 1X.
EDIT: After 4G toggle, 3G is fine.
Same on Columbus Ohio
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
4G back (now) in Phoenix 10:48 local time.
3g only in the "D"
(Detroit)
4g is back for me as well in Atlanta Georgia.
4G is back in Baltimore.
4g problems in Grand Rapids, MI.
I heard it was solar flares. The Hughes net at my work went down too and T mobile had the same problems.
Is everyone back up? BC i'm still stuck on 1x. I talked to VZW yesterday and they told me there were no issues in my area (Indianapolis, IN area), however I am still stuck. Had the SIM replaced last night at local VZW store. Tech support on the phone told me if the SIM didn't take care of it, they would send me a new phone. I'm not convinced that will do any good either if its everywhere. OTOH my wife's 4G samsung charge runs just fine sitting right next to my bolt...
I am running FreeGS3 version 3.0 on my Samsung Galaxy S3.
The modem / radio that I am using is MD4, and I live in phoenix, Arizona.
When selecting CDMA network mode, I show 3G and have data with no issues.
However, when I select LTE / CDMA on network mode, I get no 3G and have no mobile data whatsoever.
This was not an issue with the stock ROM, but I was wondering if this is a known issue with this ROM.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Not that it matters, as there is no LTE on Sprint in Phoenix, anyway, but I just thought that I would be pre-emptive and ask this question now just in case we ever get LTE here.
Thanks!
