[REQ] Easy reboot into recovery w/o shell - Nexus One Themes and Apps

I hope this is in the right spot.
I was hoping to ask the awesome developers here if there was any way to add a quick "reboot into recovery" option (a la openeclair) from the power button menu.
I mean, when you long press the power button on the Nexus, you get a dialogue box asking whether you want to reboot regularly or into recovery.
Ideally, this would be able to work on any rom, CM5 especially. For right now, I'm just going to write an apk that strictly does "reboot recovery" because that's the extent of my ability. More on that later.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

i understand your request for the option to be added to the window when long-pressing power button - i'd like that too.
but in terms of "writing an apk that does reboot recover" there is aleady such app (with widget) in the market: Quick Boot

Remove full battery notification?

Is there a way this can be done. I cant stand the notification popping up all the time and waking me up at night. I dont really want to turn my volume down I just want it not to notify me when the battery is fully charged.
I'm pretty sure most custom roms have already done this

yes I know but I was curious if I can modify the apk or replace it or something on my own and do it?
I'm pretty sure(but don't quote me on this) you can't disable it without rooting & flashing a ROM(i.e. Gummycharged). Hope I'm wrong but I've been hearing people complain about not being able to remove it just like bloatware(also solved by ROMs).
I have the leaked GB ROM and I have this stupid thing I can not find how to get rid of it.
There is a program that is freezable in titanium called Fullbatpopupapp, but I don't know the ramifications of freezing it. (need my phone for work so I don't f&ck with it much lol)

I know, but I am running ee4 debloated and I love it. The only thing I hate about it IS.....the full battery sound!
I use my phone for a pager also where work has to page me. So turning down the notifications while I sleep is not an option. So an hour after I am asleep my phone goes off as if I am getting a SWAT call-out and it just telling me I have a full battery. Hopefully there is a simple fix.
And since the DEVS can do it, it is possible. Just need them to see my cry for help and show me the way!
please someone has to know how to do this????
I would also like a solution to this that doesn't involve flashing an already-modified rom. I am also running ee4 debloated and it suits my fancies perfectly. All I need is to remove that battery charged notification.

Go to Dialer and enter *#83786633, then press the home key
Go back into the Dialer, clear those numbers, then *#22745927
Now a screen will appear asking for the SPC Code, enter 000000
Press the Hiddenmenu Enable radio button, then press home button
Go back into the dialer and enter *#3844228#. It allows you to disable it.
You can also use this option to disable the lock screen (and power down pop up), go back into the Dialer and use the code *#7594#, select Shutdown and press the Home button. This, I have confirmed, does work on the Charge.
I can't post the url, but this does work. Credit to cwalter9 on androidcentral.

The lock screen part is, I don't disable the lock screen, just included it since it uses the same information. Mostly posted for the full battery question.
I had it removed on my fascinate. There is a zip file for the fascinate to do it. Maybe someone can port it over. The fascinate isn't far from this phone

Back Menu Button Disabled

I rebooted my device into recovery preparing to flash a rom and when I got into recovery I received the message "back menu button disabled." This would not allow me to make selections in the recovery menu by pressing the power button. I kept trying and trying to make selections much to no avail. Funny thing is just as I was about to pull the battery "back menu button enabled" pops up. Does anyone know why this happened?

If it is the same as the captivate then it is disabled by a button combo when in recovery.

If that happens you need to scroll past the top menu item (wrap) in either direction 3 times to restore the back button.

Thanks so much. And lol -- that reminds me of a nintendo secret code thing.
Do you know why that happens? or what that's trying to prevent from happening?

I think it was originally to help with some older buggy hardware, but I don't know the details, sorry.
EDIT: I *think* you get into that state if you press power + one of the volume keys at the same time...

[Q] Remapping hardware buttons

Does anybody know a good app to assign actions to the hardware buttons (Touchbuttons on the bottom)? Of course only for the long press action. Otherwise I think I need the defaults I found out that when you keep the home key pressed, it shows a panel with the last opened apps, and the same with the Search button gives you Google Voice. I also have an App that toggles auto-rotate which runs on the long press of the Search button. However, must apps are not smart enough to distinguish between short and long press: They perform their action anyway, and if I keep the button pressed, I can also turn off auto rotate. But that's kinda annoying. The Homekey doesn't have this problem, so I'd like to move auto-rotate to this key. Is there an app that can do this? Or some other means of configuration?
Found LaunchKey in the meantime, but it only works for the Long-press search button. Would like long press home button... No ideas?! There is Button remapper, but it says it requires root.

"No Power Button" Project

Okay so im having a little project to get rid of using power button, cuz mine is really "soft" and i believe someday it will stop responding...
Im currently using few apps&tricks:
Turning off screen:
Screen Off & Lock
Turning on the screen:
Volume key wake
or as in most roms now, its enable-able in settings/tweaks
Rebooting, entering recovery or bootloader:
Quick Boot (Reboot)
And recovery:
4EXT Recovery Touch
Im currently running cm7mod rom and i am trying to find a code or good replacement to open "cm7 power button menu or advanced boot menu" if its called that, to open from shortcut or different key then long press power button. And another one for now is taking a screen shot from different combo then "power button+home" I know there is some apps to take screenshots but i would prefer to edit some files myself to make it happen.
Hope this helps somebody with same issues and maybe someone can give me some pointers!
PEACE
Thanks for the tips.
I'm sure this will come in handy for people who're wearing out their power button (like me!!)

Hey, thanks for that video. Makes for an interesting party trick!!
But the problem with this is phone unlocking inside your pocket, and secondly, continuous polling of the proximity sensor is going to gobble your battery up pretty fast. But i'll have to try it out for atleast a day to support that theory.
Thanks for the info anyway.
Did anyone try to use warranty because of the power button? mine is going softer every week...

Good news coming for your project in the next couple of days. Need some finetuning, but it's looking promising.
You won't be able to simply edit stuff to make it work on other roms, but Reaper will have it.

Yummy, more mischief from the chef!!
I've always used Screen off apps on all my devices !
Even since the days of WinMo there was such app
One of the first apps I install on my phone when I load a New ROM is screen off and lock
I don't need the volume wake though - that would just wear out the volume buttons when I already use it for music control

Home offscreen button during typing

Is anybody else having this issue? I am coming from Galaxy S4, where the home button is actual physical button, so there I didn't have any issues, but with OPO, when typing, many times when I try to hit spacebar, it hits the top of the Home button. Before it comes up, I do not want to use on screen buttons, I like the size of the screen and don't want it up with software buttons.
I was wondering if anyone has/could write a script to set the buttons to
(Menu)
Short press - Menu
Long Press - Recent Aps
(Home)
Short press - Nothing
Long Press - Home
(Back)
Short Press - back
Long Press - nothing
Or of there is an app that would give me a bit more control over the buttons... or something that can help with this. This is absolutely the only issue I have with the OPO otherwise I love the phone.

Because i currently am running CM12 i can't give exact insturctions but it should be somewhere in settings -> buttons -> ? over there you should be able to give the buttons other values. It is something like menu button: recent apps switcher and if you press that you can change it to a few other things. If this doesn't fill your needs, ask a bit more around I know it is there, because i saw it once.

Yes it is there, but the option for "Home Short Press" is not there, that is hard coded. At least on the ROM I run (LiquidSmooth)
What I need to know is this:
Which key mapping is for Short Press Home, Long Press Home and Long Press Menu. I am within /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl to adjust the mapping manually, but can't seem to find the correct mapping for those 3.
*EDIT*
Ok, so found the key for Home and that is 172, but that disables both the short and long press...

Thank you for the link, unfortunately still doesn't work. Same error. I think it is because the ROM I am using is LP and LP uses ART instead of Dalvik and XPosed doesn't work with that. Thank you though for the effort

Yes, ART is the problem.
So I came up with a solution for this issue.
The file in question to be working with is /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
Navigate to this file using a File Browser (Root Explorer is the one I use) that has access to Root and make sure you have R/W rights.
Edit the file above in a text editor > find line : "key 139 MENU" and change it to "key 139 HOME" > and then find line : "key 172 HOME" and change it to "key 172 MENU" > Reboot device for it to take effect after you save
Then, within Settings > Buttons, you can adjust (at least on the ROM I am on), the long and short press of the Menu button.
What comes out is: left button is HOME button, with short/long press actions, middle button is MENU with just long action (set short action to NONE), and right button is BACK button untouched.
This way if I am typing, and want to hit space bar, accidentally hitting the middle button will not bring me to the main screen. It will take a while to get used to it, but it does resolve my issue.
