for the past few days, ive been trying to figure this one out. there are a few guides out there, but none seem to work for me.
what im trying to do is switch out icons in an existing apk to match my theme. i tried following this one started a while back, but it refuses to install.
i get through all the steps and even get it signed (i think). when installing with eoeapp manager, thats where i hit the wall. any recommendations?
If you have signed the apk make sure you uninstall the old app first, otherwise the keys wont match.
You can try adb uninstall with the -k option that keeps the data.
alternatively you can push the .apk to /system/app where it does not check the signature.
Did you Delete the META-INF then resign this happened to me kept saying it was a system app?
If you're just talking about icons, I find it far easier to extract using a root utility like root explorer and update to new apk with metamorph.

I've had to delete the certificates in meta-inf before resigning sometimes.
i just delete the whole meta-inf folder. resign it using the links autosign tool. uninstall old app and then install new modded one. good to go.
cool beans. i wasnt uninstalling home++ because i wanted to keep the current settings. however, once uninstalled, the newly signed apk worked great. thanks fellas!
not done changing things yet, but heres what the scrollable bottom looks like now. note: the icons were taken from Akalias01 which was made for the droid i think.

Dumb question I know , but how do you install this? Thanks in advance.
You should post your question to that thread.
Generally these are cab files and you copy them to your device and run it.
I did post it in that thread , its for HD2. I have a pure so I thought id post it here also.
I wish it was in .cab format but it wasnt.
So what is it, a bunch of manila files or?
Its just a .png file. Ive searched a few different ways and saw a thread for start button's and all were posted with just the picture like this one. Not sure why tho.
Here is the start button thread , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=679908
I read in there too just copy it too the windows folder , but that didnt work for me.
Okay, I think I figured out your issue.
On that thread you have to find the start menu icon you want then download the zip file that has the icon in it. In the zip files are the corresponding cabs to install. Then you copy the selected cab to your device and run it.
Cool thanks , I just went thru all the pages and no one has added this one too a zip yet. But ill request it on that post and see if he will add it too the windows pack and then install it.
Thanks Inman
Hello, today I needed to download zip file from my gmail inbox. I had only Omnia W with me and no Android phone. After that I wanted to delete downloaded zip... but can it be done? On image below is what I mean... how can I delete once downloaded file?
In this cas it is only 90KB file, but what if I download 10MB zip for example, then it would take 10MB from small device's memmory forever? (or until factory reset). This is unacceptable behavior.

So please, if this problem has any solution, post it for me. Thank you

and that will also delete temporary file on device? and what if I want to keep mail on server?
Downloaded files are saved toa Temp location, and it appears that the OS cleans them out periodically. I could write a fairly simple app (wouldn't even need interop-unlock) that lets you view and clean them out, if you want, though.
Note, however, that I'm pretty crazy-busy right now, so I can't promise *when* it would be available.

Is it possible to access from code files outside the isolated storage of particular application?
An app with ID_CAP_FILEVIEWER can read the temp folder (using either native APIs or GetResourceStream).
Hey all,
I'm a CM9 user and the other day tried Resurrection Remix 2 and loved the Swype Keyboard theme and behavior so did a Backup of it using Titanium Backup.
Now I reflashed CM9 and to restore it to CM9 (Latest Nightly Build) it runs perfectly after the restore ,however, every time I reboot my phone right after it boots up I get a FC from Swype and have to uninstall it.
I've tried to clear its data even cleared Dalvik cache and nothing yet, so if someone does have any idea of this issue let me know if it can be fixed...

SOLVED
Had forgotten that some apps use lib files, so went and did some Google research and found that Swype uses a lib file called Libswypecore into system/lib/, so took a copy of resurrection remix ROM and extracted it along with Swype.apk and copied them to my ROM's System directory and gave them the right permissions and rebooted.
Voila! It is now fully working and with no issues, if someone wants a copy just let me know and I'll upload both files. Check a screenshot below it is awesome.

That is not allowed on XDA. Swype is considered proprietary software and sharing it falls under the warez category. If you want your own copy and your phone or ROM didn't come with it, it's easy and free to sign up to be a Swype beta tester. That way you can obtain your own [legal] copy.
I have installed about 20 applications on system/app
I have renamed all these 20 apps in numerical order(1.apk, 2.apk, 3.apk so on...)
I would like to know if something could go wrong with this customisation...
Will I have a problem updating apps from google play?
Would google play recognize her apps?
Thank you for reading

an act of considerable courage and genius ...
I think probably there will be no problem in applications that have been renamed but it seems to be difficult to get an update from the play store ...
sorry if my response was not appropriate and did not help ...
I think google play would update them just fine, as it's not the name with what It's named in the folder, but something in the apk itself. If that wouldn't be true, you could just rename a apk to for example: Chrome and it'd be updated, so no, the apps will update just fine. Sorry for the maybe not understandable explanation :3

^The apk files in the system/app folder are named numerically. I can still get the updates from google play. It is recognizing it, no problem there.
Deciphering the numerically named apps is not so difficult because i can still see their icons and root applications do recognize them with their appropriate names.
check this screenshot

Every time i turn data off, that notification appear, is there a way to delete that permanently, make it not appear again or edit build.prop to solve that?
Or there is a file that I must delete from the system?

Actually, very simple.
Root your device
Install Xposed framework
Install this module
Restart

I knew that. But there is no such module in the latest Xposed framework for 5.0.2
Maybe you have KK.
So apparently it's not that simple.
And Sony gave a different name for this file, I can't find it in System/App like it was in older Xperia devices, like com.sonyericsson.dataTrafficDisabledNotification
UPDATE
I did download the .apk but from the official website.
In Xposed I didn't find it.
It works.
Thanks.
