pdaNET missing from market on AT&T - Android Apps and Games

Can someone explain why this is?
Somebody suggested taking out my sim card and going to the market over Wi-Fi would get around this... I'm not so sure?
If not, could someone post the .apk?
Thanks.

Do you have root? If so there are two free applications that do this, one wired and one wireless.
You could try market enabler and it should show up then.

no root, running stock. Taking out sim worked. Have it now.

Removing your sim card and acessing th emarket with wifi will allow you to see and install apps you can't see otherwise. For more info:

Can't post links, so replace the ** with tt.

Sorry, I really dont know if it will work outside of US. The only way is to try and let us know. As I am traveling to Europe on a regular basis I will try and report my finding at that time.

Okie, I will test now. But I think it will didn't work because my friend's using Tmobile G1 RC33 JF1.43. 2 days ago, he tried putting an US sim card to his phone and he still not be able to access to paid market. I think google check our IP.
Now, all people try putting your sim card out and put the Tmobile sim card include phone box (if yyou buy it from US) and check the market, If you can access the paid market, It's mean that Google check sim region.
Then if you want to see the "paid" apps into Market, you really need
to have a SIM card plugged into ADP. Without it I could not see any
paid apps (very weird isn't it? Probably a nice bug in Market). I
recommend to plug your SIM card then to go to Market sections
"Applications" and "Games" and then you can get rid of your SIM card
and you will be able to see the "paid" apps.

Read it !!!!!!!!!!! It means that Google ceck Sim card region.
so basically what you are doing is just updating to 1.1 holiday, right?
Im in spain using JF 1.43 ADP1 1.1h and I cant see any paid app, so probably google is checking for sim country code...
Hello [Ris], I am from Spain too and I am afraid we will have to wait until Movistar releases their G1, I hope this month.
BUt, will Google do a cross check of the model number + sim country code and leave us without paid apps?
I think it is a nonsense that we can't buy apps from other countries.

I don't think so. I think they check sim and IP only. Because at older FW (rc30) I can't find some software that release only for US user, but when I plug in my tmobile sim card, I can find and download them. Now I tried doing that, but it doesn't work. I think I will fake IP and test again.
I think faking IP address in wireless router will work. We only need fake to US IP and use a US sim to access Android paid Market.
Please help us to fake IP in a router, I'm look for how to do.

Not exactly. What I have noticed is that whenever you access Market with a SIM card plugged you can see paid apps and then you dont need it anymore if you are on the same Wifi network.
I could unplugged my SIM card, reboot and thru Wifi still see the paid apps. Then connecting to a new Wifi network, I could not see the paid apps anymore.
Hope that helps,
Fabrice
adp 1.1 holiday and paid apps
i can see paid apps. im using jf holiday adp, udgraded baseband, in US.
Paid apps yea, but what about protected apps. I think rooted phones cannot donwload protected apps. Protection is an option you check off when releasing your app in the market.
ADP can't reach to paid market. I look for the way to fake IP from the router. Can you help me?
I have a german G1 with ADP1.1/JFv1.43h and I do see paid apps if I insert an old, used up prepaid US SIM card from cingular. Even with a german IP address.
The market application ask several time for my google account password after I swap the cards, but it does work. Unclear if i can buy something, I'll try that (have to first set up a google checkout account).
But: Soem other apps have completely disappeared after I flashed to the ADP1 firmware. Are those the so called 'protected' ones? Can somebody explain what this protection is about?
Thanks, I'll post any app buying success.
Success! Just bought the app "Graph" for 2.99$.
You need a google checkout account (and a visa/mastercard/whatever credit card for that) plus a (any) US SIM card. Works with JFv1.43h ADP1.
The SIM card can be old and rusty, the one I'm using is so old that it does not allow me to access the GSM/3G network here in germany.
Interesting is that the terms of service I had to agree on were displayed in german. This could be because I have a "german google account".
So, try it if you have such a SIM card, otherwise: It won't take long until the paid market doors open here in europe, maybe a few weeks.

Thạnk you very much. I'm flash back to RC33 JF4.3 and will post my result now
The firmware I'm using is JFv1.43h, the modified ADP1 holiday build. So you wont have any difference with RC33 I guess.
It depends on the SIM card.

Android Market Major Problems HELP Please!

If anyone has already asked about any of these questions i apologize in advance, i have however been trying to find an answer to this problem for a week now. I'm not sure if anyone else has been having these problems but i've searched everywhere and couldn't find an answer. I have a g1 with cyanogen 4.1.999 and the newest recovery just in case that helps.
I have apps to SD so all of my market downloads were saved there, however i had to remove the partition and make a new one and all the apps were deleted, but on the market download list they still all show up and it won't let me uninstall or open the apps, which leaves me without the apps that i always use everyday.
I was thinking a factory reset might work, but i don't have the data plan either, and the way to get around the sign in screen with adb i've tried before with no success.
I've tried signing in with another account name but the download list is cleared but when i search for the apps they still are shown as installed.
When i go to the manage applications in settings i find all the files for the old supposed "deleted" apps, as in "com.bgh.goalkicker" but when i selet any of them it says "application not found" i have no idea how to delete these files!
I was thinking maybe that if i did a factory resent and then flashed a hero rom, since the set up screen lets you set up your wifi before signing into your google account, maybe that could work and i could still sign in with no data plan?
Anyone, please help it would be VERY appreciated, and if this has already been answered somewhere else and i haven't found it, i apologize greatly!
No data plan?
Why would you buy such a nice, expensive smartphone, go through the trouble of putting cyanogenmod on it, and NOT have a data plan?

How do I install the wireless tether on a rooted Hero

First, I want to say thank you for all of the valuable tips I have received from this forum. Anyways, I have successfully rooted my hero and have deleted all of the bloatware that I did not want. I like how my hero is currently set up but I do want to add the wireless tether app. If someone could list the order of commands to push the app onto my phone I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.
Copy the apk to your sd card and use app manager from the market to install.
From what I understand, the only way is to install a ROM. For whatever reason, simply installing the APK does not work.
I have not installed any other ROMs, I am only rooted and using the stock Sprint ROM that came with the phone. I found this link over at PPC Geeks yesterday and apparently the creator has updated it to work on a rooted Sprint ROM.
http://android-wifi-tether.googlecode.com/files/wireless_tether_1_61-pre1_htc.apk
I just installed it with HTC Sync and it works perfectly ;-)
Indeed it is as simple as downloading the app in the previous post and running it, in fact I am posting this right now while using the tether connection from my sprint hero (just rooted, no custom ROM).
help please
i have installed this app on my rooted htc sprint hero 2.1 android update 1 as recommended above and it shows on my ipad (iOs 4.3) but when i connect to it it says I am connected on the ipad but when I launch safari it says not connected to Internet. I did set a pass phrase of 13 digits on the app but the ipad never asked me for it. Then I tried it without encryption and I got the same error message.
I hope I am asking this in the right place and hope someone can help me. I am open to trying a different app if anyone has a better suggestion or any idea how to get ipad to tether to rooted hero? thanks for your help!
Wireless tether for root users.
Free in the market.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got some hot Gingerbread-on-Hero action here!
i believe that is the same as the link posted by "cold sweat" above because that's what I installed and not working.
No, it isn't. The one from the market is pretty much what everyone uses.

Mine is touch and go. Wireless tether only seems to work with certain kernels. I know on my moment kernels had to have netfilters enabled to work.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
ok ill try and uninstall the tether i installed from link above and install from market. will let you know how that goes later on. will hope for the best!
Did your PC recognize the tether app as a network?
Did you give permissions in the app to the PC that is connecting?
i am not trying to tether to pc. i am trying to tether to ios 4.3 ipad. i did give permisions in the app to the ipad which is connectiing and it came up as green symbol in tray once i did. but that was using the older link for the tether app. I hope the newer one works better which is in the market.
thank you!! but 1 more question...

yeaaaaaaaaaaaa, that worked. I guess the android tether that was linked in this thread is an older version (14) than the one in the market. It works great now on the iPad. I did not go in and set a password, do you think that is a good idea? I have an unlimited data plan so not sure if it is even neccesary or a good idea to mess with the settings on the app.

You would still have to approve the device when it tries to connect....
ok then i wont change the settings for fear trying to fix something that is not broken could take an app which is working into not working lol. thanks again for all your help!
now that iam rooted is it possible to move apps to sd or would i need to get a custom rom? I am on stock 2.1 update 1 (rooted htc sprint hero)
You would need a rom that supports apps2sd. Word of advice, don't put apps with widgets you run on the sd card. They won't be found and you'll get the "problem loading widget" display.

I don't use apps2sd at all. Just don't like burning out and replacing my card all the time.
thanks to everyone for being so helpful to a newbie!!

[Q] Say what? Wi-fi internet sharing for Windows Mobile 6.5?

Hi everyone. I've been hearing mention of some sort of Internet Sharing application or addon to the comm manager, that would allow me to turn my phone into some sort of hub. I'd like to be able to use my phone's connection with my iPod Touch, (or perhaps, other devices), so my searching is what has lead me here.
However, I don't really know what the "defacto" modification is for getting this capability. I've seen several threads already. Also, they seem to lack in documentation. They come in cab files - would that mean I can just download and install from my phone right away?
So if anyone can recommend me a wifi sharing app, (preferably for the HTC Ozone), I would be very grateful.

Auugghh. The website logged me out, so I lost my entire post
Anyhow, I'll try and re-write what I had last time:
So I'd like to use 0.9.1, since it seems to be the last free version. I downloaded it and installed it ok, but I have no idea how to use it past that. Could you possibly link me to a guide, or detail it in here?
Well, I gave in at the airport and just downloaded the trial.
Very nice. I'm so glad that I can use a browser that was a least half thought out (safari mobile) rather than that Intermet explorer. What a waste of my unlimited data plan that would have been.
Although, I'd like to be able to use that free version of WMWifi if I could. So does anyone happen to have a guide for it?

[REQ] Skype apk that can do calls over mobile network

I have the apk which used to work before over 3G, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.
Does anyone have a new version of it, or know why the old hacked skype.apk doesn't work anymore? Now it just keeps telling me that my sign in name doesn't exist
I also installed the hacked APK that you're referring to. I just checked it on my and it's still working like usual. Perhaps you set it to auto-update in the Market and it got overwritten by an unhacked install? That's what happened to me, and I had to uninstall and reinstall with the hacked APK.
I could have sworn that there was a thread somewhere in these N1 forums which was all about the hacked Skype 3G APK. If you've already run a search, please ignore. If not though, I'd suggest you take a crack at the search function whenever you're in doubt.
Anyhow, I believe this is the thread where I first downloaded the working Skype 3G APK: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/xeudoxus/78843-apks-unlocked-apps.html
At the very least, it's definitely the same dude-- I remember that username.
Good luck, and happy VOIPing
I'm confused. How come Skype won't work over 3G for you? It works perfectly fine for me, downloaded straight from the market. I've had hours of conversations on it.
Skype has a contract with Verizon in the States to only do 3G Skype with them. It's restricted to Wifi only on all other carriers.
Oh that must really suck. And here I thought the carriers in Canada sucked. At least I get Skype over 3G here. Canada only mostly sucks now.

I had the same problem today... I found out my problem was my new keyboard (Swiftkey) automatically added an additional space after my name. Following this correction, I placed a call over 3G without issue. Maybe that could be your issue too.
Hello,
I have installed the Hacked 3g version on my verizon galaxy tab and no matter what I do, my wife and I can not talk to each other, the connection seems laggy and our voices cut in and out. MY wife uses a mytouch on tmobile till we get the money to get her a verizon upgrade.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
