(REQ) Carousel Mod for Sense 2.5 (SPB Shell-Like) but not SPB - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Does anyone know if this is possible or available. Would be so nice.
To have a carousel function (similar to the SBP Shell panels carousel) that can either replace the sense slider or work as a stand alone app.

That would definitely be cool, but I am pretty sure there is nothing like that at the moment.

I agree, would be nice!
But not going to happen...

it would be better if you can Flick the home screen up and down endlessly like a kinda cirkel,
don't know if you'll understand my idea but like this,
if you Flick up you can get to the manila player, further up you'll get to albums further up you get a blank page it would be cool of you can put widgets over there and you flick again you get cookies home tab and another flick to get back at manila home screen.
hope ya'll understand my idea
sorry for my english

I sort of get what u mean. That would be sort of similar to the current sense slider but with 2 differences; Upwards/downwards scrolling instead of side to side. And different animation style for the transition of each page (flip, fold, flick etc). Nice idea...bu I would prefer the carousel better.
Had a look around the SPB shell threads and got the impression that there may be legal / patent related stuff that means the "carousel" is only for "spb mobile shell". So currently using both on my HD2 and a neat toggle switch app to change between Sense & SPB. ALthough SPB is nice (lots of eye candy) I prefer Sense (smoothness & speed) but would love that carousel or something similar.
I know nothing about apps & programming (should have paid more attention in IT classes) so just hoping someone here latches onto the idea.

[Q] Changing TF3D landscape shortcuts

First off I want to thank everyone here at XDA for all the hard work and effort you put into tweaking these great devices.
Now, on to my question, I've searched here and the diamond forum and I can't find any mention of a way to change the shortcut buttons on the landscape TF3D screen. I would really like to be able to customize that screen with shortcuts to applications I actually use. There must be a way to do this, has anyone got an idea?
First post , please go easy on my noobness.
Searchipoos......
Post #9 on first page, bottom ish of second page for a bit extra
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426328&page=2
Thanks Ouza but I saw that post and it's not what I'm looking for. This only deals with changing the two softkeys at the bottom of the landscape screen (which is nice in itself).
I'm wanting to change the 6 big shortcut ''buttons'' above that.
Basically I'd like to make the landscape screen the same idea as the programs tab in TF3D or something like it.
Any ideas... anyone??
I would seriously like to change the big shortcuts as well.I have a dock in my car using the video out. Video out forces Landscape mode. When I hop in my car, I dont want to take notes or check tasks, I want GPS, internet radio, Live Search...
I will dig deep into the registry and let you know what I find.
I want the same thing !!
Video out in the car, so I want to be able to start my Navigation from the landscape-menu.
Jochen
Change Landscape Menu
For the TV out menu that pops on screen after you plug in the video out cable, you can change the shortcuts in the registry.
HKLM\Software\HTC\TVOutPopUp\
There are four links in there, you can change them to any app installed on your phone. Only problem im having is changing the icons.
I have to bump this thread. There must be a customizer out there for the lanscape shortcuts! I just may go back to HTC Home if there is no way to put shortcuts in landscape!
I doubt this is exactly what you're looking for, but herg62123 is working on adding landscape tf3d to his project. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447056
Not quite,
I have my TP docked in landscape in the car and I would like to open apps like NAV, or Picture Dial, or Kinoma Play in landscape.

I don't think there is going to be any easy way to customize those shortcuts. I'm pretty sure the landscape shortcuts are hard-coded in one of the binary manila files.
That sucks!
Well I guess HTC Home will do for now.
You could change the softkeys to point to two of the apps you want to run. Not the perfect solution but it's better than nothing...
I guess....
Maybe I can use 2nd today and set a button to it with AEbutton and have HTC HOME for landscape and TF3D for portrait.
Thoughts?

Sounds like a good solution. I haven't used either product but from what I've read on here that should work. good luck!
Glad to see this topic getting some attention finally
For anyone interested, try out this theme with a slimmed down version of tf3d in landscape. It may suit what you're wanting more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=458036&highlight=landscape
Frankly, though, I didn't like it, and preferred to go back to my old theme. My main goal was having a landscape screen with a handful of a few apps I'm most likely to use, but in this theme you still have to scroll through your entire list of apps installed so, it really wasn't any kind of shortcut.
I'll keep sorting through all the manila files for a solution. Anyone with any reference docs or anything on creating themes or customizing tf3d would help as I've never dealt with it until now.

I've been searching around and noticed that indeed themes do change the "landschape shortcuts" but there doesn't seem to be a "general" program that's able to change them. I'm a little confused, because some reactions state it isn't possible to change these "shortcuts", saying they are hardcoded. Does this mean they're rooted so deep in the code that it's very hard to change them? Anyway I keep following this thread and hopefully some come up with a solution... Keep it up!

GIF Animation as wallpaper in TouchFLO

Hey guys, has anyone successfully used a .gif file as a background in the TouchFLO? I can set it as the background on my Fuze, but it isn't animated. It just stays at the start.
anyone? is this even possible?
Not without some piece of software to handle the transitions, no.
but yet regular unsmart phones can do it

thats what I dont understand? ive been searching and waiting for something to support GIF for either TF3D, today screen, WAD, SPB, and I think its funny it can be done with S2U but nothing else :-( hopefully someday it will happen. I think it would make our backgrounds that much more awesome
yeah i definitely agree... i figured as much about using third party software but that would probably only be for the windows today screen and not for touchflo. ill do some searching and see what i can find, im pretty hell bent on figuring this out.

hi,ive pm you ,thanks
All of the solutions seem to be today plugins. They work but not with TF3D since you cannot set them as backgrounds. The most impressive I've seen is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340222
If you turn off TF3D you can get an airplane flying in the background - pretty neat. Anyone have the ability to convert this into a background for all or some TF3D tabs?

It's not more intuitive at all - you just want it.
I can't see that ever happening with the Sense UI as it would be a major rework of the application. The best you can hope for is a replacement UI that does it, but then you'd have all the inherant problems of that UI, rather than having Sense and the support of these forums.
i would also like it like that=) but.. nv mnd =)

nope u cant!! he want a SLIDING animation.... without maxmanila u can slide ure fingers from left to rigth....and u come to the next tab but without any sliding effect
you have to install a UI like Mobile Shell from SPG, http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/mobileshell/
Unfortunalty you will then miss out some of the nice features in HTC Sense.

[REQ] Manilla sliding pages like iPhone

Hy Guys....
just a quick question to all Manilla Chefs out there....
i had the idea to edit the Manilla, when its possible, to get a Sliding Manilla...
i mean if you look at the iPhone, when you drag the Screnns to the side the next Screenwill smoothly slide in...
in Manilla, whipping with the finger on the screen just manilla jumps to the next page...
i think it shouldn't be the Problem to get the pages too slide, the bottom slider did the trick allready... just want this "goodie" on the hole manilla...
and i doenst need to get the greyed out and big tab Icons while sliding...
hope you understand what i mean...
just an idea but someone has some ideas or knowledge to did this trick!
I remember when the Diamond and Manila 1.0 first came out, there was an animation each time you changed tabs in Manila. It was deacticated later since it was way too slow and people wanted their TF3D experience fast and snappy.
its not very handy to have the slide function as per iphone as:
say you want to go to the second last page, the mannilla scroll bar allows to get there in a single controlled swype but if you had the page scroll like the iphone you would have to scroll through each page or scroll backwards (if its possible) to get to that page.
the point im trying to make is the iphone scroll may well look pretty but the single swipe manilla scroll bar is far more efficient! ask yoursel, is it usefull?
I understand that it wouldn't work very well if it were like the iPhone. Personally I would just like to see the animation back like it was when the diamond came out, I know it was slow then but surly out snapdragon should lap it up now?......
i can confirm that i had the multi swap idea earlier...
nothing to complain about that... this not as handy like now is...
but it looks more smooth...
i found a youtube video where you can see the "old" manilla style did this... its not just swipe the page... .. that was the cause because htc calls his interface 3D ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6TLqDcAJDo
look around 5:40 .... there the guy starts to use it...
maybe its still in the sense? only disabled as we did on tfl3d on diamond by our own? any one knows the keys anymore?? just searched the forum but didn't find something...
hey correct me if i'm wrong...
the 3d slide effects only happens on diamond when clicking a tab...
when sliding the figer over the tab bar it is like in sense 2.5 ... big curtain with big tab icon will apear??

No, fading effects were removed in latest updates to speed up transitions.
It's not due to tweaks, it's due to ROM update.
To get them back install older version of Manila with fade effects.

I agree, i think it looks crap when you swipe and tap and a tab and there is no animation. If it faded or slide it would be much better. Even the old style was really nice. I think it actually makes it feel more responsive too because its doing a animation while the page loads

Have a try with MaxManila 2.5 v 2.7 Main beta: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551489
This gives you the possibility to swype from page to page (from left to right or vice versa).
what??? Where can i set this in MaxManila??? It´ll delete the animation for the shortcuts... but i cant see an option for a page sliding....

the only way to find this out is to install MaxManila 2.5 version 2.7 beta. After that you'll see that you're able to swype from left to right or vice versa without using the "bottom icons slider". It also will not delete your shortcut animations. It even will allow you to hide the shortcuts and bring them back with a swype of your finger from bottom to top of the screen. Read the post of the OP carefully to understand what this theme does.

ok doesn't really understand what you mean...
i can also swipe without maxmanilla without using the tabslider from page to page!!
just wipe obe the main aera...
what we want to get is an animation between the page slides...
dooing this now just jumps from one page to the other... not nice, and it feels and looks like a bit rough ... not as smooth as iphone did this... and i think the smoothnes factor that many iphones users evertime despite is this sluggish hopping page changing in manilla....
Microsoft did it a way better in the new 6.5 Starmenu... just look great and give a good feel...
also the Tab Slides is "animated" like we wannt... why HTC didn't do that onthe "mainpages" ???

maybe yes...
its a starting point to look into an old cab and looks what manilla files did there...
but i'm far away from knowing the manilla depths that we need to implement them...
maybe one of the manilla gurus out there do the trick for us poor people
it would be so nice... if we can slide to the half...hold...and back... like in Iphone Today or Mobile Shell....

Differences, Pros vs Cons of MaxManila vs Cookies Home Tab ?

I have tried Cookies Home Tab, so far I like it...but I have not gotten a chance to try 'maxManila' and I was wondering if you all could provide some pros vs cons, or at least tell me which you personally would prefer and why (if possible)? Or even just tell me what are the differences, or just main differences ?
This would be very helpful... thank you very much in advance and I hope to hear from you all soon! ...
+1. I'd like to know too.
I personally prefer MaxManila. It's very easy to customize, allows you to (re)arrange your homescreen to your own needs (mine is almost empty, besides clock-weather-date and notification icons - no slider). It's compatible with a lot of other cabs/tweaks/progs. It's stable as a rock. I also used Cookie's Home tab for a short while but, at least on my HD2, it is not as stable as MaxManila and it's relatively power hungry (who needs 48 shortcuts anyway?).
Of course this is my personal opinion. Both mods are absolutely great but, alas, they can't function together, thus choices have to be made: MaxManila
There's a release of Co0kie's Home Tab coming soon that should shake things up a little
in cookies you have a nice function to slide your icons from page 1,2 and 3
but in max you have the nice clock functions like the analog clock, and pic your own wallpaper for the animations(animated wallpaper).
i think maxmanila is more fun and cookies more for business
Mostly a question of preference, you should try both and see what you prefer. Maxmanila is not for me, I don't care the slightest about being able to move stuff around, change clock, change borders, sliders,... the stock Sense look is excellent. But I really like having my 3 pages of 5x4 shortcuts, appointments, or empty home screen CHT allows for...

Not for me either, but coockie has announced earlier that adjustable clocks are on his to do list (for the upcoming version). I prefered Max but when coockie introduced his 1.6.1 version (7th of March) I caved...as said above...more for business, but I do miss Max's adjustable clocks.
Coockie's new version should close that gap I sure hope so
I miss the slide function from page to page from my long gone HTC Hero, so I prefer cookie's mod. Maxmanila is good if u like to change the clock and wallpaper often with just some simple and quick click. U should give maxmanila a try to see what u prefer more
