[Q] Driver Issue: Windows XP automatically installs wrong driver.

To preface this, I'm running Windows XP and have an HTC Hero that's running CM6 Froyo. I have been using USB transfer fine for a while. Then, I decided to try out USB tethering and it wouldn't work without the proper HTC RNDIS drivers so I downloaded the drivers and installed them. Now, I can use USB tethering but cannot transfer files via USB. The drive simply doesn't show. I uninstalled the HTC RNDIS driver and plugged in my phone again but windows automatically installs the same HTC RNDIS drivers. I tried manually updating the driver by pointing it to the android USB drivers I got from the android sdk but they won't install. I tried deleting all instances of the RDNIS drivers but windows still automatically installs it. Windows first recognizes my phone as an "Android Phone" but then displays it as "HTC Remote NDIS Device." after installing those drivers. This is extremely frustrating and I'm sick of Windows at this point, or at least the add hardware wizard. Can any one help me please? Thank you.
I have this problem as well.

HTC ChaCha USB

Hi there.
My office PC has restrictions on installing USB Drivers. Is there any possible way to connect the phone to PC to read and write files. Earlier i had Nokia N8 which i could connect to PC using PC Suite mode and read/write to my memory card without any additional drivers (probably windows has those drives preloaded). Also Samsung galaxy S2 can be connected to my PC using Kies Sync to read write to memory card (without any additional drivers being installed). Is this possible with HTC Devices (not specifically chacha as none of the HTC device get recognized)

Yes HTC Sync detects and I am not suppose to install any personal softwares. I dont know how to explain my problem, those who have a S2 or any nokia device will understand better I ll click some images and share to make it more clear..
Both Kies and Ovi Suite install phone drivers. It's impossible to connect a phone without installing drivers, even if as mass-storage device.
Both Kies and Ovi install the drivers when you install the software and connect your phone for the first time. So if your the first one to have ever used N8 or Samsung on your PC then you have installed the drivers

Yes agreed alex. Drivers must be installed for being detected. But have you seen that the drivers for nokia and samsung are never downloaded from windows update or anywhere. The drivers are fetched from the device itself i guess (which shows "searching preconfigured folders" while installing). But incase of HTC devics, it fails..
there is a wireless app on play that allows you to transfer meda files back and forth, but again you ll need to install a wifi dongle via usb unless you are using a laptop
Just use Box. http://www.box.com/

fastboot on Windows 8.1 -64bit ?

Hi all,
I can't seem to connect to my HTC One S via fastboot on Windows 8.1 64-bit. I just downloaded the HTC Sync manager and I believe it also installs the latest HTC drivers. I also have the latest Android SDK Manager with the Google USB drivers installed. I have not installed any API's from the Android SDK Manager, should I?
When I reboot my phone to bootloader and go to Fastboot Windows 8.1 does can not recognize my HTC One S I looked around and found a solution for the HTC One. However I have not tried it with my phone. Does anyone know if it will work without harm? My laptop also has only USB 3.0 slots.

I have no problem with Windows 8.1 recognizing my HTC One S when it is turned on. I can transfer files without problem.
in windows 8.1 fastboot is not working yet. in windows 8 it's ok. i have read somewhere that some people got it worked with usb 3.0 but i am not sure. i don't have a usb 3.0 port on my pc so i cannot test it, but you can do a search.
i have usb3.0 and not working
Asus p8z68-v lx with laterst drivers
Windows 8.1 Pro X64
HTC One S
I ended up using a Windows 7 PC. Too bad because Windows 8.1 is really a great system. Anyway, in my first post I've shared the link to the post that explains how to install USB 3.0 drivers by Intel. They say that the Intel drivers work, however I really don't wanna go through the whole procedure. Whoever does go through it, please share your experience
Um...
It works perfectly...

Is there a way for HTC drivers to work on Windows 10?

Hello
I've tried different drivers from HTC Sync and Sync Manager with no luck, even the generic Google ones. The adb and fastboot tools are working fine, but the Desire S cannot be identified, shown as broken etc. Is there a way for it to work on Windows 10 ver 1511 (10586.164) or do I need to use Ubuntu?
