Hi!
I working in the Hungarian Localisation for Android 1.6. If i finish, want to put the localisation to Android code. How can i do this?
ROM Developers, email to me, and i send the laguage files to put to the roms.
Unfortunately, as of October last year, contributing localizations to AOSP wasn't really possible. I recommend you contact the android-platform mailing list and find out if Google's gotten their acts together on this.

Hi All,
We have released PhonePlus third edition.
The new relase features (among other things) new easy-on-the-eye skin and SMS support.
Thank you for the support, beta testing and feedback.
We are now looking for contributers of language packs.
PhonePlus! support easy extendability of lanuages.
We currently have English and Hebrew, but if anyone is willing to translate to other langs he is very welcome to send us the translated lang file.
We will post them in our site, as well as on the retailers (PocketGear and HandAndGo).
Our site, www.mesoftware.biz, has the template for the empty lang file, feel free to experimante:
Edit this file on your computer using "notepad".
In the first line you have "name=" please add your language name in the blank area, for example: name=spanish.
Now fill in every number line your own language letters.
i.e. - "1.Text= abc" just like on your usual cell phone, and continue filling in all of those ".text=" places.
If you have uppercase letters on your language, fill those blanks with your uppercase letters as well.
After you have done all that, save the file as "your language.lng" for example "spanish.lng".
This file should be placed under the /program files/phoneplus folder in your device.
When opening your phoneplus software, you will notice that the right button has changed and now has your language name on it. You can choose your language as the default language by going to "options". Now you can write SMS or look for contacts in any language you want.
We may release in the future some app to automaticly (or GUI-ly) edit the lang files, but for now we feel it is rather stright-forward.
So, I would to hear more feedbacks and comments, if aynone can spare some...
Regards,
Micha

As Pocket PC Phone Edition users, we are facing some problems with the Built-in SMS Application, I hope you can solve it...:
- Sending and Receiving EMS, or at least Receiving only...
- Sending and Receiving vCard and vBusiness with normal mobiles like Nokia, SE, Moto...etc...
Nice application but.... (yes, there's always a 'but')...
There seems to be a problem with the Green Button assignment on my MDA2. It worked for some brief time but eventually failed and launches the original dialer.
It seems more like a problem with the OS, since I tried other dialers (MobiDial) and the same Green Button problem exsists there....
Any ideas? :?:
Hello mates,
I am almost finished with the development of my "Profiles for Windows Mobile" version 2.0 (formerly known as "Profiles"). Unfortunately I do not own all devices available on the market (but sooner or later I will!), thus I can't test my application against all possible scenaria.
If anyone of you would like to participate to the Beta testing of PWM, the only thing to do is to send an email to "pwmbeta(at)winmobileapps.com", specifing the device you own (e.g.: Qtek S200/HTC Prophet), your name (or nickname, if you wish), country and spoken language.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you need any further details.
M.
i just send a mail for you
and now what can i do???
I'm afraid you'll have to be patient just a little !
Based on Elminster's MIcrOfal kitchen wwe 20769 I have been messing about with the mui files. In the end I cooked a rom with most basic apps but now in dutch language.
Anyone wanting to test it and advice on further development is welcome.
Find it here
I have just deleted the rapidshare link, because today I found out that however almost every function worked, the most important one didn't. In my enthousiasm I only tested the ring function of the phone bit and that worked. However making or accepting a phone call doesn't work. So back to the drawing board and some bug hunting.
Keep you posted when all is fixed.
Sorry folks, too soon.
I have rebuilt the ROM and for now it is working great. All basic functions included and working.
Download it from here
Hi,
This is a great great problem in my country without a solution yet:
Turkish characters are not shown in the recieved SMSs. Instead of them only a space there.
For example:
written by another phone and sent to android: "yoğurt yiyorum şu anda"
the recieved message: "yo urt yiyorum u anda"
The phones which are bought from Turkey and not flashed a custom rom don't have this problem.
They (actually, all the phones those are sold here, in Turkey) have an expression on their boxes: “This device is in accordance with ETSI TS 123.038 V8.0.0 (or the code of the subsequent version) and ETSI TS 123.040 V8.1.0 (or the code of the subsequent version) technical features that include all the Turkish characters.”
I think, the custom ROMs are not in accordance with these standards.
I have two android phones at the moment: a Galaxy Spica i5700 (bought from Turkey), and a Nexus S (which I bought from US).
Spica had the Turkish characters first. But I have rooted and flashed the phone, so lost the characters. Since I don't have the original ROM, I can not get them back...
Until here, I tried to describe the problem.
Now I will give what I have that can help to solve the problem:
1- ETSI links: They are not the exact versions but the closest that I could find.
ETSI TS 123 038 V8.3.0
ETSI TS 123 040 V9.2.0
2- An Original Turkish ROM: it's for Galaxy S i9000
http://www.multiupload.com/ZCLE3EOPWH (it's a PIT file)
It will be a great favor if anyone can solve this problem...
Thanks in advance,
Erkam

I think you are possibly doing this in the wrong area. I think that if you want traction with a change like this, that you would need to do one of three things.
1) Contact maintainers or on the boards of a ROM you like to use (Cyanogen, etc)
2) Try to get it noticed by Google on their official Bug Tracker and Feature Request Tracker for support in stock Android OS
3) Code the fix yourself, Cyanogen source and "AOSP" stock android are available, and introducing character-set capabilities into the messaging app aren't exactly trivial things, however, with time and dedication I am sure it is possible.
I agree that foreign character coding out of stock Android isn't always there, or if it is, it isn't universal across all of the stock applications (like your example of SMS/Messaging application). Does this do this also in GoogleVoice? Or maybe you don't have access to Google Voice since you are outside of the US.
First, I want to thank you a lot for spending your time to answer
I tried your second advice but did not get a solution, yet. Still waiting.
I wanted to try the 3rd one too, actually. But I need to gain more computer/coding skills to achieve that. I could not even find an understandable guide to learn (or maybe I am too noob to understand).
So, the remaining advice is the first one and I am going to take it immediately
As you said, since I am outside of the US, I do not have access to Google Voice, unfortunately.
But, if it is ok for you, I can send a message to your google voice to check it.
by the way, ofcourse, it is not only a problem of Turkey, but also Spain, France etc.. I could not find a solution in their forums, neither.
Thanks again, for your help.

Is it the same hTC Ozone that you were trying to translate a couple of months ago?
If so - I can try it.

HTC Ozone is almost fully translated by one person ... I have more phones to translate.
try you're looking for at melgurth or find at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1586293&postcount=73
I have listed a complete set of activities that you need to do for localization at the end of Beginners Guide to Windows Mobile (prepare for cooking). The various task's efforts vary quite much depending on the perfection of adaptation you want to achieve.
Especially the Settings Menu is very hard to translate due to its dependency on the system's generic provisioning handler (and related database entries for menu items).
Post is still OPEN
If anyone is interested in creating just CAB file with translated MUI files and registry entries of WM6.5 to PL POLISH POLSKI just let me know. In return will send smartphone.
I will send You the phone model to translate.
