(yeah I searched) I have several 'dead' entries in my wallpaper picker probably from messing around with a2sd and such, and I'm wondering where they are stored so I can get rid of them.
Thanks

those look like standard unix preference files like on my Mac. Do I want to delete the one for com.Android.Wallpaper or com.htc.FilePicker?
whats under the com.android.wallpaper dir? btw check my edit from my last post
I'll try to delete that wallpaper file under /data/data/com.android.settings/files and see what happens. I'll post back in a little.
EDIT: haha deleting that wallpaper file just removed my wallpaper and set it to default. So, gotta try something else
Edit2: I've tried deleting a ton of things off my phone that have either album, or wallpaper as a part of their name. none of which have gotten rid of those wallpaper. i give up :-/

Just for fun I'm going to remove my dalvik cache and reboot.
EDIT: made no difference
Alright, so I couldn't give up
Where exactly did you go to select the wallpapers that have been removed? ie. Htc wallpapers, photos, wallpaper gallery?
Are you referring to the one's in the attached picture
it was in the extra entry just called wallpaper. I think its related to the aloyociois ROM because that's the only ROM I have that uses launcher 2

Looks like it does. I still have mine show up, but they force close when trying to select them. I don't care though. I love this one.
Here you go. Screenie!
If anybody wants to take this and load it into the stock live wallpapers, maybe even add the Samsung Galaxy live wallpapers in it, that would be awesome. That is beyond my capabilities right now though.

Did you get any error message in ADB or did it tell you how much data was pushed? Also, I'm assuming you went ahead and set the wallpaper manually.

This is probably a newbie question, but if I load up this APK, how do I get back my original live wallpapers? I use the HTC Droid Incredible, btw.
question to those that have it ...are there settings in this lwp like change background or maybe the color of the eye ..or what i see is what i get from the pic shown

Try this
Code:
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk LiveWallpapers.apk
That will pull your old Live wallpapers. Put those where you can find them later and put the new LiveWallpaper.apk in your <sdk>/tools folder (because you can't have two files with the same name in the same directory).
Then proceed as directed in the first post.

No settings. Just the option to save it. You can probably change the back ground though by pulling apart the .apk
** EDIT **
Okay, so I tried opening the apk and replacing the droid_bg.jpg only to find out whatever I replace it with comes up as a blank white screen (I even sized it to the odd 1025x1025 size the old one was even though both of them had large white areas in the .jpg). If anybody else wants to give it a try, I am attaching the wallpaper I was trying to use. It is the default regular wallpaper from the Droid X

I'm a total newbie, so I haven't rooted yet. I don't think I'm considered a "power user" yet, so I didn't want to accidentally brick my phone. I came over from blackberry, so I'm still getting used to this new system. Soon enough I'll be getting my hands dirty with this rooting business.
Anyways, I don't have the ability to pull the original Live Wallpapers... would it be possible for someone else to pull theirs, and post the APK online for me? I've been using "AppInstaller" to implement all of the APK's I've downloaded. Just been playing around with the Galaxy S LWPs. If it's a hassle, don't worry about it. I'll figure root soon enough.
Thanks for the quick reply, by the way!!
Can someone upload a version thats not .apk so i can download it on my phone, im at work
standalone version
Credit to ccunningham83 for posting this.
Standalone version
This is what I did:
decompiled,
changed the package and app name,
removed LWPs that install by default,
rebuilt,
signed
updates:
1)removed unnecessary images too, file size now 1.1MB
2)added Blue, Cyan, Green and Golden eyes!
3)added a blue eye version with alternate background.
4) 7/15/10, added grey version by request.
5) 8/30/10, by request added a red version with black background. No smoke.
6) 9/15/2010, by request added a new red version with the smoked grey background
7) 1/20/2011, green eye with colored smoke
Screenshots:
To uninstall:
Code:
adb uninstall com.android.wallpaperx
APK attached, install as normal.
MediaFire Links:
[blue] [cyan] [gold] [green] [red] [blue-alternate bg]
[grey]
[red-greybg]
[green-colored smoke bg]
Here is a video by myghtymouse19 showing all versions on an EVO:
I had issues trying to remount so copied the file to the root of SD then used Root Explorer to copy and paste as R/W into /system/apps/ then click on the the apk and install it... then youll have it. Also even though you overwrite the default wallpapers, this file is the default wallpapers file with one file added the droid x eye lwp, thats all... so your not loosing anything.
Thanks Britoso! Works great!
Brilliant work guys, especially britoso.
Just adding that this also works fine on the Desire. I just used Astro to install britoso's .apk and it worked fine. It even kept all my current Live Wallpapers and just added DROID X to them.
Hope no-one minds but I made a post in the Desire forum pointing to this thread to share the love!
Thanks again,

I'm running 2.2 Vanilla - I use Drocap, personally, but I downloaded Shootme to test it out for you. Mine don't show up in the *Gallery* right away, but they are indeed on the sdcard. I used Astro to navigate to /sdcard/Shootme.
I think upon boot the OS scans your SD card for new photos and aggregates them into your gallery. If I'm not mistaken, the only other time it aggregates new photos is if you actually *open* the photo through Astro or something, thus adding it to the OS's database file. Kind of how it takes the OS a while to generate thumbnail previews the first time you boot a fresh ROM install.
Hope this helps...
Yeah, I knew they were stored, I just thought it's strange cause they were loaded into to the galleries immediately with all other roms I tried including skyraider 1.x.

Your right, it has never been like that before. Its also doing the same thing on The Second Wave. Kind of a pisser.
I am using the stock 2.2 leak from 8/1 and that shows the picture in the gallery instantly.
For me the bigger question is how go you tell it what folders to show and not show in the gallery? I font think I need to see my cache folder or some other app folders in there.

I did not know this. Thank you for the heads up.
I might be missing something here but I can't apply a wallpaper without it being either bad quality (even with a high quality image) or misc. launchers and apps. I am running CM7.
I have the same problem, and also the wallpaper keeps changing to the wallpaper from the lock screen. I'm sure there's a solution posted somewhere.
I'm sure there are plenty of ways to do this, but I used the Kindle Fire Utility. Under "Extras", there's an option to lock or unlock the wallpaper. Unlock the wallpaper, make your change, and then lock it again. Mine hasn't changed since.
I think the quality problem has something to do with how the device is scaling the image if it's not the correct resolution.
I found that it's very hard to get a wallpaper to look good in both landscape and portrait view depending on the resolution. This is unfortunate because I have a ton of wallpapers that would look great on the kindle but they just don't display right.
Having issues with this myself...tried the lock / unlock..no luck.

The default factory setting is unlocked (and lock screen changes the wallpaper every time it is cycled) so use bebrooks1 method (post #3)...it worked for me on stock rooted.

As far as I know, the accepted method for properly setting wallpapers (on Android in general) is to use an app such as Wallpaper Set And Save from the market. It'll set the wallpaper at the original image quality.
I always use Wallpaper Wizardri to set my wallpapers......but with this postiive comes a negative....for some reason it constantly runs in the background. I just use Titanium Backup Pro to freeze it and unfreeze it whenever I need to change wallpapers. Works like a charm.

Downloaded this app and tried it out and it doesnt work. The wallpaper is still very blurry. Looks nothing like the image i selected for the wallpaper.
To change the wallpaper on your kindle and make it "stick", do the following:
Set your wallpaper
Open Root Explorer
Navigate to data/data/com.Android.settings/files/wallpaper
Long press on wallpaper, select permissions from the menu that drops down.
Uncheck the "write" permission for all users then click OK.

Yes I am.
It's /data/, not /sdcard/data or anything else.
I assume you are rooted...what file explorer are you using?
I use ES File Explorer 1.6.1.0 from the Market (not Amazon because last I checked they were a version or two behind)
Then go into settings a scroll to bottom and select ROOT EXPLORER and when asked I think I selected the CM option (and for good measure select MOUNT FILE SYSTEM, although I don't think that is required unless you are working in the /system/ folder).
Now you should see the contents of the /data/ folder...
Hope this helps.

Has anyone figured this out yet? There's a lot of talk in this thread about something entirely different. Most of us know how to make it so the wallpapers no longer change.
What I'm curious about is how to set a wallpaper and not have it extremely stretched and blurry. Neither of the apps listed on the previous page achieve this goal (Wallpaper Set and Save & Wallpaper Wizardii).
This is on the stock ROM (using Go Launcher EX).

Download Wallbase. It's a wallpaper app that I've had excellent results with. Not everything out there will work with tablets. This one does and has TONS of wallpapers in it, HD, and just about all of them look like they were made for tablets.
By the way, the mod that was given earlier regarding how to keep your wallpaper from changing WORKS.

Afterwards when back looking for /data/data/com.android.settings/files I saw wallpaper whose permissions in write column had to be changed.
First off, big thank you to JRW 28 for the Lithium 1.2.1 Rom. I absolutely love it.
This is my first time rooting my phone and installing any kind of custom rom, and I'm very happy with the results.
However, I changed my wallpaper to a live wallpaper just to see what it was like, and I want to set it back to the default wallpaper that came with the rom.
When I go back to try and reset it, I cannot find the default wallpaper anywhere. I also tried browsing my sdcard etc on the computer, but wasn't able to find the image anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Or if you wanna play with your new found root access, you could navigate to /system/framework/framework-res.apk, view the apk and go to /res/drawable-hdpi folder and copy/extract the default_wallpaper file to your sdcard for future personal use..

Riiight... Lithium doesn't have the stock launcher... You could try to install the BlurHome2.apk, (there should be some zips around)..
Might also need Moto Home Fix from Play Store if you wanna keep two launchers - but freeze or uninstall it if you stick with the stock Blur launcher as it's mainly to help switching between launchers and could mess with your home button a bit...
Also, that size of pic is normal.. it may be the wallpaper chooser that doesn't resize it properly. I think i noticed that when i was on go launcher, or with a different version of My Gallery..
Good luck!

I had the exact same problem as you did trying to get that wallpaper back...
I really do like it a lot & I think it's the best of the entire bunch that is included in that ROM.
The long answer to your question is in this thread, second post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480248, which states,
How i can get the blue eye (or any other) wallpaper again?
Which ROM was it in? Do you still have the .zip?
- Pull the system/app/Launcher.apk
- Unzip it. Yes, apk is a zip file.
- Look in res/drawable-hdpi folder.
Although I did manage to open the apk file mentioned above, I did not see that particular image at all. I even tried a bunch of other files, and of course, it wasn't there, either.
Needless to say, I managed to find the wallpaper I was looking for on another of lumin30's posts and I saved it to my harddrive.
*************************************************************************************************************************
I stand corrected. If you follow lumin30's instructions, (written directly below this post), then you will indeed find that exact file. It is called, "default_wallpaper.jpg". From what I can tell, it's the only wallpaper that is in that file.
*************************************************************************************************************************
I know that some images need to be resized depending on the launcher that you're using. I kept having problems with my wallpapers fitting correctly when I was using Go Launcher EX.
I read around on the Internet & found a post suggesting an app called Wallpaper Wizard ii. It's available on Google Play Store for free. The good thing about that app is that you can use it on whatever image you want.
Before you give up, perhaps you should give that a try.
The default wallpaper is found in the \system\framework\framework-res.apk.
Then in framework-res.apk --> \res\drawable
I tried the picture you posted but when I try to use it as my background, it's a blurry and not the whole picture

does anyone know how to put the whole background in?? because it forces me to crop it and i dont want that
Whenever I used Wallpaper Wizard ii, I just set it to "scale" & it looked good to me.
I can't tell you for sure what all that did, but I was satisfied with the results.
Good luck & don't forget to let us know if you find something that works better for you.

Couldnt he just push the .apk to /system/framework and boot to recovery and fix permissions? That would avoid having to reflash and download apps right?
