Hi guys
After a hard reset i lost my software "Voice Dialling"
Does anybody knows how to recover/get the software back in my phone??
Pleas help
Irek
Which one Voice Dialling? VITO ???? did u backup your PPC-alldata? if yes ? you can lost only your voice-tag data ? before HR backup your voice tag to STcard
I do not know the name of the program, I did not back it up. It came pre-installed in the device.
I only know when I push the button on the side of the phone the female voice was asking me to say the number I want to dial. And then she would ask is it correct?
That software is now gone and I cant make a voice dialling calls anymore.
Is there any passible way that you could send me this program;
or are the any other way/place where i can get it?
Thank you, Irek

This sounds like Fonix Voice dial. I comes on the CD with some MDA Minis. Do you have the CD?
You can order it from www.fonix.com online.
Yes i did find out it was Fonix i am missing now.
I do have 2 cd's but there is not Fonix on it?
I would like to have it even if it never worked ok on my phone.
All she said was "pleas speak more clearly"
I was never able to diale the number useing my Fonix.
Where can i find it in my cd ? I guess i do not have it at all.

AT&Ts website says that it supports voice dialing. The Samsung Galaxy S website says that there should be a Voice Command app. Where is it? I don't see it anywhere! I paried up my bluetooth headset and when I push the button (which on my last phone would activate Voice Dial) nothing happens.
Anyone??
Voice dialing via bluetooth on Android 2.1 doesn't work.
Android 2.2 fixes it (Nexus One FTW!), who knows when Captivate will get the update.
Tap and hold the Search button to activate voice search.
There should be an app called Voice Dialing. Use that to voice dial.

I beg to differ, I just figured this out. You can say "call -contact name-" and it dials the number.

Don't know what magic you're doing, but when I do that it just does a google search for "call [contact name]"
My Captivate does the same thing, I have tried to voice dial and all it does is google search. Everyone keeps saying there is an app but there isn't. It is pissing me off, I downloaded apps and none of them work. This really really bites.
I will be watching this thread anxiously.
But I may be making progress! I have purchased VLingo, and it looks like it may end up working like Microsoft Voice Command.
I just did a "Call <First/Last Name> on Mobile, and it dialed".
I'll post back as I progress. This is exactly what I"m looking for.

I'm not sure either then. I simply hold the search button at the bottom-right of the phone, it prompts for voice, then i simply say "call XXXXXXX" and it dials. I do have to say the entire contact name, though, both first and last name, exactly how it appears in the list. But it works
I just tried it and it worked for me too. FAST.
What is missing is a validation step, like MS Voice command offers. It will never understand you correctly all the time.
No Voice Dial for Me Too!
I don't seem to have the ability to voice dial either.
Speaking a contact's name into the Google utility only pulls up a Google search.
I would be interested to know if the people that are having similar problems have their phones rooted or not.
I am rooted.
I am rooted, as of this morning, and it was just an hour or so when I realized I could do it with Google search and didn't need Vlingo

I could do it before I was rooted
When I use voice dial I have to say contact name and either mobile or home or work to get it to work right.
How is Voice Dial Activated?
How, exactly, are successful users activating Voice Dial?
Is it just by pressing the microphone button on the Google search bar on the home screen? Or is there supposed to be a dedicated "Voice Dial" app?
Also, where are the settings located to configure voice dial?
I was able to get it work. I use the google search widget and click the microphone then speak. BUT, it only finds contacts that are from Google. If I try to call any of my Exchange contacts it does a google lookup, but if it is a contact from google sync (gmail/voice) it works fine.
I can't get mine to work. Been trying it for the past two days.
The google search voice command isn't voice dialing for me. I have no idea what is going on. HELP ME lol

I can't wait for a custom ROM to fix all the problems including this.
We've Been Scammed!!!
AT&T has scammed us!
I chatted online today with ATT support and the person said that I would have to pay monthly for their voice dial service. After telling her, politely, where to stick her voice dial service, she suggested that I contact Samsung.
After 45 mins, and two support people later, it was finally explained to me that the Captivate is the only version of the Galaxy S that does NOT come equipped with the Voice Command software and that I would have to purchase a third party app from the Market in order to get that capability.
So what it looks like to me is that ATT had the voice command function removed on the Captivate so they could push their own voice dial plan for $4.99 per month.
BASTERDS!!!
I can't wait for the ROMs to start rolling out so I can exact my revenge!

you have to say the full name thats in the address book for it to immediately dial as well. if you dont it shows the "did you mean" box and you can choose from there.
I installed Vlingo from Marketplace. Works like a charm. The programs from Marketplace are all pretty cheap compared to WindowsMobile.
My voice dial works. however I have to enunciate very clearly and quickly.
"call Contact Name" brings me to the Contact's page to select which number to dial.
"call Contact Name mobile" dials immediately.
There is even a confirmation feature for my phone where it gives a pop up with my Contact's picture with a ring slowly rotating around it with an option to "dial" or "cancel" doing nothing until the ring completes it's 360 degree rotation will default to dialing, pressing dial will dial immediately, and cancel will cancel the command.
My firmware version is 2.1-update1

Any truth to this claim that the Sensation doesn't support bluetooth voice dialing? Close to a deal breaker for me...
Thought all phones can with google voice search installed?
:|
let's face it.. voice commands really do suck on Android to be honest. always takes several seconds to go to the cloud and back, and even then it's not quite right. Vlingo is a LOT better than Google's Voice Search when it comes to contact names.. but still so darn slow.
is there no app to just do voice recognition locally on the device, so that it's quick?
Android has its own native Bluetooth Voice Dialing app.... I connect my phone to my car stereo, press the button on my stereo, and it pulls up the Bluetooth Voice Dialer asking me to say a name..... at least thats how it was on my G2....
Hopefully Sensation has no problems in this area.... can someone who has a Sensation confirm or deny, please?
I can confirm that bluetooth voice dialing IS NOT functional for some reason. HTC needs to get this fixed ASAP.
This is a big deal... how have more people not complained about this?
Has anyone tried using voice command to set up speed dial???
I think it totally fails.......
Hold windows key ==> say "Save speed dial"
then say "1"
And THEN it wants you to say the phone number you want to save.... which wouldnt be too bad if ...the PHONE CAN ACTUALLY VOICE RECOGNIZE YOUR NUMBERS!!!!!
Believe me, i tried several ways to input the phone number but failed miserably. I even used google translate to voice the numbers and that didnt work also.
Anyone got any tips? This feature should be elaborated more!!!
You can check the website for more info about the voice recognition

Apart From Voice to text not working well with my a Australian accent now when i compose a message with it it does not seem to ask me to confirm retry or anything else it just shows the message in the thread. Does anyone know whats up ?
Yah it doesn't really work for me too well either with my Boston accent.... I don't pronounce "r"'s in alot of words...
Got better in mango though... Little better if you allows the phone to send to Microsoft.

@leftspeaker2000: It does that if you just open the messaging hub and hit the mic button. If you want to do the fully voice-driven experience, you need to press-and-hold Start and then use the voice command. Say "Text: <NAME>" with a brief pause where the colon is. The phone will also enter that mode if you receive a text when it's configured to use speech to read it to you.
Hope that helps!
