The hero hardware doesnt compare to the iphones. The hero just got livewallpapers not to long ago do to just recently get android 2.1. Nothing compared to Vwallpapers, but as close as you will get. Its just a moving background.

Something with hardware like the EVO, Nexus One etc will be needed to support a feature like that.

If HTC would enable a separate GPU support this would be possible.

It would be a big battery drain on current android phones. If it ran at all times in the background. Or even for just short times, it would still.

I would think this would be doable on the Hero, or any Android device. It's not much more than using a GIF image as a background.

Then it wouldnt be Vwallpapers. I was googling the app, it can play mp4 and of course iphone video as your wallpaper. Here is a site that has some
http://www.thememyphone.com/thumbnails-155.html
Even people talking about the phone in popular blogs say it would be a big battery drain. Now on our htc heros thats a big issue.
We just got livewallpapers. Much less a video running in the background. While simultaneously moving and operating the desktop of htc sense.

yeah i kinow i have some videos on youtube showing with i was doing with v-wallpapers but i can't post them in here it keep tellimng me for spam reasons. I think if the hero can support livewallpapers i should be able to do it and yes v-wallpapers was a big battery drain but i had a car charger so i really didnt mind.

It should be doable. it is just showing a looping video. With out sound, if that is playing sound as well that would be really annoying.

How did it affect your battery life? I have to imagine your time between charges got drastically reduced.
I stopped using live wallpapers since it ate battery.

it was alright it wasn't bad as u wouid think i would say about the same battery life as when u use live wallpapers and keep gps on on the hero. But as i said as long as i had a car charger it didn't really affect me. I wish i could post my youtube videos to show just how nice this app was.

You can lower media's volume with the Android as well, it would be nice to have this on our phones bg.. and seeing how fast creativity flows in XDA it would be soon till someone posts it.. You can edit your thread as Dev for Live Anime Wallpapers and see if devs come and work together and make it happen..

Post the Link but put a space between 1 of the letters . www.yahoo. com for example
I've been looking everywhere for the door unlock sound from Jet Force Gemini, but it is like impossible to find. It would be the PERFECT notification sound.

Sent from my HTC EVO 4G using Tapatalk Pro.
I tend to pull a lot of sounds from all these cool sound board apps, like the star wars one and the Mario Soundboard, both offer the option to export sounds to your notifications folder on your SD card.
Does anyone have any good little horn notification sounds? Like the iPhone has a stock one, one of those little horns attached to a bike you squeeze.
Let me see if this will work. I made these from a digital watch beep. I made a single and a double. I use the double for a top of the hour signal and the single for the :30 of the hour. Those of you who were old school enough, might remember the casio digital watches of the early 80's that did that same thing. Some even played songs. The digital watches of today only give a chime at the top of the hour. I used app called alarms to accomplish this. If I pay attention, I know what time it is without even looking at the phone or watch by listening to the beeps. Let's see if this works...
They are nice and clean and loud without clipping or distorting.

I use that occasionally.
I made a .zip of a few I tend to use:
bike horn (single)
bike horn (dbl)
airplane cabin chime
duck quack (my twitter sound)
ESPN alert
This, by far, is the best sms tone ever made.
I present, the Starcraft sms tone. Its the one of the robotic chick that beeps at you and then says "Receiving incoming transmission."
Download it here : http://www.megaupload.com/?d=C19GJC71
Enjoy.

Make a 'notifications' folder in the root of your sdcard. Place them there.
Going back like 6 or so years, I have always used the Mail Motherf**ker from the movie Eurotrip for all my text/notification sounds.
I've tried different ones over the years but for some reason I keep coming back to this one after a few days.
EDIT: I should say it is nothing great but just thought I'd share.

Yeah, it was a very huge jump(at least for me). I kept waiting and waiting for a decent enough phone(sprint wise) to upgrade to but nothing kept my attention. All my friends would have the latest and the greatest and I was sporting the 8300 lol

I made a folder called media in root of storage card
inside made a folder called audio
then inside of audio made 3 folders (alarms, ringtones, notifications)
placed files in appropriate folders.
If they don't show up after you disconnect from your PC, try a reboot. Then they should all be there. (there may be other ways, but this has worked for me for all custom tones)

retro boot ani

Hey all i was thinking about modding the retro boot ani and thought i would post here and see if anyone had any suggestions or would be interested in me posting the finished ani. Basically all i am thinking about doing atm is adding some sound. maybe some beeps like and old computer bios posting and then a dial up modem connecting when the ani getts to the 3G connecting part then when the android comes up and android is spelt out have it fade to static and the have it make the "DROID" noise. ait is gonna take a bit of work on my part cause i have no idea how to get the timing right but i am gonna try.
any help or suggestions would be appreciated, and if anyone want to take a shot at this or wants my finished product let me know.

All I can say is good luck lol The sound is a tricky issue as many ROM developers disable the bootup sounds (In case your phone accidentally reboots in a meeting or class lol could cause trouble). If I may make a suggestion though, don't go with the old bios boot animation that's floating around; I already updated it for Android 2.2 and themed it for a few ROMs (as well as making a generic one). Check the link in my sig for the thread to download the updated ones. As I'm typing this, I was thinking, you're probably gonna have your best luck starting simple. I would just try and add a beep to start with towards the beginning. Reason I say this is, before I got started on Android, I was and am a musician and I have a home studio. One of the trickiest things to do is to get audio and video that were recorded/created separately to sync up in post production. It's tricky on a $5000 dual quad-core Mac Pro tower with 12gb of physical RAM, so just imagine that it's gonna be a migraine and a half trying to do it on a phone... I would say, due to the widely varying different kernel and ROM configurations out there, that syncing up any multiple audio/video events that would then work on any phone would be damned near impossible. I'm not saying don't try it, hell I'll help any way I can, but I just want you to be aware of what you're getting in to... If I didn't already say so, AWESOME idea though ^_^ I think I would J.I.M.P. if Gingerbread allowed you to use a short .avi or .mp4 (more likely) video as a boot animation, then it would be easy to do what you're talkin about! We can only hope and dream... Keep me posted bro!
thanks for your response and yes i am aware it will be a head-ache. i once spliced together video i shot of my buddys band on a handycam with audio that was professionally recorded of the show. while it wasn't to bad i did have to deal with syncing chunks at a time cause the guy that edited the audio broke it into diff songs for one and i also had a couple times when the cam shut off. mostly i was just posting to see if after i do all this work on it would anyone else even want it also lol. the one i have now it one of the ones made for the incredible i believe i will have to pull it apart and double check tho.
again thanks for your intrest

These are a few gripes I have with the app, the first one being the most important:
When going through the library of artists, once you pick an artist you are taken to all songs by the artist and not to a list of the albums by the artist. Sometimes when pressing the back button, the app closes to the homescreen instead of showing the previous screen. If you're playing a song and are browsing your playlist, album list, etc. there's no quick way to return to the player screen that shows the current song that's playing.

I agree, that's a biggie.
I just upload a video of the app to youtube. It is my first video so dont expect pro stuff Just a video of fingering around with PowerAmp
Thanks for the great video, I learnt a few new things from it
This is definitely the best audio player I've seen on any mobile device, PERIOD!
this is really nice! TFS!
Although the widget could be better..and the home screen of the app could be made simpler but overall this is nice...
definitely nice to have SD folder view!
I winder how it would par with MixZing
Trying it out right now so far loving it good looking out great media player
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
I picked this up and I really like it so far. The ui is great even though there are a few oddities still. When selecting an mp3 from Astro it goes to the player but it doesn't play the file I just selected...the player comes up with the last song that was being played. Still messing with it though and it looks great so far.
i think one feature that would make this a killer music player... that if its possible to restrict musics off one folder (eg. "Music") in the root of SD... this way i dont have to listen to machine gun and other android game sound fx on my media player... veryyy annoying..!!!!

EDIT, 04/27/11:
Make sure you download it from the market:

I am going to talk about a plug-in I wrote for the Sony Ericsson LiveView.
However, if you guys wish to discuss development for that device or how to make it work better, this is also welcome because it is both intriguing and under-represented (and a bit maddening at times)
Anyway, I was flabbergasted when I realized that there isn't any straightforward "watch" plug-in for the LiveView so in a couple hours I figured out how to use the SDK and created one.
I am not releasing it yet and I will only make it available it there is interest for it and I get the appropriate permissions from the people whose art I have used for this proof of concept app.
By the way, more face and hands art would be welcome!
A few (terrible) screenshots:
My LiveView was sent from the website i ordered it from, today=) I would really such an addon=)
And i can make you some artwork if i get something to work with=)
Oh, that's good.
I hope it works well for you. The device losing its pairing can be quite aggravating.
On the other hand it is a breeze to develop for; actually simpler than writing a home screen widget.
A friend of mine got it last week and said that he had lost his pairing once since he got it set up.
To me no development is a breeze i know squat about programing
But as said i would love to make you some graphics you could use so that you can release this=)
^^
I just received a sms from my post office that my LiveView had arrived
and here are a little graphic preview of some artwork you might use(?) It shows the whole thing, background, minute hand and hour hand=)
I really think you should release this addon
Ha! I like it a lot, in fact.
Can you post it as three files as described at http://www.voilaweb.com/lv_faq#createtheme?
Oh, and I updated the OP with a link to the beta apk
Will do, Just have to make some minor changes as the big and short hand are the same. and also added some indicators on the clock face.
Edit: Also, will you support this addon? i mean like bugs and stuff?
I guess, I will have to, yes
So, anyone go any feedback for me?
hey man.
i just installed your app from market and it's looking great.
i guess you can make a clock with digits or maybe a digital one.
it still disconnects but at least i have a watch
one other thing maybe you can ad an always on screen option
MrJay, first off, thanks for your feedback
The "always on" option would be nice but I invite you to think about this some more...say until your device dies on you because its damn battery is already too weak for the plug-in's current version
EDIT: OK I really don't want to sound negative. The device is really nice. I just wish it had better connectivity and battery life.
In fact, the tricks I read on how to force it to reconnect using AutomateIt, etc., end up sucking battery life like crazy.
The only thing i have to say about this addon, is that its a bit slow to update when i wake the screen. might take a sec before the clock shows the correct time.
Other than that, i love it
Thanks Marius.
Yes, I know about the 1 sec. delay it's due to sending as few updates to the device as possible, to improve battery life.
But maybe I could slightly alter this behavior for a "wake up" event.
BTW, I hope you guys are using the version from the market! It's free, but more likely to get updates than the one on my blog.

Where can I order this I'm interested I live in California if that makes a difference
Well, Spitfire, so do I. I ordered from these guys: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004E2V4NM and it was shipped from Florida.

Awesome design. I fear that the LiveView's limited resolution will not be able to display something this complex, though. Not even something as good-looking as a TikTok

[Q] What's the latest version of Sound Enhancer?

Can anyone tell me what's the latest version of HTC's sound enhancer? I'm trying to get it working on a Samsung Focus S. It's dev unlocked and I'm able to load xaps, but when I open it most of the options are grayed out and I can't save any settings I apply. Thanks.
Hook it up to an external source or earphones, then choose Equalizer, you should now be able to tap on the selection bar and choose which per-set you want; simply exit and it will save. If you unplug your head phones or AUX source it will go back to grey (default).

That sucks, I wonder if it's a dll or driver issue.
I read this just today, looks like it was pulled because it was crashing HD7 phones and it sounds like a new one should be out as soon as HTC can fix it.

Wow this is what I mean when I say that Windows Phone sucks compared to Windows Mobile, the lack of functionality. Look at the picture below remember this? Why can we have something as simple as this on Windows Phone? It sure beats the hell out of me especially whey they forced us to move to WP7 when they pulled the plug on WM and stopped supporting it.

I wonder if someone could possibly port this over or create something close to it, I would donate.

Oh man I would so donate too! You're totally right about keeping it simple. Dammit I wish MS would own up this...or that more people would make a fuss about it. I'm about to pack up shop and go back to my boring iPhone.

I had tried the xaps on my Samsung focus. And results were exactly as you experienced. I also want equalizer and bass boost options on my focus. I am willing to donate $10 for this thing.

I posed this as a separate thread but no one seems to have any intrest. I have Sound Enhancer on my Trophy and it does the job but it lacks the ability to let one ajust their sounds, it just has presets and we should have more opptions. Maybe if someone posts this to a mod or something it would gain intrest, who knows how long it's going to take HTC to fix this.

Thanks for helping bring light to this sinister. I'm sad to report that I'm going back to my 4S for the time being. I've been carrying it around with me since I got the Focus to use as an mp3 player...and as fun as WP7 is to use, multiple devices makes absolutely no sense to me.
My phone is also a Trophy.
No one is mentioning that Sound Enhancer doesn't work with Bluetooth headsets either.
That's because Bluetooth on WP7 is a joke, You can't do anything worth while or useful with it except use your ear piece for phone calls.
