Can anyone tell me what's the latest version of HTC's sound enhancer? I'm trying to get it working on a Samsung Focus S. It's dev unlocked and I'm able to load xaps, but when I open it most of the options are grayed out and I can't save any settings I apply. Thanks.
Hook it up to an external source or earphones, then choose Equalizer, you should now be able to tap on the selection bar and choose which per-set you want; simply exit and it will save. If you unplug your head phones or AUX source it will go back to grey (default).

I tried, but nadda. Multiple headphones and speakers, all the same thing. No change in sound (dolby and srs are the only options). Even if I change something, exit the app and then reopen it, it's back to no effects.

That sucks, I wonder if it's a dll or driver issue.
I read this just today, looks like it was pulled because it was crashing HD7 phones and it sounds like a new one should be out as soon as HTC can fix it.

Wow this is what I mean when I say that Windows Phone sucks compared to Windows Mobile, the lack of functionality. Look at the picture below remember this? Why can we have something as simple as this on Windows Phone? It sure beats the hell out of me especially whey they forced us to move to WP7 when they pulled the plug on WM and stopped supporting it.

Oh man I would so donate too! You're totally right about keeping it simple. Dammit I wish MS would own up this...or that more people would make a fuss about it. I'm about to pack up shop and go back to my boring iPhone.

I had tried the xaps on my Samsung focus. And results were exactly as you experienced. I also want equalizer and bass boost options on my focus. I am willing to donate $10 for this thing.

I posed this as a separate thread but no one seems to have any intrest. I have Sound Enhancer on my Trophy and it does the job but it lacks the ability to let one ajust their sounds, it just has presets and we should have more opptions. Maybe if someone posts this to a mod or something it would gain intrest, who knows how long it's going to take HTC to fix this.

Thanks for helping bring light to this sinister. I'm sad to report that I'm going back to my 4S for the time being. I've been carrying it around with me since I got the Focus to use as an mp3 player...and as fun as WP7 is to use, multiple devices makes absolutely no sense to me.
My phone is also a Trophy.
No one is mentioning that Sound Enhancer doesn't work with Bluetooth headsets either.
That's because Bluetooth on WP7 is a joke, You can't do anything worth while or useful with it except use your ear piece for phone calls.

Features:
- simple/advanced mode
- presets
- settings reapply on boot (no init file hacking, i use a service)
- pages/mb views
come on, check the main thread.
0.8.2b is released
0.9b is out, go get it
Thank you for the app.
I have a few suggestions:
-Presets are applied automatically without having to press apply. This is an inconvenient way to see what the settings are.
-The statistics should be uploaded before app exit when settings are finalized as opposed to each time a setting is applied. (When switching through presets this is a double whammy)
-When the keyboard is flipped on the G1 it resets, settings are applied, and the Start up dialog is displayed.
I have v .09
Keep up the good work!
This software is really a godsend. I've never bothered with most of the "Task Killer" programs for exactly the reason AutoKiller was created: Android already has a way to manage memory.
Never occurred to me that the parameters were adjustable though, so thanks for thinking of it and making a useful utility!
Can we exclude apps from being killed, such as the Alarm Clock, etc? Super important for those of us that want to keep out jobs
Clock shouldn't be killed by this automatic killer.
It should be one of the most important tasks on android.

I would like to know too. It keeps killing the email app. Hence I never got any email notifications after a while
I would imagine that the idea of "excluding" apps fro this doesn't make any sense or is even feasible, since it isn't artificially killing apps, rather it is adjusting when Android kills apps, I guess you could add some sort of "keep in memory" option like most new launcher apps have but I doubt the efficacy of those options nor do I know if they can be set via an outside app or whether that must be coded into the app itself...
If its killing off apps you need and use frequently, it sounds like you should lower your presets a notch or two. ie. Optimal instead of Strict

I'll hedge my bets on the Google engineers..
Thats fine, you do that. Some of us like that we can do as we wish with our phones to make them even faster.
Why would you even bother posting? Maybe iPhone is the device for you if you like things handed to you and you just take it? ;-)
Don't pick on the poor guy. I mean, come on-- he has like one of the only unrooted nexus one's in existence. That obviously makes him special in the shortbus sort of way and you simply cannot make fun of special people.

Yep, some people have real work to do with their phone, not install random things on it.. So far my "need to root" list is pretty short.
Shortbus.. Not even going to bother on that one.
I forgot, you're too busy trolling and making blackmoor uglier. If you don't like the guy's work, then gtfo because apparently several things are shorter than your list of reasons to root like your imagination, charm, and the micro mini between your legs that causes you to tear down legitimate work that apparently you don't understand. Google didn't engineer a one size fits all solution-- they created an ingenious flexible, scalable open source platform that could be modified into a near infinite combination of solutions to fit any need based on the requirements of oem, carrier, and the hardware itself.
Can we get back on the topic?, which is the app. not who like what how.

Bluetooth headphones always have a delay, so I really wouldn't recommend trying to use them with this application.
You're probably right... I guess I'll need to get a splitter, but what splitter is actually needed? Links to the appropriate hardware would be appreciated. I'm guessing a standard plain 3.5mm splitter which goes from one 3.5mm jack to two 3.5mm sockets wouldn't do, since both jacks would still be get the same signal.. right?

Right. Hardware does not support this. This tool isn't meant for real beatmixing. It's a cool gimmick but it works like jack sh*t if you ask me. If someone would be able to find a windows mobile app that works like Hexler's TouchOSC....

lol, warez!! you would could do it with a y splitter, if one track was played though the left headphone and all was player though the other then that would work with a splitter, but you would end up with mono output.

You might want to revisit your comments. This is a "paid for" app available here....http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2010/02...-for-mixing-on-the-go-for-windows-mobile.html
If you point to a link where the app can be downloaded without it being legitimately paid for or where activation or other measures have been illegally removed then you are peddling warez which is against XDA rules and can get you banned.

Hey all i was thinking about modding the retro boot ani and thought i would post here and see if anyone had any suggestions or would be interested in me posting the finished ani. Basically all i am thinking about doing atm is adding some sound. maybe some beeps like and old computer bios posting and then a dial up modem connecting when the ani getts to the 3G connecting part then when the android comes up and android is spelt out have it fade to static and the have it make the "DROID" noise. ait is gonna take a bit of work on my part cause i have no idea how to get the timing right but i am gonna try.
any help or suggestions would be appreciated, and if anyone want to take a shot at this or wants my finished product let me know.

All I can say is good luck lol The sound is a tricky issue as many ROM developers disable the bootup sounds (In case your phone accidentally reboots in a meeting or class lol could cause trouble). If I may make a suggestion though, don't go with the old bios boot animation that's floating around; I already updated it for Android 2.2 and themed it for a few ROMs (as well as making a generic one). Check the link in my sig for the thread to download the updated ones. As I'm typing this, I was thinking, you're probably gonna have your best luck starting simple. I would just try and add a beep to start with towards the beginning. Reason I say this is, before I got started on Android, I was and am a musician and I have a home studio. One of the trickiest things to do is to get audio and video that were recorded/created separately to sync up in post production. It's tricky on a $5000 dual quad-core Mac Pro tower with 12gb of physical RAM, so just imagine that it's gonna be a migraine and a half trying to do it on a phone... I would say, due to the widely varying different kernel and ROM configurations out there, that syncing up any multiple audio/video events that would then work on any phone would be damned near impossible. I'm not saying don't try it, hell I'll help any way I can, but I just want you to be aware of what you're getting in to... If I didn't already say so, AWESOME idea though ^_^ I think I would J.I.M.P. if Gingerbread allowed you to use a short .avi or .mp4 (more likely) video as a boot animation, then it would be easy to do what you're talkin about! We can only hope and dream... Keep me posted bro!
thanks for your response and yes i am aware it will be a head-ache. i once spliced together video i shot of my buddys band on a handycam with audio that was professionally recorded of the show. while it wasn't to bad i did have to deal with syncing chunks at a time cause the guy that edited the audio broke it into diff songs for one and i also had a couple times when the cam shut off. mostly i was just posting to see if after i do all this work on it would anyone else even want it also lol. the one i have now it one of the ones made for the incredible i believe i will have to pull it apart and double check tho.
again thanks for your intrest

EDIT, 04/27/11:
Make sure you download it from the market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.voilaweb.mobile.liveview.livewatches
***
I am going to talk about a plug-in I wrote for the Sony Ericsson LiveView.
However, if you guys wish to discuss development for that device or how to make it work better, this is also welcome because it is both intriguing and under-represented (and a bit maddening at times)
Anyway, I was flabbergasted when I realized that there isn't any straightforward "watch" plug-in for the LiveView so in a couple hours I figured out how to use the SDK and created one.
I am not releasing it yet and I will only make it available it there is interest for it and I get the appropriate permissions from the people whose art I have used for this proof of concept app.
By the way, more face and hands art would be welcome!
A few (terrible) screenshots:
My LiveView was sent from the website i ordered it from, today=) I would really such an addon=)
And i can make you some artwork if i get something to work with=)
Oh, that's good.
I hope it works well for you. The device losing its pairing can be quite aggravating.
On the other hand it is a breeze to develop for; actually simpler than writing a home screen widget.
A friend of mine got it last week and said that he had lost his pairing once since he got it set up.
To me no development is a breeze i know squat about programing
But as said i would love to make you some graphics you could use so that you can release this=)
^^
I just received a sms from my post office that my LiveView had arrived
and here are a little graphic preview of some artwork you might use(?) It shows the whole thing, background, minute hand and hour hand=)
I really think you should release this addon
Ha! I like it a lot, in fact.
Can you post it as three files as described at http://www.voilaweb.com/lv_faq#createtheme?
Oh, and I updated the OP with a link to the beta apk
Will do, Just have to make some minor changes as the big and short hand are the same. and also added some indicators on the clock face.
Edit: Also, will you support this addon? i mean like bugs and stuff?
I guess, I will have to, yes
So, anyone go any feedback for me?
hey man.
i just installed your app from market and it's looking great.
i guess you can make a clock with digits or maybe a digital one.
it still disconnects but at least i have a watch
one other thing maybe you can ad an always on screen option
MrJay, first off, thanks for your feedback
The "always on" option would be nice but I invite you to think about this some more...say until your device dies on you because its damn battery is already too weak for the plug-in's current version
EDIT: OK I really don't want to sound negative. The device is really nice. I just wish it had better connectivity and battery life.
In fact, the tricks I read on how to force it to reconnect using AutomateIt, etc., end up sucking battery life like crazy.
The only thing i have to say about this addon, is that its a bit slow to update when i wake the screen. might take a sec before the clock shows the correct time.
Other than that, i love it
Thanks Marius.
Yes, I know about the 1 sec. delay it's due to sending as few updates to the device as possible, to improve battery life.
But maybe I could slightly alter this behavior for a "wake up" event.
BTW, I hope you guys are using the version from the market! It's free, but more likely to get updates than the one on my blog.

Sound Box
It reacts on a shaking and makes your phone act as a bell, drum, rattle, wind chimes and other such a stuff. It's a toy for fun. Some users noted that children also love it.
So shake your phone, have fun!
The goal
Actually the initial idea came from my friend. She said: it would be cool if you'll shake your phone and it will sound like a junk in a metal box or like a broken device. Totally broken. Later me and my friends came up with an invention to add a bell, maracas and more. When I started, the main goal was to make an app that authentically behave like a rattle, a bell, etc. I tried to get a realistic reaction to the phone shaking. Among other things, different sounds for different strength of shaking - just like real things. Hope I've succeeded.
Variations
There are two versions: lite and full. Lite version contains limited set of sound themes. For now there are small bell, darbuka and "digital" sound (simple sine harmonics). Full one is a set of about 20 sound themes. There are, in addition to lite ones, metal and bamboo wind chimes, maracas, rattlesnake, jingle bells, tin can with junk (yeah that junk from the initial idea) and much more. For now full version is paid.
Requirements
- Android 1.5+.
- No additional permissions required.
Notes
The application locks most of the buttons by default. You could switch it off: see Menu -> Settings for details!

Yeah, why not. Actually there was an idea to make it possible for users to create sound themes by themself and share it with anyone. Right now I finishing my first game. After it possibly I'll made it.
Anyway I'll try to record some nice guitar sound and add it to the existing set.
C'mon guys, just tell what you think! Is it good? Is it bad? Is it boring? Just anything... How do you think, what would be great to add/change here?
Well, ok...
nice app!
the sound theme list is too short in the free app though..
I would suggest you to put a full version and let ppl try it out
Then, you lock the update after you have received all the comments and recommendation

I thought about it. Probably there should be more, but I've not decided yet how much.

Perhaps that's what I will do. By the way, don't you know anything about the model with two identical versions: one for free and another for donations - is it working? I mean, do somebody buying the second one?

Yeah, may be, I'm not sure (that somebody will shake the phone so far as to damage it). Anyways, it's not necessary to shake it too hard. There is a setting of the sensitivity in the application. But maybe you're right. Maybe I'll add a warning to the application's description. Just in case.
Sorry mate with respect have to give this the thumbs down, i was expecting at leaast 10/15 different sounds not just 3,my young son might like it if there were some cartoon noises but only 3 uninstalled..sorry.
