Question about helix launcher on cyan 506 - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Ok so when I originally flashed 506 helix launcher force closed like crazy so I was told on xda that I had to flash .7 helix launcher off a website to stop it from force closing.well I did that and it works fine.heres my question.on the market helix launcher just updated to.7.so can i wipe and re flash 506 and just use the helix launcher on the market? Or is it gonna force close like it did when I first flashed 506?

either restore a previous nandroid or reflash the mod and go here for a working helix launcher 2 for CM 5.0.6:

The current market helix launcher 2 does not work with CM 5.0.6 as far as I know.

Ahh ok. My mistake then.. I guess it was the previous version that was acting silly with 5.0.6... At least with me.

compatible
I'm not having any problems running the most current HelixLauncher2 0.7 on CM 5.0.6. It works wonderfully.

This is awesome... but when I flash it it doesn't work!
lol It like doesn't complete the flash or something.
Also, put up a small donation link if you plan to keep this up for the nightlies. I love having that added touch over stock and I don't mind helping a fellow member out.
Nice... but now build 21 has dropped. I'll keep checking in.

If your just swapping PNG you can make a metamorph theme so you don't have to make it Tom specific. Just an fyi. Great work sir.

It should work for the lastest nightly as well (I didn't see anything changed in the settings app).

Does it give you any errors when flashing? What nightly are you running?

Metamorph I honestly think is more work for those using it. This way you can just let ROM manager do its thing. MM sometimes has to be applied several times to take completely.

Guys, I just realized I completely borked the .apk for CM before uploading. This will work with all CM7 nightlies from #14-21 for sure, but didn't test with anything earlier ones (why would you be using one more than a week old?).
Uploading now!
You are the man, this is exactly what I wanted!!
I wonder if this is something that could be merged with CM completely??
Lovely, but I want that font too!

Honestly... I Ran CM on my G1 for a year and a half. One thing they don't do too much of is incorporating themes. They do add some options like the UI settings we all know and love. Like the custom status bar, etc. But otherwise their look has always been pretty stock..
Regardless, I plan on keeping it updated as long as people use it.. so if it stops working, let me know.

Hey guys,
As the nightlies roll out, please let me know if this is still working or not! I want to make sure I update the OP and keep it so everyone running CM7 can use this.

Any chance you could port this over to cm6.1 stable?

I'm glad to hear this worked in 23. I haven't updated my CM7 nightly so I'm still on build 20. I haven't heard about anything being added that is worth upgrading.
Also, if there's one for CM6 stable I could flash that for my GF

Unable to buy apps in the ICS Market

I seem to be one of the unlucky few that are unable to purchase apps in the Market on ICS. I get the ever helpful "An error has occurred" message when I try.
Here is an interesting twist, though: I also am unable to buy apps in the default ICS browser. I have to download Dolphin Browser if I want to be able to buy apps on the go.
This makes me wonder if there is something in the browser that the Market app used that is preventing me from buying apps. Any one else having this particular problem?
My carrier is Wind Mobile in Canada.

Can't help - sorry. I'm on Kwiboo's V3 if that helps at all.....
Which ICS you running?
I had the same problem with Drew Garens ICS stable v1. Restored back to beta v2 and all was fine. I've since switched to Eugene's ICS #3 and market works there to. I read somewhere of a person having the same issue with CM9 alpha12, but CM9 alpha 11 was fine. Since Drew Garen's is a kang of CM9 perhaps it inherited the issue.

Another factor just occured to me. I didn't enter a credit card on market setup, instead i charge to my T-mobile account. I wonder if those not having purchasing issues entered a card.

Since Eugene's ICS #3 and Drew Garen's ICS beta2 both work for me on market, I wonder if they are both based on CM9 alpha 11. Can anyone confirm what vesions they are kangs of? I looked at their thread and can't seem to find mention of it.
Are you only having problem BUYING the apps? Because I can't buy them or download free ones, I'm running CM9 and I'm a complete noob to rooting, etc so I don't know if it's Alpha 11 or Alpha 13, I do know that my WiFi doesn't work and it's the one by Koush.
It worked to download 1 single app but after that, nothing.
I have no problem downloading free apps or updating existing apps... Only buying apps for some reason.

Appdrawer lag :(

My phone is working very fast and stable. Everything is ok. Menu transitions, game loading screens, homescreen transitions... But only my appdrawer laggy when opening and closing animations.
I am using go launcher with cm7.2+. I tried other roms and launcher but appdrawer every time laggy.
I am waiting your suggestions

Are your clocks okay?
Are you running some special governor?
It might be something you made.
Or this phone has endless problems.
It has cm7.2+ kernel and rom users like this kernel. And if flashed original v21e it was ok but after 3-4 days problem has occured

I used LauncherPro in the rom since I found Go Launcher laggy (and a huge resource hog). Glad you found that out too
@pandaball i installed your rom. Rom is very fast. But ONLY appdrawer opening closing animations very laggy on go launcher, launcher pro (standart rom launcher) and adw launcher

Mine is smooth, even with a ton of apps installed. Methinks you have more apps than me try wiping cache and dalvik cache, that helps sometimes by clearing up redundant entries
I did wipes. Everything is ok now. But i'm sure restart this problem after few days. Thanks for support pandaball

Not sure if this is out there yet but I found a modified version of the cm9 music player Apollo. No other music player tops this one and I was very upset when I installed on aokp 4.1 and no-go. Original Apollo apk is not compatible with jb. Force closes. So here is the Apollo modified for Android version 4.1 jelly bean. Tested it. Works good. There are some themes on the play store for it too. Original thread was found on droidforums.net.

I'm confused. Apollo is standard app included in CM builds (including CM10) and AFAIK it has been since it came out on CM9 a few months ago. Where did you get the version that was FCing on you?
Downloaded on file crop couldn't get it in play store. Its not standard in aokp tho so this will b useful for those members running that and want Apollo without extracting from cm10
I just did a titanium backup of Apollo apk from cm10 nightly rom so I could use it on stock jellybean, works fine for me.
Could I get the link?

Should I be updating my launcher?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm new here. I'm running Mimicry on my Desire Z and it uses Aroma to install Nova Launcher (as chosen) onto my phone. However, the version is 1.2.2 and 1.3.1 is out. Should I update my launcher myself? Does it matter?
Backup the copy you have with titanium backup and then upgrade. Every now and them upgrade will break stuff, hence the backup, but in general there is no reason not to upgrade your launcher. Feel free to try other launchers as well, many great options in Android
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
a backup can be useful if the most recent update is having some bugs on your device.
Sent from my GT-S5300 using xda app-developers app
Not only backup the current launcher using TB, but be sure to backup the settings of Nova in (of course) Nova settings. It saves the layout of your widgets and icons.
as the nova 1.3 is build on the sources of the current JellyBean Launcher which includes the Project Butter for more smothness i would recommend the update!
