Problem with HTC Desire - General Questions and Answers

I've got a problem with my HTC Desire. Sometimes when I activate the "Use wireless networks" in the Location-settings, it asks if I want to allow Google's location service collect data. When I press either Agree or Disagree, I get the following message; "Sorry! The process system has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." and I have to press Force close. When I do, it just keeps on repeating itself until I restart the phone.
Anyone encountered the same problem? Kinda annoying if I have to use the GPS or something..

Disable "Cannot connect" balloon

Hi, recently (and despite several different roms and hard resets) my Diamond pops up a balloon saying "Cannot connect for an unknown reason" whenever it fails to make a data connection. Often this happens while in TomTom and you have to click dismiss for navigation to resume.
How can I stop this? Ive tried the notifications in settings. Its not one of them. I dont mind stopping all balloons if necessary. It just serves no purpose.
Thanks

Boot Loop on Desire Z after Updating apps via Market

Hi all,
Just ran a market update on my Desire Z with Virtuous 1.02 this morning, whaddayaknow, phone froze and rebooted when installing some of the apps (couldn't tell you which). "That's odd" I thought, restarted, re-enabled wifi (thankfully I have to give the credential storage password after each boot, so it won't connect automatically), and bang! the update helpfully automatically resumes and same thing. I can't tell which apps are downloading at the time as I haven't managed to get the notification drawer to come down before the phone becomes unresponsive. Currently living with wifi turned off so the updates don't start but this is something of a hack, you must agree. Any ideas?
I was thinking the obvious workaround would be to cancel the upgrades, but because wifi and mobile data are off I can't open the market app (Connectivity Error!). Anyone have any clues as to how to go about it? Or even anyone affected by the same problem?
Thanks,
Jarrad
/bump.
Also now I'm getting "System UIDs inconsistent" errors on boot and a uiderrors.txt with every single installed app (incl. factory/system apps) being listed as having a mismatched uid. Ideas?

[Q] Inspire root error?

Ever since i rooted my Inspire 4G, i seem to be getting 2 error messages on screen, one semi-often although nothng actually fails, and the other when i try to add contacts.
The Semi-Often error is "the application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again."
now once again, nothing ever goes "wrong", just more of an annoyance.
the other error for the contacts is "The Application People (process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again."
this error is only trying to add a new contact.
anyone encounter this or know how to fix it?

I've had the first one maybe once or twice, though I don't know what causes it, or how to fix it.
It's happened so infrequently that it hasn't bothered me enough to seek a solution to it.
I just write it off as a phone quirk, not necessarily caused by rooting, though I could be wrong.

[Q] HELP! Constant message prevents operation

I am having a constant window that says "weather has stopped" The message comes so frequently and quickly that I am unable to do anything literally. I'm told it's a cache issue and I need to stop the app. I can't find the app listed in Running Apps, and if I could I couldn't do anything about it. How can I stop the app or cure my problem. My phone is totally useless it is a working bricked phone. All help and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Didn't you already asked this in another thread? Maybe you need to do a factory reset.

AT&T Address Book error making phone unusable

Hi y'all, hope someone can help me with this since I can't seem to find anything on Google about the issue I'm having...
I got adventurous rooting my phone (running Lollipop 5.0) a while back to disable/ delete some carrier bloatware. All was great until the other day when I used Titanium to delete the AT&T Address Book. I immediately got a popup error "Unfortunately, AT&T Address Book has stopped." When I click OK it just keeps perpetually popping up like a zombie. While the phone technically works, it's effectively unusable with that constant popup message.
I tried restoring the system app + data Titanium backup but no dice. Also factory reset the phone with the hope of being able to then flash the stock ROM back to it but not only does the popup STILL happen, but during the welcome setup process I can't get past the screen lock setup part without the Google setup service (or whatever it's called) ALSO giving the "has stopped" error and crashing :crying: What have I done???
If you haven't solved you problem yet the way to stop the AT&T Address Book from nagging you is:
Open the dialer
Enter *#*#2666#*#*
Click "Registration" and set it to "Completed"
IDK know about Google Setup error, but I'd try clearing that app's cache as a possible fix.

Hi, thanks for reply. Unfortunately I cannot do either of those things because the phone will not let me bypass the new user setup process --- and I can't finish it without it crashing midway through. The only thing that can be done with the phone without completing the new user setup is make Emergency calls only. I'm hoping there's a way to connect it to the computer and do some kind of recovery boot to flash the stock ROM back to it so that I can reset it without the Address Book error constantly popping up.
