I have had a search but can't find anything. Can the cicle be used to zoom as it is in the version of Opera that comes as standard? I like the look and feel of Opera Mobile, but can't use it without the circle zoom.
Yes, it can. Which version of Opera are you using, and on what ROM?
Opera is Mobile Beta 9.7 Build 35166
ROM is stock with the recent HTC update
Thanks
Opera 9.7 has not been adapted to the Raphael yet, and as such isn't able to zoom using the wheel. I'd recommend using a recent Opera 9.5 build such as 16983.
i wouldnt downgrade so quick. you can add the zoom wheel to by adding a registry key to htcs smart touch (thats what its called iirc, you can add zoom/scroll wheel settings to anything with some registry settings). there is a guide in the diamond forums. i followed it exactly and you loose dpad functionality but i question some of the steps and that may be avoidable. just do some searching, if i find the thread again ill share. but it is possible.
i also got rotation on opera 9.7 which was pretty easy with gconfig and htcs gsensor from the topaz. what i would really love is how to get rid of the automatic keyboard popup that 16983 has. theres gotta be a way. im not downgrading to get that though, id rather the speed of 9.7 than such a small annoyance taken care of.
Does anybody know how to enable the multitouch and backbutton functionality in the new Opera Mobile 10 Beta?
I installed it but lost that functionality and that degrades alot of the browsing experience...
cheers
I do with this --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584940

Use registry editor to add in HKLM\Software\HTC\TouchGL\Pinch\WhiteList Key Opera10
in HKLM\Software\HTC\TouchGL\Pinch\WhiteList\Opera10 add REG_SZ, Name: ProcName Value Opera10-armv4i.exe.
soft reset.
Yes, but it's not true multitouch!
I don't think that there is any known method for enabling true multitouch on opera10
The "pinch to zoom" functionality in Opera 9.7 is actually part of the application, rather than a setting that can be controlled externally. It simply does not exist in v10 (I imagine), and therefore can't be switched on. Using the system style zooming is the only option for this.
Besides, as it was pointed out to me previously, Opera 10 doesn't actually have a smooth zoom. It's just zoomed or not zoomed.
Opera 10 are unstable on mi hd2, it freeze often and i need to restart. Someone now why?

Probably because it's a Beta. I've not heard of this problem before though. It looks really nice. I can't wait till they do a proper release of it.
I fully expect Opera to release a new version in the near future with full pinch zoom supported and the advantages V10 offers. Until then I will just continue to use the supplied version, despite the experience being considerably less satisfying and user-friendly than Safari on even my old 2.5 year old iPhone 2G.
Zoomer
Try zoomer for pitch zoom in all applications..
In order to get pinch to zoom to function in Opera 10, use the app of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589305
Works fine for me! Probably it will also be possible to get Opera to rotate to landscape with this app.
Update: rotation works fine, pinch%zoom works though a bit buggy.
Update 2: using P to Z gives you an extra "window" in thelower middle of the screen that only disappears when you reach normal zooming levels again. A bit annoying!
That's no pinch to zoom, that's blowing up a screen image without rescaling. But anyway, beta 2 is out and nothing is improved in this respect.
How about what they did with Igo8?
Igo8 doesn't come with pinch to zoom but someone has managed to get true pinch to zoom to work in it using a 3rd party .exe app.
is it possible to do the same thing with opera 10?
Opera 10 has multiple zoom levels, in the settings you can choose from 100 to 300%, thats not the problem. The problem is a) that theres no zoom slider in the ui that allows to zoom instantly and b) opera 10 does not regocnize multitouch gestures. I don't know about windows mobile, but I'm pretty sure that that would work on wm: With windows you can send commands to any windows such as scrool down, zoom etc. If the programmer did his job well, the application then does something with that commands. If that is possible with wm, I'm sure that opera did implement it. So the only thing that is required is to writte an app that a) detect that opera is active and that a multitouch gesture has been done and b) send the equivalent zoom command to opera. This is the same way HTC has implemented the zoom slider on the diamond2 and pro2. If somebody would try it, it isn't that hard, I'll do it if i have more time
Not only opera 10 on WM doesnt have any real pinch to zoom option it also doesnt have that option on Opera mini on iphone either! and i have no idea why is that? but my question is! is it possible that someone use some 9.7 version files on 10? to make it work??

Because you still don't understand how Opera Mini works.
Plugin
Opera 10 has Plugin Support on Windows Mobile Phones. So the only way to get that original zoom feeling back is writing a plugin that remodifies Opera.
I still don't understand why they removed that zooming feature from the new Browser version.
Ok, it has that special Textbox scaling which fits a text right into the screen width with a simple double click, but sometimes, this doesnt work properly and multitouch zooming would be a solution.
I hope for a relaunch in the next Opera version.
Hey guys, I love Opera 10, espacailly with flash support, but with not multi touch it really does hold it back.
For instance, you try to watch a youtube video, you have to tap to zoom in, which will take you way to close, then you have to try to center the video on the screen that is way to zoomed in.
After using Opera 10 with the visual tabs and everything, its really hard to go back to 9. Is there any way to add multitouch to opera 10 without Zoomer?
Opera Mobile 10 has only one level of zoom, so the multitouch is not very usefull ...

Any way to get around that?
Nope. Opera apparently decided we didn't need more and are holding their position.
What about Skyfire or other browsers?
HD2 multitouch and opera 10
After a first experience with the original rom ( I did not note wich opera version was installed ) I had the very impressive experience of the multitouch and " two fingers Zoom " ; now , after a Rom update , I get a lot of interesting improvement but the only negative point is that the Opera 10 installed do not let me perform such type of zoom ; I tried with zoomer , but it is not absolutely the same.
Could I install another version of OPERA ( pls indicate wich one ) and , if it is possible , could this be a problem/conflict with the opera 10 installed ? Can I un-install the opera 10 without loosing the rest of the positive improvements of the new Rom
Thanks for your very appreciated answers

You're not going to get pinch-to-zoom in Opera 10, as people above have already said. However, I know you were only giving an example, but with YouTube videos you can click the fullscreen icon (in the bottom right of the video player) and then you don't need zoom.
You can enable pinch to zoom on pretty much any app, including Opera 10 using the BsB Tweaks. I use it and it works pretty darn good

It may not be similar, but at least you can pinch your fingers together to zoom in and out and beats the zoomer tab IMO.
wich is the best solution ?
could you tell me if somebody experience the re-installation of OPERA 9.7 on these ROMs ??
do you see any conflict risks or other issues ?
could you post the link to the B&B application ?
thanks again !!!

Is it just me or is it pinch to zoom pretty crappy. First, when you zoom, the image is very blurry, especially the text. Second, once you zoom in, you can't move unless you're using that zoom nav pop-up. Do you have the same experience?
If that's the case, it's not worth enabling at all.
Also, how are you guys able to get flash on Opera 10? I go to YouTube and can't watch any videos.
You have to go to settings>advanced>turn plug-ins on

Hi guys. I want to switch to Opera 10 but i have problem with initial Opera 10 settings to show hole page. In Opera 9.7 by default Virtual Screen Width was 800 and with this setting i was able to read pages in landscape mode without zooming (whit my eagle eye sight
But Opera 10 by default shows hole page (either in landscape or portrait) and it's to small to read..
In other words i want to make opposite of what is talked about in this tread. But i cannot find corresponding registry entries for opera 10?
Help appreciated

Try opera:config and uncheck "Limit Paragraph width" (do not remember exactly the key) In landscape it helps

only works in portrait mode for now. it seems in landscape the zoom option doesnt work..... bug?
is it because im using bsb to rotate?
hope one of us solves it or its back to the old version. shame
the usual opera:config doesnt display the usual zoom options. i think contact opera maybe .... likely bug but im sure someone here will fix it b4 them ... lol
also have you found a sutiable flash plugin?
cheers
Recently i installed on my hd2 opera mobile v10.
It's absolutely amazing and fantasting. Incredibly smooth scrolling, fast and generally everything is fine.
But there is one thing missing from opera 10 that 9 had.
NO multitouch support. On default opera 9 you can zoom a page with 2 fingers, something that doesnt exist at opera 10. My guess is that HTC put a hand for that to happen at opera 9.
Is there a way to have multitouch at opera mobile 10 or i am missing something?
EDIT:
Woops! i posted this thread at the wrong section. Sorry for that.
u can try the bsb tweak.. it can make an apps to be able to pinch to zoom.. GL!!
Shame isn't it - Opera 10 is better on every other front than version 9, but unfortunately there's no way of getting it to pinch to zoom (properly). The BSB tweaks way just lets you magnify an area of the screen, rather than a proper pinch to zoom that lets opera know to zoom the web page to the pinched area.
I don't miss it too much - often it feels faster to just tap to zoom, and double tap to zoom out again - but for clicking the occasional small link (e.g. the page number links for a forum) it would be nice.
I hope someone finds a solutuion. it`ll be nice...

This has been requested before, but it never happened, I think Opera has to rewrite V10 for it. But 9.7 is a good alternative to me at least... You can tweak 9.7 with smoother zooming, better graphics and stuff. Search the forum if you want. BSB tweaks has some stuff built in as well.
