what is supposed to be in page 55 of which manual peter?
The user manual, can be found at HTC's website under "support".
It should be a setting you can turn on and off, and turning the device over silences calls.

I heard if you put it face down it would silence the phone. I don't have one, but that was what i read somewhere.
That`s the text:
"You can also place your phone face down on a table to mute the ring without

it's not in page 55 in all manuals
in any case the text only mentions what the device SHOULD do, not if you can turn this function on and off
so no, you are wrong

I think you need to make a change to the registry (see point 4 on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265)
If your next question is now do you edit the registry you need to download something like PHM RegEdit.

You know it only works if the phone is face up when the call comes in? Then you turn it over and it stops ringing. If the phone is face down already then it doesn't work.

Last week , I installed - reinstalled - uninstalled ROM ( WWE3.03 and 3.04 ) about 5-6 times, and I has experienced other problems in the following list.
1. Sometimes , Someone call me and thay said the signal cut automatically.
I felt this was unusual , so I started to examine .I told my friend to call to my phone number , they said the signal cut after call out to my number. while my phone show up Light , like it is going to show "In Coming Call" , but no ringtone , no in coming call shown up...
2. I usually set to loudest sound . But with WWE3.04 , I need to turn of sound and Turn it on again to get loudest ringtone , everytime after restart ( soft-reset ) the phone.
3.Contacts list didn't show up until I touch some alphabet order to search.

Mine is freezing sometimes when I receive a call and also the phone restarted sometimes when I'am browsing some files....
No unlock keys in rom 3.04
The only working key is the power on/off key.. You can not turn on the screen after the phone is turned off by pressing any key other than the power on/off key.. And the icon in setting " unlock keys " is no longer present in rom wwe 3.04...
yes, Generation 9 doesn't support NoKeyLock, I hope G9.5 will support it...
I think the use "unlock keys" will automatically call so few people prefer to use . you should press power after the call ifwant.
I never use lock keypad when my pda's screen is off

Hi, I had the same problem but this happens mainly because of the SD problem for 04 roms. Please see if you have ringtones, pictures or UI like pointui or SPB installed in SD memory. You have to install all these in main memory and Point 1 is solved. Not sure about the point 2 and 3.
I am new on android and i am quite liking my Moto Fire XT :victory:, but here are a few questions that I have.
Q1 :
Can I change the notification sound to a custom tune of my liking ? For any application ( Messaging , Watsapp , facebook, gochat) whenever i goto their notifications , i get the same set of stock options.. I have a file thats 3 seconds long , how to i set that??? does it have to be in a certain format to be set as notification tone?
Q2:
Most people say it doesnt happen , but my power/unlock button is getting harder to reach by the day. i guess unlocking it 50 times will make it go in. Is there a way I can bring up the unlock screen using the volume rocker/camera buttons??
Q3:
I like the idea of swiping to unlock , but everytime i do it , it vibrates. any way to remove that?? I have disabled vibration from setting--->sound---->vibrate----> never
Q4:
Ok here is probably the most stupid question.. but is it possible to have a different text input method?? having human sized fingers, the qwerty is too small , not a very big fan of swype , and the moto keypad is crapp..
I was using the Nokia X6 for 2 years before this and was very happy with the messaging , just like that on a phone with buttons , full numeric keypad with T9 dictionary made it a charm to type on.. any chance of having it here??

Q3. look for haptic feedback somewhere inside settings and turn it off

Haptic feedback is for the capacitive touch buttons I believe , its disabled already , but whenever i swipe it still vibrates.
As for the T9 , i was asking i a more proper layout would be somehow possible.. the "moto input" as its called , is very clustered... i used a banking app the other day. and the keypad they provided to type so just perfect and minimalistic

well, then you can search for "keyboard" on play store, most of them aren't free though
Would any custom rom be having such a thing ??? Is there a section here where i could request a rom or something like that perhaps??

In E71 there if I press right menu button, i can silence all calls (which stops vibration + ringtone in between). How do I do it for Atrix 2? This is not for all callers, I should be able to decide whose call I want to silent at that particular moment.
I dont want temporary/workarounds like keep it in silent mode/press volume button all the way downwards, etc. Thanks.
Press power button. Silences the call and locks the screen with out hanging up.

Just Press the volume up button once when you are getting a incoming call it will silence the ringer.

Perform a factory restore it will resolve your issue. Go to settings/privacy/factory data reset.

I am thinking of simple things first, make sure that you are not on maximum battery saver mode. Go to settings --> battery and data manager --> battery mode --> select the performance mode..
See if this solves the problem.. if it doesnt then let me know if you have installed any battery miser kind of apps.

1) I downloaded the facebook app. But it never logs in. It keeps on saying "loading". Similarly, when I try to sync social networking app/widget, youtube doesnt sync. It says "youtube sync failure". Why is that?
2) I recieve an SMS containing a mobile number. In E71, I could select the number and save it to a contact. This is not possible in Atrix 2. When I recieve an SMS containing a mobile number, there is no option to save it. This is the basic requirement of an SMS. Any ideas?

1) Its not the problem with the mobile, its the the issue with facebook ap.. and facebook android app is quite infamous, try something like friendcaster
2) long press on the mobile number in the message it will give you an option to create a contact

Pattern lock?
Is there a pattern lock feature for A2 like in case of galaxy s2 and iphone? If yes, how to enable it? All I have is number/passcode lock feature. In IPhone, the passcode is 4 digits and after that we dont have to press enter key, but in A2, i have to enter passcode and then press enter key (which is too much of extra pain).
Settings --> location & security --> setup lock screen --> pattern
Just dig into settings you will find everything you want.

Pattern option is "disabled by device administrator".
I see what is happening here. Since I had setup my phone to use my office email, i have having such problems like screen automatically shutting down and inability to use pattern lock !!
Thats my best guess.

yes, that is because you are now forced into a corporate security policy. No way around that unless you stop using your office exchange account on your device. an easier way is to forward your mail to gmail, and setup a way to do this over https. This is all on the gmail site, so don't ask how to do it in here.

This should have been the first thing that you posted, little info like this my friend is vital..
Android gives you freedom, use it and start exploring.. it doesnt mean that people here dont like noobs, everybody here started pretty much as noobs, i still consider myself a noob. But what everybody expects here is, do your bit before asking questions.. explore the your mobile, search the web, even then if you cant figure it out, then search the forums even if you cant find it then post your query.

So I installed a new sandisk 16gb card microSD card yesterday (after formatting it first in PC, then in phone) and put some songs in it. More problems started:
1) Randomly, the phone says "no sim card". I have to restart the phone to get my sim card working. This is frustrating.
2) When I woek up in morning, the phone was dead. Something drained the battery to 0%. Why?
3) The notification was automatically set to some random song. Why?
Have you tried taking out the memory card.. see if it solves your problem.. though few things are strange in your case, but take out your new memory card out.. and pls dont ask why because there are already ample threads on "class 10 memory cards not working with A2"

Hi, i just started using whatsapp plus again after a couple of months and now everytime one of my contacts comes online, im getting a notification sound and a popup window, is annoying since when 3 or 4 contacts get online at the same time, obviously i get that damn sound everytime.
Is there an option im missing? just cant find it anywhere, or is it an implementation on the original Whatsapp app?

How to disbale online notification tone ...
1.. Open whatsapp plus and goto "plus" option.
2.. Now in "plus" option go into "2 Main/Chats Screen" option.
3.. Now in "2Main/Chats Screen" option" Goto "2.5 Contact Online Toast" option..
4.. Now goto "2.5.IT Play Tone Also" option
5.. Now select "None" As Notification tone
6.. You Are done ..!! Enjoy
