Quick request. Coding - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys. I found this on youtube. They are supposed to be animated wallpapers. But they are just widgets that you can place on your screen basically.
If you take the file and change the .wgt to .zip you can unzip then and veiw the files. The index file I belive has some code in it to make the .gif file play when you open the widget.
I tried to do this myself to no avail. Would someone be able to change the code to make it do the exact same thing its doing now but using a .swf or other small video file?
Im trying to make my own and I have a .gif that I compressed as much as possible and its still huge. I converted it to a .swf and its super small now.
Im using these on a Omnia also. I dont know what file types it would handle.
Thanks for any help or suggestions you may have.

Skinning

I've seen some really nice skins for various software on my Kaiser but I want to know how I can create them myself. Is there special software that's needed or is it as simple as just changing the color of an image? Also, how do I create them from scratch and get them to work correctly? Once a skin is done, how do I turn it into a .cab file? Any help would be really appreciated.
btw.......I have Photoshop CS3 Extended if that helps any.
Well, depends what kind of skin...
I did a very simple one for wisbar here:
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12617
See the files to understand how to change them.
Eh, I'm no professional photoshopper. All I did was open up the images that came with TouchFlo 2D and use Ctrl + U to do a Hue/Saturation change. If you know how to create Batches in Photoshop it saves A LOT of time because you can basically edit one image and have Photoshop make that change to however many other images you want.
Can anyone help me with a skin for this one:

I'd be extremely greatful.
Ok I have WinCE CAB Manager 3.0.0.22 and 2 themes (here and here) that are mainly just the image files. How do I turn the themes in to .cab files that automatically store the files in the correct location on someone's ppc?

Icons, changing, developing

Hello guys,
i have few question i have find out how to change a icon using exe files in shortcuts. But is little bit consuming a storage, for example if you would like to use opera.exe (6MB) like an icon for opera mini running through the shortcut from esmertec jbed. It is a time saving solution for me for now, but is there a chance to use ico or png files? Or do i have to make my own dll library files? Because it seems like Windows mobile, by itself, cannot work with ico and png files at all. So what i want to know is:
1) Which software is good for making icons dll library files for WM6.1 (free one could be great)?
2) Does WM6.1 work with both ICO and PNG files?
So if i will find out these two things i will start developing icons for most used apps and i will share it here. Have tons of icons but i have not found the way how to sucesfuly build working dll library file...
You could try using an existing DLL resource file and use Reshack to replace the icons with yours. probably not the most elegant solution, but the price is right.

HD Wallpaper - possible to set as lock screen image?

Hi,
I currently have a HDWallpaper on my HTC; is it possible to use the same HDWallpaper as my lock screen image? I would also like the HDwallpaper to be set in the background when view the phone files (when clicking on the windows or 'Start button)
Can anyone advise?
Thanks.
Save the image you used for your HDWall on your phone (just the image not as a .cab) then under personalize in settings set that image as lockscreen wallpaper.
I think.

Is it just a case of renaming the file to a .jpg when I download it onto the HTC Sniper? within the .cab file itself I cannot see an actual image file.
Cheers.
I'm guessing it's an HD-Wall you got off here rather than one you made yourself then?
In that case you'll need to use something like m9editor to convert it back from the qtc file in the cab file.
If you want to post the cab on here I should be able to do it for you if you want? Bit new to all this myself.

Here you go mate, there were actually 3 images in your .cab, think maybe it had landscape options too? I've converted the 3 to .png's just as they came and also cropped and converted to .jpeg's. I think the one I've named "1" is what you want, but put them all in just in case, like I say, I'm a bit new to all this.
Put them all in a zip file as I think you lose some image quality if you post them as attachments. Let me know if it works?
Cheers.

Sorted mate...fantastic! Thats been doing my head in for ages.
Cheers!
Do you have a guide on how you did that?

I'm willing to give some cash (donate) for a help.

Since I found the HTC Leo's Sense quite difficult to edit the bloody Manila files (in OMNIA was... totally simple project), I'm willing to give (via PayPal donate) some cash, to someone who can create what I need...
He (they") will give me the exact dimensions of the files and I PERSONALLY will create my own graphics and I'll give him (them?) the files and he (they?) will create me what I want...
I want:
1. Co0kie (my personal) clocks (flip/analog)...
2. Slider (my personal) icons...
...and a couple things more; I'll have to check.
Anyone interesting?
Try CHTtweaks. You can change many of the items of co0kie home tab including flip & analog clock, softbar, lockscreen & SMS & email widget using simple png files; also you can get lot of transparency and easily chage text fonts. All with a simple file explorer, forget about manila files.
Regarding the slidertab is a bit more complicated, but if you upload here your png files for sure some other user will kindly help you. To start with you should install in your PC m9editor and / or CFC_GUI; also Resco Explorer or Total Commander in your device; then do a search in your device's windows folder for *_manila; then copy all the founded files to your SD and from there to your PC.
In post #8 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696214 I did update a zip with all the files included in the slider-tab. Unzip in a separate folder in your PC. The files have the manila names, but png format. You can edit each one with PS, just keep the names and the sizes. It will be easy to convert them back to manila format before put them in your device.
Do it slowly, and ask here what you need. And do not forget to enjoy!
poy any reason why you would copy manila files to sd card first then pc?
i would just open windows folder on pc then copy straight to the pc.
You are right, probably my PC is very slow so i transfer the files using the card reader and i also like to have a backup copy of manila in SD. Of course is not essential .... the most important is to put all manila files in PC -no matter how- and do the edition there.
lol your pc is slow?
I may have you beat. it takes my pc about an hour and a half to copy all manila files.
frustrating but still hella fun though.
@ OP upload your files.
my sig : windroid have everything u want =] If u need edit anything .PM me.
or U could use Poys CHT Tweak. its easy to use

Thxs all of you, for the interest.
But... I don't know the BLOODY DIMENSIONS of these graph files!
I'm pro designer and if you may check bellow the link, I made a "total-theme" for OMNIA - took some serious time, but was easy, after all.
In OMNIA's "Manila", the project was so "crystal"; just copied EVERY graph file from Windows folder (mobile) in my PC, edited them, re-copied back to mobile... Or even better (with M2DC), I was extracting the ENTIRE theme somewhere in my mobile, copied the theme in the PC, opened via WinRar, editing the files, re-placing back in the "rar" theme file... and back to mobile!
SIMPLE!
In Leo's Sense Manila, it's NOT THAT simple!
Anyways... Is it possible, someone, to give me the BASIC files for these graphics (for example, Sliders icon mask and icon itself, Slider tab's icons, Co0kie clocks seperated graphs, etc.), to edit them (make my own graps) and help me out?
HERE IS my first personal Co0kie wallpaper (wide) I made; maybe I'll make others too, but I like that (see bellow)...
So... I wonna make some serious modifications, with the... obvious theme!
hey op, if no ones done it before I put my pc on later I'll help you out with slider icon sizes and convert your finished png images to manila, I did a pretty cool effort for my phone......
whats up don?
why dont you give him the manila files names for the slider files if you have them on hand.
@ OP here is a useful link to get your manila files off your device and convert em on your PC to png using CFCGUI. CFCGUI is needed.

Need dev bootanimation advice

Hi
I got a bootanimation.zip from SGS i9000 consists of JPG files, not PNG files, and it works great on our phone, taking significant less space.
The problem I'm having, & i had it with PNG as well, is that eventhough i created new images with the same resolution, dpi and color depth, i get blank screen running them. I used paintbrush & irfanview for the changes.
Anyone knows what could i possibly missed? How can i fix it ?
Thanks!!!
Sent from me
Read this, it should help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096068
Just send the files to me, I'll fix it. It has to be packed properly.
Did you compress your zip file? Your not supposed to.
Does your script match the file format and number of folders?
Got it !!!
It was the compression method - had to be STORE...
Thank you guys.
