HD Wallpaper - possible to set as lock screen image? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi,
I currently have a HDWallpaper on my HTC; is it possible to use the same HDWallpaper as my lock screen image? I would also like the HDwallpaper to be set in the background when view the phone files (when clicking on the windows or 'Start button)
Can anyone advise?
Thanks.

Save the image you used for your HDWall on your phone (just the image not as a .cab) then under personalize in settings set that image as lockscreen wallpaper.
I think.

Is it just a case of renaming the file to a .jpg when I download it onto the HTC Sniper? within the .cab file itself I cannot see an actual image file.
Cheers.

I'm guessing it's an HD-Wall you got off here rather than one you made yourself then?
In that case you'll need to use something like m9editor to convert it back from the qtc file in the cab file.
If you want to post the cab on here I should be able to do it for you if you want? Bit new to all this myself.

Here you go mate, there were actually 3 images in your .cab, think maybe it had landscape options too? I've converted the 3 to .png's just as they came and also cropped and converted to .jpeg's. I think the one I've named "1" is what you want, but put them all in just in case, like I say, I'm a bit new to all this.
Put them all in a zip file as I think you lose some image quality if you post them as attachments. Let me know if it works?
Cheers.

Modified wm6.5 screenlock, much easier to use

the new screenlock for wm6.5 looks much better than the one for wm6.1. and i know that microsoft never meant to imitate iphone. however, the new screenlock is not so easy to use with the slide block sooooo-up-there...
fortunately, i found CHomeVisualEditor.exe, which help me to modify the original screenlock to a much-easier-to-use mode. download the txt file and then rename the file name (just delete ".txt", cause the actual file type is ".cpr"), copy it to "/windows" to cover the original one. the effect pic is shown in the attachment 2.
please be advised if the files don't work, copy them to "/windows/lockscreen" to cover the original ones. then reboot your phone. they shall be working by then.
p.s. i put "silde to unlock" outside the screen (top margin: 640) so you will not see that one the screen. i guess no one need that shown on the screen right...?
note: i updated my rom recently, and found the position of time moved much lower than that of the former one. if the position of time doesn't meet your need, try to open the file as a text format, search for "Layer ID="TimeAppointment" Top". the last number shows the position the time should be present. for your reference, use "-30" for 640x480 and "0" for 480x640.
no one replied. no one need this?
tbh u should have posted this in the Software section...
Looks awesome. Thanx

[Q] Is a theme or hack that can remove the Titanium Slider bar?

i'm wondering if there is a way to do away with the slider bar in the default wm6.5 home screen. in the pic below (i'm a new user so just copy/paste without spaces, lol.) i just slid the bar all the way to the top to take a screenshot, and i wanna know if i can just remove it for a simple clean homescreen.
i53. tinypic. com/2zeypuh .jpg
Why not switch to "classic today" screen, then check out the themes forum for themes you can apply or search for specific plugins? Is it just that you want the titanium function but not the outline around the selected panels? I'm not sure how to do that, but it should be possible by editing the xml file.
well, when i switch to the classic today screen, or just uncheck Windows Default, under Items, i lose the transparency of the toolbar and taskbar. i guess that if i cold just get rid of the big dark bar in the middle of my screen i would be satisfied. i would just like to be able to see my wallpapers. and yes, i want the titanium function but not the outline around the selected panels.
Ok, gotcha. I don't know off-hand how to do that, though It probably would be as simple as editing the file, or finding the .png that is of that image (in the windows directory) and replacing it with a panel that is completely transparent.
Maybe someone with some experience will come along that already knows how to do that.
To get you started, you may want to look at this theme, which has already made the panels transparent. if you like it, you can just use it. Otherwise, you could potentially compare the xml files, of find the transparent image that he is using in there and copy it over to your device. It's been a long time since i checked/looked, but the xml that controls the sliding panels today screen is usually something like home.xml or something.
[note: if your phone is not touchscreen, use/look at this thread instead]
If you start playing around, back everything up first! You may also want to browse the "post your screenshots thread" and see if you don't come across some other UI that you like better (or another theme w/o the panels). good luck!

The bronzeres.dll is on the windows directory, but modifying the dll is more complicated than editing xml or cpr files, in my previous post there is a link where you can learn how to unsigne, edit, resign the dll file.

true that..there needs to be a good solid tutorial on cfcgui.

Well its actually quite easy I will give it a try to explain what you want to do
At first it is important to create 2 folders on your desktop. One should be named "Manila" and the other one "Images" ( its not really neccessary to use these exact names, but in my opinion it lets you keep the oversight )
You want to put the manila files you want to work with into the manila folder.
There are 2 tasks that I use cfcgui for.
1. Extracting Images from manila files.
2. Replacing the existing images inside the manila files with the one I created.
I will start with number 1.
You put the manila file into the "Manila" folder and then start cfcgui. Then you go to file->select folder and choose the "Manila" folder. That defines from where the program will get the manila files.
After you selected the folder your manila file(s) will be displayed on the left side of the screen. If you want to take the image out of a certain manila then just select the manila file in the list and click Save As in the lower right corner. And then select the place where you want to save the png. I wouldnt recommend saving it in the "Images" folder .
Thats all to extracting pics from manilas
Now for 2.
Lets say you have created an image that you want to put inside a manila file. Of course you first have to make sure, that the dimensions of your image are the same as the original .
You have to put this image into the "Images" folder and start cfcgui. You have to select the "Manila" folder again through file->select folder. After that choose the manila file you want the image to be placed in, in the list on the left. Then in the lower right corner click Replace with.. and choose the image file in your "Images" folder. After you pressed ok you are already done Now you can close cfcgui and you have the modified manila file in the "Manila" folder. It still has the old name, but the image will be changed
Thats basically what cfcgui works like.
There is something else, that might be of use though, too.
If you want to have like 5 different images stored into the same manila file, then instead of making the steps in 2. five times you can simply put all the image files into the "Images" folder and your 1 manila file into the "Manila" folder. Then you start cfcgui and select the "Manila" folder again .
Now you wanna click Tools->Import from PNGs. Then you select the "Images" Folder and the program does the rest for you
This will put all the png files you put into the "Images" folder into the manila file. So it basically does all the steps in 2. as often as there are pngs in your "Images" folder.
You will then have 5 manila files in your "Manila" folder. Which each have the name of the png file and no longer of the manila itself. So you just have to rename them to the right manila name and you are done.
Thats basically all I use cfcgui for and all I know about it
Hope that helped some of you

Mhm I dont try to directly expoort it to my device because I was told, that it is much safer just trnasferring it manually so that not accidently other files are beeing changed. I would recommend you just take the manila file out of the "Manila" folder and put it somewhere you remember on your phone and then use total commander or resco etc to copy it into windows. if you did everything right then you are asked to replace an existing file and you are done
success
it worked!!
I used total commander to replace the file and there it is!!

ähm...well....the taskbar isnt nearly as easy as what we did right here. There is no simple editing of files and you are done. YOu have to put up .dll files and so much other stuff. If you search the forum you will surely find someone who can explain that to you, but I would recommend you first master one craft and then go to the next
But of course, just try and see how far you get
lol...yes i think you might be right there!
im happy with my M6silver i have now,its just the sent, sending sms and mms icons dont work ...but that can wait till tomorrow lol
and thanx for your black sms widget,I like that one
lol..... I just found your blue "honeycomb" sms widget....that one looks better on my blue phone, and already pretty much has the same bubble.
missed call icon
getting there bit by bit.....
now I just need to find the name of the missed call icon on the home screen in minila
thats so awesome thank you.
I was under the impression thats you had to have the device hooked into the desktop. so cfcgui would send the newly created manila file into the windows folder. so now, as long as your aware what manila file is what graphic your good. its finding which is which thats the pain.
ok so I ask you what exactly "mode9" and "qtc" is and what do they do?
one other thing what is all this patching, trim, padding and cfc compress?
anything we should be greatly concerned about?
thanks again for taking the time to explain this.
btw your new clock widget is really nice.

Yes, I thought so too at the beginning, but to me it feels much more easy to do it on the pc alone That also lets you have Backups of your manila files
I dont really know what the patching, trim, padding and cfc compress commands do. But I was told, that for the things we do. And that is extracting and replacing this is not needed. I am doing this now for quite a time and I have never come across an issue with those. So just ignore them
Well there are basically 3 different manila files: Mode9, Lua and QTC.
QTC manila files are the image manila files, that we can use to replace images inside the manila or extract images. They more or less give you the visual layout.
The Mode9 Manila mostly handles Font colors, the arrangement of components, font sizes etc. For my Pulse Clock Widget I of course had to make a mode9 file, too. That defines, where the text appears and what color, size and font are beeing used. But if you want some more detailed insight, then just visit poyensas thread. He is the master of the mode9 files
The Lua manila files are only needed for widgets. They define how the widget should work with the device. For example whether it is resizable, pinnable, where it should get information from and if it has layouts. This one basically is the mechanics of the widget.
So just keep in mind.
Mode9 = Creating visible/invisible Components
Lua = defining the mechanics of the Widget and working with the components from the mode9 file
QTC = the easiest to work with and used to put images into a widget or something similar.
Hope that didnt make it more complicated. And of course my explanation here isnt far as good and accurate then what others can explain to you. But I think it covers the basics
Thanks for your praise I updated the cab, so you should check back

Sure out there are some tutorials, but its actually not that hard:
You will need the program cfc_gui and a program like gimp or photoshop. You have to find the 5E90131C_manila file in your windows directory and copy it to the sd card and after that put it somewhere on your pc.
Open cfc_gui and open the folder the manila file is in. Than in the lower right corner select save as and change it as a image file.
Now you will have a image with 512x128 pixels. Open in your photo editing program a document with these dimensions.
After that you can start editing or creating a new one. The other image is only a guide so that you dont create a file that isnt usable.
If you have the image ready, then just open cfc_gui again and select the 5E90131C_manila. then in the lower right corner you press replace and choose your image. Now you have the image stored in the manila file. After that you can take the 5E90131C_manila and put it into the windows directory of your phone and overwrite the old one. After that restart sense and you are done
Thank you!
I will try it.
If I am not able to do it, after your explanation, I have chosen the wrong profession (M.SC. Computer Science) *g*

Hehe^^ I am sure you will manage that, if not, just ask again
The icons are a lot easier. Just make an image with 128x128 pixels and name it:
CHT_softkey_win
CHT_softkey_menu
CHT_softkey_tabslider
CHT_softkey_phone
CHT_softkey_web
and
CHT_softkey_lock
after that just place them in your windows directory of your device and after a sense restart you are done
Great, if I get some good results I will post them.
how can i link missed calls count and sms and email to softbar and show them insted of link to oben the default web, phone, slider, lock, etc
Check this thread if you havent already.
there is a couple examples and Nordpolcamper uploaded a little guide/ template.

for me it was hard to get it aligned perfectly. you could always paste a softkeybar on your wallpaper and use a transparent softkeybar as the actual bar itself.
let me know how it goes.

Hehe^^ well the easiest way to make a cab is using Quick Cab. Just search it and you will find it Lanch the taxi like exe and then go to files, then select all your files on the left side and then select windows on the right side and press add.
After that go to create, select the name for your program, enter your name and then go to browse, select where you want to save it, then enter the cab name press ok and then press create.
After that you are already done

looking good But I would recommend, that you use higher resolution icons for the softkeys, because they appear to be blurry^^
It's only the screenshot I think.
They look good on my device.

Thats quite easy But if you really want to work on the Softbars, I highly recommend just overwriting the files. Cause if you always install a cab you will get a very huge list in your programs list and that can be very messy. But if your eyes are set on it, I would suggest you download quickcab.
For simple cabs this is the best program and its very easy to use. Just set the directory to the windows folder, add what you want to copy and then give the program a name and a name for the Cab and press generate and everythings already done.
If you need help, just say so
i will just overwrite till i make a good one. ty for help
i have your nordpolcamper gingerbread theme its great..but when i make softbar its only picture ..how did u made icons for softkeys for web phone and startmenu?
here you go

Hehe^^ I am sure you will manage that, if not, just ask again
The icons are a lot easier. Just make an image with 128x128 pixels and name it:
CHT_softkey_win
CHT_softkey_menu
CHT_softkey_tabslider
CHT_softkey_phone
CHT_softkey_web
and
CHT_softkey_lock
after that just place them in your windows directory of your device and after a sense restart you are done

[BOOT ANIMATION] finished my boot animation but cant get it to work

i made a boot animation to match the liberty rom. it is the raising of the flag on mnt serabachi on iwo jima. i made the folder structure and the appropriate desc.txt but it wont play on my dx. Can anyone help me get this to work?
sound DO NOT WORK on liberty Rom (dont ask me why cuz i really dont know), i was checking you animation and i recommend to use at least minimum 480x320 image size and max 480x854 , as you may know you can set the animation size on the desc.txt so no need to go high and then going down on the desc.txt , that way you'll have a not heavy and lighter zip file at the end cuz 29MB for a bootanimation is kinda big using only 220 frames.....
P.S. that's one of the reason i use .jpg format instead of .png
thank you for the reply. is there any way to batch resize the pictures? i really dont want to do 220 pics individually. I CAN however, batch rename the pictures to the .jpg extension. I will do that and research how to batch resize.

well you need a plugin, but its free and so far working great! not only is it resizing all my images, but it is also changing em to .jpg at the same time.
i just finished resizing, im going to try it now.
ok i tested the boot animation again with the resized pictures in a jpg format. the size is now 480x360 because i kept the original ratio, and i made the desc.txt 480x360 at 15fps. i converted everything to .jpg and i removed the audio. i used the liberty toolbox to flash it then i confirmed it was in the right spot using root explorer. i rebooted and all that appeared was a blank screen... any suggestions?
i really would like an answer, bump
Make sure when putting all the files/images/desc file into the zip you set the compression method to STORE and not NORMAL. When my bootanims were just a black screen this is what fixed it.

if you are using WINRAR do the follow :
1- select the folders and file to compress
2- right click on you mouse/touch pad (in case you are using a laptop like me LoL)
3- select " add to archive"
4- there you can change you compression method from normal to store
5- add a name to the file and select ZIP
6- click OK
7- you're done.
if you are using 7zip is pretty much the same steps from winrar...
hope that helps
thank you so much it works now! im going to put a few finishing touches on it and post it up!

Super ..... hope to see your animation soon
a few things for future reference though,
1. what is a good gif creator? i have tried at least 10 websites and at least 6 programs and none do what i want efficiently. i want to open all 220 frames at once and make an animation rather than opening each individually like i had to.
2. what is a good video to jpg creator? i had to go frame by frame and take snapshots for my entire animation last time and i took like 2 hours:/

1 - Animated GIF Producer and Ulead GIF Animator so far are the best out there
2 - Video to JPG converter is my favorite and the best for bootanimations.
thank you, thread can be closed.
