MyTouch Slide System Leak - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Originally posted in the Eris section.
There isn't anything else and it's weighing in at a heavy 164mb!
Obviously this isn't going to just fit on the G1 or MyTouch without a2sd.
Any devs wanna take a crack at it?
http://www.multiupload.com/BI273PR9YB

looks interesting indeed

Dont go flashing this yet though people. Its a HUGE system image, twice the size as out normal roms. So, it can (most likely) will cause some damage, if it flashes. Ever added to much to the system memory or a PSP? thats where bricks come from.

true, it needs work first but maybe we should make a poll on how many bricks on trying anyway hehe

Ne clues as to how compatible the mytouch slide is to a 32a magic ? so essentially wht im asking is that does this dump have the drivers we have been waiting for ?

164 Mbs?! Wow! I wonder if this contains those touch screen drivers we've been searching for...

I wonder how this will be compatible with 32A models?

This is wht im doing, im flashing king's 2.1 rom with 32a patch. Then going to push libs and stuff and see how it goes. Expecting it not to work, but hey its fun

Will check this out for Camera Drivers, And Some Res video Fixes

is this complete with bootimg??

This would probably be a close match for the fender as it uses the board with the 3.5mm jack.

yea my thought exactly... wish this dump had a bootimg ...
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk

But this uses a different processor. its the 600mhz processor like the HTC Legend. There is also report of android spin about the specs. touch screen is bigger, probably 3.5" compared to Magic/MT3G's 3.2". RAM is at 512MB, ROM is at 512MB as well.
Check android spin article : http://goo.gl/vfDh

Red Flag?
There is something funny about this build.
Look at the Mms.apk file.
If you look at the icon png file (whatever the actual file name is, can't remember) you will see something strange on it.
You will see "XDA" on it and that it is only File Version 1.00
Why would I have a more recent software on an older phone?
Unless there is something wrong with my phone itself.
I extracted it and couldn't see the file that it is showing in Astro so I can't be sure.
I noticed this by dumping the system/app onto my sdcard and viewing it with Astro.
Obviously who ever dumped this modified it in some ways.
I think we should use extra care when playing with this.

[DEVS] HTC Tattoo system dump! (raw n' uncut)

This is for developers ONLY.
Do not ask me to send you the dump. It's not yet ported. Therefore it cannot be flashed to your G1, MyTouch, or Galaxy.
This is essentially the HTC Tattoo build that is operating with the "Sense UI" and over the 1.6 Donut firmware.
This latest system dump comes to us from none other than Drake Drizzy Rogers. He is the hardest working man in the game right now. Please, be sure to pay him your respects for this.
Now, having said that...he has already sent this to JAC and cyrowski to be ported for the G1. We simply need someone to lead the charge for "us" Sapphire users.
I'm not going to FILE SHARE the dump w/ a link in this thread for obvious reasons. Follow me on Twitter...we will exchange e-mails, and the file will be sent to you and/or the direct link. Thanks.
www.twitter.com/site_unscene
EDIT: For those developers or future go-getta's that do not use Twitter...this link that follows is the direct link to the dump.
Oh!! Nice Nice Nice!!! All my respect, can hardly wait!!! Thanks devs, thank you Drizzy!!
"porting" a G1 rom to be used on a G1 is approximately a 5 minute affair at this point. Once JAC/etc releases their Dream/G1 version the 32B will follow shortly.
32A is a slightly different story however, although we can always use an off the shelf kernel until one of the Hero devs actually decides to share their kernel patches or compile a 32A kernel for us.
what's the hardware differences between tattoo and magic 32A!? apart from the screen 2.8 display in tattoo
Thanks guys.
Keep in mind fellas...
This is NOT a ported build just yet. Hence the name, "Raw n' Uncut."
It will only work on the HTC Hero right now. Otherwise, developers need to port this to our 32B devices first, then shortly thereafter, the 32A versions.
Thanks for keeping the thread alive! Folks have a right to know what to be on the lookout for.

mostly just ram and radio is different and screen types, i think tattoo is resist. and magic is capac.
HTC TATTO Specs | HTC MAGIC 32A Specs
This is definitely exciting as I have been hoping for a merger of Hero and 1.6 (aka Donut). I'd imagine by the end of the night or first thing tomorrow somebody will port this to 32B. Thanks again to all you cooks, without you are phones are "normal". LOL!

Yes, HTC stated that the 2.8" screen is too small for the capacitive input.
Spoke w/ JAC and cyrowski about this:
They were given the system dump on Wednesday evening. (Two days ago)
So, Lord knows we could be expecting something soon from them for the G1.
As for the Sapphire crowd. Those of us who don't use the G1 anymore, and have a MyTouch, Magic, or Sapphire...will have to wait until a full ported build has been formatted. I am hoping that Setenza gets his hands on this soon, that way we can get "our own" version, as opposed to a JAC/cyrowski port. (Not to say that they don't cook up some excellent stuff.)
Spoke w/ Drizzy:
He said that he has the UPGRADED MARKET and GLOBAL SEARCH up-and-running flawlessly on this build. It's only a matter of time before we see some seriously impressive builds in terms of speed.
I have the source for the codes if anyone wants them, which were provided by a good friend of mine @ www.DroidHeaven.com
I think it's a fake..
Look on the bootscreen, build.prop and the app folder..
yes its fake.
fake !!!! it says cupcake 1.5
Is it really a fake? What a bummer.
The HTC page says 1.6, but all the other review sites say it is running 1.5

Tattoo will run 1.6, period.
the tattoo build is using sdk 3 of donut. It's a little behind as donut is now sdk 4.
Sorry folks.
Guys, that post isn't fake. That was the "Tattoo" system dump that Drizzy provided via Twitter a few days ago. I didn't post the build.prop or Donut source codes. Obviously, that's why I insisted that people contact me on their own time. He sent this EXACT file to JAC and CC.
Quit suggesting that it's fake. It isn't. The build.prop file wasn't hosted, nor the code sources.
I didn't mean to mislead you guys.
For what it's worth, he's almost done the Donut Hero build, and JAC is working on his too. Something will be ready for use soon.

HaHa,you neednt to worry about that, cause the system of this handset is much older than ones available for G1,the machine is a very very old man ^_^,using a very very old version of Android.
SO NO NEED TO TAKE THE RISK..
Im not that technical when it comes to this, but can the hardware even handle Android?
Forget upgrading them,DUMP THEM. I'd like to see how well the "proto-android" firmware would work on the g1.....once ported of course. And where did you find these? I'd like to try to get my hands on one.
I'm not sure if these can even handle full-blown android - they have 200mhz processors for crying out loud! That said, demos show they are blazing fast (even faster than ours around the ui!) but since these were never put into full production, I doubt you can update it easily...
Good to see you have found 2 gems there... thinking of selling them? =P
dam those are some great prototype android devices, you must keep one stock default, very rare, quite valuable i think. especially the white one.
Woha, prototype devices!

MMM~~~I will post some pics later.
What I want isnt flashing G1's ROM in onto them but ROMs from themselves and moded to fix the wlan's problem, cause their wifi cannot work properly yet.
the problem is that there's no source, so we can't really backport a wifi driver for the older kernel (does it even have wifi radio?)
For those who want with old android builds (don't know why though) go here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/older_releases.html
download the older sdks (betas and pre-betas), they all come with emulators, you should be able to (using their tools folder) dump the system from them (or unyaff's the system included). Again there's really not much there
i doubt that you will be able to flash anything from g1 on this phone, as its screen obviously is a different res

My friend said that he had one with wifi, can I dump something from it and push it to my EXCA300?
And what steps should I take?
The URL you mentioned, which I had explored early in the morning, includes bulks of SDKs,and through the wiki I have posted before,I knew some SDKs available for EXCA300 then downloaded some versions. They are:

android-sdk_m5-rc14_windows.zip
android_sdk_windows_m3-rc22a.zip
android_sdk_windows_m3-rc37a.zip
I need more information about the recovery and HBOOT...

Not really. Stanford SUSE has a ton of these. Supposedly bought them in bulk on the cheap. I had a hold of one for a while a few months ago trying to see if it would be worth the time to get production Android (then 1.1) onto it. It was pretty much a lost cause without support from HTC.

Open each .apk, edit the images, then resign. If I remember correctly, changing the resolution in the build.prop may also help (Don't quote me on it though)

I know this is completely off topic but what if we ported this to a higher resolution device such as the Rhodium that supports the same native resolution as the X10? I say this because I'm still learning how to do all this and don't know nearly enough to make it work.
lol yah I will port it to the g1
no one has ported it yet

[Request]Sense Ui for MyTouch 3G 32b

I don't know if this as already been requested or not (and before you start flamming me, I did search).
I want to ask the cook community if it's possible to release and apk of the sense ui for the official 1.6 rom (I know I could just flash a new rom, but I don't have the expertise to do it by myself).
My reasoning for making this request is the following.
If it's possible to include the Sense in several roms, them it should be possible to create an .apk to install it, like when you install htc home screen on windows mobile pocket pc.
thanks for reading.
p.s. unless you have something useful to add, no waste your time and the forum resources just to say, for example, "it can't be done" if you are not a developer.

How is saying "it can't be done" not useful? That's like me asking someone to make my magic faster than a computer! Is that possible? Probably not and I think it'd be nice (if I actually thought it could happen) if someone informed me that it's not possible.
I'm not a dev, but I think I can come up with reasonable answers for your question.
Since you aren't even able to flash a new rom (which requires pressing about 5 buttons after root, I don't know how you're not able to do that?), I'm assuming you know almost nothing and I thought it'd be a good idea to inform you, that something like this would be a waste of time and almost impossible. so, it can't really be done. Installing an APK file goes into your system/app or data/app. The sense ui has a freak ton of APK files along with it so installing just 1 apk file well (in my opinion) would not work out well at all. I believe there are also these odex files or whatever (I don't know much about them) but if I'm correct, those will also cause more problems. I belive that the original sense ui has a bunch of apk files in the system/app/ folder and people here even have issues porting out stuff from it, so good luck getting the whole thing out into an APK file on an unrooted phone.
It makes no sense to do this when we could just flash a rom.
Maybe someone could do something like the dxtop or GDE or w/e but that stuff lags like crazy and would probably be missing a lot of things from sense ui. Sense UI is nice and smooth, but already has some lag. It would be horrible and totally a bad idea imo.
Oh and one last thing, it's being done on the 2.1 right now. Why go back to 1.6
I find it ironic that you complain not to waste time and to not post something like "it can't be done." I could've just said that instead of explaining it to you but whatever, I could be wrong. I doubt you understood anything anyways and I think you sort of wasted the time of whoever read this because you didn't do enough research. But if someone can actually do this! Then I'm sorry for wasting your time. But I doubt it.
Whoevers going to do this, good luck lol.
I almost forgot to mention, There's like 1 sense ui rom for 32b. If it was easy, there would be more. Sooo since you're requesting this for 32B, I'm pretty sure.. it's not possible
My friend your response was more than useful. Finally someone explain it like I was (which I am) a complete noob.
As for your strangeness on my inability to install a custom rom, well, let me put it this way, I don't understand half of the steps to get the phone rooted, the right spl, radio and so on... In fact, the only flaw I have to point to the xda-community is that most, if not all, simply assume that everyone knows the "technical" terms by heart, which is not true. And you my friend (allow me to call you that) just made me an huge favor, by putting it in very simple and plain terms.
I'm surprised you found it useful lol, I thought you'd find it more confusing.
The only way you'll really understand and learn it is to do it. For starters, do not touch your Hboot/SPL and Radio. That's the main reason people brick. For example, some people think it's a good idea to erase their Hboot and then reboot the phone. I don't know why, but as long as you don't touch the things which have high risk, you'll be fine. Just follow instructions and play with it (It will consume a lot of time though). Another advice is to get a recovery image on your phone first. Otherwise, you'll encounter a soft brick which may be a pain in the ass

normally i don't do this but i don't honestly think you have any idea what you 're talking about.
Sense was first run on 1.5 under the old hero framework last summer. The Droid Eris and Sprint Hero still haven't undergone OTA updates and are still running on 1.5 it was htc's decision to bypass 1.6 altogether.
So having said that, its possible if someone were to take the time to wade through HTC's garble and put it on a 1.6 OS, but why do that when eclair is out???

I can see your apprehension on rooting your phone, but you yourself said you did a lot of research on getting a sense APK for your unrooted phone. why not use some of the research time looking on this crazy website called google.com where you can search things like "how to root a MT3G 32B" upon doing so you will discover a WIDE selection of how to's, you also might find that they link you directly to videos on this other website called youtube.com that show you STEP by STEP how to root your phone. one might say its so easy a caveman could do it.
IMHO if you're too lazy to do any of these things, you probably shouldnt root your phone at all. people wouldnt flame you if didnt come off like an asshole in your first post.

So, if there are any takers in regards to trying to PORT the HTC Sense 3.0 over for our Inspires .. go for it.

^^ Live Wallpapers from HTC Sense 3.0 atleast the main one
that would be sweet, considering HTC will probably stick with sense 2.1 in the gingerbread update for desire HD/inspire. From what I saw, desire HD should easily handle the visuals though...
you might want to add [devs only] seeing as it is not ported, and will only fail or cause problems when flashed..

DONE .. yeah, I see someone had to attempt it !!! DUH
I keep getting Force Close with this live wallpaper.
FYI, a ROM has been released for the Desire HD here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036446
As it is there's obviously some stuff broken, and in no way should it be a daily driver right yet. I'm downloading now to see what happens

Post your results please. Would this run on the inspire?
Im may start working on this this weekend if I get everything else done I want to. See if I can get something to boot.
Will probably need quite a bit of kernel/init work.
And do I remember reading you need a 64 bit OS to compile a 2.3 kernel? Could be imagining things but I thought I read that somewhere. Luckily though, if thats true I just set up a 64 bit Linux box

I tried it out, it ran just as it would on a DHD... the resolution on the Pyramid is higher than the DHD/Inspire, and it wasn't scaled down, so you can't really see the dock, and the first unlock was a bit weird since there were no icons on the lockscreen to drag down to the ring, and the ring was off the screen.
It worked on AT&T's network fine though. I'm sure once some more work gets done and it fits the screen better, this will be a nice ROM, but right now it's not quite there. But, it IS only the first build and in a very early stage. Keeping an eye on this!
Here's a video someone else made of it on the DHD so you can see what I mean by things not being scaled properly for our resolution - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7P5b-e5POY
I just got my inspire and rooted it last week. I think i might flash this, Do I need eng-off or just put it on my SD card and flash it?
thanks for the update

It's not exactly ready for a daily driver, as evidenced by the previous post.

Hmmm. I wonder if this line in the build.prop is what is causing your display density issues???
line: ro.product.display_resolution = 4.3 inch QHD resolution
The density is set to the standard 240 DPI. That is most likely the culprit.
Just watched the video looks freaking amazing can't wait for the devs to get this thing working
