This is the method I used ages ago like last year for my Singapore HTC Magic.
I can't say if this is the best way to do it but it certainly did the trick for me. Good luck and just make sure you read every step well.

Hello Dinosaur ,
I could flash the recovery mentioned in the website. But I see the 10 th point is...
10. To get Root access you MUST go to the next video mentioned above and load a custom ROM.
So that's why I got confused...
Probably you could tell me the ROM you flashed. I bought my mobile from singtel...
And thanks for your reply...

the 10th step is a little misleading. you do have root access by now and you just need to go to the other video to see how to install a rom on your phone.
i checked all the links, they work fine for me.

Yeah once u root your phone successfully, boot up your phone by holding "Home+Power" button and it will go into recovery mode. Then do a nandroid backup and keep this file safely. From there, you are ready to flash to a new rom. Remember to wipe first before flashing. Personally i recommend SuperD. And check that the rom is for old radio and it's 32A

No. You can not flash anything without rooting your phone. No, the ROMs are not rooted, the phone are.

Yeah u have to root your phone first. Just follow the steps on theunlockr.com and you'll be fine. I was like you initially...clueless about rooting and flashing new rom. But once you've tried it, it's actually quite simple. And since HTC Sg wont be updating 2.1 for HTC Magic, all the more we must root our phone.

i just bought Nexus S and follow online instruction to unlock the bootloader and root the device. So far evrything going so well until i do " flash rootboot.img" (download from nexushack.com) and my phone is stucking at google logo forever.
Then i try to "flash clockworkmod recovery " is successful but my phone still be bricked. Have try to return to stock GJH-78 BUT STILL NOT WORK.
Can anyone help me to bring back to live my phone, thank you.
My phone is G-i9020.
i found that ODIN was the best way to get my phone back from being bricked.
The rootboot at nexushacks also did that to my phone so dont use it.
Acne
If you have the Sprint Nexus S 4G, try the instructions in this thread. Let me know if it works.

I think the problem is that you flashed a boot image that is not compatible with your phone. First, determine if you have the I9020- A, T, or F.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031760 You need to find a post with the stock files for your model, and extract the boot.img. Then
fastboot flash boot boot.img
(If anyone else has the exact same model as him, could you do a nandroid backup and post your boot.img?)
You may need to flash your phone via adb. That's if you can't get into clockwork, there are many threads on how to do this.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
Ok I will try to find out the boot.img and reflash again and let y guy know how it work. Thx all for helping.
Hi, same problem here , i have the i9020A version in white.
Any idea where I can find the correct boot.img?
Ok man I found my boot.img so I will flash mine tonight if it work I will post this for you. Let see hah. We are on the same boat, two noobs is always better than one.
Great, I will try to find one on my own and if it works I´ll let you know.
Thanks.

I found one . In this thread [ROM] Stock - 2.3.4 - GRJ22 - Deodexed w/radio for NS/NS4G
I downloaded the image NSGSM-GRJ22-deodexed-KD1-rooted.zip (108.53 MB) md5sum: 970e9c7252f12a38ecaa6ff77ef6d010
Under: NS GSM - (I9020T, I9020A, I9023)...Rooted/Busybox/insecure boot.img/init.d Script support (Since my phone is I9020A 2.3.4 just rooted, I actually unlocked it, but then the rootboot screw me)

fastboot flash boot boot.img

the Rogers method works... Yu already posted in that thread.
disable lagfix first if you want to keep it stock because the stock kernel doesn't support lagfix..
do that by creating /sdcard/Voodoo/disable-lagfix
the V is capital in Voodoo

OK so you need a ported rom for Turkish.
you should download the rom you need ( it may have a bug where the first call has no audio, this is because its really for a different phone)
then get the gtg ultimate unbrick from the super thread in the development section.
then use Odin to flash the Rogers root kernel. the reboot may take over 5 minutes. if it gets stuck use the unbrick pachage to recover the phone, you will be on 2.2.1 if you do this so the root kernel will be different.
if it goes well and you don't need to unbrick then you will go into recovery ( hold the volume buttons and power till you see "Samsung" in white letters) once in recovery flash zip from sdcard, choose zip, find the rom.zip and flash it.

yeah, ROM Manager is a bad thing when it comes to our phone.
ODIN does not put your phone in download mode. There are numerous ways to accomplish that and those are outlined in a few different posts here as well as the wiki.
Do you know if you were on Froyo or Gingerbread before you tried to flash something? Also, what ROM did you try to flash? Going from Froyo to Gingerbread, and vice versa, requires you to flash the proper boot loaders.
I suggest checking out Lumin30's [GUIDES] Fresh out of box Galaxy S 4G [SOLVED] | Heimdall One-Click For Dummies. Awesome guides and they should get you back to a working status.

I was on Gingerbread 2.3.6 something like that, I wanted to flash to Vahalla Black but didn't even get close to that process sorry for my english. I will check the guides thanks for the fast respond! Thanks again already on download mode!
No worries on the English; you did quite well
Let us know how it goes and if you need help. There are plenty of us here that can help. Once you get the one-click installed, you should be able to flash Valhalla Black with no problem.
Good luck!
Just fine I think

[Q] Accidentally wiped my system.. Help!!!

1st of all, i am a beginner. Just brought my android ics phone last month. I also rooted my phone by the help of my friend last week. But yesterday i was trying to restore factory settings. But i accidentally wiped my system. And now my phone wont boot. It stuck in BootScreen. Nothing happens then. I dont have the backup of my rom. what to do now ??? Please help!! Sorry for my bad English & Thanks in advance who wanna help me
..
What recovery are you using? Even if you wiped the phone you should still have it running. All you need to do is reboot in recovery mode. Hard to tell you how as I dunno what the phone is.
Before that you'll need to download your stock firmware and put it on the root directory of your SD card if you have one, so that once in recovery you'll actually have something to flash.
If the phone doesn't have a SD slot, then you'll need to use a recovery tool on your PC to flash it.
Right now shut the phone down, remove the battery, find some guides specific about your phone, and read them carefully. There's a reason why we're using recoveries. First thing you should have done is to backup your stock firmware somewhere on your computer or on the cloud, and make sure you knew how to use it if something like that was to happen... Little late for that now.
When you'll know what to do, just mind that you still have enough battery to flash the stock ROM. Come back to ask help here if there's something you don't understand. Good luck!

No problem. Just install this partition manager free. It is perfectly adapted for windows 8. And you are offered a variety of options which can swap/merge/separate new partitions. With a very easy-to-understand instructions, everything is perfect!

[Completed] Unknown network error on downloading file

i have been looking for the repair/backup of my root on my Cherry Mobile Blaze 2.0 cause i accidentally full unrooted it using SuperSU application, and then i found this site. and i feel so lucky that it has the most normal/simple tutorial on how to root my device again . and when i download the file about 400++mb, it only says Unknown Network Error, and i tried it for about 4 times. the picture is attached on this thread.
Note : my network is all well, honestly i just downloaded other file from google drive too, and everything is perfect.. so i thnk its not the net.
This is what i want to download .. (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2746658) <-- remove parenthesis
PLEASE HELP ME... I NEED TO DOWNLOAD IT AND ROOT MY PHONE AGAIN..
FOLLOW-UP QUESTION
is it possible to reroot my phone from this procedure.
Well even if you've lost root on your current ROM, that doesn't matter as long as you have a custom recovery like CWM. If you know how then just flash that ROM, but being as you have no device specific forum you should post your question in the thread you linked me.
If you didn't understand any of that, then follow this guide HERE. Good luck.
the one you link to me is for CM Flame 2.0, my unit is Blaze 2.0, is that the same ?
im sorry for being noob but i dont know have any familiarity on the term ur giving me . you mean if i have my CWM on my Recovery mode .. i can just click that and then *bang* im rooted again with my system being reset ?
Thanks for your time and effort on helping me ! i'll expect a reply. TY

The zip is just a generic superSU update zip. It sounds like you have a recovery in which to flash the superSU zip anyway, so yes you may just be able to follow that guide. It won't break anything if it doesn't work though. If you need any further help then you should post in the Android Q&A section. Good luck

I can't give you technical help (read the 2 stickies), although I'll answer you once and say yes it helps: I highly recommend you read up on stuff abour custom recoveries, kernels, etc. To gain better understanding. I've given you a guide to follow HERE and directed you to the correct place to post further questions HERE. If you are still in doubt despite reading carefully through the first link then you should post in the second link where there are many more helpful members who may even have experience with your exact device.
