I have been keeping track of my interntet usage with SPB Wireless monitor for a wile
I noticed that shell32.exe is downloading more thatn any other program or software in my tytn.
does anybody knows what program(s) are downloading data using this shell32.exe?
it is crazy I have traffic from Facebook at 571.2 k, internet explorer 3m

I would try to figure out what kind of files are written to your device.
Shell32 controls your Today screen plugins (among other things). Do you have any plugins that are using data?

The only plugin that I have using data is Weather Panel. I have 4 different radar pics that update every hour. Do you think that may be the cause?

Oh yeah !!!!!!! A regular soft reset will keep it down to size.

Yup, that's probably it. Just download in the morning and again at midday. And try looking out a window, it's cheap.
I did stop weather panel plug in and the problem is gone! I guess the program was downloading to often!

Does anybody know of any software that will restrict the programs able to run on the xda and xdaII?
The reason for this is that i have ~100 xda/xdaII that are being sent out to drivers for use, and they will be using custom made software and a few other programs. therefore we dont want the drivers playing on solitaire or surfing the internet ect ect
Any suggestions?

Check out SPB Kiosk. I did not use this application and I do not work for SPB but it does look like its designed to serve your exact need. Hope this helps.

From the blurb on their web site it looks pretty customizable. Did you try asking SPB for help? I find them usually very responsive. Good luck.
yes i contacted their support team with the error message i was recieving using the form on the website first thing this morning (9am) it is now 14:10 and i still have no reply

I've also noticed this but its only when I turn the volume above the "safe listening" level all sound stops until a rebooy

I'm looking for a decent 'Note Taking Program' and was wondering what you would recommend for the HD2?
What I need is something that I can drop into the favorites on the Home Tab.
Some of the Note Taking Programs don't appear to look 'finger friendly' so I suppose that would have to be the main criteria.

I've been just using the inbuilt Notes app to draw/write my notes. Not perfect, but it gets me by for the time being. until someone creates a good touch based one.

Are you talking of the OneNote App?
Only trouble with OneNote for the Phone is it's not a 'finger-friendly' application (as in I can't find a way to draw directly on the screen).

it's not that brilliant on the HD2, but you can get by with it.
I was going to suggest PhatPad, I mean c'mon what could *sound* any more finger friendly? but it's not that good

Yes... I agree with both Nighthawk and your good self. It's not that good of a program.
You can't really do any 'finger-writing' properly unless you have the zoom at max (which then hampers it's use as a quick note taking program).
Nice to have the audio recorder there though...... but ohh do I so wish there were something better.
Would to know one as well!!! Need to take notes!
Think this may be what you are looking for! Very simple, very small file size, very finger friendly and freeware plus it looks alot better on our HD2's than what it looks like on the authors web site! Cab attached.

Agree......Nice one Nighthawk.
I too have been searching for a much friendlier art tool. This could well be it.
I know we are going off-topic here (deserves it's own topic) but one thing I like is it's not cluttered, quite simplistic but very good at dynamic drawing.
The only thing I have noticed that needs addressing is when you role back any mistakes (unlimited Undo), any ink that was drawn on screen outside of the 'Undo' box is left on screen and you can't get rid of it.
Did you notice this too Nighthawk?

It is sort of strange. When I was using WM5, the OneNote can draw. In fact it defaults to draw. So everytime I need to switch mode to type text. Now in HD2, I can't find a way to draw anything.
PS: the version I currently have on WM5 is 12.0.4518.1010; the version that came with HD2 is 12.0.4518.1155. However, neither of them can draw! I am still trying to dig up where I got the draw-able OneNote on WM5.

in my post you were replying to.
But maybe I was mistaken. The drawing application I used was the Outlook Note program, which also exists on HD2. However, the line drawings are very ugly.
While trying to use EverNote again (last time I tried it on Windows), I notice the forum messages on EverNote for WM and decided I had better stay away from this software.
my Facebook contacts will not sync in the new damage control Rom. anyone have a fix for this ? thanks in advance.

you have too many fb friends.
This happened before and was tested and retested with a few people...
As funny as that seems, you just have too many for it to sync lol
(at least that was the case with the 4 other people that had this error)
So that feature is just completely unusable because of the # of friends I have on facebook? That's crappy enough to make me consider taking the phone back!

That's what my tests pointed to....
Anyways, try Autokiller from the market, use the presets and set it lower.

What specific settings to I change in Autokill?
Although my Facebook contacts have updated, I no longer see Updates in the Updates and Events tab of the people app. I see events (birthdays) but no updates.
Is this an issue that needs to be addressed does anyone know ?
The problem is the memory killer is basically shutting off the auto sync for facebook. So what you need to do is download the app in the market called "Auto Killer" and you can save the values that damageless has put in place, or You can just hit Menu -> Presets and set it to default then try syncing.
Wait a few mins or more like 30 just to make sure that everything is done. Then if you want to you can set it back to the values that Damage had on there. Or just set it to a preset of Aggressive

I tried cleartemp and it did not work, every time i update twitter it causes sense to crash.
Been working fine for weeks and suddenly i have a problem. Im in the process of chatting to HTC to resolve, unless someone can suggest where to look??

It's simple... when you know it
First go to settings and turn off Sence.
Now go with explorer to device\temp\twitEng
Empty the folders Cache and Db.
Turn Sence back on, and your done.
On the Twitter tab you have to sign in again.
Sometimes when you sign in again, it keeps asking you to sign in.
When this is the case, do a soft reset and everything works.

Hey guys just a heads up that the Twitter API has been having issues for the past few days causing the tab to crash sense.

Yh i managed to figure out the procedure myself last night but didnt have time to post it here
@Chris, just remember to show all files if using File explorer and that you may need to rename a file to anything you want temporily as it will not delete/corrupted, you should then be able to delete the last file. If your using total comm. then shouldnt be a problem.
@Zelendel - yh figured there had been a problem, but hy HD wouldnt work even after Twitters API issue had been resolved, but clearing all files worked
Of course if you wanted you could change the custom files in cleartemp to do this for you, but hey it only took a min or two, so why bother lol.
Now it would be good if HTC did a hotfix that regularly deleted these files as it will of course happen again depending on usage, but hey....

The original facebook for android app took you to the touch site, but this one keeps taking me to the full site, and it doesn't work for my phone. Any help would be appreciated?

same here... it's messed. now i have to keep a friggin bookmark of the mobile app for when i want to look at my notifications...
and this version doesn't notify me when someone comments on my status or when someone comments on another status they i commented on....
What is your brower's user agent set as?

i noticed that if you have your browser settings set to show Mobile View, the full facebook site won't show wall posts amongst other things...

Mine is still set at android, I tried restoring to default awhile back thinking maybe I accidently changed something but that didn't work either
Im sure there will be another update out soon to fix these issues. They have been quick to fix lately. No more contact sync options either, on my phone at least. Almost feels like a broken app on my phone right now.
