Tweaking Asus P525's T9 default input to Abc

does somebody here know how to tweak the registry to make the T9 input of Asus P525 default to 'Abc' instead of 'T9 English' ?
and also, how to make the T9 as default SIP after a soft reset instead of the keyboard?
bumping up
In the download area of Asus there's a small tool that sounds like it does something like that. Sadly direct links aren't possible. You can find it by pressing "Download" in the upper menu of www.asus.com, selecting PDA/PDA/P525 + press Search, then click on "Utilities". Now there's a "T9 Disable and Enable Utility".
I haven't checked it myself yet...
btw: Do NOT install the firmware update that's on the same page, unless you've got or want a french device...

Don't now the registry entry right now, but you can always activate the T9 input by pressing the * key for some seconds.
i know the T9 Disable tool you're talking about and I know how to activate it. but right after activating the T9, you still have 4 options:
T9 English - predictive text input for English language
123 - for entering numbers
Symbols - for entering symbols
Abc - for entering words other than English.
whenever i'm going to type something, like SMS or notes, the T9 always defaults to T9 English. what i want is for it to default to Abc.
i hope somebody here can help me find the registry entry for this.
thanks in advance.
hi boybi,
did u managed to find out how to do it? let me know if you already have the answer. thanks.

WWE 2.03 - can i replace the keyboard?

hi all, im using wwe 2.03 tx, and overall, very happy.
just 1 thing, the keyboard. apart from hard reset if you touch the "wrong place", i also got another problem recently.
i installed lexisgoo english dictionary ver. 3. but the keyboard doenst seems to work- no keyboard layout at all when using this sotware.
so, im thinking, can we just install the default old magician keyboard over this rom ? is this possible? if yes, can i have the link of the cab. file , please
thx
I use resco keyboard.
Use this Happy Tapping Keyboard
Use the Happy Tapping Keyboard, is very cool and looks like an iPhone keyboard, you can use also with the fingers.
Happy Tapping Keyboard Instructions
Installation steps:
1. Install HappyTappingKeyboard.arm.CAB (to device, not to Storage)
2. Install Default_IM_WM5.CAB (to device, not to Storage; for WM5 only; if u already have other program which can set the default Input Method, skip this step & use that program instead)
3. Extract the files in ip_AC_Skin.zip to your PDA's "\My Documents"
4. Goto the "Option" of HappyTappingKeyboard (Start->Setting->Input)
- select "\My Documents\ip_AC_QVGA_P.bmp" for the "Portrait Bitmap"
- select "\My Documents\ip_AC_QVGA_L.bmp" for the "Landscape Bitmap"
(if your PDA is VGA capable, select the ip_AC_VGA_?.bmp instead, and select the VGA option)
- press "OK" to quit
5. Start->Program->IMSelector
- select "Happy Tapping Keyboard" as the default Input Method
6. Soft reset your PDA
7. Enjoy!
hi Thanks!! i use this now. just wondering, do you know what are other options means? i saw one is for VGA device, how about the rest? thanks

PocketCM Keyboard

Just a quick question - I'm getting a little confused here...
Does PocketCM-Keyboard run on the Polaris or not (I hear there's some problems with XT9)?
If it does: would there be a guide on how to set it up properly (apart from what's on the PocketCM Homepage)?
Thanks a lot!
It runs on my Polaris.
Take just the .Cab on PocketCM Homepage if you don't want to take the .Exe.
After installing, do a soft reset and it will be OK.
@+
I heard that you have to disable xt9. Is that not the case?

Nope. XT9 only come as default input mode for pocket contact manager. PocketCM keyboard is totally different and a lot better than the default keyboard.

I wasn't referring to Pocket Contact. I heard from other Touch owners that you would need to disable xt9 in order for other kb's to work properly throughout the rest of the system. One of the examples would be using a regular kb when typing in a contact name in the email address to field.
buggy with T9

Raphael English keyboard fix... anyone?

When using a Fuse cooked rom on the TP/Raphael, the hardware keyboard layout gets messed up (numbers and other keys)
does anyone have the default english layout registry?
based on the german language fix cab, i presume the layout is stored under the following registry keys:
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD
HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartDialing\KeyBoardMapping
HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartDialing\KeyBoardMapping\ToNum
HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartDialing\KeyBoardMapping\ToSD
if that would cut it (PROs please confirm!), i'd appreciate it if someone with a stock english touch pro backed up those registry sections and sent them over
Have you tried using advanced config to change your keyboard lay out?

Different keyboards in different programs?

I use the HTC Diamond and wonder if there is a solution to the following:
When I write an SMS i like to use the "phone keypad", but when I'm in Word or Opera I like to use the full keyboard.
When I change the keyboard I do so for all programs (The keyboard is "Global"), but what I'd like was if the keyboard selected was for the program I was in ("Local" selection of keyboard). This would make things a lot more easy.
Is there already en option making this possible?
Is there software around fixing this?

Welcome to the forum
Do a search for SIP changer, install it, then open in programs and select your desired permanent keyboard.
Good luck and enjoy!
