[Radio] 04/11/10 | Baseband 2.32.40.11.09 for Sprint CDMA Hero - Hero CDMA Android Development

Geek for Me is proud to release:
Updated Radio.img for Android 2.1 (radio version 2.32.40.11.09) for Sprint
Note: This radio is actually older than the newest one I have released however as explained below, different people get better results with different radios.
This is from Verizon's Desire. The verizon radios work better for a number of people.
This has only been tested and confirmed as working on Fresh 2.0d but will work on every Sprint 2.20.651.1 based rom
Flashing an updated radio will typically give you better battery life and better signal
Different radios work differently depending on where you are in the country. You may actually get better performance out of another radio. Test them out.
This won't fix any current problems with the 2.x roms, but it will make your phone more efficient
Don't hold me responsible if you brick your phone
Don't flash this unless you have a CDMA Hero
In case you are wondering, our stock one is 1.04.01.09.21
Check this post for how to flash it: How To: Flash a Radio Update Sprint HTC Hero
DOWNLOAD: http://geekfor.me/radio/baseband-232401109

i flashed the other one today haha ...gueesss amd gonna flash this one too
thanks flipz

Dumb question, is DC 2.6 a Sprint 2.20.651.1 based ROM? I know 2.5 is, but I wasn't sure about the newest one.
Thanks for the radio Flipz!

Yea. DC 2.05 and 2.06 are the same rom.

Thanks Flipz, keep it up!

I'm running DarchLegend V5.0 and I just flashed this radio. For some reason my widgets couldn't access the internet and wouldn't refresh. The News and Weather widget just kept spinning on "loading". The internet browser worked fine though. Anyone else see this too on their non-Sprint based ROM? I had been running the newest Sprint radio that Flipz released last just fine.

GOnna give this a shot. Hell my reception sucks no matter where I am in my area. Damn Sprint lacks of towers.

So with this Radio, I get less bars but -85 where before I was getting more bars at -97...so it is btter right?

If the only way I can enter recovery is through adb (home+power send me to stock recovery) can I still install it or will it get caught in a bootloop?

How would a radio designed for a completely different phone make the Hero "more efficient"?
That has to be one of the zanier things that I've ever read.

Ok I'm confused I'm guessing this was just a typo but it says that the radio is from Verizon's Desire but they don't offer the Desire just the HTC Eris and HTC Incredible? I'm guessing you meant to put Eris not Desire but just thought I would double check.

The Eris's radio for the 2.1 leak was codenamed desire I believe.

ok so just to be clear what does it mean if we flash this? will my hero connect to sprint thru verizon towers? just confused here a bit. can anyone shine some light on it?

All this is is a different radio for people who have trouble picking up good signal with their current radio. This is still going to connect you to sprint towers, it's just that it's a radio from the android 2.1 leak which was originally from the Eris. You're still connecting to sprint, just with a different radio.

Sorry for bumping this. But dies someone have this radio? I am trying to follow http://www.gsm4share.com/other-os-development/245-meid-repair-method-htc-hero-2-1-a.html this and could not find the files. I have moved on to other phones but pulled this little beauty from the closet and was trying to revive this.
Thanks for looking,

Kaiser Radios [OFFICIALLY A DEAD THREAD]

This thread is WAAAAY out of date and I haven't had time to update. Please check out AllTheWay's post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182
I'd say stickie this, with each having an agreed upon description, i know you can find them in the wiki, but these are some of the most asked questions/problems people come up with in new ROM threads.
As mention in this thread, there is even a newer 1.27.12.29 Radio version out but unfortunately nobody has dumped it yet...
ponch92 said:
There are currently 3 radios out there on the threads:
1. 1.27.14.09
2. 1.27.12.17
3. 1.27.12.11
1. I believe this one is the new ATT only radio that apparently upgrades some reception and performance but I haven't really seen it.
2. I haven't tried this one but I think it should work with all Kaisers, I don't know.
3. This was the radio that came with my ATT TILT and I think the default radio for most of these ROMs.
Does anyone have a better explination and/or performance reports? I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread so people know what these radios are and where to get them.

AT&T User here in Sacramento, CA.
Honestly 1.27.12.17 radio gives me the best reception over all of them. I also connect to GPRS and 3G quicker. Call quality and overall reception is much improved over the other two radios.
It might be a good idea to mention that Radio 1) 1.27.14.09 is only compatible with the ATT rom aku 0.4.4 build 18128. This is because the the both this radio and rom include new drivers that can only produce sound when used together.
So if someone is using 1.27.14.09 with any other ROM than the unreleased Att build 18128, they will not have any sound.

I understand that the 1.27.12.xx radios can't be used with the AT&T 1.60 rom, but what about the other way around? Can the 1.27.12.17 radio be used with the AT&T 1.60 (stock, not custom) rom? Or does the 1.60 ROM require the newer 1.27.14.09 radio due to the drivers?
Good note, I'll put it in.

For some strange reason...The newest ATT ROM requires you to have 1.27.14.09. I don't know specifically why this is the case but if you do not use that ratio with the new AT&T ROM it will not work. Vice Versa if you use that newest AT&T radio 1.27.14.09 with a HTC ROM you will get no sound. Just read the 1st post and it will solve all your problems.
Ah this thread certainly helps clear some things up. I couldn't figure out this whole radio problem - but having it laid out like this makes it clear.
So does anyone know the advantage of the newest AT&T Radio? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems you have to use an older version of the OS to get a newer version of the radio... ?
It should also be noted that you can get other undesirable effects other besides no sound when using 1.27.14.09 on a ROM that isn't based on AKU 0.4.4
So far I've experienced:
-- Camera not working, shows black image and touchscreen functionality messed up in Camera app (Dutty's New Build + CE OS No.6)
-- Unable to get past HTC logo screen until power timeout, then pixelated garbage fills screen (Gullum Kaiser Touch I)
It might be prudent for ROM cookers to integrate the correct radio into their ROM's for the time being so we don't get a flood of people freaking out that their cameras are broken or their units are bricked.
It remains to be seen if the 1.27.14.09 radio is a one-off, or will be the standard for all new ROMs. Who knows, it may also represent a permanent split between Tilt-based and TYTN II-based ROMs in the future.

Right you are. It seems like this .09 radio is an ATT only thing right now. Hopefully we'll all join in radio cooked harmony soon. I haven't noticed much of a difference between the ones I've tried. I'm currently using 1.27.12.17 with Dutty's newest rom and I was using the .09 with CUSTEL's Rom yesterday... I don't see a difference. Some people do.

You can read about this recent radio here.
This Radio hasn't made it out to main stream cooking yet but should be a general Kaiser radio that works with ROMs not using the specific ATT build (see 1.27.14.09).

FYI This is the radio I have on my XDA Stellar as well as it being on the Dutch Orange Kaiser.
When I get my replacement Stellar (dead pixel issues) I'll be flashing Dutty's ROM and will be able to confirm whether it works with this radio.

Radio question

Flashed Flipz radio for Fresh 2.0 and had a few question that I have asked numerous times in numerous threads and they were not adressed...
1. Will my phone brick if I restore a backup to a 1.5 ROM with the updated radio?
2. Does the radio for Fresh 2.0 work for all 2.1 ROMS?
Thanks a lot guys. I just want to be 100% rather than having skipping stone.

This radio will work on all roms.... 1.5-2.1 and will not brick if you nandroid back to a 1.5 rom. However, there have been numerous reports of bricking when trying to go back to the previous stock radio. Just keep this in mind.

Besides the 1.5.6 RUU, there is no other way to go back correct?
There is a stock radio.zip posted on the forum (instead of using RUU) but it is also iffy. It still has a 50/50 chance of a bricking.

I had a good signal before (cant really tell a difference), but my battery life is greatly improved.
i was also good on the previous radio but just figured it was something they add in the official update so i did it anyway and i used to NEVER get 3g at my desk at work and it would kill my battery going in and out of service for 8 hours straight let alone me playin with my phone but since the new radio its sits at 3g the whole day and i have way more battery when im off work..
I have had nothing but problems with the new radio. I pushed a new PRL to it and still couldn't get a decent signal. I used to get 3 out of 5 bars -70db on the old radio, and now I cant get more than -90db. My Pre still gets almost perfect signal in my house and my Hero is now unusable. I applaud everyone's efforts in making the most of our Heros, but I sure hope a new radio comes out soon!
which of the 2 new radios should we use?
I really cant get a solid answer.
I am on DamageControl v1

I'm out in North Dallas.. Sprint's coverage is pretty good out here.. so I knew right away that something was up with that new radio. I'll probably switch back to my Pre for the next few weeks until the next official radio comes out.

The answer to your question is: I like turtles. (credit goes to id10terrordfw for that one)
But seriously, the reason I said "I like turtles" is because sometimes that question has no clear answer. If you're not having any issues using the stock radio, then there is no reason to change it. Some developers recommend a particular radio because it has worked for great for them and has been trouble-free in hundreds of hours of their testing. But that doesn't necessarily mean other radios won't work just fine. One thing to keep in mind is many Inspire ROMs are ports from Desire HD ROMs, so a lot of these ROMs will recommend a radio that came out on the DHD, because the developer actually owns that phone and that's the radio he uses. Usually, for any ROM that recommends the latest Desire HD radio version, the latest Inspire radio version will work just fine also. So any ROM that recommends version 09.04.11, version 06.06.30 on the Inspire should work just as good in most, if not all, situations.

The problem there, Henry, is that timeless concept of... The grass is always greener...
That other radio *might* give me 6 out of 5 bars signal strength where I had -1 before, not to mention 10 gazillion kb/s down, and 5 gazillion kb/s up.

Ha ha, that is true. I'm the same way. Myself, I've tried every damn radio/RIL out there multiple times. From a previous "gotta flash a radio per day" addict like me, my story to lee_ was to try to keep someone from going down that same path. If someone starts going down that slippery slope, I tried to warn them.
yea im just going to use the one on the other post with the radios. i was wondering the same thing what the recommended radio did better but answer has already been posted guess i will just try all radio and see which one fits my needs(speeds) lol
i too had many issues flashing a radio to my phone and i use a mac. its easy if u have eng off but i didn't want to do that. i finally downloaded the radio from that link so it was already pkged and all i had to do was to put it on the root of my sd and it worked perfectly

Coming Back to the Tbolt

Okay so I was on a few different LTE devices for a while (Charge and Revo) , and I am about to be back on a Thunderbolt in a few days.
When I was originally on the Tbolt, it was April, we barely had a Gingerbread Leak and I believe MR2 had been leaking around.
My question to you guys is, what's the best root method currently (ADB, or Revolutionary?) and also....
What radio should I be on when I get the device to be able to enjoy most of the roms out there. I'm hoping to be able to enjoy some Gingerbread.
Sorry for the newbness as I have been a crack flasher with Odin and other Samsung stuff that I completely lost track of Tbolt development.

haha, what a coincidence, i just got done reading your entire thread.
So basically its the same as before.. all GB based roms are working on ANY MR2 radio.
Gotcha
What radio do you recommend? at the time when I left the Tbolt, MR2 was causing reboots on people.
Also, is the recovery that revolutionary comes with a decent one in terms of being able to perform backups, etc?

The most recent CWM is good, but the early 5.x releases had some issues. Not sure what the newest one is. I'm still on 3.something... cuz it just works.
There's a lot of opinion in radios. Right now I'm using the RUU 1.70 CDMA radio with the RUU 2.11.605.3 LTE radio. Generally there's not a big difference. I'd say the 2.10 and newer radios, including the 1.70 radios, are probably the most popular at the moment.
I seem to get better download speeds with the 802 radio than the 906. Not sure about the lte one yet though. Is there a combined release of the 906 for cdma and lte

The radio could be anyone of the GB radios. Best bet is to take a few for a drive and see what works best for you. I use the 802 with good results. I used Revolutionary and everything was soooooo easy. The recovery in revolutionary is very easy too. The only big question is what ROM to use. I would suggest to try the one that lasts a long time (name omitted because of a spat between this forum and their Devs). I hope you can read beween the lines. And there's a host of AOSP ROM's too. Good luck and let us know what you choose.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I have one more question, with the OTA that is about to come out. Is that going to be rootable? I'm afraid the phone VZW ships me will already have the update

[Q] Radio Version & 2.08 Roms

Found a ROM I'm happy with. Energy 2.08 base 3.5 Sense rom.
I'm wondering what the best radio to use in the UK would be? I updated to the 10.58 radio ages ago and wouldn't risk going back to 10.56. Noticed today I'm only getting 3 bars of signal in a strong coverage area. T-Mobile. Use to get constant 5 bars easily so I'm wondering if its just a ROM and radio mismatch?

Hi,
The best radio is the one that works.
If you used to get a better signal with 10.56,then that is the best one for you.
You have to try a few radios before you find the right one,and test it on various ROMS.
You will eventually find the best combination of ROM/radio.
I'm getting confused with RILs too. Do they get applied when flashing a custom ROM? Because I've never updated those since using the gingerbread RUU months ago. I swear this stuff was more straightforward on the old Desire.

The RIL (Radio Interface Library) can be very important, it might just be that the RIL you are using has all the right instructions in it anyway for the radio you are using, I suggest you always flash the correct RIL for the Radio you are using.
