Just for reference I am using the Most Beautiful edition rom.
Navigate to HKLM/Software/HTC/CommManager
Do these following steps... (without the quotes)
Change "SuppordedFunctions" to 9 (if only at 7, I will show how to add IR as well)
If you DO NOT have IR in your Comm Manager:
Add a new key and name it "7"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "IR"
If you already have IR, then add this to get VOIP:
Add a new key and name it "8"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "VOIP"
There you have it. Now you have 9 settings in the Comm Manager. I do not know exactly what it does yet, just wanted to post my findings. Someone can maybe clean this up a little and add it to the Wiki if they find it helpful.
I just enabled this and it does indeed give you an 'IP Phone' icon, plus if you click the settings there is an IP Phone option. Neither actually do anything except make it beep....
I just put a sniffer on to see if there was a DNS lookup for a SIP server or anything when you click the Icon, there isn't I assume this will be something that is provided with your GSM contract and will be pushed down to the phone via OTA. If you click Phone Options, then services and get the settings for Voice Mail & Test Messages there is an option now for 'Internet Voice Mail', this is greyed out though.
Andy
at least it's possibly one step closer to figuring out how to get it to work... or at least how to turn it on and off when it is working.
I just tested this on the PDAVIET3 WM6 ROM. This brings up the Error message:
Comm Manager only supports 7 Entries. -> does NOT work.
In order to find out what is causing this please let me know where to check the Version of the Comm Manager(already have a dumped pdaviet3 rom on my pc at home.) so I can compare it to the Version you have.
I hope we can get this VOIP Service figured out soon

Look here
On the other thread about the Internet Calling in WM6 thers is a link to the MSDN site. If you dig about on here you can find lots of information regarding this; I thought this was interersting:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb330889.aspx
Unfortunately I don't have a SIP server so all I can do is sniff the network and watch the phone attempt to connect to the SIP server....

My Comm Manager version is 1.3.2.0
I also have a copy of 1.0.3.0 which I believe is from the 2.25.11 cingular shipped rom.
someone post a screen shot of the voip button please
The one in the linked thread now comes up with 8 functions at most. Has anyone got a rip of the Most Beautiful one?
I do.. here you go
Also working on getting a screen cap of the button.
Hmm that file isn't working for me, the 7 button that was integrated into Orwells worked with 7 max, the 8 button from the linked thread worked with 8 but that one just refuses to run, I'm on the clean WM6 ROM.
I made this cab with trojan9x's attachment and it worked for me
Here is the screenshot
Still no dice, I think a dll or something is needed for the Orwell ROM. Thanks anyway guys.
Here's how mine looks.

Cab-file works for me @ WM6 MB-edition (thnx guys). But unfortunately when I click on settings>ip phone, nothing happens..
good one..
maybe someday we'll have x10 or more buttons to come..
hehe..
Great Find Trojan9x. It pushes us one more step closer to understanding the "Internet Calling" Feature.
@ TROJAN9x:
I tried adding these Registry settings on my HERMES with WM6 and it says that only 7 is supported. Do you have ny clue about HERMES and it's limitations or do you think there might be another setting for this?
But it works fine on my Wzards.
Is the 'Touch Settings' program a posible alternative for changing which programs are called up by the Videos and the Music button within the cube or is it specific to the Elf?

I'd really like to use CorePlayer for Videos, etc.
Thanks in advance for the help.

yea im pretty sure it'll work. dont have a device though to make sure
Nope, I tried it (all versions) and it won't even install - I get the "the program doesn't have sufficient system permissions" error message. Maybe someone will modify this app for the polaris - it seems like it would be useful since HHC doesn't customize the cube and this does.
** Bump **
I'm another Polaris user (well, it's on pre-order at the moment). This 'Touch Settings' program sounds like exactly what I was hoping to be able to use.
Is there any chance the program can be adapted to work on the Polaris? Can anyone hazard a guess from psargent's "the program doesn't have sufficient system permissions" when installing error message as to what the problem might be since I realise that it isn't reasonable to expect people like the author of this program to have every device at their disposal but if possible fixes can be suggested then maybe it can be fixed "blind"? I for one would be more than happy to validate any possible fixed version on a real device.

Mine is on pre-order as well, and I would love to see this....
PoorlyDuck has some inspiring skins, and then there is this post, on a different site, that changes the cube to six sided.
Here is Poorlyducks post,
page 23 has the skins....

I have posted a few different times to Carlos in the "Elf" forum regarding this topic. Unfortunately he has not responded. It would be nice to use this program versus making the neccessary adjustments to the registry manually. Just a note that permissions error I also received when trying to load to my Touch.
*Bump*
This would be great on the TC. I have found a few registry settings that look easy to change (for the 6 icon side), but a complete program would be better. It would be nice to have the media hub customized as well.

Nope
Hi all,
I´ve got a German Orbit 2 aka TC and as far as I can see it doesen´t work. After installing all necessary files manually (due to rights-limitations) I can start the programm, but it doesen´t recognize my MediaMinihub. I can change the Phoo/Video/Music cube-side, but that´s it.
Maybe its because I got a German ROM...?
sorry for that.

Hi, I'm the author of Touch Settings and I would be very happy to work with the community to get it working on the Polaris.
The CAB install error you're getting is v interesting. Steps to take to try and cure this problem are:
1. The device may be app locked, you need to download a program called Device Security Manager, then with your Polaris connected to Activesync, disable all the security:
Look at this web page for more info.
2. Also, try installing the sdcerts if possible (again, see above web page)
3. Check Free Storage memory; lack of this can cause the problem.
Please can somebody try all the above with the NEW VERSION 2.22 OF TOUCH SETTINGS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324556&goto=newpost)
If it doesn't work, I will upload a ZIP file of the individual files and we can try a manual installation.
Best
C
PS: I don't know an awful lot about security certs and device provisioning, so if any other developers can point me to a way of making the CAB install on the Polaris, please do.

- Is the device app locked in some way: are the security certificates restrictive?
Look at THIS WEB PAGE: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2007/05/30/all-about-application-locked.aspx
...download the Device Security Manager, dock your Polaris and disable all the security.

all the icon show a black box

Sorry to hear you've had problems. If you hard reset your device, your cube should revert to normal. If you are unwilling to hard reset your device, then if somebody could post a registry dump from a Polaris (clean, hard reset device) then I can post a fix CAB for you!

Thanks Carlos, the 2.22pre version works very nice on my Couise.
I have only question:
If I try to change APLauncher layout I get a mesage "It seems that your HTC Touch Software is not recent....", but I can change the apps grid. What the message exactly means? There is any newer HTC Touch Cube version than what is on Cruise installed?
Tnx

Hey guys!
i got a little question about contact managers. if already tried a couple managers (like icontact, pocketcm) but in none of them i was able to find a way to edit my contacts more fingerfriendly. as soon as i wanted to edit a contact (new number, email, whatever) or create a new one i always had to use the standard windows mobile interface which sucks in my eyes.
so my questions:
is there a manager thats has a better gui to edit contacts? if yes which one?
do icontact, pocketcm already provide that option and i just didnt saw ít?
please help me and give me advice how you manage this "problem"
i hope i posted in the right forum otherwise please move it to the right section.
thx
cya notarzt
Try O3Touch
http://www.o3touch.com/
I don't need the stylus at all with it.
Moved as not software release....

PocketCM does it. For new contact, edit contact, etc... the only thing that is still "windows mobile" is contact picture selection.

@claus: thx ill try it and give a freedback
@tene: which version are you using? any specific theme plugin or whatever? because in my version it dosnt work.
edit: @tene: yeah youre right the version i installed couple minutes ago offers that option but i got all sorts of problems with the themes of it and with the keyboard on my 6.5 rom. maybe ill have to try a different keyboard and check whether that will help. or maybe it does not work properly on wm6.5
@claus: well the function is good but the view is a little ugly...
Hi all!
I have just updated my TP2 (Verizon) to WinMo 6.5. The Block Recognizer has disappeared. Verizon's response is a resounding "oh well".
I understand there is a registry entry that will restore the feature. Anyone have any ideas or solutions?
I am desprate, my fingers are too big for the on screen keyboards.
Thanks for advance.
Uncle Eric
Im guessing you also dont like using the slide out keyboard (which i am happily using to type this). I dont know the reg edit for the block recognizer but i can suggest 2 soft input panels u can try. One is Spb keyboard (not free) which has a much bigger onscreen keyboard. There is also my favorite solution for onscreen keyboards....Swype. Its free because it was pulled from the rom to another HTC phone and is compatible with the tp2. If u want the cab let me know. Do a google search to find out how it works. I believe it is a much more efficient way of typing onscreen. If ur not interested in the cab then maybe someone else can throw their hat in as far as the reg edit. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the response.
What I really want is the feature in WinMo 6.1 restored in 6.5. The Verizon Imagio has this feature, I guess, because of the lack of a keyboard.
I like the "Palm Grafitti" type input, I have been using it since the first Palm device shipped, before WinMo or Windows CE even existed.
I am told there is a registry entry to fix all this, maybe I need to find an Imagio and look at its registry. I do know it is not just a 1 or 0, its one of those long {xxx-xxx} type entries.
Thanks again for the suggestion, but it does not work for me.
Uncle Eric
htc has a hotfix for this "HotFix RHo09076". it is on the htc site. it reinstalls the block recognizer and transcriber.

This hotfix does NOT work for the Verizon phones; I'm unsure for others.
I do know that all verizon did was disable the registry value for a few of the SIP(block recognizer and transcriber) and left all the dependent files alone(dll's, registry entries, etc.).
If you're comfortable with a regedit then here's what you'll need to do:
Letter Recognizer
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429690-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
"Default"="0" - Disabled
Block Recognizer
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
"Default"="0" – Disabled
Transcriber
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F0034DD0-2AD4-11d1-9CB0-E84BE8000000}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
"Default"="0" - Disabled
it worked for my verizon tp2 with update to stock wm6.5
I found the registry entries and made the changes.
Unfortunately, this does not make the block recoginizer selectable.
On the menu that selects the keyboard, etc, there should be a selection "other input methods", after selecting that menu, the menu to select "block recognizer " appears.
I suspect there is another step here to add the "other input methods" or "block recognizer" to the selection menu.
The menu is located by pressing the up carret that is next to the keyboard icon.
Thanks
Uncle Eric
I found the Block/Letter Recognizer hotfix. It was on HTC's UK site. Can't post links yet, but it's at:

Problem was, when I went to install it I got an "unsupported device" error. So I edited the XML and made a CAB.
Hope this helps people out, I spent the better part of an afternoon looking for a fix and couldn't find one.

Only, now, I need someone to walk this old man through how to install it.
I've downloaded it to my PC and tried to copy it to the phone. Won't copy.

I'm sure it's simple but if you don't know how, it's frustrating.

Bump!
(Version MR1 just installed)
Have you connected your phone and computer (USB) using Microsoft ActiveSync? Find in the ActiveSync window the Explore utility...should be one of three selections available in a toolbar just below the standard File/Edit/View... toolbar.
Select Explore...and you'll see a typical Explorer view of your phone and its files.
Now, you can drag and drop the .cab file, for example.
Go now to your phone file explorer, find the .cab file...and run it. Voila!
My only question now, is -- I seem to recall that there was an on-screen keyboard with smaller keys than any of the keyboards now available. Is this another "enhancement" in 6.5.
Many thanks to Scott...on behalf of all of us (both of us? -- tee hee) who use the stylus for something other than just tapping. Letter and block recognition is awesome. If you haven't tried it in a while, I urge you to do so...it has come a long way!
Hi,
I am new on this portal but I read a lot in the last days and was very surprised of the solutions you find and also the apps you made working. Great
I know its not looking very good to ask as newbie for help but I hope you can help me... I am searching for more than a week for a solution and tried even to edit the registry but unfortunately I am not good enough to find the solution
So what do I want do to?
I have a HD2 (branding free) and I want to install Avaya One-X mobile.
Well the installation was succesfull and I also get it running inside my company and also the private modus. But since I have it installed I hear no ringtone. It always plays an "ding" and thats all.
So right now I always have to keep my eyes on my mobile to see if someone calls me or not.
And the second problem is that I also get no caller picture displayed..
But as soon as I deinstall the one-x everything is working (phone rings and caller picture is displayed)????
So you are my last hope to find a solution. Please can you help me?
If you need any further infos please let me know
Thanks
Frank
oh... the one-x mobile software is free for download on the avaya webiste
I can post you the link later (I am not allowed to post it right now...)
i'm getting mad with it...
Now I am a step further.. I now that the software deactivates the onboard call handler. I think it is only a registry setting to reenable it. after done the caller name+picture should be displayed and even the call-slider should be back.
Does someone have an idea where I can find the entry?
well now I know exactly the differents between the registry with one-x installed vs without. But I have no experiences in reading/interpreting my results.
Is a Dword something which can be used as name? or is it only a value?
Does someone has a guide for beginners please?
Did you contact Avaya support for assistance?
I have recently taken over all our telecoms at the office (avaya system)
Saw your post on One-x and been reading a little on it. Where did you get the install files from and did you get it working in the end?
I have a support contact with a company called central so I can contact them for free advice if needed
is this the version you are using?
http://support.avaya.com/css/appman...loads/P0438/5.2.x/C201012083328498084#summary
I'll take a look at what the installer does as I've not heard of it before but it's not letting me register to download it .
yep that's the software I am trying to download
Could not create an account either
I have emailed my support company and they will be sending the software to me on a disc.
thanks for your responses.
I installed the version for pocketpc WM6 (not the UC version) and yes it is working fine
But:
The problem I have is that since I have it installed it
- my mobile does not play a ringtone any more
- "slide to answer" and "show caller name+picture" is away
When I get the disc tomorrow ill post up the results.
This app will be very helpful if i get it working
As for the no ringtone issue I am not sure.
I would attach it... but i have no permissions...
@ fards: there are two versions. one for "Windows mobile 5"and the other one for "Windows mobile pocket pc" (here you can find it for WM6). the first is a UC versions. For this you need an internet connection and a uc-server running in your company. the other one is for normal mobile use. it calls via the phone connection the server and then your call is managed by the server.
support.avaya.com/css/appmanager/public/support/Downloads/P0483/C20090710162819340875658#files
you can find it here for free and you need no login
I do not see the HD2 listed as compatible device.
Did you get it working or still having problems?
How does the Avaya interface on the mobile phone look like?
Is it replacing the WM dialer completly or only while Avaya software is running in the background?
I have just installed it onto my HD2. The install hung at the end for about 20 mins. Reset device and the software has replaced my dialer. Appears to be working but im reading on how to configure the ini file now.
Tested on personal mode and call connected fine.
it replaces the dialer completly...
for the ini file you need the settings of your ACM. here you have to enter different extensions for each function...
you also has to to enter your mobile number in the ACM. Because your are identified via your number.
