I wondered if anyone is aware of an app, similar to spb phone on winmo, that allows you to configure your profile so that your ringtone/ringtone volume so that its quieter when you're at work and then louder out of work ?
hope that makes sense !!!

Locale or Setting Profile
Hi.
you could try either of these, I think they do what you're looking for;
Locale - http://www.twofortyfouram.com/
Setting Profile - http://www.probeez.com/?p=11
perfect, thanks very much.
went for Setting Profiles (full version).

I bought this:
http://www.softxperience.mobi/141-1-Quick-Profiles-Pro.html
$1
This version is the free version
http://www.softxperience.mobi/68-1-Quick-Profiles.html
Yes, that's the free version.
But for $1, I got a nice icons and a widget to quickly change the profile.
$1 is not expensive, and I would rather do this to support the Android platform

It's a little late, but thanks for this post. I picked up Quick Profiles Pro, and it's working like a dream on my Samsung Captivate. I was sorely missing the ability to switch between sound profiles quickly, like I was able to on my Omnia with SPB Mobile Shell installed, so this has been a godsend.

I just got the ADW.Launcher and it has been the best home replacement app so far.
You have the nexus one like app drawer and shortcut dock, and you can adjust the speed the pages flick, page bounce back (like the iphone) and set the number of pages you want to have.
Fully supports all widgets, and really fast (no lag at all like open home or a home)
the best thing is i've used my x10 for 5 hours straight and its only gone down to 95% battery left.
give it a try!
Am using it. Love the Sense Preview, although it could be less choppy (but they fixed most of that in the latest version). Also like the dock bar, and applications drawer.
it great, however, before on one of main screen I had option to turn wifi, bluetooth, phone and gps on the fly by tapping on it. Now after I installed ADW, it is gone, does anybody know how to get it back or something alternative?

Try Setting Profiles pro. there is a free version also available. its owsam.
If you are able to afford some good application, then try locale.
It is able to do more than just meeting profiles.
For meetings, you can either set the time slot, or use the geolocation of your phone to do so. Personally, I use it for school so I only know how to use Time as the condition. Then it can use these conditions to trigger settings like lowering your ring volume.
By the way, locale can do much more. You can go google about it.

2. MeContacts
3. Speak n Send
4. Storage info

Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Hi - I think if they are unique and useful then we'll need to post a description of what they do, otherwise you'd have to download it and try it out to see if it's something that you'd find useful....
For me - Data on demand - switches your mobile data connection off when you're screen is off, unless a background task calls for it.
and battery indicator - put's a little battery icon in your status bar which shows you how many % battery you have left.. much more useful than the vagaries of the std battery icon.
Hey above two are very common man
Ok let me tell u abt mine:
1. Droid phone control
U can the contents of ur phone on laptop without using usb cable..u can do a lot more..give it a try

My first post!
Just to correct OP, MeContacts is not a smart dialer. It's an app that you can put different contacts in grid view. You can choose either to call or view contact when you tap on that particular contact. Also, speak and send is great, thanks OP.
I've been nerding and looking up for anything that can improve my X10. I'll name the ones that I don't think are very common. But ya, here goes my long list (in no particular order; i don't use all of these now, but they have been useful to me before)...
*1) QuickDesk Beta
- quick pop up menu where you can add apps/widgets and allows you to stay on your current application (for some reason the double tap doesn't work for me, but single tap works fine)
2) Last Call Widget
- a simple widget that lets you see your last call (can 1 click to call back the caller if it was a missed call)
3) Quick Settings (by Sergej Shafarenka)
- an app that lets you quickly set your WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc. This is better than having a widget constantly running in the background
4) Quick Battery (by Sergej Shafarenka)
- nice looking battery widget
*5) Multicon Widget
- have 4 shortcuts (not widgets) in a normally 1 icon space (helps save a lot of space)
*6) Car Mode
- press on the icon, and phone all phone calls will be coming out of the speakers (NOT a bluetooth feature which connects to other BT devices)
7) Turtle Photoframe
- best (in my opinion) photoframe for pictures, not a lot of features or customization, but gets the job done I think
8) Unit converter (by Wopnersoft)
- really nice looking interface for a unit converter
9) Tajm
- presents the time and date in word format rather than numbers
*10) Shake - Uninstall
- enable the feature, and go into any application (does not work with widgets), then shake to uninstall the app
11) Blik Calendar Widget
- a 4x1 widget that shows your calendar schedule for about 8-10 days. Uses 1 of 500 built in pics to describe your activity for that day
*12) Home Switcher
- if you use a lot of different launchers and set 1 as a default, this will be very useful for you to toggle between the different launchers
*13) Market History Manager
- 1 click to delete the history in Market, very useful and straightforward
*14) ToDo List Widget
- easy to add, edit, and delete lists. very handle and simple to use.
Hope that list helps people! *phew* that took awhile to type it up =P
*starred ones are the ones I think are most useful.

Is this available on the Android Market?
Ghost Commander... A great Dual-pane file manager(like Norton Commander, FAR manager etc), making it very easy to copy and paste between folders in your SDcard, both panes are individually configurable and its the only file manager that i use...
Its a free download from android market
Note: if you've already used dual-pane file managers handling this is a breeze, but for first timers there is a small learning curve
Thanks ECBomb for sharing the names of those apps..will try n let u know

I was wondering if there is an app that allows you to create system settings profiles for 1 click set...
Something like:
Profile:
Office
WiFi-on
Bluetooth-off
GPS-off
Driving
WiFi-off
Bluetooth-on
GPS-on
Home
WiFi-on
Bluetooth-off
GPS-off
Etc...

This is a shot in the dark here because I've never used it, and have deleted it from my ROM, but there is a widget that comes with the stock ROM called the Profile widget.... Maybe that is what it is for?
If that's not it, there must be something in the market or perhaps elsewhere in the ROM?
I've tried the profiles widget, it just changes your sound profile...
I've checked the market, however I might not be using the right search criteria...

Ah ok, I found an app in the market called Quick Profiles... Maybe that will work for ya? Other than that, I'm not sure.
I think I remember that the Epic 4G had a similar feature, where you could turn on different modes that would auto-switch you to different homescreens that you could customize for the situation (work, home, school etc.) It's probably been retained in the latest versions of Touchwiz, as it seemed pretty cool.
I would imagine there's a widget on the market somewhere with what youre looking for. if not, you could just use extended controls so as to quickly change all your settings, since you can customized its widget to control virtually anything.

So i just found that apparently, 2.3 introduced a security feature that blocks apps and widget from turning on the GPS. i am not pleased witht his, as it makes extended controls and anti theft apps (Lookout, Seekdroid etc.) far less useful. bad move, Google. Why u remove features?
I found that the app o installed does not allow to toggle GPS, must be due to that 'feature'

I think there was a thread earlier today about this to. Im in the same boat but I use spotify. As far as I can tell theres no way to change the icons.
It's a shame that it cant be customized. I'd like to add Spotify and an app that detects speed cameras. I guess i will need to switch to the old car app that was abandoned by google.

the original car home doesn't have ICS support, has CM taken it and run with it?
I've been using Car Home Ultra for the last few days and while it works and you can add custom app shortcuts, it's really ugly. It's the equivalent of a Geocities website with blinking text and animated GIFs.
If I knew anything about creating an Android app and I had the time I could make some decent spare cash building a beautiful car app.
I found the Google one on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569027
Install both APK's works fine. Why HTC didn't allow there's to be customizable is beyond me.

Does anyone know how to make the dialer go into landscape like it does in htc car mode?
You can use Rotation Locker from the play store, Gunny. Long press the Auto option to get the home screen and dialer to rotate.

Bit of a late reply but I've only started using the car app and encountered the same problem.
The solution is to go into the music app that comes with the phone. Here you'll see a couple of music related apps like tunein radio and soundhound. Click on the options icon up the top right and select 'add shortcut'. Add all the apps you want (pandora, spotify, music players).
Now when you enter the car mode the last app you added will appear on the bottom right. You can access all the media shortcuts you added by scrolling to the right twice.
Pressing the home button from any screen will take you back into the original screen so you can alter your music even when in navigation.
Hope this helps anyone using the car mode app.
No luck with that, either. TuneIn is always there.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD. In between Force Clo...
Maybe it doesn't recognise the app your using as a music app?? I did it with playerpro and it does appear as the bottom right icon automatically.
What happens if you scroll to the right twice from the car mode homescreen.
One scroll to the right takes me to the default music player and the second scroll takes me into all the shortcuts I added using the music app.
I tested this with a random, non-music related app and it didn't appear on the car mode homescreen but did still appear as an icon when I scrolled right twice.
You should be able to swipe to the right twice off of the main Car Home screen, and that should give you all of the shortcuts that are in the HTC Music app. The bottom right icon on the main screen should then reflect the last app you used.

Yeah just to confirm, even if its not a music app it will still appear in the bottom right if that was the last of you shortcuts to be opened.
