[Request] Desire Browser - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Is it possible to get the. desire browser ported to the nexus one. Primarily I like the copy text feature and also the flash would be nice....

Why not just use the Desire roms?
The problem with porting the browser is that it relies heavily on the framework. It's undoubtedly possible if you're willing to hack enough together, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

This question has been asked probably a dozen times and the answer still remains NO. The browser requires HTC's proprietary rosie framework which cannot be ported. If you want the desire browser try Modaco or KingClick Desire ROMs.

I just wonder, why were/are here soooo many desire app requests ??? since
- one can use desire rom, or
- buy a htc desire

Well simply I don't like the sense UI... or how it looks I just like the browser the camera and the clock....

The same here. And there are more stable and effective ROMs (Cyanogen f.e.), and I need bluetooth working, because I use BT headset day by day.
If it becomes more stable, and fully working, I will use it.

[REQ] HTC Album port for Nexus One

I found that the Gallery3D loads photo extremely slow. Will anyone make a port of the HTCAlbum.apk for the nexus?
+1 to that.
I agree would the amazing to have

The same, cooliris loads waaaay to slow.
I'd be cool with that.
HTC apps can't be ported they require the sense UI to be running.
I think you will find that you can't port htc widgets, htc album is not dependent on sense, its just an app. I think it can be ported, i think its possible.

Not true. stericson managed to port HTC Music back in the cupcake/donut days.
The point is, the photo album app is not reliant on sense. Widgets like friend steam are sense reliant. I think its technically possible.

Designz,
The guy is an obvious pleb, Flaming at the first oportunity, Its people like him we dont need on these forums, spoiling the productive atmosphere.....
I had a Desire previous to a Nexus One and Evil cooked up a barebone ROM with Sense/Rosie totally removed, and the gallery works completly independent of sense.
I will have a chat with evil, as he is the guy who has the quality to do this. Its also good that we have a 2.2 sense rom to play with, so the compatibility is there The app will most probably just have to be de-odexed....
I will look into it

What rom are you running? If your running a Sense rom you will still have the required libs for the gallery to run. No matter if you removed the SenseUI launcher.
EDIT: Didn't see your last post. So you are still running a Sense rom. All you have done is remove the Rosie, all the libs are still on your phone. But please prove me wrong...
Libs can be ported no?
I remember Evil also transferring the 3D gallery to the Desire... I hope it can be done. Its beyond my ability, but to a coder it could be childs play

MT4GS HTC Sense 2.1 ROM + 3.0 features (i.e Lockscreen, weather videos, etc.)

Can I ask for an HTC Sense 2.1 rom? I really find the Sense 3.0 rosie a hassle and the carousel, though pretty cool, gets annoying when I need to quickly scroll to a certain homescreen. Also I prefer the smooth basic screen transitions of Sense 2.1 as opposed to the 3D effect transition on Sense 3.0 roms.
Actually, IMO, the best rom would be an HTC Sense 2.1 with Sense 3.0 features (lockscreen mainly) fusion. Can anyone make it happen? (aka Undeadk9)
FOR A BETTER IDEA OF WHAT I'M SAYING, here's a Tmobile G2/HTC Desire Z running an HTC 2.1 base+3.0 rom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ-kNW-nGFA
Ummm no. Sense 3.0 is so much better. No dev would do that. It's not something a large group of people would use.

You're right but I just want to make sure: Is it possible to downgrade our MT4GS's Sense 3.0 to Sense 2.1? If so, how? (I'd like to design a custom rom myself )
You would need to find a phone compatible with our device. I'm thinking the MT4G or Desire HD and port it to Doubleshot.

From my developmental tests from Sense 2.1- Sense 3.0 on the HTC HD2 and Desire HD,
I realized that it's possible to port the Sense 3.0 rosie to a Sense 2.1 rom. I'm wondering if it's possible to port the Sense 2.1 rosie to our MT4GS's Sense 3.0?

I could probably do that, but I only make ROMS I intend on using, I'm pretty busy with school and work, but If I have a free weekend I might give it a try. However I don't think it would be worth it, a lot of features would be cut, since I wouldn't spend time optimizing it for the MT4GS, just the basic 2.1 ROM.

Thanks dude, I appreciate it alot man. And I know what you mean about busy. 5 AP classes + a job leaves very little free time, let alone the fact that you have other stuff to do. But if you could get the basic Sense 2.1 rosie and perhaps provide me tips on how to implement the widgets (especially the clock widget, it's basically the trademark of Sense haha), that would be all I'd need.
Also, couldn't you literally just replace the Rosie from a MyTouch4g/DesireHD sense 2.1 rom, as well as the other htc widgets as Seo did to bring a Sense 3.0 port to Sense 2.1 roms?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062962
The reason I want this is simply because I hate the carousel of Sense 3.0 (it still lags occasionally), but love the widgets.
I simply don't like the features of LPP or ADW because, in those launchers I can't use Sense widgets...

You're right I haven't tried it yet. I'll give it a shot sometime later. Too lazy to s-off and sort it out. I just hate the 3d flip animation, I like the smooth screen transitions that were on the older Sense rosies.
I'm still contemplating whether I want this phone or return and exchange for a Sensation. Of course either way, it's Sense 3.0 carousel.

KEEP IT. The Sensation is a piece of crap, I worked for T-Mobile and we have returns on them more than anything. They overheat, the touchscreen is highly unresponsive, and the screens look mediocre... Even after installing custom ROMs they still have issues.

Yea, but there's so many devs for the Sensation, I wish our MT4GS had more...
Oh and btw, those devs just ported over the HTC Amaze 4G's (aka MT4GS's) camera to their Sensations. WOOW is all I can say.
Plus, with the second coming of smartphones in the HTC Amaze and SGSII, there'll be even less reason for future devs to work on this phone.
Gotta admit though that I like the hardware keyboard as an additional option for typing. It may be crappy compared to the G2, but I've never used a slider-phone before.
And, I hate the designs of the Amaze and GSII, they're even more curvy than the MT4GS and Sensation, lol.
Sorry...to get back on topic, Undeadk9, would it be much simpler to port the Sense 2.1 rosie over onto a Sense 3.0 rom? Rather than modding an entire rom? And is it as easy as I think it is?

I agree. Keep the phone. Plus this cpu is meant to clock at 1.5ghz. The sensations is right where its suppose to be. Plus this device has a way better processor. And the keyboard is a huge plus.

In another phone, you can just trick Rosie into thinking it's running on a Sense 2.1 device and it will run in 2.1 mode. However, I don't think it's possible with the native MT4GS Rosie since it's specifically compiled for us/TMO. I could be wrong though, worth decompiling it and taking a look at it.
I wouldn't run Sense 2.1 though. That's boring.
Or maybe you could exchange it for a desire hd or mytouch 4g since you're looking for older software. there's not going to be a whole lot of demand for older software on a newer device unfortunately.

That's exactly what I don't want, as you can see the MT4GS is SUPERIOR to those devices. But I really prefer the simplicity of the old sense, and combined with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, it would be 1000000x faster + no lag. Why would I want to go back to the "Stone Age" so to speak?
Really and truly it's the carousel that bothers me, if I didn't have to deal with the carousel on Sense 3, it would be just fine.
And let's just put it this way: Sense 2.1 is exactly what Sense 3.0 is WITHOUT the carousel. So for those of you who don't prefer the carousel, this is what you want. Of course there's the lockscreen, but I'm talking purely on the basis of the rosies.
Sorry for the double post, my previous one was loaded.
I'll just say that Ima try and put one together myself.
I also posted a video on what I mean by Sense 2.1+3.0. (Check first post)
I also posted a poll to gather the opinion of users in this forum.
If there are too many No's, then I will stop this thread from further discussion.
So you just want the sense 2.1 interface but with sense 3.0 basically. Why don't you try a new launcher?

[Q] MIUI vs Sense 3.5?

What you think is better and more stable? I was using Sense 3.5 but yesterday i install the MIUI one and it look so cool! but i see in DS forum that most of users use the Sense one.
Must .. resist .. temptation .. to .. troll .. >_<
Sense 3.5 all the way.
This should be posted on the Q&A section.
Mods please move this thread.
My answer: i dont know, im not using either of it.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
There are about 5 different Sense 3.5 ROMS each of which provide a different level of experience.
MOD: move thread.
It's apples and oranges, Sense (in general, not just 3.5) allows customization, useful widgets, a beautiful homescreen and some great apps. Lockscreen is great too.
Miui is more about speed and performance, and a LOT of theming, you can customize the hell out of it, it's much faster than sense.
Matter of choice.
Sense 3.5 UI is indeed great, but I personally think it also puts unnecessary burden on battery. Many services in sense rom keeps on running even if you close them.
On miui if closed once they are down for good(almost)

I am going to try MIUI today.
the only thing i miss in sense roms is the INTERNET PASS-THROUGH feature(allows phone to use PC internet via usb)
still wonder why Miui has not been able to add this feature
Miui and sense 3.5 are both very nice in their own different ways.
If I use miui though, i greatly miss the functionality of sense 3.x.
So I use Sense, and miui just for fun to test

I love Sense, it's fast and stable on my phone. MIUI looks great too, but I've read it's not stable at all yet.
Endymion ROM (with Sense 3.5) is so far the best one I've tried.
Dense has more features than MIUI IMHO

Miuiiiiiiiiiiiii!
I just flashed MIUI last night, previously only knew Sense 3.0 and more recently the 3.5 version. I love the speed and layout of MIUI - BUT, and this is a major but... the email implementation is not up to par with how I like to use my android phone. Since this is the only issue I've run into so far, below is a list of what I personally thought could be done better.
MIUI Email Pitfalls:
- "Corporate" email, sucks because the only option is the super secure version that would be nice for corporations who own the phone - but lets get real, what percentage of MIUI users fall into this category (0% maybe)? The Exchange email implementation should be like the Sense version in that you don't have to give up access to your phone and abide by "Exchange" rules governing your entire phone experience IMHO.
- Ability to quickly change email filters, e.g. unread, flagged, attachments, etc - loved this ability in Sense and really miss it so far.
There's my relatively short list. I'm sure there are mods that can alleviate these pitfalls, but hey this is just day two. =)

Personally apart from the camera I like everything about AOSP ROM's both AOKP and CM10
Of course AOSP ROM's are faster than Sense

i like sense but i don't use sense launcher. it's about other stuff (dialer, camera, menues...)
Originally I bought a HTC phone purely for sense, now I prefer aosp/aokp
Personally I prefer Sense, and even more its final version, Sense 4. I prefer it over other launchers like Touchwiz (to me it seems made for children compared to Sense).
Well, I'm a fan of both. Sense overs a lot of polish over Android, and great widgets too. Now, since JB, I prefer AOKP, since it's already so polished. The widgets can be replaced with APW/HD Widgets too. Although, I'm using Andromadus till AOKP from source comes up
For now sense. AOKP AOSP CM9 CM10 is not my priority as my daily driver.
AOSP all the way for me
My 1st mobile was htc hero - 1st phone with HTC sense. I lovded it and I couldn't understand how can u like more aosp or cm roms. Yeah I agree they are faster but they look ugly. I had ZTE blade with cm, then Motorola atrix with cm aswell and eventually I have sold atrix and bought desire s and that was the best thing I have done.

100% sure. You get a little icon in the message itself, but also in the notification area. Sure you can disable notification sounds, but its treated as a SMS so unless all SMS sounds are set to silent, no bar notification and no vibrate, its like getting another SMS! Weird
What is odd, on a friends sensation with same 3.6 rom we now have, he only gets confirmation in SMS app
I loved Sense, mainly because the desire S was my first smartphone, so it was kinda 'normal'.
But since I have the Jelly Bean AOSP, I really don't want to go back to sense.
About widgets, FB-contacts, ... I don't care. I use my phone for work, so the important things are calling, e-mail and tap-log.
If people on FB need me, they have to wait till I get home, a PC types better and faster anyway.

Sense with vanilla flair

Hi,
I have a little question.
Sense is not really bad, but there are two major things that looks really better in vanilla Android (or CM10 that I'm using) than in Sense.
The lockscreen in Sense is not my favourite and really ugly is the call screen (the original vanilla Android is really beautiful).
So my question, is there a way, just to replace those 2 features? Because stock Android with sense worked much better on my OneS.

If you look in system/app/ you'll find HtcLockScreen.apk, remove this file as root and you will revert to the vanilla android stock screen (I have personally done this on 1.7.1 Stock rooted mod), perhaps a similar technique will work with the call screen (try at your own risk)
Also troby86 when I tried installing your United Vanilla Rom I was unable to get the FM radio to start, since I'm new I can't post about ti in the development thread...
