Issue with Whiskeybro's SRS WOW HD on my i920 Omnia - General Questions and Answers

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased the i920 from Verizon and I love the phone so far. I have only had one issue with third party applications so far, involving Whiskeybro's SRS WOW HD for Omnia II application.
forum [dot] xda-developers [dot] com/showthread.php?t=629382
I was under the impression that only the standard media player could take advantage of the installed SRS and that a third party version should be used for third party players. Upon installing whiskeybro's app, I found that the standard player would initiate a device.exe error report. His app apparently does not support the CDMA i920, but only the GSM i8000. A report would be generated when starting the player, attempting to access the sound settings within the player, changing a sound profile or loading WOW HD and closing the player. The song being played when loading or changing the sound profile would skip much like a compact disc for about 5 seconds while the profile was loaded, then an eror report would be generated.
I don't know what my options are for restoring the standard player to its original state. I would prefer not to hard reset and lose all my apps. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and found a resolution? Anyone have any ideas what might be causing the problem with device.exe?
Any help here is really appreciated.

This has gotten unbearably more frustrating...
There is a serious issue with the mobile development scene, primarily with documenting intended operating systems and specifications. I have scoured dozens of versions of srs wow hd for "omnia 2" and so far have not been able to find a resolution to my problem. In many cases there is no way to tell what operating system and device developers apps are intended for!
The SRS WOW HD was causing so many problems that I uninstalled it. The phone later crashed for unknown reasons and when I rebooted there was no sound at all. WMP wouldn't play music, I couldn't hear voices from incoming calls and they couldn't hear me, no ringtones, etc. I decided to do more research and reinstall another SRS WOW HD cab. After soft reset I again had sound but the entire phone was so labored that I couldn't reasonably use it for anything. I noticed that device.exe was using 99% ram for around 10 minutes straight after startup. Since device.exe handles the .dll files used on the device I checked the registry values for the WOW HD settings. They were as follows...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev
Dll = WOWHD_ARM_WCE_PPC2005_Driver.dll
IClass = {A32942B7-920C-486b-B0E6-92A702A99B35}
OldDriver = wavedev.dll
Prefix = WAV
R2VS Driver Version = 3.1.11n (2009.06.26)
R2VS Target Model = GT-i8000(Qubic37)
This is after the installation of whiskeybro's cab file.
forum. xda-developers .com/showthread.php?t=629382
There are some obvious problems here, though I don't know which are causing issues. First, why is the program using a .dll file from windows mobile 2005 when apparently versions from 6.1 and possibly 6.5 exist? wavedev.dll should be correct unless the cab file is somehow corrupting the original wavedev.dll when it installs. I installed r2vs to see if I could use the wm6.1 .dll file it uses but had no luck. I uninstalled both managers and reinstalled SRS WOW HD but have the same problems as before. Im not sure if the two strings in the registry are leftovers from the uninstall? In any case, it appears that it was trying to install the software for use on an i8000, not an i920.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this damn problem? I currently have to deal with no sound, including no call functionality, or burn up half my battery every time I restart my phone while device.exe sits there and thinks. Does anyone know where I can get the newer version of the wowhd .dll file for wm6.1 or wm6.5? Is there some way to fix the installation I have? Do you need more info?
Hopefully someone has an idea that will help. I'm currently using a very unreliable phone!

Blueplayer could = better A2DP sound

If anyone here has tried to use an i.tech stereo headset (like the R35 or S35) or other A2DP headset and has been dissapointed with the sound quality (commonly referred to as a "ringing" distortion or hissing over the sound) using the A2DP for tornado hack, its because the MS Bluetooth Stack isn't 100% compatible with all (most) headsets. Its particularly noticeable on i.tech, but the reduced quality is true on many others as well.
In case you didn't know, Blueplayer is a standalone app that streams music to A2DP headphones even if the phone doesn't support A2DP in its own stack! That means any phone with bluetooth (some even claim older 1.1 devices as well) can bypass the usual MS stack in our devices and stream stereo sound directly to a compatible headset!
The software was written for Nokia S60 devices initially, but there have been Pocket PC and java versions (only compatible with specific phones) released since then as well.
I'm very annoyed by the sound quality of my itech R35 paired with my imate SP5. I'm 100% sure that software such as blueplayer would solve this problem. However, the PPC and java versions don't seem to work on my device.
Can anyone help me figure out how to make this work? I tried extracting the files from the PPC cab file, but its complaining about missing libraries. The install may add some things to the registry that I'm missing.
Better yet, does anyone have anything like this for WM Smartphone?
what are you missing? I got blueplayer running with my S35 and the quality is excellent and range good(for me)...
Unfortunately I am using a Wizard...
I wish I could get it working!
I can't figure out what it is, but I'm having trouble.
Normally I can make any app work (even if its for PPC) by pulling the files off of a PPC installation, and run the .exe on my smartphone and it just works.
But I keep get errors about libraries not existing or being in the wrong place. I need to figure out exactly what happens when the app is installed- what files go where, any registry changes, etc... There's gotta be a way to make it work on smartphone!
From memory,
There are a few files and registry settings that I can remember but barely, but if you want I can try to install it again. I removed it because I don't use MP3s anymore..
Yeah, if you don't mind helping me out, that'd be amazing (also for the smartphone community as a whole).
Why don't u use mp3's anymore?
I can just look up the settings for you, you got to do the work ;-)...
I find them too large for my 1Gb MiniSD, using AAC+ now... nice quality and file size.
Just PM me what you want to know...
Well, I don't know what kind of entries this will place in the registry. To be honest, I'm not sure how to check myself either. Is there a way to tell EXACTLY what a .cab does?
Found it!
Interesting program for those in my situation:
http://thinkabdul.com/2006/12/20/ms...nformation-from-windows-mobile-cab-xml-files/
lets you see exactly what steps a cab installation goes through. Any reg. items, what the actual filenames are, what directories they are placed in, etc...
Amazing little tool.
However, I still haven't gotten blueplayer to work on my sp5... I wonder why?
thanks for the link, I needed something like that as well, going to compare the differences in the Widcomm bluetooth hacks...
BTW, how do you get blueplayer to work on a smartphone anyway without the touch screen?
Oh, simulating a touchscreen is easy... most apps let you navigate using the joystick, but it gets annoying and sometimes a touch is needed to click (for example an ok button).
There's a great little app call SPhelper that places a mouse pointer on your screen that can be navigated using the directional joystick, and "clicked" like a screen tap.
Its pretty cool.
Anyway, the problem is that I can't get Blueplayer to operate, even with all the .dll files in the right places. It says its missing something.

Here's all I know:
I poked around in the .cab installation and found that there are 4 .dll's that go in the \windows dir (msibtstk.dll, msibtapi.dll, CHS.dll and TW.dll), and two .exe program files that go in program files\msi\blueplayer (STLoader.exe, and MPOBCE.exe). AFAIK, there don't seem to be any registry entries that it inserts.
Now, I've done this with PPC apps before, normally all I have to do is run the .exe after all files are in place, and it will work (obviously with some minor annoyances due to missing the touch screen).
However, every time I hit MPOBCE.exe, all I get is:
"Alert
Can't find MPOBCE or one of its components. Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraries are available."
There's gotta be something I'm overlooking... Anyone?
No man, there are some(I found some) entries, but I thought you were set and removed them already..
will reinstall and get back to you again...
BTW do you do a full backup of your phone? I use SPB backup and it is good..
oh, cool, I couldn't find any... let me know!
entries but not sure if working...
Here are the two registry inputs(rename to *.txt) I found on my system.. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work this time as I am using Widcomm bluetooth stack... wonder why.... Last time I used this was with MS Stack on...

No, that makes sense. The Nokia one is designed to operated by tunnelling through the s60 stack, and the WinCE version was most likely designed assuming the MS one.
No go... I entered all this stuff exactly like you said, and I get the same errors.
Interesting to note is the drivers reg keys already existed!
It appears that the other exe (stloader.exe) did run and I think entered those keys. The actual program tho, seems to not run (and therefore never entered the proper keys, I'm guessing).
Sorry man.. to get your hopes up..
Right now, I got Axim Widcomm Stack running on my Wizard, but still get the memory issue after a long time powering off bluetooth.
oh well, back to waiting and testing new stacks..
Hey, I've got another idea if you wouldn't mind helping me some more...
Could you try to manually install it the way I've been doing on your pocket PC device?
The reason I ask is because it will determine if there's some sort of PPC-specific code (which I don't think I've ever encountered or even heard of before).
I attached the files and directory structure that I extracted from the cab. If you could, please try uninstalling BluePlayer and tell me if you can get this to run by manually copying the files here.
If it doesn't work for you either, than its because my method is flawed and I'm missing something here... and I shouldn't give up yet!
ok, I will give it a go, but most probably I can only go as far as getting the program to run... Feel comfortable with the widcomm stack, don't feel like disabling it..
just give me a few hours.. my stupid SD USB card reader not working properly... got to look for my cable.. damn!!
good news is, the program starts with the exceptions
1)at first start after putting the files in place, the program starts a few times with the L2Cap error...
2)After a few failed restarts, followed by a softreset, the registry settings in drivers(L2Cap..) are in place and the program runs without error.
3)Now it's up to you to test it with MS stack bluetooth on, as I cannot confirmed this for you.. good luck buddy...

Faraday (Cingular 2125) crashes running TCPMP

Hi,
I like my Faraday (Cingular 2125) vs. my old Audiovox 5600 (C500 I think is also known as) because of its screen brightness, newer OS, and also I can copy files over to it using wm5torage without having to remove the minisd card; however, it crashes on me a lot when running TCPMP to view avi files, these are the same files I use with the 5600 using the same version of TCPMP (version 0.72RC1). I'm kind of discouraged and was wondering if anyone else have the same problem. what happens is I can watch for say 10 minutes then the smartphone version of the windows hourglass (you know that round circle signaling it's busy) would come up and i can't watch anymore, the phone doesn't actually crash but I just can't use TCPMP anymore. I can turn the phone off but turning it back on requires a battery removal.
I've already tried using an older version of TCPMP (0.71) and that didn't solve it either.
i don't believe there's any rom update for this phone (but if there's one please point me to it).
anyway, please give me any advice that you may have. man, i like this phone but i just can't stand it much longer.
thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if it'd help: did you try playing with the video settings?
yes I did
yes I played around with numerous video settings but no luck. thanks though! i think i may go back to my good old SmT5600
had the same problem on my tmobile sda but i never got to fix this problem because i lost it days later but found a SMT5600 a week later and i dont have this problem on it not even now that i have it upgraded to WM6
i switched back
yeah, i just switched back to my 5600. the one main reason i wanted to try a 2125 was because it could run the utility WM5TORAGE that treats its storage card like a USB mass storage device, hence copying files to it was fast. however, i just found out today that when using activeSync to copy files to my 5600, there's a setting in activesync to tell it not to convert to the mobile device format which helped speed up the copying quite a bit so I'm pretty content to be with my 5600 again.
I upgraded to WM6 once with my 5600 also, but the number of features felt quite overwhelming plus it seemed a little slower. does it feel like that to you?
can you point me to the wm6 rom that you used? i may try it out if it's different than the one i had used.
thanks.
for me it feels like it has a good speed not normal but good enough to do things and not get made for the slowness and for the rom i used the one in the link on my signature (Audiovox SMT 5600 (HTC Typhoon) with WM6 < check it out) it may be missing things and may have bugs but for now it is mostly stable
Ill wait for some one to make a better rom

setting device to load on startup

So I've installed the older version of the camera drivers in order to fix a camera issue I'm getting with the 7201 CPU. Right now, I need to manually go into the task manager -> Devices -> start CIF1.DLL every time my phone is restarted, otherwise the camera won't initialize.
Short of cooking the old camera version into the rom, is there a way I can get the camera to load automatically?
did you install this using a cab? what camera cab did you use? did you just flash a new rom? if so, might be your radio

radio can't be issue because camera does work; he doesn't want to manually load the file for the camera every time he restarts his kaiser.
I never had this issue of having to start the camera manually. On xda live 3.0 the camera application is taken out but installation via cab makes it work without problem ...
search for "kyphur xda live 3.0"; that should bring up the thread for that rom. In the thread download the file that kyphur has on his 4shared account which includes things he removed from rom. In that zip file there are two different files for camera.
Try that and see what results you yield.
Can't you just put CIF1.DLL in to Windows/startup folder?
Thanks for the replies. I realized I should have been a bit clearer.
Ok, so I went back and looked at what I was loading and the file is called SJ CIF_314.CAB It's not the camera, but a device or driver that the camera uses. If I install this cab, but don't manually load it in the taskmanager, the camera won't initialize.
I'm loading this cab to address an issue my camera has when recording video (has to do with the 7201 CPU). You can read the details of this solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387057
Basically, because of my CPU, any of the roms cooked with the TYTNII PhotoQuality.cab fix seems to cause recording problems on my video camera. So to fix this, i need to install the SJ CIF_314.CAB.
So there is no issue with the camera after this device driver is loaded. But I need to load it manually each time my phone is reset.
When I go into task manager to find the device in the devices list, it is listed as $device\CIF1(CIF1 and it is unloaded. I just have to highlight and start it to get my camera working each time. In the registry it is linked to the file CIF.DLL
I'm basically asking if there is a way to get this device to load automatically like most of the other devices in the devices list. Like maybe changing or adding something in the registry?
so anyone know how to do this?
anyone have a resolution for this? I want to see this resolved as well heh
i have the same problem - anyone figured out how to fix this so the driver loads automatically on startup?
what i find strange is (i dont mean anything mean by this) it seems like Junior members are the only one with this issue. these days cooking a rom is simple with the kitchens out there i would just cook the drivers in and be done with it. also seems like that .cab might be messed up a little if its not over writting the "newer" driver no?
also all the wm6.1 roms have camera fix built in before the cooks touch it so its not like we are doing this on purpose sorry
yes it certainly looks suspicious that this happens only to junior members.
but, i had this problem after i loaded dutty's wm 6.1 rom, messed around for a day looking for the best radio rom (had issues like carrier signal dropping and coming back every 5 seconds, black screen camera and video camera).
i am not yet at the stage that i want to cook my own rom, so this issue is not a result of a junior member's rom, but rather playing with other roms which seem to be highly recognized in this community, and other strange behavior (ie locking up the device - found a fix for that today as well).
having said all that, do you know how to override boot settings so a driver is automatically started after every reset?

TCPMP does not work...

Hey guys,
So I finally got this outstanding TNT running and I'm getting to know it a little more everyday!
Now here's my little dilemma; I don't like WMP, never have. So on my TNT 19199 rom TCPMP was great. But on this TNT Pro (19213), it just isn't working! I downloaded the latest TCPMP that came in the fun pack, I tried the FLV patch, tried selecting all file associations on the program, even did the registry edit! Still, nothing.... IE runs wmp for vids or audios. I want TCPMP.
Is there anyway to deactivate WMP if all else fails???
Phil
P.s. - I little bit off subect here, but what is the best setting for the Pocketsnes? It runs real slow and for some reason, the buttons are never right! I like to play in landscape with the keypad.
Also, the connection between some bluetooth devices and my pda is a bit screwy. Is there some sort of patch to perfect the connection, make it more clear?
Last thing, what does A2DP do? Is that what I should use for my BT problem? And how do we set up the SDAutorun? I much appreciate that programs run off my SD card rather than clutter the pda's main memory...
By the way...
By the way guys,
I'd like to know how to release the ie touch. I don't know how to explain it, to be able to move the screen around like on opera or on the ie touchflo.... I don't want to install touchflo, just have that option on ie. I think there was a registry edit for that, although I can't remember where...
Also, I just saw a vid on youtube about the google android software on his wizard. The guy was running his wizard at 312mhz! Is that ever possible???
Phil
...?
Uhhmmmm,
Anyone?
Whats up Men! or Girl?
So I dont know... jeje sorry.
here I go...
1.- TNT 19213 has too much issues like HTC audiomanager in htc home doesnt works, no IR beam file for push it like obex, no HTC cube contacts face, this little issues makes me unhappy so i started to search fixes, NO FIXES instead!.
2.- The TCPMP is a great app, in this version from fun pack .81 RC if the flv option doesnt exist, instal the two files that are atached to this post uncompress the 2 FLV files and copy them to: storage... or root ...progam files/tcpmp/ folder that has every codec, if there is the square on file association check it! and exit the program by FIle menu... exit. and turn off the device and so... soft reset, it will function at all.
3.- It doesnt seems to be a fix for change the wmp to tcpmp plug in PIE but if you wish try the original app from streaming media cab in cabs for tnt roms forum right here on this thread.
4.- Because our poor speed processor the emulating is awfull! really awfull! none can turn landscreen on emulators, this 320 mhz omap processor maybe a 8525 device wizard like but it isnt wizard is a HERMES it has much PUNCH! i can retrieve you a most functional emulator but slow cause our processor its attached too.
5.- A2DP is stereo sound via bluetooth headset it came since aku 2 in WM5 is old but good, the issues for bluetooth that you are experimenting are normal because the new platfrm WM6.1 and ftp app.... and celphones with obex file tranfer, and other PPCs with other operative systems, this sucks but its truth.
6.- The sd autorun works simply but some programs wont be installed on your sd card, so if you don want this, its better that you can obtein cabs with options to install the program on SD or Main memory. thats cause the cab construction not for the UC capable Roms with SD autorun.
7.- For PIE touchy jeje you cant turn it touchy its better te Netfront 3.3 free version or 3.5 beta trial version. the 3.5 trial beta version has touchy settings its nice but beta trial, just change your date and enjoy for ever!
I hope to be usefull for you attending your PM, see you soon.. Men or GIRL?
I will try pda viet 19213 right here it seems to be great! jeje
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=403425
Oh it hasn't splash screens!
Watch it, all 3 splash screens can be mod! amazing this is some thing i did.
the pda viet roms dont has splash screens just the last one but is awfull jeje try this.
what an enthusiasm, wow.
have fun..
btw...
just try fockin OLD 0.81 tcpmp + whole set of 'good' plugins.

Coreplayer 1.2.5: Help me out with settings

Coreplayer used to work pretty well for me on my Vogue, but lately the video has become so choppy that it's unwatchable. It doesn't seem to matter much what video or resolution I'm watching. I have no idea what changed and I'm looking for some tips on what to look at. Currently I use RawFrameBuffer and pretty much everything else is, I think, the default.
The interesting thing (to me at least) is that the video is very smooth as long as I select Benchmark from the Tools menu. No dropped frames at all.
Anyone have a clue what I should try adjusting?
If it changed all of a sudden maybe it's a device issue. are you running any new services or apps?
I wish it were that simple. If anything I'm running fewer. I have fewer things going on now with my device than probably since I first bought it 14 months ago.
So what you're saying is (just so i can understand) that you had the Vogue and everything went well with CorePlayer. And now, after 14 months of use, with few programs running, it's slower for no apparent reason?
Did you perform a hard reset/flash a rom since you first got it?
Not exactly. I'm saying that something obviously changed, but I'm not sure what or when. I do remember that it behaved something like this when I first installed it 14 months ago, but I changed some settings and it worked better. But I've forgotten what those settings were, so I guess I'm asking for people's views on optimization.
As for hard resets, yes, I've had several, but always been able to restore from backup not more than two weeks old.
when you restored from the backup.. did you also restore the same CorePlayer installation? i'm trying to figure out if it's a HW problem or with CorePlayer
I believed I restored the coreplayer files and settings just about every time I've needed to do a restore. Coreplayer is on a storage card, and I've found that every so often WinMo corrupts the file system on the card, so I back up all of the Program Files folder there, as well as everthing in flash. Personally I think it's a software problem, or Coreplayer wouldn't be playing the moving fine in Benchmark mode.
Why wouldnt you just delete and reinstall coreplayer? Reseting all settings?

Because I'm old and my memory is gone. Altzheimer's is creeping up on me. I do not remember what settings I changed or how to get good performance all those months ago, therefore reinstalling is not likely to have any positive effect. I already know that the default settings (for which there is a button to press in any case) will give me unfortunate performance.
Coreplayer 1.2.5 help playing wmv files from BBC Iplayer
Hi
Can you help with this think it's to with file associations .... am downloading wmv files (for portable devices) direct to my memory card from the BBC Iplayer (wmv) they play fine in WMP but when I try to play the same file in Coreplayer it won't play (pink screen with a circular thing in the middle).
Is this something to with the Media Usage rights for the files or a setting I should remember to tweak during the download or in Coreplayer itself?
Why not just download the latest version 1.3 from their site? Might perform better...
