Hi ppl
I installed the youtube app from the yt.com website on my HD2 because I thought it would be better than the default app that comes with the HD2. Unfortunately it's crap. I can't uninstall the new youtube app, it just replaced the one the comes with the phone.
How can I get my standard good working app back?
did u try to re-install it from windows marketplace?
There is one cab floating around here, cant remember where though.
Actually,try this....

I've bought the new SE Xperia X10 and noticed that there is a pre-installed program supernytt which is Sweden's Aftonbladet newspaper. I don't want it because I live in Norway and don't have any use of Swedish news. If I want some, I go surfing the net. How do I get rid of it? I've tried several uninstallers from android market, even those who claim to uninstall pre-installed apps like this one. Please help me, I didn't pay €600 for this

If it is installed as system app (I guess so) you will need root to get rid off it.
Try installing home++ beta from the app store. It's a home replacement that I like because it is not very different from the main homescreen. Anyway, using it, put the app you want deleted on the homescreen, then long-press it and drag it down to the trash can. Without letting go, hold it over the trashcan icon until it says "drop to uninstall" or something like that. Then drop and see if it uninstalls. Not sure if this will work, but give it s try. Home++ is free from the Android Market.

SE stated in an email that; If you have "Supernytt" installed, the phone is either bought in Sweden or imported from Sweden. The Norwegian shall NOT have this app. pre-innstalled. That is the only difference between the two versions as well.
Hi.
I have been searching the forums and the web all day for this, so please don't kill me if I've missed another tread about this!
I love my Galaxy Tab, but i hate the youtube app that comes with it. Even in "HQ" the videos are really blurry.
I have found several sites talking about YoutubeHD.apk and downloaded it from 3 different locations. Tried to install it via Astro, but I always get "did not install".
Have anyone managed to get this to work on the Galaxy tab?
Thank you in advance.
Try this, I haven't tried it.
Back up the Youtube.apk in System/Apps. Rename your new apk to Youtube.apk and copy it in to system/apps. Reboot.
If it doesn't work copy the original Youtube.apk back into its original location (system/apps)... then ask someone who knows more than me.
Thanks for the tips, but I only get "insufficient permission" when I try to move/change the name of the original file with Astro.
Any way to avoid this?
Files probably read only.
Do you even have root access?

did you go into applications and check the one to allow non trusted apps. it blocks any install that aren't from the market unless you check that box. I'm guessing you did but I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss something small and bang your head for too long.
Indeed, you will need root access and a root file explorer. I use 'Root Explorer'. Before doing this, go to Settings > Applications > Check 'Unknown Sources' box.
If you aren't rooted / do not want to root, post a link to the .apk and I will try it for you.
Not sure if the videos are in HD or not, but I use an app called TubeMate.
Go to the Android Market, and search for TubeMate. It allows for viewing and archiving of any YouTube videos in the same browser.
All the videos I've watched and archived using this app has been of great quality, not blurry at all.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I have root access, and have tried renaming the file in Root explorer(get a "read only" message).
I have also checked the "allow non trusted apps" box.
Heres the link to the APK:
mediafire.com/file/zzz1ktzy2nl/YouTubeHD.apk
If anyone with a little more knowledge about Android could try this it would be great.
I wish I could help ya but I haven't experienced this problem....all the HQ videos from you tube look great on my tab?
Ins0: Look at the pictures in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7120200&postcount=2
Is your youtube app really as crisp as the tubedroid video there?
Try to download a HD version of a file, and then stream the same file. You will see a HUGE difference.
In almost all the forum posts I have found around people mix HQ with HD(and they are happy with HQ), maybe I'm just to much of a perfectionist...
There is a new Youtube app on the Android market.
I have updated, and it is actually a little better, but still not even close to the quality I get when downloading the same file in HD from jetVD.
Have anyone else tried the HD apk i linked to?

I think jet vd is the best and you can even download youtube on tab

JetVD is great, but as far as I know it's not possible to sign in to your own youtube account? I use youtube mostly because of my subscriptions. Still nobody tried the APK i linked to earlier?

If you use youtube mobile in your stock browser you will get perfect and smooth 720p quality.
Quick question about apps like Music Box Pro and applanet etc etc
Wondering if there was an app or way to see if an app is experiencing server issues via cell phone.
My friends love the Music Box pro app and its obviously been having some issues lately which is understood, they arent exactly the music industries favorite app.
Btw i did search to see if there were threads on this.
Rather than scrambling to find an update or revert to an older version to see if the version im running is the problem,it would be nice if there were some sort of app to check server status etc etc of some of my favorite NON market apps.Of course applanet has a site where it supposedly shows if the server is live or not,but i dont really use that app.
And if anyone has any info about this app or knows the dev,a status update would be cool.

So, years ago, I downloaded a music app that I really like. Got a new phone recently, and want to install the app, but I can't figure out what app it is, or where to find it. I thought I would extract the app from the old phone, but could not find it as one of the apps when trying to use Astro File Manager to do it. Here are some pics, maybe it will help someone ID the app.

This is the app you want? Judging by the lack of an Uninstall button and also having two LG phones myself, I hate to inform you that this is the stock LG music app. You won't be able to install it on another device.

That might explain it. It worked perfectly for me. I guess its on to better and brighter things. Thanks.
I'm remember that on my previous phone (LG) I had such player.
Indeed it seems to be an LG app.
What are you guys using to block ads in the YouTube app? I used to use an xposed module. Not sure if that will still work or if there's another method these days. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Just install the app called YouTube Vanced from their website. It will just skip right over the ads like they're not even there. You'll need to install that plus MicroG in order to be able to login.. IF you use and have Google Chrome browser running you need to force stop it and disable it until you're done signing in otherwise the sign in will just sit there and not work.. You can enable it again after it's installed and you're logged in to.. Choose one of the NON ROOT versions and install both YouTube Vanced and MicroG found here. https://www.mediafire.com/folder/773e97cz2ezx1/AddFree_Youtube_BackgroundPlay_Enabled
They released a manager (check their website) so you can check for updates and install the app and requirements easily.
I'm using 14.99 a month lol

When you use either samsung internet or beta ver., in their bucket under app settings they call ad-ons, there is an ad-block app selection called ad-block for YouTube(you'll see it in the drop-down menu), and that's probably the same one the other gentleman already responded to you with?
It's by-far, the best one I've ever test drove, as I'm not a great fan of those!
lol I remember when you tube did not have any adds, then it was short ads every few videos, then it was ads at the beginning and end of video now there are more ads than videos. I would love to strip all the ads out of you tube, but don't want any malware installed on my phone.... lol

Interesting

I use utube less and less now especially for movies. Give Google time and they will screw up the their best apps.
Remember how good gmail -was- over a decade ago?
Liberals think everything needs fixed and proceed to do so until broke:silly:

My advice would be plain and simple.
Use Samsung Internet Browser.
I know it's not perfect, but for me not bad at all.
I'm sure it's a good alternative.?
I really got so fed up with YouTube ads that i looked for a good straight forward alternative...
(I also did not want to use YouTube Vance etc..)
Saw remarks about Samsung internet browser,
started using it,
Very surprised, it was fast smooth etc.
With Samsung offering , free to install, add ons, to the browser....
AdBlockers and also a free to install, YouTube AdBlocker,
See screenshot.
i must admit i have not seen one advert, when browsing YouTube.
Note
I'm logged into YouTube with my Google account.
So my advice is to use Samsung Internet Browser
to browse YouTube until you get a better option.?
Good luck.

This and notifications making me stick with Android ..
Cercube is available on iOS too . IN jb you can install tweak in even latest version of youtube app.
The beauty of vanced if you turn your screen times off
YouTube will continue to play
Perfect for me as I do a lot of driving...
Just tried it with Samsung browser screen times out youtube stops playing
Something for you to maybe think about?
I use YouTube Premium to block all ads while still supporting my favorite creators.
Vote for Vanced. The latest version has an option to remove (+) button even. It allows to hide all these distracting tiles, gifs, stories etc, leaving the pure video clips only.
I'm a long time Adguard user, no adds in apps, browser, nowhere
