I installed the Nexus One lockscreen, but it's not coming out right? Instead of the icons (Lock & Sound) being on the sides, they're are on the top and bottom?

It shows..its ok. Unload some of that over Easter weekend.
BTW As far as Lockscreen is concerned. I just removed HTCLockScreen.apk and rebooted. and had what I think is the Nexus Lockscreen. Only thing I am not able to achieve is the Dialer which is in Nexus ROM.
I never used a update.zip file I used ADB and these commands
adb remount
adb shell
su (<you dont need to do this if you have Root access already)
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
rm system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
reboot

When you type "rm /system/blah blah blah" you have to make sure everything is capitalized like it is on your rom, check the files in a file manager to see how its spelt and capitalized.
I just copy and pasted what I did that worked for me, this won't work for any of the newer 2.1 roms for some reason even tho it worked just fine for Damageless2.1 and a couple of others but the new ones based off of Sprint leaks are screwing up the lock image and so far noone has a fix
i installed lockbot and im always skeptical of 3rd party lockscreens but this one amost gets the job done..just no music audio control with screen off and some lag
Quote from Fresh 2.0d release notes
The stock vanilla lock screen is still broken. This is straight from HTC and is how it is

That update.zip that you linked to has 0 files in it. All it does is:
Code:
delete SYSTEM:app/HtcLockScreen.apk
delete SYSTEM:app/HtcLockScreen.odex
Once you do that the vanilla lock screen takes over. The vanilla lockscreen on all of our Sprint leaks has been broken. It is part of the frameworks and is not a separate apk.

I was just wondering if I could put Koushik's klaxon alarm clock app over the alarmclock app built into the phone?
If I could, would a simple adb push do the job?
<-- Linux Noob.
why not just use both? You can delete the alarm clock app as far as I know... just adb pull it for backup first.
It's a bit more reasonable to have one.
So I am going to adb pull the original alarm clock and push the better one. Hopefully it would work.
adb pull the original and then just delete it off the phone (adb shell rm /system/app/alarmclock.apk
then just use klaxon instead
Lets say I put klaxon in place of the standard alarm clock in the system/app folder & he releases an update, would downloading the update cause me to have to instances of klaxon on my phone? Or would the update overwrite the system/app version?
I assume 2 instances but if you just install his like normal you wouldn't have that problem.

Thats what I figured. I was just thinking if i put his in system/app, I wouldnt have to reinstall it if i have to do a wipe. And if its in there, it wouldnt take space from the rest of my apps correct?
negative to both questions
just because it is in system/app doesn't mean it will be there after a wipe... and it takes the same memory.

/system is not cleared if you do a data only wipe. However, if you do a update.zip or DREAIMG.nbh, you will lose your /system directory.

This is done through the computer right? Does the Klaxon.apk have to be in the tools folder of the SDK? And speaking of case sensitive, would it be Klaxon.apk?
Off topic, just out of curiosity, what is an odex file? What are they used for?
yes on the computer, and klaxon would just be the name of the apk... I am not sure what it is named for you I just used it as an example.
You will also need the sdk to do this. There are instructions with the sdk that tell you about the adb
And it should but I am not sure. all new stuff but I assume it would update where the file is since that is where the system sees it.
Was just wondering if anyone has deleted ringtones, notification or alarms successfully? `ould love to get rid of them if possible. Tried making a copy of jf rc30, deleting them and amazon apk then installing but didn't work gave me error message.
i removed unused ringtones w/o any issues
If you have JF's RC30 1.31 installed you should be able to just delete them. Astro should let you goto where they are saved and just delete em. You may need to use DroidSans Tweak tools to remount /system as read/write first.
Hmmm, changing to read/write and trying to use Astro gave me "error deleting file"
Any other ideas?

Word let me know if this works. I asked in another thread how to do it but no one answered. All I got was the "yes you can delete them" response
I deleted all of my ringtones without any issues. Just use adb shell and remove them. You can also "pull" them first if want to have a backup. In adb shell type "cd /system/media/audio/ringtones". Now you are in the ringtones folder, now type "ls" and then a list of all the ringtones will display. Once you know the name of the one you want to delete just type "rm filename.ogg" and thats it.

You can do it all right from the phone with Terminal.
Type
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock03 /system
cd /system/media/sounds/(whichever directory you want)
ls
rm (whichever .ogg file you want)
The .ogg files are case sensitive, so beatplunker.ogg isn't the same as BeatPlunker.ogg
Also the .ogg extension has to be at the end of each file you rm.
If you want to save a backup on your sd card I just typed this before I started removing things. Good luck
Code:
cp /system/media/sounds /sdcard

In the future, you may what to do this through your PC to prevent carpel tunnel... You can download the Android SDK from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/1.1_r1/index.html
Extract it to your drive. Navigate to that folder in a command prompt window then "tools". Once there you can run(make sure the G1 is plugged in the usb):
adb remount (remounts the system read/write)
adb shell (this drops you into the shell to interact with your phone)
cd /system/media/audio/
From there you should be able to follow the proceeding directions.
I went and did all this and even went the extra mile and pushed some of my custom mp3's to the file (about 3 meg worth). Is this going to cause problems with updating in the future?
You don't need to remount the system to read/write manually if it already has been done with DroidSans do you?
I usuall y do the mount through Terminal emulator.
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
rm -r /system/media/audio/ringtones
rm -r /system/media/audio/notifications
bam gone!
I tried to copy and after mounting I typed:
cd /system/media/audio/
ls
then got:
alarms
ringtons
notifications
ui
then I typed: cp /system/media/audio /sdcard
and got this message:
cp: omitting directory '/system/media/audio'
is it something small and dumb that I'm doing or are the files copied?
I would like to remove this and Im having no luck?

Ok, to know if I have an understanding of the SK4G enough to begin development, as I don't own the phone, I have developed a quick Gingerbread theme.
Full GB theme with accurate GB battery.
This is not a flash. Push the files to your framework folder, test, take screenshots, and report back - please.
I do not have the phone so no screenshots but this is based off my Vibrant ROM located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061811
Framework is based off the Dump found in the dev section.
If there is no input, then I will assume there is no interest and find my way back to the Vibrant section.
Download <8.62MB> - http://www.mediafire.com/?ecqf24b15u6cgtk
Ill try it later today hopefully. Busy day today.
Anyone test this yet? Is it sgs II theme?

Id save his cwm flash on the card just in case, then use root explorer to push mine in place.
Or right click on his choose copy then paste. Rename the new ... - copy.zip to gbtest.zip. Hey, I just used the theme changer. Its built into the sk4g. I had my theme set to the default, but when I changed it to the light blue It changed some of the txt on the widget selector menus black. Though, the power off menu is still white, so its hard to read.
Thanks alot, and that could be handled by xml edit to change the text color most likely or change the popup background color.. thanks again though.
Have you tried pushing the stock framework back to make sure it'd work ? I might see if I can change the popup background color to a darker color like black or grey to keep it in sync with he gingerbread theme

Yeah let me know if you get something going. Im waiting for Jellette to get back on so we can figure out what to do next.
By chance, do you have a working recovery? i can boot into it, but the controls are weird, and i cant get my sdcard to mount, therefore it wont let me do any nandroid backups..
Looking at the pics now. But thats what I needed to know, it looks like the themechanger overwrites xml changes in the framework.
