I have always loved this forum and always will.
i used to have windows mobile phones and i learned a lot here.
the i switched to android
and again, with my HTC magic i could rely on XDA..
Now i have a little question.
I know that there have been discussions about why the Motorola droid/milestone don't get their own section.
and i understand why.
only HTC made phone right?
and i know this can be confusing sometimes.
i owned the SEX1, and its Sony, but made by HTC.
But now i am seeing:
Acer F1: neoTouch S200
Samsung Omnia II: i8000, i920, B7610, B7620
Toshiba Tsunagi: TG01
Acer A1: Liquid S100
LG Monaco: eXpo GW820
Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10
As far as i knew, most of the company's above made their own phones.
or are you guys going to tell me that all of the above are HTC made???????
You should try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616206
I guess based on requests they might add new subforums for other devices than HTC.

is it possible to add a new group of phones on index? i would really like to see toshiba phones such as g810 there...
thanks!
This is an HTC Forum.. you could use "Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking" ROOM in "General Discussion": a lot of people do that
D'rath
Although I probably won't own a Toshiba, I also think that it would be a good idea to add devices to this forum such as the G01. This is the best windows mobile site, and I think that there are people out there willing to develop and start a community around the new Toshiba phones. They all just need a place to stay
HTC only
As stated several times before...
This is an HTC devices only forum and no section will be added for any non HTC device, this is the point of view of the owners of the site wich I support.
"htc only" heh... Just not true dude!!! Browse the forum!!!

I absolutely agree!!! Plus on that list are non HTC phones like HP iPaqs and SE Xperia... So why not just add ASUS and Toshiba? Simple as that! It would contribute a lot, cause searching for non listed phones is just messy right now!!!
Anyway to prevent further ranting, these were my two cents... Over and out...
Cheers
they're not branded by HTC but manufactured by HTC
it's been discussed long and many times ago, Browse the forum!!!
Cheese and Cheers
Forum BIG, me small
Hey guys
are HTC making this like the X1?
Cheers
No.
It's to be manfactured by foxconn.
Chexk the dedicated xperia section, there is a whole thread on the x2 pictures and all.
Cheers guys! If its not made by HTC then I might consider it
LOL
Why you said that?
Are you tired of HTC?
All of the four HTC devices i've owned have needed warranty repairs - and i don't mistreat my devices. In my experience, the build quality is sh*&.
Shame to hear that
On my experience (Only 2 HTC devices) since 2005 and 2006
I have never any problem with my Uni or S621, perhaps I was lucky then...
I've been eyeballing the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia X3:
Description- http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Sony-Ericsson-Rachael-phone-p_3841.html
Gallery- http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Sony-Ericsson-Rachael-phone-gallery-pg_3841.html
My question is whether the software and roms developed for other phones, particularly the HTC magic, will work on other Android platforms such as the SE Xperia.
Many thanks to everyone here. I'm new around here, but the knowledge and skills at work here are fantastic.
I noticed a theme that XDA primarily does HTC phones. I remember reading a while back that X brand was releasing and Android phone but would not be supported on XDA. So my question is, will this phone get it's own section on XDA to give central place for devs to do work at?
Thanks! (hope I posted in right section)
Most likely not. It's not a HTC phone like you stated. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 was designed by HTC, thats why it has a home here. The new Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 and X3(Android) weren't design by HTC to my knowledge. So the X2 and X3 might have a home here cause of the X1 users. Or might not.
So, do you all know of where the development for that might be going on?
that's what I was wondering. No hardcore dev's like on XDA is a definite no buy!

Slightly offtopic but...
The X1 had a similar resemblance to the Touch Pro which all in all was a similar phone.
I don't know if this has been mentioned on this before but the X3 has a real striking resemblance to the Touch HD, maybe it is designed by HTC and will be released at a similar time a the Touch HD 2 which will also like the X3 run android (rumored but wouldnt be suprised).
Cliq-Development.com
Cliq-Development.com is a bunk site. couple of guys pissing and moaning about money. I really wanted to get a cliq as the nexus one doesn't have a keyboard and my G1 is falling apart lol.
now there is a page for the motorola droid but not the cliq.... was the motorola droid designed by HTC...? i dont think so...

I'm new to XDA, but will post information about the Motorola Cliq device as I develop and receive information. I think if we talk/chat more about the cliq on this site developers will be willing to copy or cross post and information share(abiding by XDA rules of course) to a goal of obtaining its own thread. Again, just by looking at XDA there is not a lot of support for this device.

Anything ever become of this 'issue'?
Before anyone comments, Yes. I *know* this forum is primarily for HTC devices.
Anyway, does anyone know if there are any projects going for getting Android running on Non-HTC devices? Specifically, Acer or Eten devices? I've got a bunch of devices here (see my sig), that I'd LOVE to get it running on, but don't have a clue where to start, nor the skills necessary to write drivers for them...
Motorola and Samsung are the manufaturers that spring to mind. There's the Samsung Galaxy and Motorola have just made an announcement which Orange will be carrying sometime in October.

Yeah, I know that; but what I was asking was if anyone knows of any projects to get Android ported to existing non-HTC devices, such as the projects for the HTC Vogue and Kaiser...
Sure, i780 and omnia can run android. No audio and microphone yet.. but you can send sms, navigate into menu, use wifi, install apps etc

Some folks over at modaco.com are porting android for the Samsung Omnia. I think they also have a thread in the dev/hacking section.
