Finding TONS of dead 4shared links to the file Eugene was linking everyone to, but can't find the 32a (3.2.2 version I believe) radio anywhere. For the folks running 32b boards, is it now common practice to flash radio and use 32a ROMS?
If so, can someone direct me to the the radio image (and anything else I might need beyond fastboot or adb)?
Also, once I've flashed to 32a, I'm hoping to find a Sense 2.1 ROM with bluetooth. Anyone know of a working one? If not, how about a recommendation to a working Eclair ROM (preferably with bluetooth also, but I can live w/o)?

Don't try to flash a 32A Radio to a 32B phone. Won't work at best and may brick your phone at worst!

nope you can flash a 32A radio on your 32B as long as you follow procedures correctly. I don't know too much about them but I see people doing it all the time. I wouldn't flash the 6.35 32A radio though, just the 3.22. I highly doubt you can use the 2.1 sense rom with 3.22
32B isn't abandonned, theres more for that than 32A. 32A people like myself have to find ports as I don't know how to make one! Most the 32A roms are unstable anyways (for example, 2.1) Until we receive something official, it's not the best everyday rom

My current understanding is that there isn't a sense ROM out there where BT works with 32B radio. No longer true?
there are no decent sense roms
the only ones run outdated 1.5 or are 2.1 builds for NEW 6.35 radio
with your 32b low memory sense is not really gonna work any better and you should stick to the 32b ports for sense roms
any sense roms basically require new 6.35 radio to work properly which a 32b cannot support

I'm still quite new in this forum and have only had my Magic for 2 weeks now. But for what I'm convinced - you cannot use a 32B ROM on your 32A device as out-of-the-box sollution.
I've seen on other treads, that some people have managed to fix and modify a ROM to use on a different device. So it should maybe be possible...

This thread is a good idea. I don't want someone's hacked up 32b mod with a 32a upgrade. This rom is for 32A devices - why can't someone just root it and package it as an update.zip? Surely that'd be more productive...

We need a no-nonsense 32A ONLY ROM for our phones. I tried eugene's ROM earlier today, and it's pretty good, but it's a lot buggier than I'm sure the stock ROM would be.

Its because the majority of people here have a mytouch or 32b.. if the majority was 32a you can bet someone would have the TW RUU file somehow tricked to work on all 32a.. right from the start they are just woried about cooking it to work on thier phones.. we just need to be patient i guess

There will be and hopefully soon enough. I know redglasses is working on his myHero 2.0 and i really appriciate that he take his time cooking this instead of putting something together way to fast like others around
Think that "the fastes rom" was missundestood. It's not about being the first to release a cooked rom

hotweiss has said he will be releasing the HoFo 3.0 ROM based on the dump this weekend. It's specifically for 32A.
could anyone who successfully flashed the official RUU post a nandroid backup?
I don't think it depend on the SPL only.
Because I have tried 009 and 010, neither of them can work.
So there must be something else.
Both radio and SPL version should be critical.
If there is a particular trend, I guess it is easier to troubleshoot.

I would... But i can't boot to amon-ra's recovery... Seems all known exploits are fixed in the 1.76.0007 spl
Also i started out with spl 1.33.0009 and the radio from 2.20, which i can't remember what was called....

I upgraded successfully my spl was 1.33.2010 eng and radio was 3.22... or something like this don't remember but my 32 a was from India so any person having bought theit 32 a's from india can tell u the radio

I find the way to update
Firstly it's nothing about spl and radio I think. I use a goldcard to put it inside a magic with the official RUU to pass the CID check and step by step,it worked! I'm sure it will work on the other g2,you will be successeful! Sorry for my poor English..but it really worked on my g2 from indonesea and another from India.

This ROM is native to the Hero platform, which is essentially the 32A Magic.
These devs have ported it for 32B and will then create a patch to port it to 32A. It's like taking the long way around to get right back to where you were before.
I'll wait for a clean 32A port of this ROM.
This might be a naive question but why is it that all latest roms released are ported to 32b devices first? Isn't the Hero 2.1 rom designed for devices with 288MB RAM? Shouldn't support for the 32a Magic be the first one available?

i guess dev create rom first for 32b because of the number of 32b devices. I think 32a devices are not many in numbers.

And the dev is using a T-Mobile MyTouch3g, which is a 32B device.
What bothers me is that these images leaked from HTC are hoarded by the devs in the Dream forums and we're the last ones to get a peek in at them. We always end up porting the ROMs that they create instead of having a chance to build some of our own.

32B is the standard that people are developing for and is what the AOSP source is based on. 32A on the old radio is a very easy port from 32B. They both use a very similar 2.6.29 kernel.
Also, there is no stable working kernel 2.6.29 for 32A on the new 6.35 radio.

And used the "how-to-root-the-htc-magic-in-one-click" to root the phone , then installed Amon RA's 1.5.2H recovery and flashed CyanogenMod from "wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/32A_Kernel", and the 32A port using the before mentioned recovery program.
I have no problems.
Why do I need another SPL and Radio? if I want to flash CursorSense32A, OpenEclair or the KingKlick rom's <- just to mention a few...

The next official Android 2.1 update will most likely have the latest radio too.
So if you want to have the latest (rooted) official HTC roms on your device, you need the latest radio too.

Ok, so what is the difference, other than they are required for certain ROMs? Are there new features or ???
What phones actually came with these 'new' versions; I have a new Rogers Magic and it had the old versions installed. I also believe the Rogers update (OTA) was still the old SPL, although a perfected version.
Why would someone want to upgrade and are there incompatibilities with providers (mine is 850/1900 freq - radio specifically)
I also read a comment that said something to the likes of:
The new radio and SPL makes the 32A a Hero (or like)... (I think from Amon in another thread.) Does that mean it can run the Hero kernel (build kern for Hero device type), a port; I assume it can't run a Hero ROM direct, is it just easier to port those ROMs?

I'm currently using marsdroid lite for the new radio. pretty fast (way smoother than another new spl/radio superD i used before).
and btw, the new radio is indeed different: I now have reception in some of the subway stations in Toronto which is impossible w/ the old radio.

So, new radio is for reception, and might be some sort of recognition of a fix that Rogers sent out because of problems with calling "911". <- Am I on the right track?
Why does the Rom care about the radio version?
Is the SPL, a sort of a preloader that will pick up the phone layout before booting into a rom?
And a 32A is different from a 32B because? (is it internal ram, 288 vs 192)
the 911 fix was part of the update afaik, the radio change has nothing to do with the fix.
yes it is the internal ram difference. also the boards for the two phones are different, however if you look around the dev section there is a way to port any 32b rom to 32a. however it will only use 192 ram

Allow me to replicate what has been said over at the German forums.
HTC screwed up the serial check on the webpage, so not even the German users are able to download the update. The Germans are freaking out about why they can't download the update. Some have emailed HTC, and HTC isn't sending the file (http://www.android-hilfe.de/htc-magic/16902-htc-sense-rom-fuer-vodafone-verfuegbar.html).
The Germans suspect that this is indeed a Sense UI for the 32B, as it is ROM-Version:2.16.151.3 with a date of Feb 8.
To compare, the 32A Sense UI released by HTC is ROM-Version:3.05.401.3, with a date of Jan 28.
Why the heck would HTC release a newer rom with an older version string?
Also, the 32B German Vodafone Magic is only known to be 32B. See for yourself: http://www.htc.com/de/product/magic/specification.html
The official word from Vodafone is that the update IS LEGIT FOR 32B VODAFONE MAGICs. But it is distributed via OTA via Vodafone this month.
What we do know is that the rom has been cooked by HTC, and it is Sense UI for 32B.

This is not old news. The VF Magic is a 32B and this is the first official Sense UI for the 32B. So far it has only been done for the 32A with a 6 series radio.
This update either contains a Sense UI system image with support for the 3 series radio, or a new 6 series SPL for the 32B board.
I'm not posting this for the Dream. If a mod feels like it they can move this to Magic Dev, but I thought this is the place to talk about 32B Magic work.

The HTC Hero runs the Sense UI which is found on the tatoo and Sapphire or Rogers.The rom from jcarz is based on a Sense rom for Magic so yes, there is a sense rom avail and I think one of MLIGN's roms are based off of a Magic dump.

sometimes the OTA updates take awhile to start up, but I dont think this is old news if this is the official SenseUI update for the 32b boards, might be able to get a dump from it

I understand all that, i thought all the roms we had were HERO ROM based, cause the Tattoo doesnt run a HERO build its runs a SenseUI donut 1.6 I thought

My point was that they all run the Sense UI and the Hero isnt running some special version of it.The only difference is the boot screen that says hero and shows a android moving on the Magic.Tatoo is barely popular and no roms here are based on it cause it was too difficult to port.

and type in your S/N at the bottom you can then upload the update for the DEVs and everyone here, its free from the HTC site

i know the tattoo dump was difficult due to the difference in screen size, but a official update for 32b might be a bit more refined with the SenseUI. I just thought there might be a use for the 32b update the dude above has the right idea it might be optimized for our ph0nes, instead of a huge HERO ROM

you always ramble incorrect information. different phones are running different versions of sense ui. also tattoo was difficult to port because of the resolution. eugene ported it though.
also the tattoo is a donut hero.
