Hi everyone,
I am new to thie forum as I have just bought a new Xperia X2 a week ago.
Every thing on Xperia is working fine along with the Internet.
I installed SPB GPRS Monitor to monitor my Internet usage as I have a 2Gb monthly limit, but SPB GPRS Monitor doesnot seems to do what it is supposed to do.
No internet usage is listed in the application, on troubleshooting I found out that under SPB GPRS Monitor> tools > options > Connections I cannot find any internet settings listed.
Can someone please help and guide me if I am doing some thing wrong.
I believe SPB GPRS monitor is the old product name. The product is now called SPB Wireless Monitor, http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/wirelessmonitor/
After installation, in the Start menu one will find 2 icons, "SPB Wireless Popup" and "SPB Wireless Monitor". The former shows the usage to-date and the latter is the config manager.

I have used both at some point in the past and have had a similar problem, the GPRS connection didn't show in the list of connections to be monitored. Usually a soft reset solved it and it appeared. Even though it wasn't showing it seemed to have been monitoring the connection anyway.

Hi All, had a search for this problem on the net but couldn't find anything...
... I've noticed that overnight, my TC uses the internet heavily. Spb GPRS monitor shows between 1 and 3 MB per hour between 1 am and 7 am.
During the day, it's a lot less despite me using it occcasionally to download and send emails.
Any ideas what it could be?

I have the GPRS connection totally disconnected due i don't need, but why don't you configure your Network and specify which prog. should have data access?
Good question... but it sends almost as many data as it recieves...
My first idea was the RSS HUB, then the IMAP sync, but they should produce the same amount all day..
(Mine's an original, non branded Polaris...)
I found a similar problem; the GPRS monitor shows 1,2 Mb of data downloaded between 8 and 9 in the morning, while I wasn't using the mobile (it was connected to my Pc, charging). No app is configured for automatic download/connection. I just found that a link to fring application is in the autorun folder; I just deleted it and I'll look at what will happen in the next days.
I would check your Activesync setting to make sure that it's not set to download content off-peak.
With PocketLAN, you can see all connections with reached IP and port. See the PortMonitor section in this soft.

Hi,
Got a HTC pharos today in replacement of a touch (broken, change by orange many times last month but since they only provide crappy refurbished mobiles....). Pretty satisfied so far. I don t miss htc cube that much... I don t miss Wifi yet (only use it when on holidays, that is to say almost never muhaha). GPS is nice... No more bluetooth head to carry in my already too full pockets.
So, let's start with my problem). It has a built in GPS, just like the cruise. After toying a bit with my new phone... and after I have configured the gps, I have noticed that a GPRS connection is launched each time I launch the GPS (TomTom that I had to install since those stupid techs from orange thought it was good to remove from their rom and replace by by their ****ty home made navigator).
Have you noticed that kind of connection. Do you know how I could prevent this (even though it doesn't cost me a buck, since I have set a blank GPRS by default). Could be a thing or two that could be modified in the registry but cannot find it yet...
Sorry I post in the cruise section but there is no pharos section yet (please Admins.... listen to my prayer)
your phone may have "assisted" GPS (AGPS) enabled, thats why it is attempting a data connection. This feature is designed to locate you faster when the satelite signals are week.
You may/may not need a registry editor to disable this feature...
That phone does have aGPS, if you don't want it trying to grab a data connection go to Start/ Programs/ QuickGPS select Menu/ Options and de-select the "Auto download when data expires"
I find that if you use the GPS daily you don't need the aGPS data, it will work just as well without. Also TomTom itself could be requesting the data connection if you have enabled any of the Plus services - Mike
right ...
AGPS = Assisted GPS
HKLM/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS/EnableAGPS
1 = on
2 = off
http://ghisler.fileburst.com/cebeta3/tcmdpocket25_armpubbeta3.exe
its a free file commander / reg editor / ftp client .... all you need
Hi
Thank you for your help. Couldn't find the quick menu so I edited the registry like Aleph305 said. Working perfectly. Now the GPS starts a few seconds after I launch TomTom.
I do not use plus services so I will not miss AGPS a lot.
How can I see the amount of data transferred with GPRS/3G/HSDPA-connections to my touch pro? I can find the call-durations but nothing for data.... strange because these devices are popular because the capability of mobile internet.

A quick search on Google (or your favourite search engine) would bring up the same results:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/gprsmonitor/glossary.html?en
I've found that offcourse :| But I wanted to know if it was build in WM.
You mean there is no way that WM collects this data??
on one of the cd's that came with your Touch Pro is a program called SPB GPRS monitor.
install this on your device and you'll end up with a small today screen item that shows the amount of data send/recieved (and more)
EDIT: never mind! you found it allready
but to awnser your question: no WM does not collect/store this data.
So very strange that WM does not incorporate such software into WM, i think a lot of users would benefit from it.
@XtremeXL: I've looked at the CD's which accompanied my TouchPro but I didn''t find the SBP GPRS program. on which cd it's located?
even people on normal computers with limited mb's a months dont get such features on windows for pc's as far as i know

I'm sorry you're right! the program is not on the cd
i used to have a HTC TyTn II and it was located on that cd (unfortunatly
I sold it)
but i've send you a PM!
gprs monitor that came with the TyTn II will not install on the touch pro - just incase you were thinking down those lines. The application is "locked" to the TYTN II only.
The only other app that i have found with a gprs counter is pocketmax phonealarm which provides amany other features such as profile switching etc. Yu will need to use secondtoday application in order to run it if you are using the vanilla interface.
GPRS monitor increases CPU processing time by an average of 5% when no data connection is active. When i tried it on both my TYTN II and TOuch Pro, the CPU would consistantly change from 99% to around 88 - 95% due to GPRS Monitor.
Battery Status, also provides a free alternative.

I have always found spb's GPRS minitor to slow down the data connection speed itself, so don't bother with it. Being on t-mobile's web'n'walk plus (3Gb cap) means you dont need to worry about excess data charges anyway.

Hi all!
I downloaded the latest version of GPRS Traffic Monitor this weekend and installed the cab-file on the phone (succefully). But I'm experiencing bis problems with that piece of software.
It's not possible to enable GPRS Monitor on the HomeScreen. I set the little hook, but when I return to the homescreem it's not displayed. When I go back and look at the homescreen settings, it's not enabled anymore. Looks like it's disable anytime I close the homescreen settings dialog.
Even when running GPRS Monitor without the homescreen plugin, no data transfers are monitored at all. (Don't know if this is based on the homescreen issue.)
I'm using the stock rom shiped by O2 Germany.
Any suggestions?
Tkx in advance.

a short update:The traffic is counted when I enable "connection monitoring" for the connection called "o2 internet gprs". But what if data is transfered over one of the other connections as "o2 surf"? And is there a way to make sure that GPRS Monitor is allways started without having it on my homescreen? (As i just notice you can run TF3D only as stand alone homescreen.)
Is many people using that battery status program (now called HomeScreen++)? Am i right in thinking thats a pluggin for the today screen but not the manilla/touchflow interface?
My boss has just received a HTC touch pro, the first CD with outlook / ActiveSync worked ok. But the second CD doesnt work in any pc's i've tried it in, would that have SPB gprs Monitor and Backup (like my diamond did)?
Anyone know if they are available to download? From above or another post it said was locked per device, so if its licensed for touch pro only then i guess i'm ok to acquire it, if it should of came on cd anyway.

if you mean the task bar icon it is situated at the top of the screen and you can move the icon about using the slider situated in the info tab in the options

Because TF3D is taking over your homescreen, the plugins selected to display on the today-screen are not displayed until you deselect TF3D. GPRS-monitor is always started when installed, you do not have to start it manually before opening a connection to monitor the usage.
If you want to monitor different connections you will need to set these up using different profiles in GPRS-monitor. One profile for each connection. Then the program should monitor all different types of traffic.
I have 3 different connections in my TP but I only use one of them, the rest is disabled with NODATA-cab. I haven't had any problems with these disabled connections. So you might want to give that a try too.
ok, here is the deal, im going to try to be as specific as possible so i dont cause too much trouble. Thank you in advance!
Phone: Omnia
Version: Lite02
Provider: Wind Greece
Problem: I used to be able to connect to the internet ONLY through my wi-fi connection. In order to "reprogram" the whole deal (under settings > connections > connections) i deleted all the settings there thinking i could do it correct if i started from scratch.. what i fool i was.
Exactly what i did: I installed the Htc_Network_Wizard_GR (in order to get the greek settings automatically for wind. Also, i installed a cab which added a "Opera Widgets" program - cab's name: echOpera Mobile 9.5 b2520.
Current situation: Under connections i got Wind Internet, which apparently has the correct GPRS settings, because, when i set it under advanced > Select Networks > Programs that automaticaly connect to internet:, AND select the Opera browser to use that connection to connect to the internet, Opera DOES connect and show pages JUST FINE! on top of that when i pass from Opera a youtube video to CorePlayer to play it.. It DOEs!
Now, EVERY other program that uses internet doesnt seem to find the connection!! for example, youtubeplay, when i press feed: top rated, it IMMEDIATELY sends message "search failed, internet connection not working or timeout." Same goes for: SPB weather, Insight, and even the built-in e-mail (from the windows)
A secondary problem, is that now, every program, INCLUDING the Opera browser, DOESNT find as an internet connection my wifi! meaning, although i connect nicely to the only source i could go online from my omnia, now thats gone too. In addition, where i think the problem with that one is, Under Wifi > Network Adapters > My network card connects to > there is NOTHING to select from.. how do i change this?
Pictures of the problem:

ok, an update, ive come to the conclusion that i *probably* need to restore some registry keys in order to make this god damned phone work at last.. anyone who can provide me with a cab probably? which can restore the previous settings? :S
dont make me format the phone again. please.
you could ring the provider and ask them to send you setting to your
I used to have an O2 Orbit 2, im wondering if anyone can help...
It had a battery monitor bar, memory card storage % bar, and a slider bar to set the screen brightness on the today screen.
Also it had an application to tell you your GPRS Data usage for the day/week/month which created reports.
I used these all the time (obviously because they were on the today screen!) and id like them back if possible.
Im pretty sure they were included in the O2 ROM, I don't think I installed any applications like that. Can anyone upload them or tell me what they're called please?
Thanks
Hi Try going to setting>today>items(tab at bottom) then select meters.
"Meters" isn't there
the apps your on about were installed by O2 when you got the phone, the gprs usage monitor was called exactly that, GPRS monitor (taken from the CD i got with the phone) along with sprite backup, which i saw on marketplace for about £16 i think
as for meters, isnt that part of the 6.1 rom by default? i definitely know O2 have a kind of mini task manager at the bottom of the screen, but i dont know if meters is part of that sorry
just tried to post a link to the GPRS monitor tool i uploaded. alas ive not been here long enough it seems.
I will pm it to you if you wish.
