I don't believe it has been rooted yet. How do you like the XT? Did you own the original cliq?

I like the orig Cliq. The Blur can be laggy at times...other Reps on my team are having major FC's with their Cliqs and reluctant on selling the XT, lol! (just got off a conf. call)
None of them are aware or no how to 'root', so i have an advantage. I should have the HD2 next month.............

You sound like your in the know. Any word on when we will finally get 3G in Springfield MO?

Check this out.......

Since you are part of t-mobile USA
will we get a decent android phone like maybe the HTC DESIRE?
I'm tired of moto selling their motoblur devices running android 1.5, have low specs, and just downright old and outdated.
I'm guessing my october if they aren't any good android devices on t-mobile I have to go Win-Mo with the HD2

Good Question!!
On my last conf. call my manager stated that "Android is OLD", lol! Because of the lack of updates from 1.5/1.6 - 2.1.
As of right now, our focus is the Wins Mobile HTC HD2. When i say "our focus", i mean MY SALES TEAM in the Southeast, I am not speaking on the behalf of Tmobile in general. just only my opinion based on my sales team **disclaimer** lol!
NOw, the HTC Desire(only in the UK) can be purchased unlocked (699.99). As a 'rooter' I would rather buy the Nexus One and root the Desire ROM. As a customer, I would still purchase the Nexus One b/c of the price difference.

Every springfield other than Springfield MO is mentioned. Be a secret Ninja and get us some 3g news! Please?

I had the regular cliq before I got the xt, and I'll have to say they xt is WAY better. I never really complained about it running 1.5 because that's what it had when I bought it and I liked it when I bought it. Now I'm getting a little testy about not getting an android upgrade just for the simple fact that there are A LOT of new apps the require 1.6 or higher. It won't be much longer before 1.5 is dead altogether. It's like buying a brand new PC and it comes running windows 98 or something. Alot of stuff just won't work on 1.5 anymore so it's definitely time for an upgrade. I know we're on the list for an update and all that but they said that in March and it never came. I hope this Q2 thing is for real, and the XT is still running Blur version 1.3.11. Will that be updated before the android update? Does it need to be? I'm just wondering why the xt is yet to even get a Blur update. Just a few thoughts. I still really like the phone and after an update I'm sure I'll love it!!

Any way you can post the click xt's music player apk please?

I'm with you on that one. I'll have an HD2 soon as they're back in stock. I've been trying to get one for a month now. I got to play with a demo at the store and it was awesome..

Android Handsets

Has anyone noticed that most all Android handsets are lacking a hardware keyboard? Seriously, the only one i can see is the G1 (Im not counting the moto ones as i cannot put a custom rom on it, and wheres the fun in that!!)
I've had a G1 but that was a loooonnnng time ago and my TP2 is beggining to get on my nerves . I have been offered a Motorola Dext from work at £60 but i just couldnt live with it.
So to give this thread a point, can anyone reccomend an android based handset that has a hardware keyboard and can be modded?
Otherwise i may just end up waiting on a Moto Milestone because they look awesome!!!!
The droid or milestone is rootable (I think).
The Telus Milestone just got rooted a few days ago, which is great news for AT&T users However, I've heard it doesn't have the best hardware keyboard.

Anyone still dream of 2.2 update in this month?

Back in July, UK Galaxy S announced Froyo update will be delivered in Sept. And it looks like they will have it.
And the US market, well, they don't even have an ETA yet.
Talk about fragmentation.

Every night, I do.
I think there's gonaa be a froyo update for our captivates soon, i've been reading and somewhere I saw it was not going to be through OTA so I don't really know what's gonna be the update method.
Update this month??
Remember at&t has never, EVER, upgraded a smartphone which it sold. Never!! Do not know whether it is incompetence or a desire to get you to buy a new phone with FROYO and a new contract. They have absolutely zero experience in this area, OTA or not.
Consider the poor Backflip, still stuck in Android 1.3X in spite of all the promises.
They updated the Fuze. A couple of times i think. I ran custom ROMS but I know they updated it at least once.
sent from my Captivate
AT&T updated the oringial Blackjack from Winmo 6.0 to 6.1
Yep, but we have to give HTC and Samsung credit for those upgrades, and the one to the Tilt I, but AT&T, I don't think so. If Samsung can work around all the crippling of the Captivate, maybe they will offer us something, but the stock Galaxy S is not quite the same beast as the Captivate. OTA and from AT&T, it'll be a first. We shall see!
Take it back. AT&Ts HTC Aria just got a minor update, interesting thing: it was OTA

That's not true. I had a Tilt 2 before making the switch to Android, and they just released an updated ROM for it with Sense instead of TouchFlo 3d. I thought THAT would never happen.
It's coming, but it will be long after the other carriers.
September 23rd
A number of sources are saying the Captivate 2.2 will come on the 23rd (or are they saying Galaxy S 2.2). Either way, it may be a bit before an official US version is available, but once the kernel is out, I would think that we'll see roms become available.
Just hang on a bit longer!
considering it took AT&T almost a year to upgrade the bold 9000 from 4.6 to the 5.0 OS that was available for months from other carriers, i wont be expecting froyo on this phone anytime soon.

It wasn't AT&T, that upgraded the phone to WinMo, it was Samsung, as a matter of fact, I don't think AT&T supported the phone if you upgraded it to 6.1 [I miss my BlackJack, lol]. And you had to download it from their site, and all that other bull.
Either way, I just want Froyo, it's driving me crazy, all this talk about it coming, and what not. Leave it to AT&T, and all US carriers to load the phones with such nonsense, that the phones software has to be beta tested 30x's over before it can even hit the consumer. By the time 2.2 is out for the US Galaxy S devices, every other carrier/droid phone is going to be talking about 3.0.
It's the one thing that I will give to Apple, they close sourced their equipment and their OS, not that I agree with it, but they locked AT&T out of alot of aspects of the OS, and how they bundle software with it [no AT&T bloatware upon purchase], so they beta test for a month or so, depending on how major the release, and then push it out, and patch along the way.
I understand how difficult it is for android, with different HW spread across all the MFGs, but if the MFGs stop with the bloat we'd all be happy with Froyo right now
I hope it comes out this month. I think it's mandatory for Samsung to release an update across all carriers because of the faulty GPS. I'm hoping we'll know something by the 23rd.
I'm sure we'll get the update sooner or later - heck, September is only halfway through. While it does seem unlikely that we'll get this is month, deadlines frequently slip in software development, so it's not entirely surprising.
Chances are, those of os who want to will be running the i9000 Froyo ROM with a fixed kernel before we see the update roll out from AT&T, but I look forward to being delightfully surprised. We've already fixed the rotation issues, so it just remains to be seen if the headphone logic issue that popped up in the i9000 2.2 ROMs persists in the final build.
One word, no.

Dead wrong. I personally get AT&T updates on following Smartphones:
1. HTC 2125 WM5.0->WM5.1
2. Samsung BlackJack WM5.0->WM6.0
3. Samsung BlackJack 2 WM6.0->WM6.1
4. Samsung Jack WM6.1->WM6.5
GPS update this month? Maybe.
Froyo? Not bloody likely. We'll be extremely lucky to see Froyo in 2010.

[Q] Play the waiting game?

Hey All,
I am finnaly upgrade ready and have already sold my previous andriod device in the hopes that being stuck using a moto razr would modivate me to do some research on my next purchase. Boy has it, I never knew how dependant I have become of a smart phone. But, anyways my question is this. With the news of dual core offerings on the horizon should I tough it out with the Razr and get the deep discount for a 2xcore or pick up a Captivate for around 60 USD shipped. Honestly I know if I wait for the newest and best I will always be waiting because there is always something better being built when the old project goes retail. But, if its a month or two away............. see my dilema? I have found no hard release dates and I'm sure I wont till after the US holiday season is over. Any thoughts on this?
And yes in the poll dual is spelled incorrectly... but I cannot edit.
The Captivate is a nice phone; I have one... but it has a few issues with say the GPS, or mysterious shut downs that some people get, and some people don't. I still like mine, and am just waiting hopefully for an update or rom that'll fix everything.
Not sure about the other phones you're referring to though.
If you want dual core, you should wait for the LG Optimus 2X.
Swyped from my HTC Desire running Oxygen 1.0.4 with Tapatalk.
I completely agree with you. I've been through 3 phones since last July (2009) and have no idea what to do next. I went from a Blackberry I purchased in July of 09, then by december I made the switch to the G1. That sold me on Android. I fell in love. Months later of having the phone, the MyTouch Slide was introduced and I figured the G1 was getting severely outdated and since I didn't pay too much I'd go try that. I also wanted another touch screen phone with a full keyboard. Well, release day June 2010, I picked up the MyTouch Slide. Little did I know it would be abandoned at the start.
People will try to convince you stating tha the phone isn't abandoned, but for me I think it is. The phone was released in June with 2.1 and getting 2.2 seems more like a dream day by day. Yes, I'm rooted, but the phone has quirks and Tmobile was quick to release better phones soon after (G2 etc.) Now we have 2.3 released and 3.0 is already in development. So, if you ask me the MyTouch Slide is out of the picture (plus the HD came out almost immediately after.)
So now the question for me is do I wait a bit until I have the money for a Nexus S or do I wait it out for the Dual Core phones? Nexus S is supposed to be quite powerful and I'm all for a stock OS without the BS Tmo loads on their phones. So, I feel you on it. I haven't the slightest idea what to do next. Will a dual core phone be released mid-year? Q3ish or early 2012?

I just wanted to bring to discuss all the bs surrounding these two companies (samsung and motorola) and the owners that purchase their devices. So glad I stuck with the true android gurus HTC!
lol I feel so sorry for you samsung and motorola owners. It obvious these two companies are known for poor customer support, build quality and most important getting updates out to their phones...and yet you guys continue to feed them their money. Why do they continue to invest in these companies that are KNOWN for having slow to no updates and not having good customer support for previous phones? Just look at their track record...

The point that im trying to make is that they need to just stick with HTC. Almost every phone they have put out has been amazing for their time. The original g1, nexus one, evo, incredible, g2, desire, desire HD, mytouch 3g and 4g etc... All of these phones produced by HTC were amazing in their own right and had the customer support of htc to back them. Even if updates were "slow" ( and HTC updates are no where near as slow samsung and motorola) HTC would always keep their customers in loop about what was happening with their phones.

Motorola updates their major line of products quickly. The Droid received the 2.2 update last year, the X received it months of being released, and the Droid 2 shipped with 2.2! It was one of the first phones to be shipped with 2.2! I can see their approach on some of their phones, like the Backflip, or the Cliq. Those weren't really made to be serious android phones, more for texting, facebooking, twittering tweens. Their Droid phones are very well built, as is the i9 and the Defy. The Devour is decent build quality too. The original Droid and the X have almost as much a whole following as the G1 did even. The software aside from the original Droid sucks. Motoblur is utter crap. But if there is an issue with the device, Motorola is always quick to fix it and keep support for their phones. I talk to my buddy at Verizon, and even though the Droid is EOL, Motorola still supports it. If HTC is so amazing, then why do people have complains on build quality and deathgrip on some of their phones? Why are people complaining on how poorly made the HD7 is? Sure, I'll agree that I'd prefer HTC over Samsung or Motorola anyday, but they aren't as great as you make them out to be. Touch pro 2? No hardware support? Hero getting 2.1 late? Legend getting 2.2 late? Aria still not completely 2.2 everywhere? HD2 buttons going out? Evo light leaks? Response issue with the Evo and the Incredible? HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE battery life with 4g enabled on the Evo? Don't get me wrong, I love my Evo. HTC offers great support for their phones, but like every other company out there they have their faults.

Excuse me? Lol are you serious? The cliq and backflip weren't meant to be to serious android devices? Not only do you disrespect the consumers who purchased those devices, but also the whole concept customer appreciation. I was once a cliq owner, and I was PROMISED an update within a couple MONTHS of the cliq release. Almost a full year later, after I had already given up on receiving an update and purchased a G2, I finally hear word that the cliq got their update. So your telling me the motorola has the right to pick, choose and delay updates based on their focus on other devices? Lmao are you serious?
This my friend is why htc is amazing, on every android phone they have produced they have sent timely updates. MOST IMPORTANTLY THEY KEEP A CLOSE CONNECTION WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS AND KEEP THEM IN THE LOOP ABOUT THEIR PHONES UPDATE...unlike samsung and motorola. Learn to respond with respect towards people who might have owned or are currently owning one of those devices you seem to call " none serious android". If the cliq wasn't meant to be serious, then why was it used as the flagship phone for motoblur? Think before you write...
Btw regardless of the whethr or not htc is dealing with the htc evo or the ancient mytouch 3g, they still give great support to both. Can you say the same about the droid x to the motorola cliq xt? Yea I think not...

It would be nice if you didn't put words in my mouth. Sad, but true. HTC did the same with the Hero. Promised 2.0, didn't deliver. Finally put out 2.1 for it, had massive dialer lag issues. All of them do it. Samsung was suppose to have 2.2 for every Galaxy S device out before 2010 ended but hasn't, Sony is keeping the X10 on 2.1(FOR GOD KNOWS WHY!!! A SNAPDRAGON PHONE ON 2.1 STILL!!!!!!), LG is just kind of sitting there in the back launching mid range devices that make people happy, Motorola had update issues with the Cliq, and HTC may deliver their updates mostly at a good time, but they're not always perfect. Close connection? None of them do! They tell you when the update is going to be(or in Samsungs case, suppose to be) released. There is no close connection with the consumer and the manufacturer. Their support lines are terrible, they excuse their issues with their phones saying that other companies have the same issues. Like I said, they're nice, but everyone has their faults. As far as Motoblur goes, it was the first device to use Motoblur. You don't see that slow UI on every Motorola device do you? Droid didn't use it, and the 2 and the X both use a much better variant(Though still annoying). You only see it on their considerably lower end phones. You should also take a look at my signature. There's a good reason why I don't go for Samsung products, the Moment and the Epic. The Moment was so bad in so many levels, a CDMA phone launched with 1.5?! Despite suppose to launch with 1.6 that actually supports CDMA?! A Half ass 2.1 update that uses libs and file systems from 1.5?! Terrible network issues where the network locked up on my 3 times a day, even though I've replaced the phone 3 times?! Just to get it to work, I had to root it?! I shouldn't have to root my phone for it to do basic things like call out! It's illegal for any mobile phone to not to be able to call out all at! Activated or not! And then expect me to upgrade to the "upgraded model", when the upgraded model has a lower resolution that most apps don't support, or a slower data connection? The Epic, no 2.2 update. Enough said. Yeah, I don't know what I'm talking about despite having 2 duds. Also, I've sold the phones enough to know what people want. I've sold the Cliq and the XT to people, about 70% of them came back not happy with it. When I worked at Radioshack, I easily recommended people would go the HTC route. I'd also appreciate it if you didn't disrespect me, I haven't disrespected you yet so there's no reason to get all hot and bothered now.

The Cliq XT was made horrible to begin with like the Cliq was. Motorola has supported the X as well, and still is. Let me ask you this, why since the release of the Cliq has people been complaining about it, and have terrible sales for it? But then the Droid which was released around the same time, people gave great reviews for? Flagship phone for blur? It was the first low end phone from Motorola, as it was suppose to be! No that doesn't excuse Motorola of terrible updates and support, but the device has always had issues and was never made to be a serious android phone. Proof of this, the Droid was the first phone to launch with Android 2.0. What was the Cliq? 1.5, 1.6? What crappy low end chip was it running? MSM7201A, Arm11? What did the Droid launch with? TI Arm Cortex a8?
You're taking what I'm saying out of proportion. I'm not saying that Samsung, Motorola are great, nor are they on the same level as HTC. But HTC is not as great as you think they are. What you've posted is a very biased post, ranting on and on on how Motorola and Samsung are bad, trolling them basically, and you don't expect someone to argue it? I can understand you like HTC, but you've gotta admit they have their issues too, which you didn't even post about! I'd post this on my Evo right now, but just from texting today and searching the web for 10-15 minutes my battery is already dead! When I had my Dads Droid X for awhile, I could go a full day on it and not need to charge it until I fell asleep.
Also, the Moment did not support hardware opengl. Software only.
As you can tell, Motorola updates only Verizon phones. Samsung updates their phones... eventually. HTC is the best in terms of upgrading and I did hear that the myTouch Slide is getting froyo.
That's because their high end phones are on Verizon. The Milestone is the rare occasion in this case.

I heard that was similar to the Droid.
HTC does have more experience in the smartphone market (for the most part, they only release smartphones) so maybe that explains why they can update quickly.
Exact same except for the GSM radio. Now why Motorola has not committed to updated Milestone, nobody knows. They've updated their other Milestone lineup, and even just released the Milestone 2.

Lol I'm not even going to argue with you because its pointless. I have already provided evidense via my countless links and articles that htc is the best in terms of customer support, build quality and updates. If you don't want to believe that...lol that's your poisen. Good luck getting those timely updates. Good luck on your future lawsuits against samsung and buying a motorola phone only to find out that its not a top end phone and won't be getting the support you expected. Unless you provide the same credible sources, I won't even bother reading your responses.

Eh, I love HTC and in many ways they do excel but I gotta say they are lacking in the display department. Fortunately I own 14 phones (11 of which are HTC) so any time I want to watch a movie I pull out the focus. Other times, eh, venue pro or HD7. HD2 if I ever feel like tweaking stuff again.

You have nothing to argue with. While you have posted bad and negative reviews towards Samsung and Motorola, there's as much positive feedback with them. Same goes with HTC. They are not perfect, none of them are. As far as credible sources go, simple.

It keeps annoying me how you're putting words in my mouth over and over, and treating people here with disrespect. That does not make you look smarter, or better than anyone else, so I suggest that you stop acting as such. I'll say it again, as I've said it about two or three times now, I'm not saying HTC is terrible. But they have their faults. They are not as perfect as you think they are. Arguing with you is getting nowhere, you're just going to go back into your own little world where you believe HTC is the best thing since sliced bread, but last time I checked the phone that's scoring about the highest in performance are Galaxy S phones believe it or not. Motorola has a line up coming, and you still need to watch out for the real underdog the Defy. And countless links? Last time I checked, 6 is not countless.
Oh, did you see that the GSM Hero finally got it's 2.1 update in June in Taiwan? Correct me if I'm wrong, but HTC is from Taiwan, and they were one of the last to get an update that they should have had first? Hmmm....
I'm gonna keep adding on the more I think of stuff, like this!
Why don't you ask the Aria users all around the world who has 2.2, and who doesn't?! Or ask why HTC still uses the 65nm Snapdragon in the Windows 7 phones when the 45nm version is available and has a better gpu core at most likely the same or less cost thanks to that nm difference.
Hey! Ask all the G2 users if they've had a hinge break yet! Hey, ask the g1 users about the broken or loose slider!
Oh here's a good one, why don't you ask the My Touch 3g users why they're getting an official Froyo update so late, and why even though the Mytouch and the Hero are the same, why the Hero isn't getting any official Froyo update? Wait a minute! Wasn't the Mytouch released before the Hero...Pretty sure the Magic was...Funny how that works, right? Just like Samsung, and Motorola! Wait, although it came late and it still performs bad the Cliq did get a 2.1 update...Let's not forget the Legends 15 minutes in the spot light, and how it was easily pushed out of the way for something better! Support went bad for the Legend too, another late release for Froyo and HTC. Seems HTC is just like Motorola then, you know where they update their higher end and higher selling devices first?
Hey Op, I like HTC, but you make me sick with your fanboy crap. Go slap yourself.
Motoblur is a rare garbage. I believe only no-lifers want to know "what their friends up to on every social network." This is the only reason I still try not to buy the defy. Why the hell a guy, who does sport stuff and would like a durable phone, needs effin facebook 24/7? Wrong target Motorola.
PS: Didn't Motorola said that they would discontinue Blur? I guess not..
Back to HTC. I own myTouch 3G and love it. It is trully a killer phone of it's time. Now there is no real killer phone from HTC. Quantity took over quality. They make ten new models every few month... I believe they should slow down and desing a real phone, that would kick all asses.

Imo, they all suck and are only getting worse. And the real disrespect, is the disrespect shown by manufacturers towards their customers.
Sure, sure... if we squeak loud enough they'll throw us an update bone every now and again. (Provided you've bought the phone in their lineup they deem worthy to update). Of course that comes after they've got the next money-making piece of hardware ready to roll.

Ok first things first...STOP POSTING ABOUT HARDWARE ISSUES. Yes all phones have hardware issues which can be fixed/ handled by sending your phone to be replaces. This thread is about the updates and customer support. I dont know why you cant read through my entire posts before writing. Your making yourself look ridiculous. No one is disputing the fact that their are hardware issues with ALL phones, what i disputing is the lack of support and customer compliance with samsung and motorola vs HTC. LOOK AT THE FIRST ARTICLE IN MY ORIGINAL POST BY PHANDROID.
Lol the thing that bothers me most about this post is that you continue to say im disrespecting people. Im an original Motorola cliq owner. I only said that i felt sorry for current and recently past Samsung and Motorola customer customers due to their companies horrible customer service and updates. I BACKED UP those remarks by posting recent articles from CREDIBLE WEBSITES, NOT JUST FORUMS OF A COUPLE ANGRY PEOPLE, that took the time out to RECOGNIZE THAT THERE WAS A HUGE MAJORITY of people dealing with these issues.
Lol and btw, the mytouch and hero users you mention were at least kept up to date with when their updates would be coming. Although the UPDATES DID TAKE A WHILE, HTC MADE SURE TO AT LEAST tell them the reason why and when they could expect them. Due to the lack of hardware support for such an old device. Btw i mentioned this in my original post post which shows me instead of being a calm objective reader you got a flamed head and skipped over that. Samsung and Motorola are notorious for ACTUALLY SETTING DATES and then ON THAT DATE SAYING THAT THERE WILL BE AN UNDEFINED DELAY. I remember waiting about 4 months after for my update and then on the day of getting a message on a forum admin that "oh hey sorry guys there is no update, not sure when its coming but they are working on it". No reason as to why they did not have the update ready or even if they were actually working on it. That my friends what i call horrible customer relations and customer support.
Oh and how can i relate this with Samsung...My girlfriend had a Behold 2...enough said.
Oh and while your at it, why dont we just stick to android devices please, i actually have no idea how htc handles their other platforms. I am only relating android device from the 3 manufacturers.

lol this is very true unfortunately.

What made you buy an XT720?

Lol, just curious because when I bought it I knew nothing about android. I was using an old nokia 6500 and had no concept of smart phones what so ever. I thought maybe I should shift from nokia so I checked the motorolla website and saw the XT720. It looked sexy, and sleek plus the 8 mp camera. Anyways some of the users know alot about android and phones in general. If I knew what I know now, I probably wouldn't have bought the XT720.
So what made you buy it?
The pice. I knew about the problems of Android, and i knew that Moto wouldn't supply Froyo for the xt720. But i got it (i think becaouse of the support) for ca. 230€), so it was a real deal. I refuse to pay 500-600€ for a phone.
I always hoped someone from the community would be able to hack the phone, and they did!
Great job to all btw.!!!!!
when i swap my i3gs with xt on july last year i dont know anything about android..i swap because i saw hdmi thingy and xenon flash....but after 5 days , im just noticed about bootloader locked from net then im looking all android forum and no support for xt at that time..wtf ...luckily im using linux and i knew android based on open source so i just go for it...start rooting by adb then apply app2sd using milestone telus method, install ms overclock...from there i start porte theme from others rom.. ..now i can say my xt much better than htc desire or i3gs,,
Thats awesome. I really like the Nexus S I might get that or which ever version next! I'm also new to linux, been using ubuntu for a few months since 10.10. Im not much a computer geek but I can find my way around. Did you have any computer education? Or was it a personal hobby? If its the latter could you point me in a good direction for beginners using linux and who want to learn programming and basic android stuff?
Definately the price. it was probably the cheapest phone i could get with that kinda specs. although the guy at the shop showed me a defy for the exact same price, i refused it simply for the fact that i liked the xt720's shape a lot and it had xenon flash with 8mp camera. but only a few days after buying xt720, i realised that the defy got a 2.2 update while the xt720 didnt. that made me angry that i was goimg to sit on 2.1 forever and could only download a limited no. of apps due to low internal memory. fortunately there was something called link2sd and i could download apps to my hearts content!

you can start with this http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html
The reason I bought the XT720 was because I needed a new phone after my HTC Desire broke down (and it tooks weeks before it came back out of repair). I already had my mind set on the XT720 for a long time when it was still announced as the Motoroi. I love the design and the great 8 MP camera and I'm a Motorola-fan so that is what made me buy it
my reasons were
- the price
- good camera (didn't know that 720p recordings are that low -.-)
- the awesome look of the xt720
Same here....
-PricePricePrice 180 € New+8GB SDHC Class 6

-Android (...came from HTC´s with WinMob 6.5)
Damn, why was the phone so cheap for you guys? Did you buy it on contract? Where I live we dont have the carrier concept. You buy the phone and then just buy a sim card. My phone cost friggin 500 $'s
1) Price and lack of many other good choices on my network
2) Loved how sleek and awesome it looked
3) Camera with real Xenon flash
EDIT: Good price not with contract but a tab (kinda like a contract in a way I guess)
-sexy phone blue color and good design ,i think it looks very unqiue and special
-8M camera 720p recording zennon flash auto focus.
-moto build qulity
-hardware's fine (didn't konw that 256 ram is a weekness for this device)
-fair price
-3.7" screen (not too big to put it into my pocket that's why i like)
* 8M pixel camera
* Promise from Official Moto sales man to be upgraded by end- of year 2010 to Froyo
Both proved to be faulty/wrong/sucked.

Okay, the promise was some miscommunication so I can understand your frustrations. But what the hell are you talking about is wrong with the camera? It's by far not a 14 MP-quality or something but hey, for a phone, this is a really good camera and it's really 8 MP (I know 'cause I compared it several times to my Olympus digital camera which has 8 MP too).
Motorolas ROKR E6 makes me buy this mobile
- The solid built quality of the phone with the blue rubber finishing. I always trust Moto's hardware quality.
- The Xenon Flash (nothing beat it in the dark. not even iPhone. This phone is my favorite night-shooter)
- The good deal from Starhub ($0, exchange with my Samsung Jet for 2 yrs contract + promo package.)
my phone just celebrated its 1st birthday last Saturday, and still, it looks just like I've bought a few days ago. Though I've got an Acer running the latest Gingerbread, I choose my XT occasionally.
I had been "using" an ancient Nokia candybar for years (that blue one Cincinnati Bell gave out for free when they upgraded their network). I'm not a cell phone user, really--I live in email. A friend got an android and showed me the google integration and I suddenly had to have one. This was unfortunately during that window between Google announcing the end of Nexus One but before they announced Nexus S and when the press was portraying the Nexus One as a failed experiment and speculating that Nexus was done for good. Since Cincinnati Bell no longer had the Nexus One, and they seemed to view the XT720 as its successor, I did some research. The Cincinnati Bell salesperson was adamant that froyo was going to be released for XT720 before the end of the year and the display for the phone mentioned flash support. I read about Motorola's locked bootloaders, but I naively assumed this meant that Motorola was demonstrating a commitment to provide a high-quality and secure managed experience on the phone (i.e. I assumed Motorola intended to differentiate itself by providing a high-quality user experience in order to compete with Apple). I never suspected that Motorola would abandon the phone full of security holes. They're f*cking military contractors for chri*t sakes.
Cincinnati Bells terrible selection of phones made this an easy choice.
Plus HDMI out and 8 MP camera sounded very appealing.
