Is it possible to boot WM from card? - General Questions and Answers

The title says it all, is it possible to boot and install windows mobile on memory card?
Thanks in advance!

No, there is not a (known) way to boot windows mobile on SD card. When Microsoft was designing Windows Mobile 5, some experimentation was done with booting Windows Mobile from a storage card, but it was thrown away due to concerns such as the removal of the card while the os was still running. If someone knows a way, please correct me.

many htc devices support flashing from the sd
look at the wiki for your device to see if it support it

Rudegar, I think the question is not about flashing, but booting the actual OS and running everything from an SD card. In which case, my answer above still stands.

i know you can flash from SD but I'm wondering about booting from SD.maybe some tinkering with the kernel?I'm sure some people asked themselves this.

Then, you shouldn't write such app. Only one WP7 phone has user accessible flash card/microSD card slot. Even with that, the card is integrated into the storage pool that can't be removed without a hardreset of the phone.
WP7 does not officially support external SD cards.

You can get Android to run on some Windows Phone-based phones but not vice versa, usually missing features or stability due to lack of hardware documentation. (I came from a device running xdandroid...)
Android kernels can be modified to run on new hardware, Windows Phone devices cannot since they are closed-source.

Need help unlocking an SD card for use in other devices

Hi All,
I'm trying to use the Windows 7 cab sender tool to unlock my SD card in my samsung focus running 7720. http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/09/19/how-to-unlock-revive-sd-card-after-install-windows-phone-7/
When I get to step 7, I get an error message saying something about certificate chain could not be built.
Can anyone help me unlock my SD card? Thanks!

Donno if this is what you want, but an SD card previously used in a Windows Phone can be detected/used if it is formatted using a Symbian device like Nokia N8.
thanks, but I don't know anyone with a symbian device.

[Completed] [Q] skinny nz v795

Hi I am completely new to this and am having trouble finding the right threads, so I apologise in advance if I am doing something incorrect. I have (or rather my son has) a ZTE V795 ANDROID VERSION 2.3.6 BASEBAND VERSION MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V4.P11
2013/09/13 14.37 KERNEL VERSION 3.4.5 BUILD NUMBER V795_T01 which I believe has a very small non-sd card internal memory. It also has a new 16GB external sd card memory. I have a Windows Vista computer dual booted with Lubuntu/linux and another running Windows 8.1 which I can hook up to the phone if necessary. First I would like to create a recovery image of the phone, so I can restore the phone to its current state, should I get something wrong. Then I would like to root the device (Does Framaroot work on this model?) with an aim of swapping the internal for external memory (understanding that it voids warranty etc.). The final icing on the cake would be to expand the "RAM"/cache, again using the sd card in place of the internal memory - please excuse any incorrect terms. Has anyone attempted these things before, and if so where can I look/ Thanks in advance,. Rob.

There is no forum for your device on XDA, but inside the ZTE Blade forum, there is a thread for questions about non ZTE devices, you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987960. There you should redirect your question. Good luck!

All I want is for my SM-J500Y to work and be able to runs a few apps!

Hi,
I have the 8Gb version of the Galaxy J5 (SM-J500Y) and am experiencing the same problem of low internal memory that everyone else seems to be. I have a 64Gb micro SD but my computer is not recognising an SD card in the built-in SD card reader (nor does it recognise the internal camera but that's a separate issue- since windows 10 upgrade)
After doing a little research, I think I understand that MiniTool Partition Wizard should see the SD card when USB linked if it is first rooted (I could be wrong). Other option is I could go buy a card reader or get the reader working. Tips welcome.
Either way it needs to be rooted before I can use Link2SD. As I understand it, I can root the thing, but only from Android 5.1.x builds. I tried rooting it from Android 6.1 and killed it. Was able to resuscitate it with the Kies App, but can only recover it to the latest Android (6.1)... so I end up at square one: unrooted and not able to root.
How do I get it working in Android 5.1.x so I can root it? How can I partition the SD card (preferably by getting the internal reader working)? And then which is the best ROM to flash? I'm leaning toward the Cyanogenmod 12.1 I found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-cyanogenmod-12-1-samsung-galaxy-j5-t3468830 mostly because it seems stable and lite.
Help please. TIA
Anyone?
Even a little help to get me started would be awesome...
