Changing the Internet image? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi all,
Is it possible to change the image of the light blue globe (has 'Launch Brower' written underneath it) when you navigate to the 'Internet' page page of the HD2?

I haven't seen any alternative (that's why I ended up doing my own!).
If you want to make your own, you basically only have to replace the image in the file '0eea1f69_manila' in your windows folder.
To extract the image from the manila file, you will need something like CFC_GUI.
Then you modify the .png image you get (keeping the same size and positioning) using Photoshop or something.
Then you replace the original image in the manila file with your new one (again using CFC_GUI).
Finally, you need to copy your new '0eea1f69_manila' file back into your windows folder. There's a trick to this if you haven't done it before, so you may need help with this. Alternatively, you can create a .cab file consisting only of your new manila file and install it that way. I've added my .cab file (to change the image to the one in the screenshot above) to this post for your reference. This will definitely work with Manila version 2.5.1920 and probably with other versions too, but I don't know that for sure. Install as you would any .cab file. Uninstall using Settings/Remove Programs.
Good luck!

BtT: Easily customizing your splash screen for JAM, PDA2k

What you'll need:
CAB editor, such as OCP WinCE CAB Manager
Madkat's WM2k3 Boot Image Tool (attached)
Adobe Photoshop or other image editor
a compatible HTC device such as the Magician or Blue Angel
Summary:
Customized SplashX.nb files to be installed in \Windows directory of your device
Included:
Customizable Splash2.psd file for use with Adobe Photoshop
Steps:
1. Change the Splash2.psd file as necessary, then save a 24-bit BMP file called Splash2.bmp.
2. Use Madkat's Tool to convert the BMP file to an NB file.
3. Use the CAB editor to replace the Splash2.nb file with your version. WinCE CAB Manager may state an "Unspecified Error" when replacing the file. Instead, delete the original file, then drag the new NB file into the CAB file, hardcoding the \Windows folder as the install destination.
4. Save the CAB file and run it on your device!
Magician devices have only one splash screen, and it must be saved as Splash2.nb.
Blue Angel devices have two splash screens, Splash1.nb and Splash2.nb. Use the above steps to incorporate both splash screens as necessary.
Splash screens will be retained even after a hard reset, so use this after the Anansky's Big Storage hack, or if you just want to personalize your device, such as in the unfortunate event that it's lost or stolen - unless they know this trick, they won't be able to get rid of it!
Have fun!
Thanks mate works like a dream!!
Maybe it's just me, but I've read this post here and at Howardforums and I'm clearly missing something.
I've only ever used the nb_image_converter_859_418.exe to convert "any" bmp to the Splash2.NB file.
Then I drop that into my Windows Folder and use MDA3_bootimage_changer2.cab to apply the file. (Yes I'm using a Magician with this file!)
Soft reset and that's that. No need to do any cab file editing.
Cheers
Howard
PS. I've have both tools on my pc and can repost them, but they are from this site!

I wonder if anyone can put some help my way.....
I used the xda2 image changer before and I had custom images on my XDA2.
I use this and all I get is a black screen on startup. If I open the .nb file with the converter it shows as it should. (this same .nb works on my XDA2!)
I now have a plain black boot up screen!!
DOH!!!!
Any ideas......?
THanks
First i had the t-mobile splash... wich i didn't like.
Now, whatever bootsplash cab i make, or download here.. after running it, my bootscreen stays blank ( as in black ).
oh well... its an improvement over t-mobile pink

My way to splash changer.
Hi,
I thanks to BTT for Splash Changer how to. But it is troublesome to everytime run WinCE cab manager in order to put Splash2.nb to the .cab file.
I try to remove Splash2.nb from the .cab file (and renamed the .cab to splash_changer.cab). Afterthat, put the Splash2.nb manually to \windows on PPC. Voila....., no need to everytime run WinCE cab manager!!!!!
Process:
1. Edit .bmp file to your like (Must be 240x320 pixels, 24bit).
2. Use nb_image_converter_859_418 to convert .bmp file to .nb, and change the .nb file to Splash2.nb.
3. Put Splash2.nb file directly to your \windows on PPC. You can do activesync and explore it.
4. Put splash_changer.cab to \temp for you to easier found it.
5. Run file explorer on PPC, and tap on splash_changer.cab.
6. Done! You can check by soft reset the PPC.
Hope it is helpful!

Arto.

Samsung Wizpro theme. Any ideas how to edit AdvHomePlug.dll?

Hi everyone
A few days ago i bought a Samsung C6625 (Valencia). The thing that looked nice on it was the wizpro theme and i whanted to see if i can modify it.
I finaly found a few information about it, but still i dont know where to start
Is there anione here that could take these files and see what cand be done?
If there are other information needed i would gladly give them Just tell me what to do.
The atached archive contains the dll file i found reference to in the registry. AdvHomePlug.dll and the theme xml that lead me to the registry clsid key.
What sort of modifications ur looking at?
You can use resource hacker to extract and edit the images in AdvHomePlug.dll. Those are all the interface images including the leftbar menu and the main window, contacts, wmp, etc...
All images are in PNG Format. U can extract and replace. If it is theme colors its in the voda xml file. I dont see any digital signatures on the dll and mui files you posted, how did u transfer the files? normal copy or ROMExtractor?
If you didnt do normal copy these require digital signatures before copying back, search xda how to self sign apps. Also it helps if u app unlock ur phone.
I copied the file normaly using explorer. About the modifications... I`ve seen on other samsung models the same wizpro theme but with different arangement of tabs.
And i was thinking maybe there are some mods for this like with chome just asking i dont know

I dont have the phone on me to check it, maybe tomorrow i can borrow it, I do however remember some regitry entries for playing with tabs, its been a while since i had this phone. check under HKCU\Software under mpharos or samsung.
I found those registry entries but i can only modify images for the theme. Are there any other registry entries where i can modify things like... plugins that show up, the order of those plugins, things like that?

That registry key just points to dll file.

Is there some way tomake it available for 176x220 screen?

Wizpro does not works on BJII - I have tried cooking it in ROM, but nothing happens - just a blank screen with background picture. Maybe some drivers are missing. Haven't figured it out yet.
Problems
I have a Samsung i637 phone.
I have problems with Wizpro. When I receive a sms, I can read the sms, but when I try to return to home page (wizpro), I can not see it.

Tip for creating cabs:
If you already have HDWall installed (e.g. to make transparent taskbars and softkeybars), you can use the built-in 'create cab' function to create your cabs - this saves installing an extra piece of software...
On the subject of tutorials, I can tell you from experience that creating your own 'digital' clocks is a lot easier than creating your own sliders.
The easiest way to go about creating a new digital clock is:
1. Take somebody else's clock cab (I've attached one of mine to this post)
2. Unzip it (Winzip will do it) to get the original files
3. Re-name the 'working' files back to their original 'manila names' (if you look inside the _setup.xml file, you can see the both the manila filename and the working filename e.g.
<characteristic type="1435ccbf_manila" translation="install">
<characteristic type="Extract">
<parm name="Source" value="FILE0001.001" />
means the file named FILE0001.001 should be re-named to 1435ccbf_manila etc. (note: the xxxxxx.999 file is not needed here!)
4. Once you have extracted and re-named all the manila files, you can use CFC_GUI to extract the PNG images for my clock to use as a guideline to making your own
5. Make your own PNG images
6. Use CFC_GUI again to insert your new images into the manila files
Note: My cab consists of 8 manila files:
4 files for the 4 sections of the clock (2 up and 2 down)
1 background for the clock (see attached screenshot)
1 file each for AM and PM
1 file with the numerals
If anyone is interested in seeing some of the other 'Glass Clocks' I made, you can find them all in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=650245
Have fun and good luck!

nice job mate, keep it up, my advice is to take a cab from the site, slider, clock or what ever you want to customize, extract it with wince cab manager (the best cab management software, in my opinion) and manila editor and photoshop can do right about everything to a image the important thig if you take part of some one elses work or inspire to ask permision and mention that you have inspired from that persons work
sorry for the confusion. the green clock and slider is what I,ve done, the lead clock is by dr ammar-jaguaralani.
Ok so I've modified the image files from a slider cab, converted back to QTC's and overwritten them back into the unzipped cab file.
How do I make it all back into a cab?
Got Quickcab.......select all the files from the left window but where to select to put them in the right window?

Did you extract your manila files from another .cab? (If so, have you maybe done it via winzip or something similar?)
The files you copied don't have the correct names... (manila files are always named "xxxx_manila")
If you give me all the files, I could make the .cab for you.
Otherwise, just PM me and we'll discuss this further

Very Basic Question
Up to now I have only "consumed" as a user, but I start to dig deeper...
Basic Question: The manila files contain only pictures (skins, buttons etc.)? There is no code in?
So if I modify one of the manilas, I just change the appearance of that specific part of the screen?
If anyone could confirm or explain the function of the manila files, would be great.

Help with Changing Clocks CHT

I'm trying to change the analogue clock on my HD2 but it won't change from the default clock (well sort of i've managed to change it from a square one to a round one), i've followed the instructions on moving the file into the device-windows folder.
but there's a file in there with the same name already and it doesn't replace the original file, if i try to delete the file 20F62884_manila it doesn't give me the option, the delete and rename options are not selectable, they are on the file i've pasted into the windows folder but not the original file, is it protected in any way ?
I'm using the file explorer that came with the Elegancia V8.0 Rom is this ok or do i need to use something else...
Many thanks...

Many manila fills are protect to overwrite, changing or deleting!
The easiest way is to use a cab file! It will overwrite and it give you the possibility to uninstall so you get back to the original one!
Ore maybe you can simply used a program called CfC GUI!! Perhaps the most simply way if it is fore personal used!
more explication ore where to find it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470798
The file explorer which is on your device will not overwrite protected files.
But, search for "Total Commander" for Windows Mobile - it´s not the "freshest" software, but free, and it *does* overwrite protected files.
To make it more finger friendly, just change to large icons view!
Or, after all, as the previous poster mentioned, use cab files - those will automatically install and overwrite files.
