i have tried 3 different versions of MSVC on 4 different ROMs on my Tilt 2, and not one of them announces the text messages. they all announce emails, which i find strange, but not text messages. this is the exact opposite of what i want it to do. i've got the settings set up correctly. i've been using this program for a few years. i've pretty familiar with it. i've been using it long enough that i am comfortable changing the registry settings to adjust the TTSAnnounce speed and the volume of the announcements. does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing it not to work?
i've even gone so far as to add a new key in the registry called "SMS" and copy the settings in it so that it is just like the Email registry key (which works on the announcements), and my text messages are still not announced.
any help would be greatly appreciated. like i said, the settings are correct, so don't bother posting for me to highlight messages, click options, etc. it's already done.
thanks in advance for any assistance anyone might be able to provide.
I have exact the same problem just like yours. HD and Xanny gridleo 3.0rom, I cannot fix it either.
anyone? thanks.

I don't know why I'm having such a hard time getting this device to do similar things as my TyTn. This is the latest thing that has me stumped. Maybe the 1st question I should ask is does the Treo have the ability to assign a ring tone by contact? It appears to but the phone will only ring the tone assigned to the Phone: Known caller profile in the "ringtones" preference. Even if the known caller has a different ring tone assigned within contacts. I already tried moving the tone into the "windows" directory & that doesn't work. I also have Goodlink running however this was also running on my TyTn & never had the problem. What else could it be?
Anyone have the same issue?
I also cannot sign onto www.howardforums.com. I get thru the sign on screen, it says welcome teride, but then everytime I try to access a page I get booted back to the sign on screen. I have been successful logging onto my bank web & accessing financial records. Any clue what I need to tweak?
Thanks,
Tde
Try using Sounds app to add your tones, before assigning them to contacts. The Treo seems to be hard coded to use only tones/alerts added via this program, I did this and have no problems using different tones for different contacts.

As for problems getting into websites etc have you tried clearing cache and history? also a soft reset might help.

Brilliant....you fixed both of my problems. I was just putting the tone in the "rings" folder vs adding via the Sound app...now they work just fine...yeah. I wish I would have found this out before I migrated to Cingular from ATT. With the ATT SIM my phone always displayed the roaming icon & all tones defaulted to the Phone: Roaming tone profile even when tone assigned to contact..it was driving me crazy...little did I know it more than likely would have worked just fine had I added the tones via the Sound app..oh well.
As for HF--I completely forgot about clearing cache & history.....just call me dumbo...thanks so much for your help.
no worries. glad everything worked out ok
i just dropped the files into the my documents folder and it show up on the list to choose from...

I did that too & they were displayed to choose from. But would not work when used, meaning I assigned to contact but ringer assigned would not work. Not until I added to the list using the sound app...don't know why but it works now.
that is funny, well glad that you found a way to assign your ringtones...
On a previous phone I owned, the message delivery notification was just a little icon that appeared in the sent items list. On my N95 notifications were saved in a seperate folder without popping up on screen or ringing/buzzing.
On the raphael, delivery notifications are just normal text messages, which isn't the most practical solution. Is there software for WM that can change this behaviour? Turning it into an icon view would probably be difficult technically, but not displaying a bubble when the notification arrives and silently moving it to a seperate folder would also be a nice solution.
So, is there any way to enable this on the Raphael?
Anyone?...
I tried the program SMS reports eraser, but that doesn't do the job either :/
Is there software that just intercepts the report, marks it as read and places it in a seperate folder?
You should try MagiCall.

Thanks for the tip. I installed it, and made a rule saying that all SMS messages containing the word 'delivered' should be marked as read and moved to a seperate folder. I then saved, performed a softreset, and sent a SMS to a friend.
Unfortunately, this one doesn't work either Could it be that the TF3D interface is overruling the Messaging app, and with it blocking programs that try to tie into the messaging part?
I also find the way these are handled annoying compared to my old N95. The notifications don't even have the person's name, just the number which makes it even worse!
I tried SMS reports eraser and it stopped me from being able to send messages and when people sent them to me I never got them even though the other person got a delivery report!
A suitable program or idea for these would be great. This is my first windows mobile phone and that's probably my biggest issue with it, apart from that it's great.
Ignore this!
Start>Settiings>Sounds & Notifications Select Notification tab. Go to New Text Message. From there, you can select Display Notification on Screen. That keeps the popup to nothing more than the envelope in the top bar once you deselect it.
Hope that's what you are looking for.

Delivery reports have no phone number but with a sender name, such as 'System Administrator'. To filter them, just use MagiCall to filter that sender name. Example:
Rule type: SMS
Filter type: Sender name
Name list: System Administrator
Action1: Move to folder
To: spec_folder
Leave all other settings default values. It should work.
Solution
Well, i seem to have the same problem, but i have found using Advance Config software to actually solve this problem. I am not sure if that is what u guys are looking for but after using the Advance Config, i will get a msg saying "msg sent" whenever i send an sms, but not get any report. So i am assuming when it says "MSG sent" it is already a delivary report which i got from my previous WM from from other PDA.
So here is how u do it. First install Advance Config, then go into settings, under messaging tab, change "sms sent notification" from disabled to enabled.
And restart your phone. Once done, everytime u send an sms, u will recieve a buble box saying " msg sent" thats all. No rubish in your inbox.
Let me know if this help. Thanks!
Is there any way to see the persons name in the notification instead of the number? This has been annoying me since I got my phone

While this works, this isn't exactly what the previous posters wanted. They wanted the delivery reports and not the sent reports.
Symbian S60 intercepted these delivery report messages and then displayed them as "popup dialogs" to users before storing them into a separate folders. This is also one of my gripes about WM6. But I can live without delivery reports.

Install the attached cab file and it will solve your problem......It worked perfectly on my TP
oK, thanks, I´ll try it tomorrow
I'm having the same problem, I was post a new thread but I searched and found this.
I like delivery notifications, but the fact that it comes as a normal SMS instead of a popup notification like on other phones is really annoying.
I'm not getting any notifications (sent or delivered) and I want to get at least 1. I live in an area where I have pretty spotty service and it's annoying to find out an hour later that my text never actually sent. Is there any way I can turn it on?
I checked the htc manual and it says I should be able to enable a delivery report before sending the message or in message options. However, my message options are light grey so I can't click on them. It's been like this since I took the phone out of the box.
Thanks so much.
Hi everyone, I'm new here, and to the HTC Touch Pro, and I tried searching for a solution to this problem but I couldn't find it.
I have Verizon as I said, and I used to have the LG Voyager phone. I just upgraded to the HTC Touch Pro, and have noticed an annoying problem with my text messages.
With the Voyager, when I'd text over 160 characters, as long as I was sending to another Verizon customer, it would send one long text message, it wouldn't break it up or anything. Also I could receive messages over 160 characters from anyone who could send them to me.
With the HTC Touch Pro, if I send over 160, it breaks it into multiple messages, which is annoying to the person I text. Also and more importantly, I can't receive messages over 160 characters. I get the text cut off at the 160 point, followed by a message saying something to the effect of the previous message was edited to remove extra features, or something similar to that.
Other than the change to my data plan necessary for a PDA/Smart phone, I made no other changes to the account when I switched phones.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
I've looked around a lot and have found 1 or 2 peoplethat have the same problem but nobody has any answers. Anyone have any ideas?
The thing is, that this isn't a problem... it's a default feature which.. unfortunately, I doubt can be changed.
Of course, i might be wrong..
Well thanks for clearing it up anyway. I didnt realize the voyager was actually doing somethingout of the norm to allow those messages to send. Thanks for the reply.
I have the same problem, and its very annoying.
There has to be a way to fix it, maybe flashing a new radio eh?
I'm not sure cause im new to the whole smartphone thing, i just barely got this tp a couple weeks ago.
that is what the phone company allows it's not something that can be changed.
I have a Fuze that's been unlocked to work for t-mobile. I've been getting help from you guys/gals on here (thanks a lot), but I need a few more tips.
1. I can't seem to RECEIVE picture messages from people (also, I think that I'm getting in my "inbox" any message that I sent outgoing??). Is there a setting I need to adjust, or is it a ROM issue? any other software that I can use to change/update my text messaging management?
2. I don't know if I have a regular or cooked ROM, and I don't know what version I have, do you know where to find this info out?
I'm not very technical, but I'm trying to learn.. please explain very plainly if you can...
Thanks.
I am on tmobile also with an unlocked fuze and get picture messages just fine. Can you explain more as to what is happening? do you get regular text messages? and is it only picture messages that you dont receive can you receive voice text messages?
[on a side note] I'm not sure what has been done to my phone since I bought it used. it looks as thought the att bloaware has been uninstalled, and I also have a Tab in setting that says "xbmod manilla fro xda dev, TouchFLO 3D 2.0 3737395.3" whether or not that might affect anything. [end side note]
I DO get text messages, and I've never been sent a voice text (I'll have to test this). the weird thing about my messages is that they show up on the main TF3d screen, however they don't seem to be anywhere in the folders
When I tried to test getting an MMS message with a pic added, I had my sister send me 2 messages. one with only text (just saying "hi") and another with only a photo added. They both show up on my main MESSAGES TF3d tab, and the MMS message says "Click to view MMS", however when I click on the message it takes me to menue with my conversations with my sister and there is NO SIGN of the MMS message, only the one that says "hi".
Thanks for the response.. I really want to figure this out.
BUMP
Somebody please help me fix this problem I have ROM At0mAng V5.4, and I just need to configure/setup my phone to work on t-mobile. If you know how to do this or have any idea please help
I use my device for work. I coordinate/schedule jobs in which there are many people who can work certain slots. So, I'll send out one text message to about 75-84 individuals. Then the ones who can work reply. Later, I send out another mass SMS advising of remaining slots to be filled.
My issue is this. In the Android code a section checks for the number of text messages send within the last hour. If you exceed 100 messages - then, Android throws an error for every message afterwards within that hour and the user has to select "OK" to send an SMS. So, at times I have to sit there and select "OK" over and over again for several minutes while the over limit SMS's are sent....
I found an old record on how to fix this issue here.
However, this APPEARS to be an old solution. I was unable to find this setting or the table "gservices" in "/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Does anyone know where this was moved or how to change this setting?
My device is a an LTE Galaxy Nexus.
I'm running AOKP-build 33. But, I would think this setting would be generic to all of the current ICS ROMs.
Thanks for any advice.
BTW - I found some very old posts related to this same issue. Note:
1) Using an app will not address this issue (I use Chomp SMS) as this is coded within Android.
2) Google Voice will not work as it doesn't recognize "groups" for the "to" box.
3) Pulling the battery will just prevent all the texts from going out.
I'm just hoping someone knows where the file/code is located that I need to modify.
All other suggestions will not resolve this issue.
