A cook is someone who takes a Rom from one machine and alters it to work on another PDA. he will also sometimes add extra programs to make it better.

I think that will not put this **** on my phone, it's something like VISTA, but also that the system will load, but is very ugly.

SO your saying: Windows 7 (PC) is ****?
I think i could agree,
As my desktop has:
Windows Vista Ultimate SP2
my new Laptop
Windows 7 Home Premium
and i have to say...
i like vista more

I think seven is better then vista,
but my favourite is win xp professional x64

Windows 7 Ultimate is the best experience I ever had!
I can flash very easy and all runs much faster and smooth than in Vista or even XP...

Hardware Capabilities are not suitable for running Windows Vista
not even the starter edition
Some people have managed to run WinXp or Win98SE
with a lot of effort and unstable
Regards!
Whaaaaaat !?!?!?! Vista lmao, who told you that or where did you read such a thing ?
Windows 95 and 98se or XP are ONLY started on an emulator, not as pure OS. And trust me, they are slow...but ...if you just want to brag, then yes, you can start Windows XP too..but make sure you start the emulation 10 minutes before you intend to show it
i am sure this person is talking about making a skin to look like vista.
Or flash a new rom from Windows Vista...but his request is ambiguous so...we are allowed to guess his questions

My guess:
He wants to throw his Wizard to Bill Gates for not having windows Vista on a mobile phone.
Hahahahahaha
Hahahahaha, Oh amazing! Vista on a mobile device... Hahahaha.
The sad thing is that there are some people out there, and I wouldn't doubt this person is one of them, that honestly think just because it has the LOOKS of an OS, that it equates to actually BEING the OS.
I have a PSP and dabble in the homebrew world a little bit. I've come across some of the biggest morons on the web who think they're installing Windows Vista on their PSP. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJyBAmX4VEo
The guy even mentions that it comes with antivirus protection!

i agree
my point was only these OS has been "run" at a PPC Platform
i tested once at universal (former main device) and it was very very slow, if possible and drivers available (impossible i guess) only win 3.11 will run at a normal performance

the latest WM is 6.1 (released or leaked) as far i know so you can try on that but no fancy aero stuff or anything like the visual honey of the vista
as some of the guys said you can skin your device or install a theme with a bit of vista look
sorry maybe you should get an HTC Shift the only device i know of this manufacturer actually capable of running vista
He's probably saw this somewhere. http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail.asp?id=3006

I wish there was a possibility. However their current target seems to be far from simple pocket pc's.
Nice. If only it could be available till "standard" PPC with 320x240 resolution...
Man this would be sweet on my TILT.
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MobileAndEmbedded
It looks like that they're targeting those UMPC devices such as the HTC Shift. So I have the feeling that it won't work on pocket pc devices, sadly
Yes, I would love to see Ubuntu on all 3 of my htc's. All of my computers are ubuntu except for my htc's.
The interface sure looks nice.... anyone made a shell like it i would use it...

Windows Mobile 7....soon...very soon

Probably everybody already knows that Microsoft was working on totally new Windows mobile version what will have multi touch gestures and fully revamped UI something like Vista style.
The latest news is that it will be shown off at Mobile World Congress next month with expected release date late this year. I hope to see some leeks very soon in these forums
You can read full article here.
Cheers, whitealien
it could be very interesting, get it works on polaris
I'm scared that it'll be too heavy for the Polaris isn't it?
And no multi-touch for us, or am I wrong? Don't know if multitouch is possible with resistive technology :/
polaris cant even touch win7. we might get cooked ROMs with similar UI
Thank you for the news.
what he meant is be prepared to buy a new powerful device ...

from what i know not even HTC LEO is confirmed to run it smoothly as it only meets minimum specs (and all devices below it cant run wm7)...
im gonna be looking for tegra devices...
cheers
sounds pointless, i'm sick of buying phone os's that need a quicker CPU than the average laptop.

Is that a joke?!
Are you saying that W8 can run on Sensation?!
What do you think
Why don't you drop your phone in a bucket of water?
Afterwards it will work better then with Windows...
lol so naive ^^'
you looked so serious !
Well after blowdrying my sensation windows 7 runs like a breeze.
So maybe some Windows 8 drivers in the washing machine and who knows
They are releasing an Arm version of Windows 8 for tablets so I can't see why a version of Win 8 can't be ran on our sensations. Probably will happen in some form or another.
Whoop de doo, cos Microsoft are just so good at making a Phone OS
Well I got iOS onto mine using a guide someone posted a month or so back, so if that works, I don't see why Windows 8 won't be possible!
well technically W8 kernel should run on washing machine too, i'm serious

Windows 8 is designed for big screens like pc and tablet ( ok I know tablet screens aren't that big) but they are bigger than sensations screen and I think it would not run too well as a phone OS and as ziggy said, MS aren't good at creating a phone OS

Are There Emulators That Play Android Apps on WP7?

are there emulators that let you play android apps on wp7?
No, nothing that can "emulate" Android but, a Windows Mobile loader is in the works for Wp7...(you could run WM 6.1+ apps/games on WP7)

I could ask the same about android
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA
Dont get me wrong, if we could run Android games on our phones as an emulator, I would not mind it at all. There are a few titles on there that I was thinking about grabbing a used Android device just to play a few games (a year old model that COULD run ICS after rooting, I can get under $100).
There are a great selection of games for WM6 and if they can run at full speed, it could be impressive.
So I am fine with both....
