Who? if anyone could make this program install (and maybe even work) for me? It's a program for my car.

K, its to big to add here, it's 20mb and even "rar'd" it's 15mb
Sorry, I don't understand the question. Are you saying you want to run a Windows .exe on your phone ?
Exactly right!
Not possible.
Dave
Not as it is, but I am sure there is/are people on here that can "open" up the .exe and make it so it can install and run on the phone.

I very much doubt it, the code is compiled to run on x86 / x64 processors, not the ARM one on the TP2.
.Net apps might be possible to do, but unlikely.
Dave
the guy is probably talking about an installer. you should be able to extract the cab file from the exe with Winrar or something and then copy on the device and install from there.

Are you talking about Windows XP (for example) programs or WinMo apps packaged as exe not a cab?

doesn't matter - if it's written for windows xp/vista/7 etc. it won't run on windows mobile. about the only thing they have in common is the work windows in the name.

I think you're asking how to load an .exe file (program/installation file) onto your device? If so, you'll need to just run it from your computer.
Hopefully that's what you meant...
You cant run an application that is program only to PC into a PPC.
Some .NET application will run on both PC and PPC but their functions will be different..

Well, I assumed he was talking about an .exe installer for a ppc program that needs to be run from the pc.
so i need a exe installer?

You need to be clear about what you're trying to do!
Could someone please help me with this install...
I have the file "ttn.ppc.6.030.8320.cab", but the installation freezes...
Then I unpacked the cabfile, and copied the map to my storage card. I tried to run both "ttn" and "ttn2003" files within the "2577"-directory, but both installs won't work... who knows what to do??
Thanks!

Then you maybe read the thread more carefully...
The way to install TomTom 6 on the HTC VOX is by extracting all the files from the cab, you can do this with a tool like WinCE CAB or something like that. Than you manually put all the files on your phone. That's how I got it to work!
Good Luck!
RvBCrS
I did...
I allready unpacked the .CAB file (with WinRAR, like I described im my first post) and copied the files to my storage card...
Is there a big difference in the unpacking-methods?
It won't work! Can there be a difference in the ROM version?
Mine is Windows Mobile 6 Standard, CE-version 5.2.1215 BETA
(build 17715.0.2.0)
Could you maybe send me the files, extracted from the cab file?
Thanks again!

YES There is! you can't use WinRAR, it's a special cab.. use a tool made by OCP WinCE Cab Manager!
Oke, maybe that's the point...
I tried with WinCE CAB manager, but then I get an error, saying "The file being opened is not a valid Windows CE cabinet file".
Could you please send me your cab-file, or the data extracted from it? I would appreciate it very much....
Thanks!
Greets,
Frank
Any explanation for this? is there a program or setting I need to have?
I put exe files all over this little baby and they do nada. which I don't understand why more people dont just make cab files.
bump!!! Just wanted to know because this is bugging me
try .cab files.
Some EXE files are ment to be installed over active sync, cabs work best for installing the files on the phone itself.
Try that.

I tottally agree but the problem is that people are saying to add it onto the phone. So just to be sure the the exe wont' execute on phone... I need to have active sync open and then run the proggy on my PC?
My Touch Pro wouldn't execute cabs until I reset it the first time.
Does anyone know of an app that I can run from my device (Tmo Wing w/WM6.5) that can extract the cab file from an exe file?
I don't have a desktop computer and I have a lot of executables that install through the pc that I would like to install on my device.
Or is there another way of installing these types of files?
Or can I just change the file extension?
exe files that run from your pc, actually store the cab on your pc and transfer it.
most files you need are probably in cab format on the web already.
the exe wont help if you rename it.
what it does is extract the files to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\app name
Unfortunately, I don't have a computer at the moment. Had to send my motherboard back to the manufacturer to be repaired.
So I am not able to do it the way you mentioned. There's gotta be a way install with pc executables..
The main reason is I have the full version of Fade (ppc game) and I don't see it as a cab on the net anywhere.
If anyone would be willing to share the cab with me, I would be greatful.

Hi there, try what the guys have said above. Also please do not ask someone to provide a cab for a paid app/game, its against xda rules.
Be careful if your doing this, dont distribute the cab if you manage to extract it.
Cheers.
New Opera version: download
You know the drill... unpack and copy opera9.exe over the opera9.exe in the \windows folder (preferably using Resco File Explorer)
Changelog: don't know
Is it better than other versions: find out yourself
thank you
Thanks very much
Thanks dude.

You have to extract the Opera9 file and copy directly to Windows.
It is all.
Best Regards,
Hi, what you have said is a bit vague. the extrated file from the download is an exe file so dnt i need to run it once i copy it over? and what windows directory? do you mean the windows folder on the device memory? not the opera9 folder in the windows directory?
so your asking i copy the exe file into the windows folder on the device memory and just run the exe? is that what i do?
please explain properly (full file path and instructions)
Thank you very much

Yes you have to copy Opera9 file to the Windows device memory, then you will be asked to overwrite, so you should tam yes.
Afterthat you can normally run Opera web browser but in new version.
just in my head?
is it just in my head or is this much faster!?!
ty gonna try it out

Faster optimization, screen rotation? Pleaze post !
I copied the file overiding the original and when I try to start opera, it says "Opera Loader" with a red cross which when pressed it exits...
Any thoughts?

I deleted the existing Opera.exe file from the Windows folder and copied this one, but the app won't start. I think it has something to do with the attributes of the new exe file. The ROM attribute is ghosted. Any ideas?
Thanks
Procedure is clear to me. Just overwrite .exe file with new .exe file
But to spare me hazzle and spending one day to revert: does this change my opera-settings which I tweaked in operaconfig or goof them by incompatibility ?
Does this new build support flash better than the old one ?
What EXACTLY can the new build better than the old one ?

I have similar questions,my opera is skinned and as troed mentioned
several operaconfig tweaks including having moved the Cache.
Anyone know whether these will all need re-doing if we upgrade
to newer version ?
In short is it worth the effort just to have a different version number ?
Anybody notice that with this version Manila internet ta bookmark thumbnail don't work with manila 2016?

Hey Bobsbbq, do you mean the thumbnail not populating a page image? If so, yes I have. The only way I've found to get the image to show up is to open each favorite site in IE.
