Ventev EcoCharge - Nexus One Accessories

Unlike the new (coming soon) AT&T Zero charger the (already available) Ventev EcoCharge should be able to charge two N1s simultaneously with no Vampire draw when the phones are disconnected.
I've not bought my N1 yet, so could anyone that bought/buys one of these report on how it performs with the N1.

Bluetooth Headset Mini-Review

Actually not really a review, just some initial thoughts after opening the box.
Woohoo! Got my Bluetrek bluetooth headset today.
I got it because it was the cheapest available, only $40 after mail-in rebate (warning: rebate only applicable if you're in the United States), and someone said it worked with the XDA II.
http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=90119243&loc=111&sp=1
However I also read many good reviews on it, and many users said they liked it, so I figured I might as well give it a shot.
Review here: http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=112
and here:
I saw a sticker on the front of the box (an extra barcode sticker that looked like it has just been slapped on) that said V1.2. I didn't think anything of it.
Then, when I opened the box, there was a piece of paper with some info on it. It says ATTENTION on the top. It goes on to say
"This is an UPGRADE version with up to 12 hours talk time (12 hours in HV3/9:30 hours in HV2/6 Hours in HV1) and 350 hours standby."
And then it goes on to talk about charging it, etc.
12 HOURS? The Jabra BT200 gets 2-3 hours, and the new BT250 (which isn't even released yet) is rumored to be the exact same as the BT200 but with 8 hours talk time. I don't know what HV 1/2/3 is, but even assuming worst case and it only works in HV1 it still gets twice as much as the BT200. If you average the three times you come up with 9 hours of talk time. That's more than the BT250, at about 1/3 the price! And everywhere online (including their website, etc.) it says "up to 12 hours talk time."
Overview:
- most talktime of any bluetooth headset
- weighs less than 1 ounce
- cheapest of any bluetooth headset
- comes with bluetooth headset itself, a carrying case, a wall charger, and a car charger!
Uhh, I'd say we have a winner here.
-arebelspy
So did it work with XDAII?
Hi arebelspy!
Am curious - did the Bluetrek work with your XDAII?
Does it work with Microsoft's voice command?
Thanks.[/quote]
how did it work???
More Working BT Headsets for the XDA II / iMate
G'day All,
Just thought I'd add to the "review"
The Bluetake GII (as opposed to Bluetrek) headset is the first one that we've found that works well and sounds good with the XDA II / iMATE.
You can get the specs on http://estore.pressd.com in the headset section.
Decent talk time and sound quality.
* The Ericsson HBH65 doesn't work at all. The HBH35 sort of works.
* The Nokia headsets all work temporarily then drop out after 10 mins as Nokia has written their firmware specifically not to stay paired with non-Nokia handsets!!!! (I believe they may be in court over this one!)
* Jabras - Moderate success but weird pairing issues.
Hope that helps.
Andy

[Q] New Hardware version for charge

I will be getting a new droid charge for replacement because my current droid charge got a red stuck pixel in the middle of screen. Anybody who knows they have the newer hardware version of their phones because samsung is supposed to be shipping new droid charge with a better 4g chip. Check out the link below. This new ones might have better performance of 4g in terms of battery life, 4g to 3g switching vice versa. So let me know guys what do you think.

Based on the article, it's still going to use the same radios that it is currently using, just maybe it is a different amplifier for the radios. For all we know, that amplifier is already in the current phones as companies cannot always announce sales/deals like this until after a product is released.
I don't necessarily get that they are just now shipping the radios. But if they are, I'd feel betrayed by both Verizon and Samsung.

That was my feeling, the article doesn't seem to say anything about a new version, or what is in the phone now, but if they do release something and not replace the "old" model, that is pretty bad.
I wonder if it would be easy to spot on a disassembled Charge. This guy disassembled his Droid Charge, so maybe he can find out if existing Charges already have this power amplifier in them.
Considering it's not that new and already has been used in previous Samsung devices (Intensity II, Gusto, Galaxy Tab), I'm thinking it's probably already there. But if it isn't and would help someone like me get a more reliable data connection (I'm in a slow/weak 3G area and also fringing on 4G/4G Extended, so it's been a battle for me), then I would definitely try to obtain this hardware revision if it exists.
On another note, any way we can get a hold of the service manual for this phone? I imagine that would some useful information/pictures/diagrams in there.
Based on the article they are just anouncing that they are in the Droid Charge. It is what is there now, there is nothing new.

Droid Charge hardware upgrade

So, a coworker pointed me at a chrome book, and said, "Look, it's awesome, 10+ hours battery!" I was skeptical, I've heard horrendous things about chromebooks' usefulness, but then I found out chromebooks give you access to TTY, so in theory you can use all the nifty CLI utilities that make Linux/Unix systems so great to work with. So I went back and reexamined how I use my endless supply of various devices, from desktop to mobile phone. For the most part, I use my phone to call, stream, or browse. I use my laptop to connect to my development machine (It's just inconvenient to hold my code on my local machine for a variety of reasons, and it's not really safe practice anyways.) A short while ago, I was looking for a tablet with a data plan, and I couldn't find one - even carriers with unlimited data plans don't support tablets with unlimited data plans. Damn it! Then, as I was researching chromebooks, I realized something spectacular - despite tablets having a thicker, and therefore heaver screens, tablets are in general 1/2 the weight of chromebooks. (wtf?) So I went in search of system on a board computers, and I found MK802, which could cover all the essentials - a keyboard w/ trackpad, wifi, bluetooth, audio, video. But then I realised - I've got a heap of old android devices from the G1 all the way up to my most recent (but still outdated) Samsung I515 (whatever that's called in common-folk-tongue). And I thought to myself, "Why not use the PCB out of one of those old, working-but-outdated phones to make a DIY tablet or chromebook which will probably weigh less than COTS chromebooks, register as a cellphone with the carriers, have unlimited LTE data, and 20hr battery life?" The Droid Charge seemed like the best candidate. Although I have a couple extra I515s, the awesome thing about the Droid Charge is that it has an HDMI port. Work on the fly, come home, hook it up to a proper monitor, instant win!
Unfortunately, I haven't ever worked with drivers, firmware or the likes. I could probably MacGyver a way to hook up a keyboard with a touchpad to use the micro usb jack (I mean I'd just need to emulate hooking the DC to a dock, right?), but the real blocker for me would be the screen. I imagine there MUST be a way to swap the stock LCD and touch screen digitizer on the Droid Charge, and hook up a 10-12in one, probably from some other Samsung product, but that's completely speculation. I was hoping someone on here could help me out with hashing out how to do the screen swap up to a 10-12in screen.
Thanks,
Misha

S6 solid green LED and nothing else

I think I know the answer, but I'll ask anyway - my S6 (T-Mobile variant, black 128GB, not that I think that matters) was on the stock charger with the stock cable for around 4 hours or so and the solid green LED light came on and that's been the end of it. It's not hot, no vibrations, no flicker, no sounds, no anything coming from it. It's been about 6 days now in that state. Just a lovely, solid green LED - no other signs of life.
It won't go into recovery or download mode (yes, I know how). The "simulated battery pull" doesn't work, either (power & volume down). Plugging or unplugging using a variety of cables, connecting to my notebook (with the latest Samsung drivers and Odin and other useful android tools) or chargers doesn't change anything. When I plug it into my notebook the notebook doesn't flinch - it doesn't see anything.
It's rooted, with XtreStoLite_ROM_v2.4_Deo-Mod-Edition (with Unikernel), running quite nicely for some time - no anomalies and much better than stock. So there wasn't any OTA to blame.
I've already called T-Mobile and they sent me a replacement. But I'd prefer not to send back my phone in this state for 2 reasons:
1) It's been modified, obviously - running a custom ROM and reports itself as a 925, not a 920. I know it's not the root cause, but that's not the kind of behavior that makes friends with your carrier, even though I paid full price and had T-Mobile unlock it. They certainly didn't want me flashing it.
2) It's got tons of information on it, and it's not locked with a PIN or anything (why? - because I let my wife use it for 2 days while I looked at her S5 for issues she mentioned). I'd prefer not to have someone else plug it into the magic diag machine and then it reboots just fine.
I kind of regret buying this S6 - I bought an S5 at the same time and quite frankly it feels just about as zippy (once I found the right ROM) plus it has that saving grace that I'm so used to - a removable battery (and MicroSD). And the bluetooth doesn't stutter in my car, unlike the S6! I feel reasonably certain that if I could cycle the power on the S6 I could at least get into recovery or download.
In fact, after having 6 Galaxy's and 2 Notes, I feel like Samsung isn't nearly as "XDA friendly" as they used to be. But I digress.
Once upon a time, about 5 generations of Galaxy phones ago, I recall someone posting how to make a USB Jig to unbrick the S2... Anyone made or used something like that for the S6, or any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I did get one here. Tested it on S6 for them and it did the job
I guess it's worth a shot - I ordered one from Amazon so I can have it tomorrow. I'll post the results.

*Sigh* - no luck with a USB jig (I bought the SainSonic Micro USB Dongle Jig) - I know it's a good unit because it will place my other phones in download mode (including a new S6), but the S6 with the solid green LED is still a vegetable.

Looking for feedback on Sprint Note 20 Ultra 3.1 update from 3.0

I've watched a few youtube videos on the 3.1 update, (but not many available). None of them really saying if they like the update better than 3.0. I know this happened with Oreo to Pie where there were a lot complaints. I been on the Note since the 1st Note 2 consistently so obvious a fan of the Note series.
Now that I'm on 3.0 and I don't really have any gripes I wanted to see if the update is worth it, (beside the object remover and a few other small changes). Basically looking to get a quick census on who actually likes the update and who regrets they updated. I've seen some issues with 5G in another thread but also wanted to hear from some members that either like it or hate it before I jump in.
(if there is a specific thread about this please feel free to move this moderators)
3.1 is rock solid for me. Everything works beyond my expectations. I've noticed 3.1 loves RAM. I hover around 8gb used most of the time where as 2.5 was ~5gb and 3.0 was ~6.5.

I didn't get a notification a reply came through. I appreciate the feedback. I'm at around 7.2 gb on 3. I noticed some people they liked 2.5 while I while others say they're missing features on 3.1 and small camera stuff. I may jump in to 3.1 then. I'm kind of debating rooting it prior to make it more interesting since I'll have this for a while but we'll see.
Let me tell you why 3.1 sucks. All your wireless fast chargers will stop fast charging, unless they are Samsung brand. Otherwise you will only be able to slow charge no matter what power supply or cable you use. It must be Samsung to fast charge.
Do a Google search and you will see countless people who are pissed off about this. I have several wireless chargers throughout the house and in the car, none of them can fast charge now, and there's not way in hell I'm buying OEM Samsung chargers and the crazy current asking price.

Wow, how is that even legal. It's very hard to maintain good faith in a company when they show such blatant disregard for their customers. This helps no one but them and negatively affects millions of consumers and countless companies that make accessories.
That's nuts. I don't do much wireless charging since they're never as fast as the regular or supercharge but I'd be pissed losing any feature as basic as that for such an expensive phone. I haven't updated or rooted yet but I won't rush it at this point. Everything works good for me. I also seen people complaining about losing 5G which is nuts. I'm on Sprint/T Mobil.. Last thing I need is worst data.. Thanks for the replies
