Personal choice but if you can't wait for new OS, then why not head down the direction of X10 or HTC Desire, i.e. android?
My own personal preference is, I wouldn't touch an iphone with a barge pole!!

Does anyone know if O2 are planning on releasing any new XDA phones in the near future? Within 6 months or so. I know there are new models being produced, but as far as O2 releasing them...
I e-mailed customer services, and they said they 'couldn't tell me'.

I am planning to replace my Artemis before Dec 2008.
I would like to get a bigger screen like the old XDA, but with the facilities of an Artemis.
This prompted me to ask whether anyone could provide information about what HTC are planning.
Is there a site that might give me a lead?
Lastly, is there an upto date comparison of the HTC models?

I'm considering jumping ship from my HD to iPhone. But in November I remember hearing that manufacturers were going to be receiving copies next month (this month, december).
So I took this to mean that we should probably be getting copies here on xda and over at ppcgeeks at least by feb but I was hoping sooner....I searched but didn't find much.
Anything more specific yet than "first half of 2009" or "q1 09" ??
I'm dying! If I jump to the fruit phone right as 6.5 comes out that would be pretty ridiculous, so I of course want to see what it has to offer first..(haven't really seen a lot of details on it).
If you search long enough you will always find a newer and even so much better mobile phone that freaks you out right after you bought your new device.
I thought the diamond was good - bad reviews. Then I thought the Touch Pro was good (think so) and then I heard about the Xperia X1 (good one) and then there is the Touch HD and the Wimax buddy. And that happened in how many months?
I don't think WinMo 6.5 will be so much of a revolution that the walls of the big apple building will collapse. Go and buy your iPhone, but don't come back crying in a few weeks and tell us about all the apps that don't exist / are not allowed to be sold in app store due to security restrictions.

I currently own a HTC phone and would love to keep it. But all my friends have blackberries and they chat using bbm (sharing pics and files in an instant). Its facebook integrated (calender and notifcations), but lacks 5mp camera as with the htc.
My current HTC will be given to a friend so that the money wont be wasted just like that.

Alright my actual question is, shall I wait until a better blackberry phone is released ? I have been waiting for more than a year, and all their latest models are 3mp phones with ugly designs .. (yet good features).
Is there any valid news that a 5mp blackberry being released ? (other than the rumor on the net).

I would go to the Android sites on the 'Net and ask. I am sure that asking about Blackberries on the Android forums will get you just as far as asking about Blackberries on a Windows Mobile site.

No problem that you asked it here, there are enough people that know a lot about non-HTC/non-wm phones.
But I can't tell you if there's going to be a new blackberry soon.
It has occurred to me looking at the offerings available now as upgrades from my network provider that in six months time when my contract comes up for renewal that my choice is likely to be an overpriced windows 7 device or an android variant.
In my mind the continuation of windows mobile in its 6.x.x variants on new devices is going to be down to this community flashing roms onto either of the above platforms and I would imagine that the most obvious thing would be if android can be flashed to a winmo device the opposite should be true too.
Just a question, not sure if it has been discussed elsewhere already
